This is truly one of those magical bookstores that you just want to keep coming back to. Its floor to ceiling with books, and the whole place has this beautiful warm, brown aesthetic to it. Also, the Science and Nature bookclub is held here, which Ive really loved! Shout-out to Andrea for hosting it!
This place doesn’t give out the restroom code for paying customers. I’m going to reverse every payment I’ve sent here. When you politely ask if they can match a non amazon prime price they get very rude, under new ownership i didn’t know if they did or not.
What a beautiful book store, it is every readers delight. The recommendations by employees were spot on, you can blindly pick them up. The ample seating all around the store got us wanting to spend an entire day lost in words!
Great store in a good location. Staff is super friendly and helpful! Could get lost in the looking at all the books and recommendations! The only complaint I had is the parking was a little bit of a challenge.
Felt just like we were back at the 16th Street location...but better! Great selection and friendly staff - thank you!
This is the best book store smack downtown. I always find lots of books here I didnt know I wanted.
I expected more used books and less new books. The used book section is quite small. But, the place is very clean and a nice place to browse. Friendly and helpful employees.
After so much hype, I expected more. A lot more. The selection here is so limited that you can look at places like this and its not hard to see how Amazon got its start offering selection for books. More of the store is devoted to external views than it is to books. Maybe it was better at its old location, or maybe the local clientele is more interested in being seen at a bookstore than going to a bookstore of quality and diverse selection. Either way, not worth the trip
Absolutely amazing store. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. Plus, they have literary themed beers! If you are visiting this is a spot you have to check out.
A pretty decent bookstore but I took a star away because of the location. It may be great for area walking traffic but its no kind of destination if youre intentionally looking for a bookstore. Parking in the area is atrocious and expensive
No quarrels with Tattered Cover, they were helpful and fun. But the parking was not a good experience -- we tried to leave after about 45 minutes, and had to sit on the ramp out of the garage for about 20 minutes until security came around to unlock the exits. Very frustrating
Have been supporting TC for 25+ years now, and even though weve moved away from Colorado, we always make a stop here anytime were in Denver. Unfortunately, our latest experience was a pretty huge disappointment. Had been looking for a specific book as a birthday gift for my partner and when I went online I saw there were 3 total copies available -- 2 at the Aspen Grove location and 1 at the McGregor location. As she had been looking for this book forever, I went ahead and bought it and specifically left detailed instructions to reserve the one copy at the McGregor location as a surprise for her to pick up on her birthday a few days later. But when she went in, she was just told that they didnt have any copies available. After 20+ minutes of confusion, they finally told her they would track down a copy and ship it to us -- at my cost, I assume. Hate to leave a negative review for a small business weve supported so much over the years, but this really ruined a birthday surprise -- and in the back of my head, I know that if I would have just ordered it off Amazon, shed be reading it right now...
Their collection of books is wonderful! This bookstore is very welcoming with a well picked used book section as well. The employees are all helpful and knowledgeable.
Beautiful bookstore. A few locations throughout town. Very centrally located and friendly customer service.
Great bookstore, very well stocked, knowledgeable staff, easy to find that one book you need to read.
Walk back to a wonderful book store 🤗Im love!
My most favorite independent book store! It has so many great options and selections for unique books. I love this place and enjoy spending some time on the weekend just browsing around.
Wow! This new location screams modern design sensibility. Maximizing upwards spaces while making city spaces work for them. The rotating selection of books is nice but leaves a bit to be desired compared to other tatterd cover locations. Still though, you are bound to find something to surpise you.
In the day and age of technology and e-books, this place is a real treat. One of the most incredible bookstores I have ever had the privilege of visiting. The selection of books is tremendous and almost overwhelming. Indie bookstores of this nature are a dying breed and it was really great to see it thriving. Highly recommended.
Great independent bookstore with a nice cozy vibe. The store is well laid out and has ample selection of books to browse. They also have a good number of used books for sale, but primarily sell new copies. The childrens area seems adequate and the other sections are well marked. Staff here are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Theres also minimal seating here, but generally its a bit noisy with how popular this spot can be pre-pandemic. Parking is an issue, just like any other place downtown.
New location but it still has a great vibe to it!
The newest Tattered Cover offers all the great service and selection of books that has made the chain famous.
Tall bookstore, with great staff recommendations. Great view of Coors Field!
The kids books section is absolutely amazing! Way better than barnes and noble. Way better than borders. Im visiting from Philadelphia and brought 6 books for my son because Ive never seen those books in other stores before. They had a better collection of books in my opinion. The building is super old and interesting also. Staff is very friendly.
COVID UPDATE: Theyre back! Dont let the restoration to the outside turn you away, theyre open again. Coffee shop and restrooms are closed but your greeted by a table with hand sanitizer and gloves. Store has all the same stuff and a few places to sit that are well over 6 apart. Staff is still around to answer any and all questions. Tattered cover is back!Iconic bookstore on 16th street. Great for browsing around or picking up that book youve been meaning to read, classic or contemporary. Also home to a nice coffee shop with some really great specials. I loved my white mocha with lavender (appropriately named the Mary Shelley). Staff is friendly and knows their coffee.Love this place and will be back!
