Called around was told by multiple shops this place was the best place to take a Volvo. Heard a strange noise from my car and called, Tom had me come in the same day to a quick drive to see if he could diagnose it. Ended up being nothing, but will be taking my car back when I’m do for service. Tom was very accommodating and friendly.

Tom and the other mechanics are great. I had recently bought a Honda Odyssey from shift I noticed the brake fluid was dark so I brought it here and they did a flush as well as brake check routine. It turns out all the struts were worn out and cupping. This is something that company Shift should’ve taken care of but they will reimburse me for repairs. Shift wanted documentation and pictures of the parts and Tom and their team made sure it was all taken care of. Nice people at auto tech! Highly recommend them 💪🏻

Honest, dependable, good mechanics with superb communication are hard to come by, and these people have it.I had the unfortunate situation of having by catalytic converter stolen twice in the same month, and they helped guide me through the process. One employee in particular, John, stopped what he was working on to help me with a tire pressure issue. He took the time to check the pressure for all of my tires and explained the next steps that I could take if this didn’t solve the issue. The company doesn’t specialize in tire repair, but he went above and beyond to help me. John is a genuine and kind hearted mechanic that I highly recommend.

Auto Techs staff is incredibly knowledgeable and trustworthy. They will show and explain to you exactly what needs to be fixed and what will be done to get your car back to normal. I take my 1997 Toyota 4RUNNER as well as a 2015 Toyota Prius to be serviced here. I recommend Auto Tech to my friends and family who need to have work done on their cars as well.

They diagnosed and fixed a rat infestation in my engine compartment. It was so gross. I had taken it to a different shop twice but the problem continued so I came to Auto Tech. Theyre up front and fair with their pricing and pretty nice for people who had to stick their hands into a nest full of live rats and rat droppings.The owner sends out update letters about quarterly. Be sure to read them. He always has interesting anecdotes to share, keeps trying to make himself retire, and they usually include mention of a discount on an oil change if you took the time to read it. So do that.I highly recommend Auto Tech. You wont be disappointed or get hit in the face with sticker shock. And my car has been rat sober for well over a year now! Yay!

Tom was able to identify the issue quickly and then proceeded to explain what was happening to my car in a way that I understood. It was time for me to replace quite a few parts in my 2011 Volvo, and he was helpful both in reducing costs and referring me to a credit card company that they usually recommend, which also fit perfectly with what I needed.I recommend Auto Tech to anyone that would like to work with no-nonsense, hardworking people that deliver quality work!

Auto Tech gave my 1998 Ranger a good tune up. I opted in for some emergent work and everything added up to a great price. When I discussed some possible misfiring issues later they had me bring it, diagnosed it (turned out to be a separate issue), did a little repair job on the spot, and recommended a solution--all free of charge. Overall a fantastic business and they have my highest recommendation.

These guys are great and a lifesaver. We had a major problem driving up from Mexico and barely made it to El Cajon. Tom got us in immediately, fixed everything quickly, and got us on our way again. And, at a very fair price to boot! I highly recommend them!

Had an issue with a critter (large rabbit) getting in my engine bay and destroying my serpentine belt. Was towed here late on a Saturday and Tom was extremely helpful by removing the rabbit even though they had just closed. Shop did a great job with the repair and we will definitely be using Auto Tech again for any future services.

Engine was making a crazy noise. In addition to fixing the problem I took the car in for, they also took care of an issue that the dealer had been chasing for a long time. Always going over and above in there efforts!

Weve taken our Volvo there several times. Each time we have received excellent service. There is no pressure to fix anything. They tell us what is wrong and what must be fixed and what can wait. They work fast and get our car back to us quickly. There is no pressure to fix any unnecessary items. They communicate with us every step of the fix. We are definitely returning again.

