Outstanding job identifying the issue with my car, and repaired well. One warning they do charge higher for parts etc. than other local shops, however, the quality of their work I appreciated.

Theyve looked after all major repairs to our Focus for the 3 years we lived in Detroit. The techs were thorough and helped us to identify places for cost saving preventative care. Their prices were fair and if we took our car as soon as they opened we often got our car back same day.Please note however, the opening time posted via Google is wrong - they opened at 9am rather than 8am.

I took my car here for an oil change about a week ago. Come to find out today they forgot to put the oil cap back on and now my car is completely out of oil with oil spewed all over my engine and insides of my car. My car could have died if I took it out on the road again but fortunately I had someone else look at it. My oil reservoir is completely empty. We caught their error just in time before I ended up stranded on the road with a dead car! And Now my car is filthy with oil everywhere and will cost me $$$ to get it steam cleaned! Do not go here! They do not do thorough work!! Isn’t putting an oil cap back on normal and standard work during an oil change???!!! I’m furious. University Auto should pay for the steam clean, this is their fault.

2 times is a charm. Don’t use these guys they will rip you off and overcharge you for lazy half done rushed work. I highly recommend you take your vehicle to a professional dealership before you come to this place looking for a discount it will only make your car situation worse. I have brought Two Ford vehicles in for service on different occasions and both jobs we’re unprofessional and ended up just costing me more money in the end then before. Such a waist of time these guys are a joke! Trust me and just pass on this place they will will lie to your face NOT TRUSTWORTHY !

This place was the worst, I needed new tie rods and a wheel alignment. I was estimated $400 elsewhere and when I called them they said it would be $300. I thought that was great, but they didnt give me the wheel alignment. No big deal..Ill go elsewhere for that. So when I went to the other place they told me that university auto care only did one set of tie rods (outer) and that i needed both outer and inner...ended up having to pay for the other set and the wheel alignment and the other place and $200 extra because I was scammed by these guys. The mechanic was really nice and helpful. But I believe the guy running the place is a scammer. Would not recommend this place.

I recommend this auto mechanic shop, if you need something done and right away this is your spot, a lot of mechanics would tell you bring it tommorow or next week but this place right on the spot & great Prices$$$💵💵💵💵

I am incredibly happy with the service I’ve received at University Auto Care. I took my car in Saturday afternoon, and they were able to do a full inspection, replace three loose belts, and replace the front brake pads all before closing that same day. They also gave me a discount, so it only cost $450 for everything. Excellent, quick, reliable service!

DONOT TRUST THEM & BE SURE TO HET A SECOND OPINION!They’re dishonest... changed my engine out on my new car.. didn’t do it in a timely fashion(they had my car for months) they said they were waiting on my warranty company.. when I Call the warranty company they said that they had been waiting on University Auto the entire time. And then when I called back the gentleman said that they have other cars to attend to before mine and that I was a last priority because the prices that I needed took longer. Ive taken my car in for oil changes and repairs a few times now and always feel satisfied with their service. It sometimes takes a few days but fortunately thats never been a problem for me. I recently had a part replaced, which broke within a month, and they replaced it without charging me anything. They also helped grease my hood latch for free on top when I went to pick it up. Very helpful and great service

Their scam artists honestly they’ll see everything wrong with your car and only fix one thing so you can come back time and time again. Also gave me my car back making noise when it wasn’t given to them like that overall all they care about is money not actually fixing your car so save your money and don’t come here.

Good at first but ended up costing me more money in the end because they broke and lost parts and couldnt put things back in the right way. Not careful when doing the job and they do little to make it right. They told my friend he needed a new water pump and replaced it, eventually his heater core went out, upon replacement at a different shop they notes there was a big air pocket left from the water pump installation.

They have great customer care the prices are a little high but theyre fast.

Took my truck up there 5 times & they still didn’t fix the problem I had a few things done last time I took it back I had a hole in my oil pan they told me they fixed it but that was a lie & oil was still leaking everywhere ! Now my engine has locked up

They should install a polygraph lie detector bc this place is shady!

