I brought my bike in for a tire repair. The technician suggested a tuneup which included the tire repair. I was skeptical, I thought it was just salesmanship, as he pointed out adjustments that needed to be made.This was a relatively new bike, that had been assembled by another shop. Boy was I wrong. What a difference a tuneup made in riding performance. Every aspect of the riding experience is smoother faster and requires much less effort from me. That first ride after the tuneup was amazing. Metropolis you are now my go to shop for bike repair and accessories. Thanks for educating me on the finer aspects and nuances of cycling .

I kept breaking rare spokes on my e-bike. A friend of mine was similar problems referred me to Metropolis Bike shop. Ted and his team rebuilt my rear wheel better than I could ever imagine I rode 200 miles the same week with close to 400 lb of cargo and the wheel performed phenomenally. I was biking earlier downtown and my free-wheel basically ‘blew up’. I didn’t know what happened until I got to Metropolis after searching for a local shop.Shane (sp) handled my bike so quickly that I was able to get back out and get the rest of my ride done. And there was a short qeue of customers when I came in, but he just politey handled each persons problems. Thanks guys, I’ll be back!

Incredible service, craftsmanship and knowledge about bikes. Total newbie to road biking, I took one out on a test drive while my bike was being worked on. While the bike I test drove was quite complex and totally custom, I knew I liked the comfort and the ride. They educated me and answered all of my questions (huge shoutout to Derek), and a week later, the bike was mine. As someone who is 5 tall, I always thought road biking was an inaccessible activity because the bikes you might try off-the-shelf always felt off -- but learned that Metropolis actually specializes in bikes for short riders, and even better, specializes in bikes that ride comfortably on Detroit roads. This changed my entire experience of biking - went out and rode 20+ miles two days in a row after taking it home. What a great experience. Thanks Metropolis!

Every business should have customer service like this place. I have been going here since they opened. They go out of their way to do repairs as fast as they can most often while you wait. I was on a ride this morning and was reminded how happy I am that I found and purchased from this place. About a year ago I was looking to get into cycling and had an idea of what I wanted but needed some help. I called around and visited a few places but couldn’t find a shop that was willing to help me out above just the sticker price. Metropolis Cycles was my last stop and the staff (shorter guy can’t remember his name) walked me through all their options and was able to customize my bike to exactly what I was looking for. The bike I ended up purchasing was a little over my price point, but I am so glad I listened to his advice and made the purchase. When the weather is nice, I ride almost daily and have never had an issue outside of one flat tire. The last time I was in there they even gave me a tune up for free! I highly recommend this bike shop as in my opinion, it is the best in the city. Thanks for the personal care you’ve made a lifelong customer out of me!

My experience at Metropolis Cycles was far better than the shopping experience at any other retail store (let alone bike stores). Shaynes and the teams passion about customer service is testament to the reputation that they have built.I drove 30 minutes to Metropolis Cycles after listening to two other bike shops about 3 week turnaround time for a minor fix on my bike. I was pleasantly shocked that I was promised to get my bike back in TWO days! And I did get it back just in time for weekend ride. I took the my other bike in the second visit for another minor fix. I was able to wait for half an hour and get it back right then!I have visited scores of other stores and they truly should learn a thing or two from the awesome staff here at Metropolis. I will gladly recommend anyone in the metropolitan area to take the trouble of getting here to either shop around / get their bikes serviced.

Quick / Kind / Knowledgeable / AffordableWOW! just wow. I tried to fix the front derailleur on my bike myself and of course fudged it all up. I called them in a tizzy on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and they cooly said, bring it on in ... might be a wait but we can get you set. They even asked twice, out of concern for safety, to make sure my bike was still in rideable shape given what Id un/done.So, on this stunning, early spring, Saturday afternoon, they quickly diagnosed that whatever I was trying to adjust was not gonna help as my entire front derailleur was rusted solid --- they swapped it out, while juggling a ton of other customers, pickups, scheduled appointments, in just about an hour. Just an hour, for a walk-in derailleur swap!! I was speechless and forever grateful just for the speedy service.On top of this, everyone I encountered was so, so nice and totally accommodating -- thats not sufficient ... they were truly gracious, from the person that listened to me whine/explain on the phone, to the people I interacted with at the shop: the person who did the repair, the folks I chatted with while waiting, and Owen who helped me check out when I was done. They even apologized for the wait multiple times, which was like no time at all, given the circumstances.I love my bike, but am no expert -- so it was nice to get enough info on the new part to feel like a responsible bike maintainer. Owen shared just enough details to make sense to a relative dilettante like me ... didnt nerd out or overwhelm me, just reassured me that the replacement was in line with what was there previously, an appropriate mid-level (like my bike itself) component, and something that would work perfectly and I wouldnt really have to worry about.I would not have even asked about the part, though, if the cost had not been so low (worried, was I getting some knock-off?) -- well actually it was FN cheap!!!! New Shimano front derailleur, cable package, and labor costs were 41 bucks. What?!?!?! Emergency, Saturday afternoon service, a solid parts replacement -- all at 40$. I was and am truly stunned.This experience, every aspect of it, totally made my day!! And on top of all this, I have now found my official bike shop -- so if you are looking for a goto shop, dont hesitate at all, even if you are not so super close. They are totally worth it -- besides you have a bike, just ride over.Oh, and one more thing -- you cant tip them on their iPad register thingy, so bring a six pack of flavored sparkling water, like Bubly, when you drop by. It will be truly appreciated.

My chain snapped off my bike on my way down to Slow Roll- I ran 2 miles to this shop as it was highly recommended by the people I was riding with.