Auto Tech is my go-to shop. I know the family of one of their mechanics and specifically went to Auto Tech because working on Saabs runs in that family. I have confidence that their work is faithful, honest, and expert. They make and keep appointments and are normally able to accommodate my schedule even on short notice. Ive never been oversold or pressured. John, who usually runs the front desk, is an excellent listener and communicator. I dont feel hurried when I ask questions or analyze my bill for a few moments. One time I came in with an inoperative A/C fan. Tom was able to make a quick assessment and even got it working again. It was making a noise which made it obvious it needed replacement. They were able to quote me a price for replacement but by getting the fan unstuck I had time to think it over and plan for the expense. I plan to keep going back to Toms shop for repairs and routine maintenance.

Total pros who gave me tremendous peace of mind. I drove to El Cajon from LA to look and possible buy a 1986 Suzuki Samurai. With a car that old and unknown history, other than Carfax and what the seller was telling me, I was a bit nervous. So I called Auto Tech because their website said they specialized in Japanese cars. Although Tom was the only tech in on that Saturday he took me in and looked the car over. I thought, at best, the inspection would entail a “glance over” with the vehicle being put on the a lift for a quick undercarriage look-see. But to my surprise Tom did the most thorough inspection I could imagine. It was so thorough that after Tom went through it I had complete peace of mind to not only buy the car but also drive it all the way back to LA. Thank you, Tom!!! By the way, if you’re a baseball fan and his son is there helping out, be sure to chat him up about his journey in the sport as a pitcher. Good stuff.

We have a family car, a Volvo but my husbands car is a 914 Porsche. He is the original owner, it is 46 years old!The Porsches mechanic retired after 40 years, so Tom and John to the rescue! They recently ordered parts and replaced the shift link bushing. The Targa top still rattles, has rust in some spots, but it shifts like it did when brand new.Highly recommend this shop and the knowledgeable master mechanics. They really take care of you and your car here. Appointments are suggested, you never know how busy they can be but drive ins are welcome too, especially if its an emergency. The service is amazing

Auto Tech (Tom, John and their mechanics) keep your safety in the forefront. They discuss a plan of action and prioritize repairs based on your safety (if you have multiple repairs). Their pricing at first seemed a little high (coming from Oregon) but there are no return visits to fix repairs they made - they guarantee their work and they get it right the first time which makes their pricing spot on. My daughter was recently in a costly fender bender and I called Auto Tech for a body shop and the recommendation they made was a shop equally as fantastic as theirs. I now have a network of people I trust when it comes to auto care. Auto Tech has a loyal customer for life.

Expensive! Would not recommend taking a vehicle here. Fairly confident that this shop assumed I was lacking car knowledge because Im a woman, and tried their best to take advantage of that. For one, the repair quote they gave me was significantly higher than any of the other places I contacted for a quote. For another, they tried to convince me that I needed unnecessary repairs, presumably to be able to charge me more money. Customer service is also lacking. When I went into the office to pick up my keys, I was ignored for a full five minutes before being acknowledged because the man behind the counter felt he needed to finish telling his friend a personal story first. Ended up taking my car over to Ted at TK imports on El Cajon Blvd, he was very knowledgeable about my vehicle and the repairs it needed, and fixed it for 2,000 dollars less than what auto tech quoted me.

In the past, I always took my car to the dealership for oil changes and felt pressured that there was always some dire need for further repair. At Auto Tech, I can trust the employees for their honest opinion. If my car needs repair immediately, they will tell me; however if its a situation that can wait a few months, I can plan for that financially. That core integrity speaks volumes about who they are and how they operate business.

Took my Audi q7 to a different shop, and they quoted me 2300 to do a repair. Took it to auto tech to get a 2nd opinion, and they suggested I call dealer to see if it might still be under warranty since it was related to a smog issue. Sure enough it was even though my overall warranty was up. Also asked what cost would be if it hadnt been, and auto tech said $900.

It had been a while since I had visited Auto Tech (about 2 cars ago!), but the service on this visit was the same or better than it was back then....John and Tom are courteous and honest - same as I always remembered!
