They didn’t work on my car because I chose to go another route with it but they did, what I think, give it a really thorough inspection. Found some stuff that I didn’t even suspect was wrong. The dude in front that helped us was great and the whole vibe around the shop was chill. Haven’t really been to many auto shops but would definitely come back here !

So far good experience, just took our car today for an inspection. Tim was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Assured us that the no work will be done until we are notified of the repairs needed. I like that professional promise. Very clean shop and 5 star experience to start. Will update post later. Overall an outstanding superior experience. I appreciated that we were kept up on the progress of the repair. They didnt just rush to get a repair they analyzed the problem and troubleshot as needed. They applozied that the parts had to come from LA and gave us a new estimate on when the car would be finished. Right on time. The price was amazing and we are completely satisfied with the repair and warranty. Again thanks to Tim and the whole team. We will be back and recommend this auto repair to anyone who wants a great experience.

This shop is impressive. The facility is clean and staffed with focused mechanics bustling away. Upon entering the lobby, I was instantly welcomed and waited no more than 20 seconds. Super polite, courteous, and friendly.I came in to locate an AC leak on my FJ Cruiser, just a couple hours later, I got the bad news that my condenser needed replacement. They fixed everything and replaced the condenser and had it back to me the very next day. AC blows cold enough to freeze an Eskimo. WOW! No messing around here. This kind of work isn’t cheap, but the price was very fair and the experience I had there softened the impact of the cost.I will absolutely go back here when I need work done.

Even Though I did not end up using West Coast Automotive & Transmission for my transmission problem, they still treated me fairly and tried to go the best way possible. However for this vehicle in question its not my number one vehicle for dependability. I was trying to keep the price lower then what I was quoted. Now remember in this world in which we all live you do get what you pay for. No reflection on them for this outcome Im happy they are happy and I would have no problem in recommending them for gotta have, gotta work everyday of the year vehicle.

I actually am not 100% sold, but not because of the shop, but more because it is a drop off and wait facility, with the exception of smog checks. In my situation that is problematic. So if you dont have an issue with that, then I would recommend this place.I do want to give a shout out to Lio, the shuttle driver. Very polished and polite. A rare trait these days. But it was refreshing to realize that he loves his job. We have so many people just going through the motions and his attitude is above reproach.

I was on my way to attend a family get together to celebrate my mom’s 94th birthday when suddenly my engine coolant temp gauge pegged Hot and a warning message appeared regarding overheating. I quickly saw that I had a coolant leak and limped my truck to the closest Ford dealership. Ford said they couldn’t even look at my truck for 2 days. I drive down the street and came across West Escondido Automotive and remembered all the advertising they have done locally on TV and radio. So, I stopped in to see what they could do for me. Mgr Tim Daniel said they could look at my truck that afternoon to diagnose the problem(s) and get back to me. Sure enough, Tim called 3 hours later to provide me a complete and thorough diagnosis of my problems, the repair options I had available and the cost to complete each option. More importantly, Tim said that they had the parts available (all Ford OEM) and could complete the repairs by mid afternoon the following day. By noon the following day, all the repairs were complete, there were no cost surprises and I was on my way to my mom’s 94th birthday. Tim and the guys at West Escondido Automotive were very professional, extremely up front, and honest with everything. I never felt they tried to sell me a service or procedure that was unnecessary to repair my truck. Every explanation (of what needed to be performed to affect the repairs on my truck) was thoroughly explained and spelled out to my full satisfaction. They truly took excellent care of me and I would not hesitate in a heartbeat to use their services once again or to recommend West Escondido Automotive to anybody. I acquired a 2017 Kia a few months ago when a maintenance service light recently lit up. They did a 40 points assessment which provides us with a baseline on my cars health. Clear diagnostics, red and yellow issues listed by priority, no hidden/last minute added fees. Matt was transparent in advice, price, and timeline. I couldnt be happier. Of all the previous mechanics Ive gone to before, its the first time I dont feel cheated. West Escondido Auto deserves all the accolades.

I will never leave West Automotive again!!! I have a Ford and was having issues with it and one of them was a warranty issue so I went to Gosch Ford. When I dropped it off for the warranty issue I asked if they could do an oil change and let them know my truck was loosing power on hills. I took my truck to them for the loss of power issue 3 times, the first 2 times they charged thousands and the problem was still there and the third time they told me I need a new motor and gave me an estimate of thousands more. I decided to get a second opinion and went back to West Automotive. I made my appointment for an oil change and told them about the loss of power. I got a call a few hours later that my engine was covered with oil and dirt and to properly diagnose the problem they would need to power wash the engine and flush the lines so I approved that and when I got the call later that afternoon to let me know what was wrong with my truck I was so glad I went for the second opinion. I did have an oil leak and the line that had the leak was a 27.00 part!!!! Ford NEVER recommended cleaning the engine to properly diagnose, they instantly went to a motor replacement!!!! Since Ive had my truck back after being repaired at West Automotive its running like a champ and taking hills like nothing. Im so thankful to everyone at West Automotive for being so honest and professional and will continue to take my truck to them along with recommending them to my friends. THANK YOU EVERYONE AT WEST AUTOMOTIVE!!!!Recommended

The AC in ourToyota tundra has been out for over a year and a half and we finally had the money to repair it. So glad we chose West automotive to do the repairs. Very professional friendly on time and informative. So nice to have the AC back in our truck. will be using this company for a long time to come.

