Golden Fig is a wonderful bookstore. It has a great selection of books, mostly new but some inexpensive used copies as well. The staff picks in particular were a standout. I bought a novel based on one of the recommendations which I really enjoyed and might not otherwise have heard of. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area.

The Golden Fig is a gift to Durham. Spending time in this bookshop feels like a respite from the outside world, and I always feel like a sated treasure hunter when I leave with my new-to-me books. In less vague terms, the prices are beyond fair, the used books are always in pristine condition, the selection is delicious and inspiring, and David, the owner, is a delight. You should visit. :)

Another excellent independent bookstore in the Triangle thats worth checking out. Really well curated selection - a nice mix of new books and affordable used copies. Good selection of NC authors and local interest, as well as some great kids and teen books. (Oh, and free parking 👏)

The shop is small but there is a wide selection of books at a great price. I found many of the books I had on my list and then some. The space is very nice and well organized. Staff was helpful and accommodating. I will definitely return for more books in the future.

Golden Fig is inseparable from David, who is a wonderful bookseller and very knowledgeable if you need to ask for book recommendations. In addition to its sweet location next to Guglhupf bakery, Golden Fig is a fantastic bookstore to order from online (and has a user friendly website!), with curbside pick-up.

Staff was helpful, but this is the highest priced store I have seen for used books. That said, they did have some scifi stuff I cant find any place else.

So happy to have a solid used book store option now! The online ordering and curbside pickup process was super easy.I havent been inside yet, but I look forward to visiting in the future.

Excellent indi bookstore with a super cool vibe and friendly knowledgable staff. The book selection is on point and the prices are surprisingly low. The parking is free and right in front of the store. This is my go to store in the triangle area. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed!

I just got back from living in Japan for a year and I got really used to the Japanese used bookstore BOOKOFF, where you can get nearly any book in (usually) pristine condition for the equivalent of $1-3... naturally I stocked up on a ton & thought I would be done with American bookstores for a good stretch (culture shock was coming home to how pricey+beat-up used books tend to be in the states), but when I came home to Golden Fig I was surprised by how affordable & well-preserved David’s stock is (& immediately resumed booklust+collecting). I’ve already gotten four books and I’m going to pick up a fifth today... (randomly wanted a novel I’ve been meaning to read & when I searched the GF website it popped up as already in stock! seriously vast stock for such a cozy little place). it’s also right next to Guglhupf so lovers of fancy coffee+stockpiling books beware 💛

Great selection of well-kept and well-priced used books. The owner clearly takes great care to ensure the books are in great condition. At first I thought it was a regular (ie, non-used, all new) bookstore! They’ve also got a North Carolina books section.

I recently ordered some books on-line through Golden Fig and was amazed at the efficiency and ease of placing the order and receiving my books shortly after. Communication was stellar and I promptly found the exact books I wanted in my mailbox just a couple of days after ordering! I highly recommend this book store and hope to visit in person next time Im in the area. Bravo!

This is a wonderful little bookstore! They stock new and used books, but the used books are in such pristine condition that you wouldn’t guess that they had been previously loved. The prices are very reasonable and they stock a great selection of various topics. The staff are kind and willing to help with recommendations or even just chat!

Nice little book store with a small-but-great selection of used books in a clean, bright environment. Pricing seems to hover around the $10 mark, which seems appropriate for the condition of the books. Friendly staff helped us sell our books for a very fair price. They offer options for payment in cash or store credit (if you choose the credit option, your payout is higher).

My partner and I stopped by before eating at Gugelhupf. We brough a few of our used books to trade-in and got about $14 store credit. We found LOTS of books in this shop we wanted to buy. We were impressed with how well curated the selection is. Yes it is a small shop, but there is no fluff here. We left with a couple of new titles and spent under $6. Owner was very friendly, super knowledgeable, and fair. This will probably be my go-to spot for *like new literary fiction going forward.

Im so thrilled to have a local used bookshop in the neighborhood! Golden Fig is well manicured, has a great selection, but small enough to not get overwhelmed, and the prices on the used books are surprisingly low. Great ambiance, staff, everything.
