Todd Decker was an great person to work with, amazing communication, and he went above and beyond for me. I truly appreciate him.I had some troubles getting my Extended Warranty cancelled, took 10 weeks of constant phone calls to the warranty company and the dealership.The issues that I had with the Extended Warranty was solved by the GM Matt, who did a great job taking control of the situation and getting everything smoothed out.I got a great car, for a good deal. I’d highly recommend Todd, if you’re looking for a car.

If you call and nobody answers, you have to leave a voicemail (happened several times), then nobody EVER RETURNS YOUR CALL!!Today I actually got to talk to a person about a problem that I have with our 2020 CRV. She told me I can look it up in my owners manual and if that doesnt help, just Google it. Seriously, the vehicle was purchased new from Smart Honda and only has 10, 000 miles on it and thats all the help you can give!?HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM DAY 1!! I like the Honda but WILL NEVER BUY FROM SMART HONDA AGAIN!!!

When we purchased our brand new 2018 Pilot, the Sales treated us fantastic and love this vehicle. After about a year we started having issues with the audio cracking noise when recieving phones calls. Wasnt long after that we recieved a Factory recall pertaining this is exact issue which was related to a connector behind the dash. So we called Smart Honda of Des Moines to get scheduled in to replace the connector. We had to wait for about month to get in and after getting scheduled in for this repair, brought the vehical in and waited for 1.5 hours only for them to come out and tell me they tore dash apart and to find they did not have the connector to fix the issue. Expressing my frustration we went ahead an rescheduled another appointment. 4 months later we brought the vehical back and they fixed my original problem but in the procees cracked my screen protector in the process which was not a big deal and they gave me a $25 voucher to use in their parts department. So we went home and about 4 weeks later found that the seat heater appears to be left unplugged so here we are back yet again to repair that. I am a really patient person but driving 160 miles round trip from home to dealer my patience is wearing thin. I love the product however service after sale has been rather disappointing to say the least. Not sure I will be back. Does not seem to be a very organized Service and Parts Department.

Bought a crv from Dalton a few months ago and I can not recommend him more. He did a fantastic job with the sale, communication, transparency etc.5/5 heck 6/5 for DaltonUnfortunately, we took the car in for an oil change and gave the car a free car wash(indicated not to).This is by far the worst car wash I have ever seen. The car actually looks worse after the wash and is covered in scratches. Any corner that they could miss, they did. Also ended up pulling up one of the plastic trims by the rear tire and left some insane staining on the rear tire side wall.Photos of the car arent right after but look at how all the corners and divots basically werent cleaned.0/5.I dont know how someone can screw a car wash up so bad but it definitely has me in doubts on the credibility of their technicians.

My wife and I just purchased a used 2011 Honda Pilot. Throughout the process of looking for cars our salesperson, Matt Norman, stayed in communication to let us know what he had available and was very open to us stopping by to look over the vehicle and test drive. When it came time to purchase the vehicle Matt was very calm and laid back. I would describe him as the opposite of a pushy salesperson. He also took time to answer all of our questions and even send us pictures of the work summary performed by Hondas mechanics via text message. When we agreed on the price of the vehicle it felt like a win-win for us and for Honda as well, which is what I feel like a sale should be. We had been involved in other sales that fell through because we could tell the dealer/salesperson wasnt willing to listen to us. Matt is a great listener, communicator, and salesperson who I would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, used Honda.

Im October, my 83 year old Father that still drives was in need of a used minivan. I purchased a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country Limited from Smart Honda for $6200, plus fees. The van ended up being a LEMON and Smart Honda was not willing to do anything to help. Just over three months later we realized that the van had mechanical issues that couldnt be pinpointed for repair.The minivan sat for thirty days at my Fathers while he decided that there were too many options on the van and it was more complicated than he would like. I started driving the van and it would randomly die every couple of weeks while going down the road. Thank God that he didnt accept the minivan from me. This minivan is apparently known for this dying issue and the problems generally cant be resolved. We changed out most of the parts that were common known problems to no avail.I explained the issue to the used car sales manager at Smart Honda and asked if they would be willing to buy it back at my loss and just sell it at the auction. He said no that would be a lot of hassle. He suggested that I sell the minivan to CarMax.I ended up selling the van last week to a Private Party. I didnt really need the vehicle at this point and I couldnt rely on it as safe transportation. I didnt want to have any of the potential buyers end up with my same issue of not knowing. I explained the issues up front to the buyer and sold the Chrysler for $2250. That was a loss of $3950 for my savings account. Im sure Smart Honda could of bought this vehicle back for $3500 and still made money on me again?Smart Honda did nothing to help! I was planning on buying a new Honda from them in the future, but will make sure to buy a Chevy now.Save yourself a hassle and dont purchase a used vehicle from Smart Honda. They really arent worried about the customer!