I had a good experience here. Definitely best prices I could find for some routine maintenance like brakes and fluid replacements. They did my alignment better than Bell Tire did too and charged way less. Just know that since they are pretty busy and have a casual customer service style, you are not going to be waited on like royalty, and sometimes you may have to wait a bit to talk to someone. But I am fully confident they are running a fair business and that the recommendations they gave for the maintenance on my car was only what was needed. Will go there again now that I have met some of the team and my car is running great!

One of the best repair facilities to fix any car problem. Staff were so professional and friendly, after diagnosing my car problem they gave me an accurate estimate price and timewise. I came after 2 hours and pick up my car and was so happy with the service. I very much recommend it to all my friends and family members

Dont go!!! The owner advised me my car would be serviced and nothing. I checked on my vehicle 3 times and nothing. But I noticed other cars were being serviced and tow trucks were dropping off cars to be serviced before mines. Just horrible.

Quite possibly THE WORST auto shop experience Ive ever had. Their mechanics are lazy! I took my car in this past summer for a simple oil change; and noticed after a few times of driving it that it was leaking oil. I brought the car to my more trusted Auto Shop, who informed me that these amateurs LEFT THE DRAIN PLUG LOOSE! Called University Auto Care owner who basically told me What do you want me to do? Add to that they were deeply unprofessional and were not wearing masks (at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic) and I would definitively NOT RECOMMEND!!!

This is the only place I take my car to from oil changes to other car issues I might be having. They are always up front and honest about the work. The pricing is fair and the work is always clean. The owner and employees are professional.

I took my 2001 saturn sl up there cause I knew I needed breaks but was pretty sure I needed a hub bearing which I did and Im lucky I didnt lose my wheel on the freeway or something.Since I rode it so long messed up I needed the spindle too and needed my exhaust fixed since I got the car and they took care of everything.Albert up there, great guy, very friendly.Took very good care of me

I called and set up a time to drop my bmw off at 10am for new front break pads. They said shouldn’t take long. Come back at 230 and they haven’t even touched it. Not to mention they just left my parts in their waiting room for someone to steal. Definitely rude staff and the price one guy gave me was literally 3 times what the first guy told me then they tried to split the difference. Pretty shady non organized bunch of people down at that shop.Definitely wouldn’t recommend them for service if you want a stress free no drama l/ non scamming situation where I can trust my car is going to safely be worked on.

Had a timing belt changed which was offered at a discount. However, my husband received a call that we need our spark plugs changed as well which we agreed to. However about a month later, we had to take to take our car to a different shop due to an issue. The mechanic at this new shop stated whoever had changed the spark plugs had done it with dollar spark plugs (causing the issue in our car) in order to turn a profit (even though we paid far more for the spark plugs).

I dropped my car off this morning to get a lot of work done. Brakes (front and back), rotors (front and back), wheel bearings (front and back), calipers, muffler. University Auto came highly suggested by a friend of mine. They do fantastic work and are so friendly. My car rides great and my family is safe. Thank you, University Auto Care! TOP NOTCH SERVICE!

Dont be fooled by inflated reviews. Poor service, wayyy overpriced and prepare to spend ALL day...wait has already been 3+ hours, and still counting.Needed brakes, (just had fronts done this past summer), still they quoted front and rear brakes AND rotors and for kicks proposed getting all four tires replaced. Price? $487 without the tires...Avoid like the plague!

This place is amazing. i came thru the door in a panic. I drove here from outof state and discovered my tire was flat. My tires are only a week old. They were so nice and helpful. They got to my car immediately without any wait and discoved my valve stem was bad. i was in and out. I am so thankful i came here. I would reccomed this place to everyone. And thank you so much to the gentlemen rhat helped me.