My car was towed to you Sept. 1, 2020 due to having every warning light on. I explained that it happened when I started, then restarted the car quickly. I was told I needed a new alternator (over $1200) & that it probably wasn’t covered by warranty. I called the dealer and found out it was under warranty. I paid the inspection fee and had it towed to the dealer who found, after extensive testing, that absolutely nothing was wrong with my car. I had to pay their inspection fee too. I feel really ripped off.It is 3/23/2021 now and the warning light has NOT gone on again. Brian told me it would probably go on again within a month or so. They are nice people, but they were WRONG this time.

I had a low oil pressure problem caused by another auto shop. After calling other shops the only solution seemed to be a complete engine rebuild.West Escondido asked the correct questions, put my mind at ease, as far as a rebuild, and traced the problem to a $30 part IN 2 DAYS. While the shop that created the problem could not trace it down in 2 weeks.Communication is great, I received a iPhone call every day, while the shop that did the work, I had to call for updates and wait on hold.

Nice place, nice people, but I paid almost $70 for them to fail my vehicle before they even tested it’s emissions because it had a tuner attachment that I put on that takes 2 seconds to detach. They said I’d have to come back after removing it, and I’d be charged for the smog check again. Lost my business.

Total Crooks charged us over 2500 dollars for a vacum repair gave car back with check engine light off car running better but still a little rough. then light came back on so we dropped car back off. now they want 2k more for catalytic converter repair we could easily do elsewhere for half or less.. we will be seeing them in small claims court shortly ..

They got it done much faster than I expected and they have a shuttle to take you home and come back to get you. I will be going back to them and I would recommend them to anyone.

(Update): New engine, 8 fuel injectors, radiator, a huge job and the change in our RV is amazing! Total in-and -out the door time was 7 weeks but were so glad it turned out well and that West knew how to do it right and to think of running the chemical block test in the first place. Some minor issues remain but they are trying to fit us in as fast as possible. Their appointment and large vehicle scheduling system could use an upgrade and it would have been better if we could have driven the RV home while we were waiting. (That also would have relieved some of the congestion that prevails in their parking lot.) They did successfully complete the job within the last timeframe they gave us (2 weeks from last phone conversation, grand total time 7 weeks).(First review): We brought our Class B RV (Chevy based) in 5 weeks ago for a starting issue and as of this writing they have only done the diagnosis and they are now telling me it will take 7 weeks to complete the job - they think (maybe). They believe now the RV needs a new head gasket which basically warrants a new engine on our RV with 100K miles and is a very expensive repair. The initial diagnosis took 1 week which is way too long in itself. Each time I call they say theyve been very busy and havent been able to find a spot for my RV in their repair bay. This just means that other cars are getting priority over ours. We are now trying to get the RV out of there so we can find someone who is truly interested in repairing our vehicle. Do not take your large vehicles to this place unless you wont be needing your vehicle for several months.

For more than 10 years, I have regularly relied upon West Escondido Auto for evaluation and repairs to my 2 old vehicles, one a 1996 Ford Explorer >200,000 miles and the other a 2003 BMW coupe >170,000. They are honest, fair, straightforward in explaining my options, reliable communicators or their findings and helpful in discussing what repairs are important for safety reasons and what may be optional or may be deferred. They are the best!

What great service! Initial wasnt great but after my second visit and had the chance to talk to Matt Bush that all changed. I had a car I need to get back into shape and the process was seamless at West Escondido Automotive and Transmission. They got my car back in shape and passed inspection. I was able to get it back on the road sooner than expected. I was called every time some thing new was found and made sure I gave the go ahead before executing. Talk about +10 service. They took care of my car and were able to properly diagnose the problem with the transmission when other mechanics could not. I was able to trust them to fix the problem and now my car is running beautifully. They even washed it for me and its like new again.

Incredibly professional, detailed, and confident service. This is the best auto shop experience I have ever had. I want to break this down into three components:Reporting- Their multipoint inspection report included pictures of what needed replacing, robust measurements, and actual notes from the tech. This was sent to me in a link via text message, and provided a hard copy. They even took pictures of tire tread depth.Listening- It didnt seem like they were forcing anything down my throat. They first asked when the last time I had A or B service done instead of shoving the Factory Recommendations in my face first. I told them what my issues were, and they actually listened and documented it. Wow.Service- Service was fast, their techs are professional and competent. They were able to schedule me in two days out, and kept to their time estimates for a brake inspection and a serpentine belt replacement. And the cost was certainly reasonable for all of this.With my vehicle approaching 120k, I will be going to these guys to get everything done.