I bought a used Honda Civic over a year ago. I was helped by Gary, who was helpful at the beginning of the process, but when it came for paying for the vehicle, the Smart Honda team was incredibly rude. The individual helping me with the paperwork initially mischarged me (which I thankfully caught in time) but seemed annoyed when I pointed this out and she had to reprint everything. I also paid cash for entire vehicle and processing fees, but Smart Honda apparently cannot give cash back so I was promised a check to be sent to me in the mail with the correct amount due back to me. THIS WAS APRIL 2020 AND I HAVE NOT RECIEVED THAT CHECK. I reached out to Gary and Smart Honda about 6 months after purchasing my car (I figured I would give them some time) and was told they would look into it. I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING SINCE. Also, when I was about to drive the car off the lot, I noticed a nail in the tire. After some lengthy discussion, they agreed to patch the hole. This experience still bothers me as I refuse to go back to have them service my car and I still have heard nothing about my refund. I would recommend going someplace where they will treat you with respect DURING and AFTER the process.

Appointment at 7 am. Asked at 11 by text if they could proceed. At 140 had to ask where my salesman was had not talked to me for over six hours. Beautiful reception called me a Uber and found out how much longer. For over 800 and 7 hours with appointment. Still waiting.

In March I tried to get a $1000.00 refund for a warranty purchased on a care I bought from them only seven months earlier. The sales mgr. said on April 28 the check has been mailed. Still nothing and I cant get Aaron to see me when I go in, answer my voice mails or emails. I dont get it, I was a repeat customer and now they are acting totally unprofessional. I will never do business with them again and to this day I still have not gotten a response from them or a check and I have been more than patient.

Coming here for service, I use got new Honda Accord and have some sound not right on passenger windows, call to making appointments but the they I coming they can’t find me on system BUT service manager Cole very professional, he driving with me to find out problem and fix it . Amazing Service! Dusty Rhoades and the team at Smart Honda were fantastic. The best car buying experience I have ever encountered. I highly recommend Smart Honda and will be a customer for life. I booked a service appointment in advance for 3:45 on a Thursday. I got a call at 12:45 on the date of my appointment telling me that they couldn’t keep my appointment and I would have to reschedule for next week. I asked about just getting to it the next day they stated no. So the other appointments for early Friday didn’t get pushed back just mine. No explanation as to why other appointments after mine could be kept but mine had to be pushed back. Really felt like let’s push the Hispanic guys appointment but let the other customers keep theirs. Why they waited until a few hours before my appointment to cancel and than nit give me an option for a week is beyond me. Also Robin was one of the rudest people I have ever talked to. Will most likely never do business their again.

Took my car for an oil change and an inspection after they inspected my car they recommended several additional services. I added several of these services along with the oil change got my car back and had a light come on . I had to take it back to see what the problem is they stated what the reason was and fixed it no charge, but when I received my car back it was still running funny . My car didnt have any problems before and now i can feel it vibrate when parked and it feels like the alignment they was quite successful . If you want your car to be returned to you in the same condition I recommend having it fixed somewhere else. I had high hopes that a Honda dealership would be able to service a Honda car,but apparently I was wrong .

I had purchased a vehicle from another dealership out of state. I had an issue with the AC. I contacted Smart Honda, and Brea Burgess helped me with everything getting it fixed. Brea had the part ordered, let me know when it was ordered and when it came in, she set up the appointment to have my car brought in, and called when it was done.Brea was so good to answer any questions I had, returned phone calls answering questions, regardless of how busy she was she always was there! Breas personality tops it! She was always cheerful and happy regardless. Gotta love her!!

Large inventory to choose from, website is easy to navigate, sales people are easy to deal with and knowledgeable (I worked with Clay and he was great). I felt like I was in control of the selection/evaluation process and there was no pressure to commit or move faster than I wanted. ThisIs my third Honda and they are great vehicles. I have had three CRVs and now I upgraded to a Pilot. Love the ride and got surprisingly good mileage with a V-6.

