I’ve been going to Northgate for over two years and I LOVE this place. Bring tour car here, if they can’t help you, they’ll tell you someone who can. The prices are great too. Iv had oil changed and brakes done here along with my yearly inspection. The front desk manager is THE BEST. LOVE HER.

The staff shortage currently shows which is affecting the quality of work. Vehicle had been there 2 weeks and I had to reach out on multiple occasions before they finally got the car in. They sent a text stating the car was ready but the repairs were short lived because as soon as I picked the car up and test drove, the AC wasnt working, the oil light was flashing, there was a misfire, and the steering wheel turn was still hard. Had to return twice in 2 days after waiting 2 weeks.. We ended up at the dealer and the owner did refund our money but it was a headache!

These people are great! They replaced my radiator and did an excellent job. I highly recommend them! The lady at the front desk was very kind and helpful and I knew that I had found an honest and great place to get all my automotive work done. Its hard to find someone you can trust to do good and dependable work but these guys surpass my expectation!

I brought my 2006 Lexus RX to Northate Auto Service, instead of taking it to Lexus, and its so much better. They got the job done, for half the price. And Pia, the front desk manager, is very nice, personable, and helpful.

They’re great! Pia runs the front office and schedules the jobs and she’s a delight! I don’t trust anyone else with our vehicles.

I found this garage on the Car Talk forum mechanics files to evaluate my daughters old car after she had just moved from the northeast. Based on their advice we decided to junk the car. They charged me nothing. Then she bought a new car which turned out to need ball joints, and she was abandoned by the dealer (who we will pursue in other ways). The work was done very quickly and competently at a fair price. They are a delight to deal with and have earned our business.

Many places try to get over on our elderly but not this auto shop. I have been going there for years. My mom was concerned about her a/c so she took her car to Northgate Auto. There wasnt anything wrong with it and they explained what she was seeing. She asked how much, she was told nothing because nothing was done. Now if she went anywhere else then it would have been $50-$75 for no issue. They look out for our community which I appreciate.

My wife and I took our cars to Northgate Auto for many years when we lived in NC. They were excellent all-around: Friendly, good service, and more than reasonable prices. They were extremely trustworthy in only recommending necessary repairs and finding affordable solutions whenever possible, without compromising quality. The staff is extraordinarily kind, and treated us as friends every time we visited. Could not recommend them more highly!

The owner and his employees are kind and courteous. Excellent customer service and hard working people. They have the absolute best mechanic around Toney who has 30+ years under his belt. They do everything they can to figure out what is wrong with your vehicle. They do speedy inspections all depending on if they find something that needs to be fixed. And they definitely are not like some businesses out there that make up stuff being wrong with your car thats not just to get money out of you. They are the most honest and real people you will ever meet in the auto service industry.

I previously had my oil change at a Jiffy Lube that had a mileage sticker of when I should return. After a bad experience there, I decided to check out Northgate Auto. The mechanic told me I didn’t need an oil change (I still had over 50% oil left!), checked all my fluids, and fixed a faulty light on my dashboard at no cost.Like most, I am nervous of getting taken advantage of by mechanics (especially being a female) but I’m glad I trusted these reviews. Everyone was kind and trustworthy and I will definitely be returning.

We live down the block from Northgate Auto and gave them a try after another Durham mechanic over-tightened my Scions serpentine belt. They took a look and fixed it FOR FREE! Needless to say, Ive taken all my business to them since, for the last 3 years weve lived in Durham. The front desk is ALWAYS friendly and lighthearted, quick, and efficient. My one brief conversation with a mechanic was very courteous and also efficient. Not one hint of disrespect for being someone who knows less about cars!I cant recommend them enough! We are moving out of state soon and very sad we cant pick them up and take them with us. :(Prices are always reasonable too!

These folks were awesome. Got my truck in and repaired next day. They use text notifications in addition to voicemail which is handy. They have online payments and combination boxes outside for contactless vehicle pick up.My favorite thing was the tech put my seat back where I had it! Or he was super super short... Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because they left my truck unlocked in their parking lot which is in an area with a lot of foot traffic. They knew I was picking it up soon but it was kind of concerning.

Ive been taken advantage of by mechanics in the past, so Im super weary when I move and have to find a new one. So glad I found Northgate, these guys are great! Always super friendly, Ive never had an issue getting in when I need to, and communication is wonderful - theyll check in with details and cost breakdown before doing anything to the car. Their COVID precautions are solid - a key dropbox and an outdoor tent with heaters if you need to wait. Plus online appointment scheduling is a breeze. I recently had a car issue and they happened to find an easy fix. They refused to charge me a dime even after I asked if I could pay them a diagnostic fee or really anything for their time. These guys are 100% my go-to auto place. Genuinely nice and trustworthy people.