They will try to tell you all this stuff needs to be done to your car, which they will try to over charge you by 600%..no lie !They tried to charge me $679.00 to put this lil rubber ring on a radiator breather hose. The part cost my Husband less than a $1.00 and he put it on himself. So be very cautious of these sharks.

I had already written them a lengthy email regarding my complaints which the shop manager read, and responded to with a phone call, but the owner clearly did not read and just responded to my Google review.The owner has multiple shops and seems to be heavily advertising focused, but not so much customer service focused. I dont know if my original condenser actually had a leak or not since they removed and replaced it. All I know is its cheaper from Ford Parts directly and West Escondido did not fix the problem.For what they charged me to NOT fix the problem, I could have (and have since) bought test equipment, tools, parts, etc and fixed the issue myself. It was the TXV, evaporator/drier, compressor switch. Everytime I get behind a city bus and see the owners face on an ad, I cringe a little and my blood pressure rises. I would not recommend this shop for anything, not even to change a wiper blade. I owned and operated a local business for several years, so I understand customer service. The owner of this shop doesnt seem to.I strongly recommend AGAINST doing business with this shop, and have downgraded my review to one star due to the owners canned bs reply that hes used on several other negative reviews. He seems to care more about his shops image than actual customer service.**Original Review**Overcharge for parts...like 11% markup on dealer prices. dont follow through with promises. Everyone I spoke to is very knowledgeable the price I was quoted was fair for the work being done and I would have gone ahead and done it except its too close to Christmas for me to spend the money but I will be going back in January it didnt take him very long to do the diagnosis it was exactly what I thought it would be and. Maybe the owners seem nice but the people that work there only want to make lots of commission they were charging me over $600 to replace brake pads the guy was talking about 140 per axle thats a ripoff the only reason why I went to these guys because on the back of a city bus it says that they never put money over people even a transmission fluid service was $300 they say that they charged by hour but I transmission service only takes about 30 minutes

Probably the best automotive repair experience I have ever encountered. I used to run automotive stores for Goodyear tire & Company and Winston tire Company and without a doubt this organization sets the bar. extremely friendly, clean, courteous, estimates on time for price and completion.

I took my car in knowing there was a leak because the refrigerant disappeared when we replaced at oreillys and trusted them to help me out. They made me believe there was no leak after I paid for inspection and fixed the condenser fan which they said was faulty. Came to over $600. Their work only lasted 1 month when they said it’d last years and I had to take it back in for them to tell me I have leaks and mildew build up. Gave me an estimate of $1200 before tax to fix those. They really fooled me into believing they solved the problem the first time around. I came in with 1 and they left me with 3. Don’t trust your car here because they’ll just keep digging deeper into your pocket and leaving you with more issues than you started with.

You should use them too !!Finding a knowledgeable and high level mechanical specialist is to say the least difficult and somewhat daunting. Matt was the man. He walked me through every step of the process, was realistic, and most importantly, kind and conscientious. I really appreciate West Escondido Automotives professionalism. The malfunction indicator on my Chevy Volt was on, turned out to be a bad solenoid in the evaporative system. While taking care of that (under the GM strike, no less), they identified that I needed an oil change and air filter change. Matt kept in touch, gave me prices and why they were necessary. The cost of all the repairs was expensive, but I think worth it for the care and attention they provide. Would definitely recommend West Automotive to everyone. And thank you, Matt, for everything.

I called on a Friday morning to see if I could get my RAV4 in because of a check engine light, and they were kind enough to let me drop off that afternoon and take a look at it on Saturday... despite them not typically doing that service on that day. Chris had an answer for me first thing Monday morning when they opened. He gave me an honest answer about the labor and what to expect, didn’t push me super hard for anything additional, and made sure I understood what was going on. They offer a shuttle service as long as you’re within a close enough range — super convenient and good communication as far as arrival times.

I have had my much loved (and equally much repaired) 14 year old Oldsmobile Aurora taken care of a number of times by West Escondido Automotive & Transmission. They are always professional and thorough with their diagnostics and recommended repairs. I have had very unsatisfactory experiences with other repair places in the past before I thankfully found my way to this organization. They are, in my opinion, simply the best at what they do and always friendly and courteous as well. I would add a + to the five stars!Addendum: I had my car in on 5/5/15 for replacement of valve cover gaskets necessitated by oil leaking on the manifold. Lots of work (and not cheap - mostly labor) but as always I was completely satisfied. Service writer Tim took great care of me as do all of the personnel in the front. I can always depend on West Escondido for the best assistance and service. Five stars for sure!

Brought in our 2000 4Runner via a tow truck here on a weekend. Problem was, it had been spewing white smoke and sends off a strong gas odor when driven. Stalled a few times too. All these had been taken cared off and had our truck up and running again. Tim had been very helpful and thorough in explaining the importance of changing the 6 fuel injectors all at once. I would recommend this auto shop.