Great.... Even though they are upgrading their building, service was quick and very polite. Which is made better because (1) they are booked for weeks but they fit me in. (2) They told me 3 hours till they were done... I stayed to wait. I was about to go on a walk when I was stopped and told the car was done, 2 hours early. (3) I was kind of a d$ck. No I was not thinking this at the time, but I did exhibit di#kish behavior. Such as not taking my headphones out when I was driving into the shop. Safety Hazzard too BTW. Also I came in expecting a lower price and may have blamed them for it. Later I was told by my wife (who did the research on it) that not only was it fair. It was cheaper then she expected. (4) Small thing... Free carwash. It was filthy folks, outside I mean. But now it matched the inside.So maybe my broken mirror isnt 7 years bad luck. Idk... Check them out.

Took my vehicle here to get a shaky steering wheel diagnosed and the oil changed. They tried to charge me over $3000 for the repair work. Got a second opinion from another mechanic. One of the issues was a real problem (timing belt tensioner), which they corrected for substantially less money. But Smart Honda also tried to sell me new brakes and rotors for all wheels telling me that they had completely failed inspection and needed immediate replacement. New mechanic tells me the front brakes have 50% life left and the back brakes have 60% life left. Front rotors were warped and those were fixed to correct the shaky steering wheel issue. Total cost came out to $1100. This isnt the first time Ive seen questionable tactics employed by Smart Honda, but it will be the last. I will not be returning.

I had a tire almost come off the vehicle on the road, the tires had been balanced and rotated on its last service work over 5000 miles ago which I understand is not normal for lug nuts to come loose but they did. They said they would only cover the parts and not the service work. I have bought 2 brand new vehicles and had all recommended service work done to those vehicles so I feel like I was a valued customer but to haggle over service work to lose me is crazy. I have to say, going into a dealership is daunting. Not only that but as a consumer you already have the expectation that they are going to nickel and dime you for everything.At Smart Honda I never felt that way. Lou was amazing and attentive. Listened to all I wanted and needed in a car. Even went out and found the car I wanted, in the color I wanted, and brought it to the Des Moines location. He sat with me and went over everything that the car had to offer and showed me how to use the technology.He took the time to make sure I was happy with everything. Stopping a few times mid conversation to ask if this is what I wanted. I have never had that interaction with a salesman at a car dealership.Lous attentiveness has me sold on coming back to Smart Honda in the future when I need another car.Brenda in financing was amazing as well. She made sure I understood everything I was signing and went over all the warranties very thoroughly. We bought a car from here and we were told from one of the little dealers that work here that the DOT would understand if the plates hadn’t arrived. It’s been over 3 months and the plates still have not arrived. The DOT was not cooperative and they did not help.

On a Friday, late in the afternoon, my 2020 Honda Passport suddenly had 5 warning messages. I called the dealership and they told me to bring it in so they could evaluate it with their computer to at least determine if it was safe to drive. I was happy they answered the phone so late in the day on a Friday, and they were willing to squeeze me in before they closed. Then it just kept getting better from there! While I was waiting for help, several employees greeted me to make sure I was being helped. The service staff and the mechanics evaluated the situation, explained to me it was 2 new recalls, one had already been fixed by wifi while I was there, and the other one needed to be fixed by a mechanic technician. I was able to wait or leave the car overnight, and they had someone who could fix it before they closed, so I waited. They estimated 45 minutes, and it only took 15 minutes! Everyone was so nice, and they communicated well among each other. Best experience there ever!

Highest priced service in Des Moines metro. I took my vehicle to another garage and was quoted about $1000 less for the same repairs quoted by SMART Honda. I also did a web search on the exact repairs quoted by SMART and found that they were above the highest price on the web search for each individual repair. I took my vehicle to the other garage and they actually said that some of the repairs recommended by SMART were not actually needed and they showed me why and I agreed with them. Beware of SMART Honda service. It pays to find a garage you can trust.

