The store is smaller than the previous building. Its fine, because any book lover will love this store. Its quaint, quiet and they have a nice selection of books. We love it. The staff are always helpful if you need assistance. Although, you have to look around a bit to find them. Thank you!

Little shop. Note that this is not the same one as shown in the pictures. This is about 250 sq ft. Very tiny inside union station. The other location down the street is better and bigger but they used to have a really nice location. Both are just ehh now and I don’t touch anything on Colfax so forget the other one.

I wish I could give more than five stars. This store is not only beautiful, with all of the wooden architecture, but its also so pleasant to go there. The staff is incredibly helpful and superbly knowledgeable. I went today to find some books in particular on Buddhist teachings. I received a list of recommendations (with in depth reasons on why they recommended those) from the woman manning the front. When she had to leave to return, she recommended another associate. He and I discussed more books in depth and even touched on our own personal experiences and why he recommended those books. I was in a hurry and stressed from work. I left the bookstore feeling relaxed and refreshed. Theyre moving to a new location a few blocks away. I really hope the new interior is as beautiful, although the staff alone make the experience complete.

This is a wonderful place to spend time amongst its books and authors. Quite a huge independent bookstore in a historical building and many complementary items to keep one amused. This is not a 5 minute stop to appreciate their efforts. Allow time to browse and enjoy. Parking is complicated in the evenings as it is all over the Union Station area. We were lucky and found street meter parking for a buck/hour a block away. See pics for the beauty and enjoy a beverage or snack while there. Definitely a must visit while in Denver.

What a delightful experience! ............A beautiful brick building, shelves with a vast array of books to choose from, supporter of local businesses and a place that goes the extra mile to ensure COVID precautions are followed. 😷There was also a particular staffer who had mad wrapping skills! She was bubbly with positive energy and thoughtfully offered to wrap the gifts I purchased. They were such pretty little packages! What more could you ask for in a hands on shopping experience, in the heart of Downtown Denver? 😄

I really liked this bookstore. It is a spacious and comfortable space. Perfect for a day browsing books. They have comfortable chairs spread throughout the store. The only criticism I have is that there are books labeled “staff picks” in almost every section of the store except for Romance which seemed a little sexist to me.

Absolutely loved my visit to the Tattered Cover bookstore. It is large and spacious, and has generous, comfortable seating to sit and enjoy a book. It is designed to encourage an extended, relaxing visit, which is both wonderful and increasingly rare. I was subsequently able to purchase a delightful book about General Custer that I enjoyed greatly. If you have the opportunity, I very much encourage a visit here to support an amazing independent bookstore.

Friendly staff who are willing to help but dont ask you every 5 seconds if youre finding what youre looking for. I usually appreciate having this bookstore be a part of the Denver community, but I also cant overlook the poor response to current events. Its one thing to say nothing, but its something else entirely to blatantly take the side of the oppressors with your ambivalence, and its even worse to follow it up with a weak apology that reads of sorry you got mad at us. Do better. As an actual store, your selection is okay, but your used books are very limited if there are any at all, your staff is a little too prickly, and of the recent author events Ive attended in the past year, they are frequently unorganized, stressful, and a let down.Ill definitely be holding on to my money unless I see Tattered Cover ACTUALLY try to have a positive influence over the communities they claim to be part of.

You could spend hours reading here 📚😊. There are book sections for cooking, physics, spirituality, adventure, mystery, childrens books, anything you can think. The atmosphere just feels aged and academic. Even if youre not into reading, this is a great environment to be in to feel motivated and productive. And if you get a little hungry but dont want to put down that good book, theres a little pastry shop with a lot of nice treats that go well with reading. I have always wanted to visit this place whenever I drove past it or was visiting Union station. I finally got the chance to go the other week and it was amazing. I love the vintage rustic wooden feel given the history of the building its in. The smell of books fills the air along with a mix of delightful coffee as there is a little coffee/tea nook in the corner that is both relaxing and indulging while scanning the stacks for a good read. I thought it was more than one story like the one in Boulder off Pearl street. That was a little bit of a let down but still I love bookstores like this nonetheless.

This is a *huge*, beautiful bookstore in downtown Denver! Parking is a problem at times, but theres a parking lot directly across the street thats safe and cheaper than parking lots (pay per hour until 6p?, then its a flat fee of $15 until 6a? the following morning). The service here is good; they let you browse uninterrupted until you need help, then their knowledge and professionalism are top-notch.Their bathrooms are clean, as well. They have many, many rooms with books in every genre, as well as a big cards section and magazine section. The cards are all kept together, but the magazines are spread out over a few rooms, due to the main room also being used as a guest lecturer seating area, with 3 rows of really comfortable padded chairs in the back for anytime use. They also have a small cafe/snack area, although theres not always someone behind it to serve. You can also bring in water bottles.Theres some seating placed around the store, but mostly in the lecturer room or nearby, or in several of the more secluded rooms with the travel books. The store is very clean, so you can also sit and read on the floor if the mood strikes.I very highly recommend this store. It had a great section of books in every subject, like a usual bookstore, and also some magazines and books exclusive to Colorado, like 5280.I very highly recommend this store. Its Yelp and Google reviews are on point.
