Great price great service for a great price. I had quotes from 5 different moving companies and their quote was the most competitive and their staff was very courteous specially our driver. He was very careful but also very fast.
After a Zoom estimate meeting and multiple phone calls, I was on Johnsons schedule to move on 10/29, and was told that a moving coordinator would be calling me several days before to confirm the details. When I called to follow up on 10/26, they informed me that I was not on the schedule and the paperwork for my move wasnt sent to the correct department. 3 days before Im supposed to move, I find out that the moving company cant do it! Talk about getting screwed. I would highly caution against hiring Johnson Movers.
This review is in relation to a cross-country move, from Denver CO to Baltimore MD, in October 2020. We waited until now to post a review, as we were hoping to have some resolution of the damages incurred. However, as of today, August 5th 2021, we are still waiting for resolution. We signed an agreement with Mayflower Moving company to carry out our full service move. As part of that agreement, we upgraded to (and paid for) the full replacement insurance option. ***A quick note: apparently, Mayflower subcontracts their pickup and delivery services, so you potentially will have multiple different people handling your belongings at different stages of the moves. In this case, the pickup was handled in Denver by Johnson Storage & Moving.Long story short, the move was a disaster.Everything seemed to start out well. We had everything packed and ready for pickup as scheduled. Everything was loaded onto the truck and we then began our drive.First off, the delivery was late by a day outside the delivery window. Not terrible, just a little annoying as we had a 5 day window to begin with. The issues were uncovered at delivery time - multiple boxes were crushed and carefully packed items in the boxes damaged. Some of the boxes were very strong wardrobe style boxes with the metal hanging bar at the top and even those were collapsed. Several furniture items (an armchair, an end table, a console table etc.) were damaged beyond use. An expensive Casper Wave mattress (which was bagged) somehow got water damage that was resulting in mold spots, as well as what looked like dirty boot prints. Something similar occurred to a large, expensive area rug that had been professionally cleaned and wrapped prior to the move,We discovered after the pickup, that the items were unloaded from the truck and repacked into wooden moving pods at a different site. We suspect (but cannot prove) that this is where the damages happened. The damage is consistent with a crushing blow. Either something dropped onto them, or the items were themselves dropped from a height. Obviously, items were left out where the ground was also wet.We immediately contacted Mayflower and the Denver local representative. The Denver office arranged for $100 reimbursement for the single day delay. We were then instructed to file a claim through their corporate claims team. The immediate offer was $500; however as estimated damages were closer to $4500, we declined that and proceeded to file a claim. This claim went to Claims Team 2 at Unigroup.Since October, this claims team has been incredibly incompetent. They have lost the photos sent multiple times, they have lost paperwork. They seemed to be unaware that we had full value replacement, and for example offered $150 in compensation for a $2500 mattress. They only assessed a small fraction of the damaged items, even though the local assessor took pictures of everything and documented everything. As a result, the assessor had to come back and do it all over again. To date, they have offered only $525 in compensation. At this point, its difficult to believe that they are quite this incompetent - it seems too deliberate, a ploy to get people to give up.This is not what we expected when going with a big name company that supposedly had a good reputation. This has been, and is, a nightmare. I have never had a move go so badly and in 20+ years, Ive moved at least 18 times, including cross country several times. I could not ever recommend Mayflower or any of its subcontractors for a move, particularly long distance. Our belongings, some of whom we had had over 20 years, were destroyed and they are refusing to do the right thing. Avoid at all costs.
Im sure theyre fine. Just wasnt a match for my small sized move. Associate Ethan was very nice and helpful.
Moving is stressful and pretty much an awful experience. From beginning to end Johnson and United did exactly as promised. The follow through was consistent and often. The pricing and the coordination of the move were perfect and exactly what we wanted. Our driver was the best and did exactly as he told us he would. We feared the worst and got the best. What more can you ask for...
I followed them from a mountain town for 2 hours unto denver!! So happy with the drivers. Very careful and safe.
I had a great experience with these movers. My driver was the best at his job and I am very happy to have had him moving me out of state. Great people and quality work.
Johnson Storage was a vendor that worked with us through our moving company. They were organized on our departing city (New Orleans) and contacted us upon our arrival to our arrival city (Denver) to coordinate arrival, unpacking and assembly of a high-quality/expensive piece of furniture we moved cross country. The table had a marble top and concrete base, and they handled it all extremely carefully, packed it successfully so nothing broke/scratched, and even showed up early (note during a snow storm!) to unpack the table and assemble it for us. They were awesome and so helpful!! And knowing they were taking care of this piece of furniture that means so much to my husband and I, allowed us to worry about one less thing. Thank you!!