Applied for a job there multiple times. Manager was super rude, to me and customer when I stopped in. Told the manager I was hungry and ready to make a lot of money. He said, obviously your hungry you dont have a job. 1st off I had a job but was looking to transition. Just dont think they hire minorities. Not one minority on there staff if you look on there honda page. I have a very great sales track record and this is the 1st time Ive applied at a dealership and beeen turned down more than 3 times. Maybe you guys should think about adding a more diverse staff. Its 2021😶😌😪

My service advisor (Joshua Smith) was great. However, the quality of the vehicle maintenance department is unacceptable. We brought my wifes 2019 Honda Pilot in for a simple engine oil change on 17 August. On 18 August we noticed engine oil on our garage floor. I confirmed the engine oil drain plug was loose with oil dripping continuously. Josh had us bring the vehicle back on 19 August and immediately got the vehicle into the repair shop. Approximately 30 minutes later he returned with the mechanic. Per Josh, this was the same mechanic who serviced the vehicle on 17 August. Ive attached a copy of the service note whereby Josh explains to the mechanic the problem is a loose engine oil drain plug.The mechanic said he had cleaned the drain pan of the vehicle and that there was a “piece of plastic which had to be removed”. He claimed they were very busy on 17 August when he conducted the oil change and neglected to clean the undercarriage of the vehicle. I asked the mechanic if the oil drain plug was loose but he said it was tight and he did not have to tighten it. I then asked Josh if any other mechanic worked on the vehicle from the time I brought it back on 19 August (30 minutes prior). Josh and the mechanic both said no. I explained to the mechanic I had personally checked the drain plug and confirmed it was loose just prior to bringing in back to Smart Honda on 19 August to ensure it wouldn’t fall out during the drive to the dealership. Further, I explained engine oil would not continuously drip from a drain plug if he simply neglected to clean the undercarriage. Again the mechanic claimed the drain plug was properly torqued with no further explanation.Smart Honda of West Des Moines has a mechanic working for them who lacks integrity and proper attention to detail when it comes to performing their job. I was frankly astounded the mechanic had the audacity to lie directly to my face. I have no concerns with Mr. Joshua Smith as he was professional and attentive throughout the experience.

Service department did good job servicing the vehicle, but Smart Honda does NOT require customers or team members outside the service department to wear masks. I will not return or recommend to others unless masks are required. Also shuttle team made me wait 30-45 minutes before they called Uber.

Steve Fulton and Smart Honda were great to work with. Steve had setup a lease for my fiancé and I just took a look through their lot after she closed her lease on Friday and saw a Civic hatchback that I liked. We got back in touch with Steve and he got a deal worked up for me to close on Monday. He even came in on his day off so I could close my lease in order to get it into the last day of the current incentives. I would definitely recommend Steve and Smart Honda!

He took the time to explain the meany features of my new Honda Pilot. And I specifically appreciated his detailed tutorial of the “insides” - as all of the electronics and their functions can sometimes be a bit overwhelming to learn. During these uncertain times, I was not sure how Smart Honda would handle the reception of my vehicle and how I would pick it up after servicing. I worried for nothing. All employees wore masks and were careful as far as social distancing. They sanitized my vehicle after servicing and payment was very easy. We were on the way home to Dallas with the wife, baby, dog, and our new Odyssey. We had a window that was down about 1/2 inch and wouldnt work. Stopped on a Monday morning and told them what the problem was. Josh got us in immediately, let us sit in the waiting area with Daisy ( the dog) and they had diagnosed the window problem and gotten it fixed in less than 90 minutes. LOVE THIS PLACE! I stopped in to fix my car heater as I was travelling from Texas to Wisconsin. They first said I needed an appointment and would need to leave the car. Then they had a mechanic come out to me where I was in line for service. The mechanic magically touched something under the hood and my heater was working again, and I got back on the road and continued my trip. Excellent, immediate service, and they didnt even charge me. It doesnt get any better than that.

Their service department is a No Go. The took 5 hours to do an oil change. Then when we went to get it it took 20 minutes for them to even bring it up front. I could have changed the oil in 15 cars in the time they took doing hers.

Smart Honda is by far the best experience Ive ever had at a dealership.I came in to Smart Honda from out of town to help my daughter with her first lease. She had been working with a salesman, Dalton Johnson, for a few months and waiting for the right time to pull the trigger.When we went in, little did I know Id also walk out with a new lease!Dalton is a miracle worker! Went for an oil change for my Odyssey and when I went in I had low tire pressure sign up. The technician is supposed to check the tire pressure (at least thats what it said on the evaluation sheet), but when I picked it up, the sign was still up. I talked to one of the associates and he told me to drive it around and it will go away. Long story short, I had to come back to get the tires to the right pressure. Things like this make me wonder what more was missed..