Terrible customer service. I had given my car to them twice, and they did not even take a look at it in seven hours! In last December, I dropped off my car in the morning to change my fuel filter. They said they will call me back. At 6 oclock at night I went there and found nothing was done at all. On the top of that, they charged 10 dollars just for nothing! Three month later, same incident. Kept my car for six hours and did not even give me an estimate, let alone look at my car. The front guy is always inattentive, and indecisive. They used my own car to give me a drop off, which shows utter unprofessionalism. Fortunately, I took it to Downtown Mobil on Mich Ave, and they fixed it within 15 minutes.

Cant say cheapest. But they dont charge hectic amounts either. They are honest. And very helpful. And students get discounts on labor.

I am a former customer of the university on woodward, which caught fire so i assume some of same people work there, my car ran perfect everyday up until a winter storm wont start, okay they come and tow my car, 4 days before i hear anything, when i do here something he tells me, engine has locked up it will cost me $1800, this i dont believe can ran well for 2 years, oil changed new battery, antifreeze all good only light was throttle body light, so itell them this and i m gonna have you bring my car back. He charges me $110 and wont bring car back wow wow wow, Thieves, said he did compression test could not even prove that, Dont fool with this shop...........!!!!!!!!👎👎

Looking at when the first review occurred 3 years ago absolutely saddens me that this place is still in business today. I cant even imagine how many people have been scammed and manipulated with time & money by this business (including myself). I could write the worlds longest negative review and still not have said enough about this company. They advertise Free Towing - they do not. They never even bothered to call me - I had to both times then they said they were just about to! I had my car towed there after the drive shaft broke on my Jeep. After about 8 hours total (11am to 7pm) I finally called them and right then they said they were done. $1,000 later (yes I know that part is expensive) it should have had ZERO issues after that kind of money. Got on i-75 right after - never felt more scared to drive my Jeep in my life (had it for 5 years and never had 1 issue until drive shaft broke) loud vibrating and shaking. Took it back after doing research that it could be off balance (told them to drive it over 50 mph the second time because thats when I felt it). Waited yet again another all day in the shop about 8 hours (I called them, they told me they were just about to call me and they just finished) - then had the DECENCY to tell ME to hurry up and get there by 7pm!! I get there after spend more money on an Uber all day to and from work only to find my jeep had been parked in the lot across from them completely cold and temperature gage was at Cold definitely knew THEY DIDNT DO ONE THING the second time around all day. Still vibrated and shaked all the way home tonight. I am so disheartened at the anxiety they cause me having to leave work early 2 days, wasted my own time from work and money from Uber as well as $1,000 for now having to take it to my original place I should have had it towed to - 36 miles away - but definitely would have been worth every penny more than this place ever will be. You bet your money I will be having all of my co-workers, family & friends downtown spread the word about this place.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid was overheating for some reason, I went to the shop and the Supervisor just look to the hose clamp, changed it for $10. Never overheated or was in need for antifreeze again.

Didnt get the name of the mechanic who helped me but he was very nice and friendly!! I went in to get a tire replaced. Total cost was only $40 and it was done in no time at all, really felt like 5-10 minutes tops. Im glad this place is only a block away from me in midtown!

I took my car here on 1.31.13 when my car had a tie rod end snap inside of a Wayne State parking garage. Generally I work on my own car but given the winter temperatures and my current schedule I took it to University Auto based on a suggestion of a friend who has had work done in here in the past.Overall I wouldnt hesitate to recommend University Auto to someone else! Yaya(one of the two managers) was able to get me in and back on the road within an afternoon. The price was fair and he gave me a first time customer discount but I think they provide discounts to students according to their business card. As a car guy I dont really trust any shop but Yaya was very personable with me(he happened to own the same car as me too!) and gave me a sense of confidence many other shops wouldnt! He also accommodated my request on getting my preferred brand for the replacement part. If youre in a pinch, need your car fixed and live in the Midtown/Woodbridge/WSU area take your car here!

Online their hours say they open at 7am but on there front door it says they open at 7:30 everyday except for Mondays. Regardless, its 8:02 am and while the open sign is on all of the gates and doors are locked. I came here on a recommendation but so far it doesnt look good