Johnson was by far the best moving experience Ive had. Attention to detail. Wrapped things better than even I would have done. Very competitive price and sufficient moving staff. The only problem was that our couch was damaged. Johnson promptly compensated us within two weeks.
We were scheduled to move on a Friday. They texted me on Wednesday and said they would call on Thursday beween 3:30 and 4:30 to tell us what time they would arrive on Friday. They didnt call so I texted and called the move organizer. He didnt respond. I called Friday morning and they said they OVERLOOKED our move. There was no way they could do it as scheduled. Then I said we expected a significant discount and was told she didnt think they would do that.
They under promised and over delivered. Our driver Toby Sturgill was efficient, proficient and an overall great guy. Our furniture arrived in great shape and placed where we wanted. Our move coordinator Judy Beatty was always available and kept me informed. I was skeptical but they made a believer out of me. They CAN be trusted!
We had to move our offices over a holiday weekend. The staff and crew at Johnson were excellent and the price was very reasonable. The move was accomplished in a matter of hours without any drama. The crew was not only very professional, but they cheerfully accommodated some last minutes adjustments that we had to make. Very much appreciately, highly recommended!
Great price great service and great customer service, how could you go wrong?! I had quotes from 5 different moving companies and their quote was the most competitive and their staff was very courteous specially Victoria and Belinda. And together with the moving staff they made this by far the best experience weve ever had.Thank you.
The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The crew that moved our entire 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom home were very professional and took extra care of our property as if it were their own. The move took most of the day, the crew stood friendly to us and was very conscientious of the time. I will most definitely recommend this company to my friends and colleagues. Angie
Very upset with this company......Their drivers are very lazy. The owners have no respect for the laws of our state..... State law requires ALL vehicles to have the snow removed from their vehicles before driving on the roads. Did Johnson Storage and Moving obey the law??????? No! During a recent storm in Connecticut their truck United Van Lines owned by Johnson Storage and Moving in Denver Colorado license plate A5886 did not clean their truck and as a result the flying ice from their truck hit my windshield, cracking it and almost sent me into the guard rail. I called the company and was informed their insurance does not cover this type of damage. If you can not follow our rules.....Stay out of our State! As for the owners of this company...... you should pay better attention to your staff, drivers and insurance policies. Step up to the plate and do the right thing! If a company turns their back on these issue....What else do they turn their back on....Check their policy if you would ever consider them for a move.... Remember....Movers are a dime a dozen. There are a lot more companies to Choose From
Eric was wonderful to work with. He was very understanding of our last-minute cross-country move and went out of his way to help make a stressful situation much better. He not only helped us with the transportation of our household items; he gave us a very good and reliable reference for transportation of our vehicle. He answered our phone calls every time and had the answers to our questions. Our items were picked up, shipped cross country and delivered to our door on the date that was listed as the earliest arrival date, in excellent condition. We were very impressed!
Our driver, Andrew was fabulous! Belinda, the coordinator......was always there to answer questions and provide information. loading and unloading went very smoothly. I would highly recommend Johnson (Colorado Springs) to anyone
Johnsons moved me from Chicago to Denver - great service and experience - highly recommend!
We recently moved back to Atlanta from Denver. We had used United to move out to CO the first time, and had a flawless move, so I didnt hesitate to call Johnson the local agent in Denver. We had a first-rate experience from Victoria G. in sales and estimating, our move coordinator, Belinda M., to our driver Scott R. and his assistant Mike. Total satisfaction with nary a broken glass or box missing.I totally believe that if you treat your crew with respect, buy them lunch, offer water, (a nice tip helps also) etc., that they will take a vested interest in handling your cargo with care...just saying...
Loved everything about the door to door service! The staff kept in touch through the entire process. It was a similar price to other pod like services except they provided pick-up and drop-off help. Everyone treated our belongings with care and made sure they were placed in the right place in our home! I would highly recommend them!
They did a great job of packing and unpacking. Polite and cheerful and capable. I would definitely use them again. Took excellent care of all possessions and both locations.
The guys were very efficient, friendly and quick.
They were professional, and well organized. It was an easy process and their team was there any time I had a question about the process.
The crew and driver were shorthanded but exceeded our expectations by doing their job plus extending themselves when needed to make our move a success.
