Bought a project 1938 Schwinn Excelsior. It was challenging to find parts, knowledge, and skill set under one roof. Picked up the bike yesterday and it rolls like it did in 1938! ;) Thank you Bike-Tech for working with me to get the bike reliably street ready. The bike will easily make it to its 100th anniversary in 2038... hope I can still pedal it then! Regardless, Ill remember the experience and education on old bikes I received from Brian during the process. Thank you Bike-Tech.
The Bike tech was courteous and polite. Ive been coming to this location for years and have never had a bad experience here.
The owner price gauges— I’ve been going to this bike shop since 1996..for the past 10years I just stayed b/c I am a Detroit loyalist however april 7, 2021 was the breaking point. I WAS QUOTED BY THE OWNER $100 for a bike tune up(starting at this amount). The same bike that I’ve been taking to him for the past 3years. He is overpriced and has no respect for loyalty. I was also told the return time would be 7-10days and that I should be lucky that I’m getting my bike in when I am.He believes that he is the only person in the area who can do the job so he charges based on demand. Well this isn’t true! There is an awesome bike shop on Gratiot ALLIED CYCLE SHOP. They were helpful and didn’t treat me as if They were doing me a favor. The tune up starts at $49.99 and the turn around is 2-3 days.Stay away from Bike Tech if you value your hard earned money and customer service! This guy should be ashamed of himself for price gauging..I purchased a bike basket from him last year for $40 — the same basket was at Allied bike shop for $23.99.I WILL NOT TAKE MY MONEY HERE EVER AGAIN AND ADVISE SAME.
Owner has ZERO customer service skills. I always try and shop our local small businesses, dont waste your time. Apparently he doesnt need the business.
Stopped in because my bike would make a clunk noise and wasnt shifting well. They fixed it within 15 minutes and it rides perfectly now! Polite people, very nice, extremely knowledgeable. Ill definitely be coming back for any future bike needs.
Fast repair and a more than fair price. Cant recommend enough
Love this place... I used to live virtually across the street from them; great neighbors, committed to the community.... and they offer great scooter repair service (mechanical/tire elements)!!! Who knew!?Check out his vintage bike memorabilia collection at the front counter, too!
More than 15 years ago, I moved to the east side of Detroit and I was in search of a bike shop. I happened to stop at Bike Tech and that is when I met Brian, the owner and Ernest, who has got to be the best bike mechanic ever! I had a Huffy. This Huffy that I had owned for ever and wanted it painted. Brain suggested that I consider getting a new bike. He talked to me about what kind of riding I was planning on doing and recommended a wonderful cruiser, a Hampton Cruiser, which he delivered to my apartment! As they say, the rest is history. I trust Brian and his staff with my biking safety and my every biking need . I am in the process of purchasing my 6th bike from Bike Tech. They are thorough and give attention to making sure that my bike is safe. Bike tech is a staple in this east side community. They hire young people from the area, are committed to maintaining the community and are humanitarians. Brian and his staff help a client of mine that needed a replacement bike because the only transportation, his bike, bike was stolen with no costs to me or the client. They helped me with my insurance claim when my bike was stolen and even provided me with a loaner! Each time I am ready for a new bike, Brian takes the time to find me the purple cruiser I want. I find Bike tech prices to be about the same as other bike shops and in most instances lower.Brian is indeed the Bike M D and will and can answer any questions that you have about cycling, past and present. Needles to say, after dealing with Bike tech for more than 15 years, I could go on and on. Let me just say: If you are serious about your bike and riding safely, Bike tech is the place to start and stay!
Kinda pricey for a flat but there pretty cool didnt get any bads vibes just good service id use them again
BEWARE!!!! They are price gougers! Unfair with there pricing tried to charge me a car note! All i wanted was a tune up for my bike they told me $240 i went to another shop and got charged $85 i had a feeling he was trying to cheat me when we were talking asking me is $240 ok!!!!
Asked to have my daughters bike fixed up, was asked for a down payment, never been asked for a down payment at any other repair stores. Didnt have a lot of variety as far as replacement parts for childrens bikes. And the cost of repair was more than I paid for the bike, and more than me just going out and buying her a new bike online, or at Walmart. And the training wheel on one side was still very loose causing my child to fall over. Not happy with most of the so called repairs, except the pedals. I expected more for the price would not recommend this shop, if it wasnt for my child really wanting the bike, I should have just surprised her with a new one and took this repaired bike to the resale shop.
Brian runs a great shop which has been here for many years. They offer the kind of service & knowledge which is rare these days. More than just a shop, but a service to the community.
Very good experience. Knowledgeable staff. Good service. Helpful in getting fitted for the bike. Installed accessories in a timely manner.
The owner is not a honorable man. I had a snow blower repaired here that cost me around $200 and some change. The snow blower did not start when the season began. I took the snow blower back to them and ask why my snowblower is not working after an expensive repair. The owner was trying every excuse to not take ownership of this repair. But I had not use the blower after he repaired it. I lost my receipt but I showed him credit card statements of the payment and date of the transaction that showed the charges from Bike Tech. Only after wrestling with him over who is responsible, I left my blower there to began repair. When I returned, The owner had gathered all the hand written order receipts from that day I had the original repair. The owner had every work order receipt for that day except mine. I believed he removed it from that batch once I left. I had to explain to him that my credit statements is not lying because if a charge was on there that I didnt approve of he would have heard from me before then. BOTTON LINE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. THE OWNER IS NOT STRAIGHT UP
The guys that work here are very knowledgeable. The guy who runs the joint talked with me and offered allot of advice and suggestions as to what parts to get for my bike even after returning items..The shop is really cool, all kind of vintage and new bikes..I will definitely come back..
Great place. The owner has years of experience, and knowledge about Bikes.
Terrible. Dont know if it was owner I spoke to or not but he was very rude. I just wanted a simple brake lever and cable and this man proceeded to make a huge deal out of breaking up a set of levers to sell me one saying he would have to charge me $27 for one lever out of a$39 set... then when he talked about the brake line he racked up every tiny charge he could from adjustment bolt, cable, adjusting etc etc I just said thank you for your time and walked out. And this is why I stay with one bike shop! Poor customer service
Mr. Berry is a great mechanic. Bike Tech is the only shop I been using for the past three years.
Horrible experience. Worse costumer service.
This place is an amazing Bike Shop especially in this area where its all about biking I even have a special route on the street specifically for people who ride their bikes very old school vintage right by Balduk Park great place
I went to this bike shop wonderful and great experience there is a lot of people saying they had a terrible experience all I can say is go to the bike shop and see for yourself they really try to work with you and make you feel comfortable and at home
Went to the other shop on mack, pfft. They said I needed a $30 job and told me they couldnt get to me for a week. I came here, they did 2 jobs for $30 plus a full multi point expection. Kyle is the best. Ill always be here

Some nice bikes, but TOO MUCH FOR USED BIKES and too much for bike parts.
Owner and workers were very nice. A bit pricy but it is Grosse Pointe.