I have been taking my car to Northgate Auto for about 3 years now. Today, I went in to ask for an oil change and an inspection. They informed me that even though my oil change was scheduled for April, they didnt think I needed it since it was 3K miles from a new oil change. That gives you an sense of the integrity these guys have. You can trust them to only do work on your car that you need. I highly recommend them for all of your car maintenance and repairs in the Durham area.

Edit: The appointment was under another name. I have a screenshot of the appointment confirmation I will send u and post here with my review if necessary. We indeed called when we arrived (which can also be proved with a simple screenshot including a time and date stamp) and were instructed to not only leave our key in the box outside the door but to also leave the registration there. The only way were able to get that instruction was by speaking to someone because the note on the door does not state anything about the registration. We then called, again, at 8:20 (which I will also provide a screenshot of) stating that our 8:00 appointment has already passed and were told that it will be another 10 minutes and at that time was not informed of a missing appointment. 20 minutes after that, when the front desk associate came to the door to speak with another customer, I mentioned again that the appointment was at 8:00 and it was 8:40 and we were wondering when the mechanic would begin. She simply stated he had another car to do before us and closed the door. 5 minutes later our keys were picked up and 25 minutes after that we paid and left. I will provide all of this information, as stated before.I must have been the one customer that they didnt care about because my experience was nothing like the others here. I made an appointment at 8:00 for an inspection. Had to sit outside and wait 45 minutes before they acknowledged that I even needed to be helped. The mechanic that finally came out to get my car decided he would help his friend first. It was the LONGEST inspection Ive ever had because, as the garage door was lifted, I could see they were just standing around and talking. I asked if the car would be ready soon and the receptionist had an attitude telling me he had something to do before my car... How is that my problem?! An inspection normally takes 15-30min after 1hour I think asking for an eta when I have to go to work is not unreasonable. NEVER coming back here. The customer service is a strong ZERO

Went there for a vehicle inspection. Staff told me one hour wait. Asked if I could come back in an hour. He said that will be okay. I went back an hour later. They said they cannot serve me because they are 30 minutes behind and will close in an hour. Waste of my time and effort...

Their system of calling in, dropping off keys in a box and picking them up from a lock box is a great way to keep everyone safe. Long time satisfied customer. They always go the extra mile.

Outstanding amazing service. I was able to speak to Tony the mechanic that worked on my car. He worked on my brakes and was honest about what needed to be done. He found a lot of problems that a dealership should have caught or fixed properly. He also took the time to check the fluids and caught a problem with the oil that could have cost me an engine. I am thankful for their great service. By the way, they have a great way of texting to keep you updated.

If you like your space, this is the place that gives you plenty. Sites are nestled in among mature pines offering shade and privacy. Unlike many other campgrounds where you feel like youre in a trailer park on top of one another!

Dropped my car off because it was making rumbling and ticking. They were able to pin point the issue and save me a ton of money instead of trying to push service to be done my old vehicle. I recently realized that my tags were expiring in January. After driving around in a semi-panic (I only had that afternoon to get both inspected AND my tags) I tried three locations and was told it would be either three hours or that they couldnt do it that day. My mom has been a loyal and very satisfied customer here for years, so I pulled in. They couldnt have been nicer, and even held my place on their schedule while I did a quick but necessary trip to my bank. I got my inspection and renewed my tags just around the corner. Lady at the front desk was super sweet. She told me to bring my car in same day. They let me know I needed a new starter and gave me two options to pick from. It was fully repaired from the time I got there till it was finished in about 2.5-3.5 hours. I’ll be back here for sure. Thanks!

In my case a repair job done at another shop had been done poorly. Northgate called and talked to the other shop and tried to get them to warranty their work. The repairs were done quickly and I have the confidence that they only did what needed to be done and did it for a very reasonable price. I think I found my new shop!Highly recommend them!

Northgate Auto is my regular auto service stop. Most recently they did a brake job on my 2013 Altima. As always, the work was done promptly and completely competently. I have relied on this station for car and truck care since 1972. They stand behind their work and the staff and atmosphere are always welcoming. Waiting area upgrades over the past few years have made it a pleasant place to wait; plus, Northgate shopping is only a few steps away for the longer maintenance and repairs.