Johnson Storage and Moving Co. moved me from Denver, Colo. to Durham, NC within the last week. This was my 16 th move (United VanLines having made many of them for me). My basis for comparison is extensive therefore. This current move was handled flawlessly from start to finish !!!! They were prompt, courteous, and thorough in each of their jobs. Nothing was broken or lost.I would definitely have them move me again.
We did a containerized move (i.e., we didnt need an entire moving van) of family-heirloom furniture from Denver to Manhattan in March 2016, and were very pleased with Johnson. Once we finally settled on a list of items--and thus a fixed cost for the move--the rep we worked with, Eric, was efficient and straightforward. We didnt want to waste his time, and he seemed interested in not wasting ours, so once we got serious about the list of items, convenient dates, and paperwork, things moved very swiftly and efficiently. On the Denver side, the crew of two were professional and polite, and wrapped the furniture extremely well. It took about three weeks from when the crew departed Denver for our move to arrive in Manhattan, and we understood that. The delivery date did change a couple of times, and the delivery window changed, but we were aware in advance that that might happen and it didnt create a problem. On both the Denver and Manhattan side (Johnsons NYC affiliate is Suddath Relocation, based in Wayne, NJ), crews arrived on time and worked quickly. There was no damage to any of our items (including a 2 x 5 foot mirror), and there was never any change in the first agreed-upon cost. We were pleasantly shocked by how smoothly things went, and wouldnt hesitate to recommend them highly to friends and family in Denver.
Johnson Storage & Moving seamlessly handled our recent cross country move, and wed highly recommend this full service company! Our move was complicated, first including the temporary move to storage (Johnson Storages facility) of several large furniture items, so that our home could be properly staged for selling. The crew then joined these items to the main shipment on moving day.A day prior to moving, a crew of packers came in and expertly boxed up our household, including the fragile contents of our china cabinet, kitchen and decor. Another crew came in to crate the large, fragile items (big screen TV, glass fireplace, large oil painting, grandfather clock).Upon delivery, the destination crew also delivered our extra items into a local storage facility for us.All was completed professionally, efficiently and without any breakage.Besides being friendly and respectful, Johnson Storage & Movings staff stands out to me for their can do attitude - and they were able to meet my particular timing, even with the cross country haul.
We paid Johnson $2200 to move us 6 miles. It took the movers 10 hours to move us, and we had to help in order to get it done. The movers also damaged some of furniture and some trim on our stairs. Initially Johnson was very responsive, but that ended quickly. It has been a month and our stairs were just repaired by someone qualified ( they originally sent someone who repaired them poorly). We still arent sure what is going on with our furniture claim and no one from Johnson will return my emails or calls. Do yourself a favor and hire cheap movers. That way if they break something you didnt pay a ton of money for the move.
THE WORST EXPERIANCE EVER!!!!!!I selected this moving company after much research. We were moving from Denver, CO to Playa del Carman Mexico and I wanted to be sure that my things made it safly but most importantly for my peace of mind. So we went with a large moving company that quoted the phrase Door To Door Service believing we would receive GREAT results and service. BOY WAS I WRONG! This moving experiance was a total nightmare. It all started out good, but once the got all of our money, almost $14,000.00 it all went very wrong. No one would return my calls, they had zero follow through and follow up. That was the good part! When things got really bad I was put in touch with the so called VP of operations, some guy named Alex Smith, he was a total joke. I dont even think that is his real name.....There were so many things that went wrong, if I tried to list them all I would be writing a book!!! So all I will say is if you are moving out of the country or anywhere and need a moving company......DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY!!!!! DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!!!I have moved all over the USA including Alaska. This was my first international move. Its scary and I just wanted someone I could trust. This company is not trustworthly. PLEASE DONT FALL INTO THEIR TRAP OF LIES.If anyone is interested I can prove my statements with many email and conversations between Alex and others in this orginization. In the end all I wanted was $1000.00 in a refund for all my problems, including $120.00 in a overnight fee I had to pay because they waited till the very last minute to inform me I need an additional document to the moving company in Califorina or I would miss the window to get my things on a truck to Mexico. They would not even do that. There Door to Door Service ment I had to invest more money at every trun or they would hold on to my things in Mexico Do not support this type of business.Good luck on your move.
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.Its too bad we did not see the bad reviews on yelp before we hired Johnson. We had a horrible experience with our move and Johnson refuses to admit that they did anything wrong. Their scheduling does not happen until the last minute, and then when the one time they offered us for delivery did not work for us, they charged us a bunch of money to hold our items. We were hung up on while trying to sort out the issue and told that our concerns we not worthy of letting us talk to a manager. We have received nothing but terrible customer service even though the men who did the hard work were very nice to us.
I dont even know where to start. First, Richard the sales rep came to look at the location and exactly what we were planning on moving. He told me he would send me quote by the following day. I heard nothing. I sent him an email and he stated he would send it that day. Still nothing. I called and left multiple phone calls including leaving a message with his boss. Heard nothing. Horrible bussines practice! Thank god I had a back up plan for another moving company.
Super crew, led by Will--------and kudos to Errick and Randy as well. Belinda was a true pro---getting my pickup earlier than was expected (by finding an opening in the sched and making it nearly a month earlier); to letting me know when the crew was loading up, to when they were on their way! Thanks Johnson....JB
Caution! Paid 4000USD for moving our household goods from TX, USA to the Netherlands, Europe. After a customs inspection in the US they sent us an invoice of 2700USD we were responsible for, and they forced us to pay quickly even if we dont have this money available. After paying those charges as well the container arrived 2 months too late at port of destination and now they will not release the container because they want us to pay for another 11.000USD!!! these charges according to Johnson are detention and demurrage charges related to the customs inspection. Who will believe that a customs inspection in the US will change the agreed service of 4000 usd to total of 17000 usd? Costs will rise each day the container is at the terminal and they are not replying to emails anymore or are very rude. We have already paid 7000usd and have nothing, they threaten us with auctioning our goods if we dont pay for those 11000usd. This business is a scam, they dont advise you in time of costs they already know so they can force you to pay quickly. Our goods are inside the container, they will not release it to us, and we already paid 7000usd. Now we even have to make more charges by hiring a lawyer.
HORRIBLE!!!!! LOCAL COMPANY 1936 NW LOWER SILVER LAKE ROAD TOPEKA, KS. DO NOT USE. THEY WILL OVER CHARGE YOU. MR ZABOKRTSKY TALKED TO ME LIKE I WAS A DOG!!! I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT HE WAS IN HIS LATE 50S EARLY 60S. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT HE WOULDNT HAVE KNOWN ANY BETTER. THEY OVER CHARGED ME ACCORDING TO THE FOREMAN TRAVIS COCHRAN. I HAD TO RENT A UHAUL TO MOVE THE ITEMS THAT THE PACKERS DIDNT PACK AND THE MOVERS DIDNT PUT ON THE TRUCK. I SPENT SO MUCH TIME BEING BERATED BY MR ZABOKRTSKY ABOUT BEING TOLD BY THE MOVING FOREMAN, MR TRAVIS COCHRAN THAT I WAS BEING OVER CHARGED BY AT LEAST 1500.00 OR MORE THAT I OVERLOOKED THE ITEMS THAT THE MOVERS HAD FAILED TO PUT ON THE TRUCK, MOSTLY OUTSIDE FURNITURE. THE MOVERS REFUSED TO MOVE THE ITEMS THAT THE PACKERS DIDNT PACK. THE ESTIMATOR IS JUST THAT PEOPLE.... AND THAT MEANS THE TABLET THAT SHE PUTS THE INFORMATION INTO MAKES THE MISTAKES NOT HER. THE ONLY OVER ESTIMATION THAT I WAS TOLD WAS THAT SHE ESTIMATED THAT THE BOOKS THAT AT FINAL FIT INTO 2 BOXES WOULD HAVE NEEDED 18.I WAS THREATENED THAT MY HOUSE HOLD GOODS WOULD BE UNLOADED ON MY DRIVEWAY AND THEY WOULD DRIVE OFF IF I DIDNT GIVE THE CHECK THAT I WAS TOLD TO HAVE BASED OFF OF THE ESTIMATE, WHICH WAS OVER, OR I WOULD GIVE THEM CASH.THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE BECAUSE I HAVE CANCER AND I WAS PROMISED A STRESS FREE MOVE. THIS WAS ANYTHING BUT STRESS FREE AND I HAVE BEEN SO SICK. I WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN. IF YOU ARE ASKING WHY I DIDNT HAVE FAMILY HELP OUT AND DO THIS FOR ME... I DONT HAVE FAMILY THAT LIVE IN KANSAS. TRUELY NEEDED HELP AND GOT TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.
Johnson Storage & Moving provided very good service with moving.