Love from first step in this store. Everything here is perfect or almost perfect. You can spend here hours ( due to covid restriction one hour or so) and you ll not understand how its happened. Very good selection of books, warm and friendly service.
Good prices, and the manager Derek is awesome! Unfortunately, their bathrooms are closed due to the pandemic, and they wouldnt make an exception for my toddlers potty emergency. But other than that, it was good.
Really loved exploring this book store. They had a great selection and I even found some new authors to read. This location is a restored mercantile building which just made it even cooler to explore.
One of Denvers best businesses. AND theyre Black~owned! They have a huge spiritual section which we cannot deny is both necessary and enjoyable!!! I love this place.
Its a nice looking store inside. Polite workers. Covid safe. Good book prices.
Great bookstore with good selection.
Kind workers, clean place and a very large variety of books.
Always a wonderful book store!Looking forward to the new location near coors field.
Loved it. Large space, old book store atmosphere. A lot of interesting items. Could have easily spent a couple hours there. Pandemic precautions in place.
This is a wonderful bookstore. The workers are very friendly and helpful. They give you bookmarks with your books :)
Cool atmosphere and friendly employees! They also have more books that are under the mainstream radar, so it’s a good place to look for something you haven’t found at B&N. Fair prices, too! Some bargain & used copies for those looking for a deal.
This is most likely one of the best bookstores I’ve ever been to and I’ve traveled a lot. It has a vibe of feeling like you are in an old library, but with brand new books spread across y’all wooden bookshelves. I’ve spent hours here wandering around. There’s lots of unique books and popular ones too. They also have large tables scattered throughout for you to sit down and read or even do some work. There’s a small little coffee/deli at the front of the store. You can grab a light lunch or snacks. The staff is pleasant, but not overly friendly. They feel like introverts who just want to be around books all day. I really enjoy going to this bookstore. It’s conveniently located, although you might struggle a bit finding parking close by unless it’s in a garage. There’s some street parking available, but it’s very limited. It’s a close shot to Union station too!
We love this bookstore. Yesterday we went there to get some baby books, they have so many options that it was hard to stay therr for only 1 hour (time limit due to covid). They are one of the few places I see that are still being extra careful with covid. Amazing bookstore!
Much smaller collection of books then the last time I what.
Great bookstore and great people!
This good, old-fashioned style bookstore, with its warm & inviting atmosphere, in an old brick building in downtown Denver, is in sharp contrast to the slick, modern chain stores common today. There is an amazing selection of books & delightful special area for kids. This is more than a bookstore; its a place to linger, to nourish your mind and soul.
Beautiful bookstore with a nostalgic feeling !
Wide variety of books, no magazines for several months now, very informed and helpful staff
Home grown book store
One of my favorite book stores. The lodo location is in a good spot and has very interesting layout. If they dont have the books I want in stock they always offer to order it for me.
Its a book store. Its Tattered Cover; its totally cool! If you disagree, then find a good book fool!
This is the place to go to find any book. Really nice store with many spots to read
A true gem in downtown Denver. The building is gorgeous, but the real draw is the staff. Knowledgeable, courteous, and all apparently read constantly to provide you with what I have to say are the best recommendations. In a world where brick and mortar stores are disappearing, this one reminds you of why those stores were such draws. Theyll help you find books youd never find online. Talk to them. Go in, buy a coffee in their excellent cafe, and give yourself time to enjoy the experience. A readers paradise.
Absolutely loved this book store. The prices were amazing and the staff were super friendly.
Cool book store, i go there every other week
It’s a smaller bookstore and only one level, so they might not have an item if you’re looking for something in particular (which happened to me). However, because I live in the area I like to go in once in a while as they have some interesting books. Mostly I like seeing the handwritten notes on some of them—or official staff picks. You can’t expect Amazon prices, but they do have some used books in good condition interspersed in the various sections (especially fiction) if you’re looking for a bargain. They do have great places to sit down as well—including a table with a chess board on the top—as well as a coffee shop.
Amazing book store! The store is huge and well organized. It has a great selection of all sorts of books & magazines for children to adults. The greeting card section is stocked full of cards for all occasions. Staff is very helpful & friendly. Prices are good. Grab a cup of Joe at their cafe, settle down on one of their comfy couches and enjoy the ambiance!
Large book story but refused to let us use the restroom!!! We came from Pueblo😰. They want our money but not our comfort. So we looked around quickly then left.
Phenomenal book store. Great collection of books and a great space to read. Moreover service is great and many books have hand written reviews of each book. I highly recommended to anyone looking for a book or just a nice place to read.
I love this bookstore! So quaint but huge selections! Tons of seating and the staff is always incredibly nice and helpful. They have so many staff picks around the entire store and each pick has a handwritten blurb by one of the employees (so you know its actually coming recommended and its not just advertising). Great store.
Such a cute book store. The staff was so friendly.
Cool bookstore definently would reccomend
Its a great bookstore Im sure most book lovers would enjoy. The atmosphere is great and you can really find some great books here. I especially love the hand written notes under the books, Its great to see that other have enjoyed that book and makes me want to buy it more.
Iconic bookstore, knowledgeable and helpful expert staff. Great place to just browse new books. Wish I could go there more often...but we are more than 3 hours awayIts always on our list!
Love this bookstore. The building is amazing with a large and varied history. There are many areas where you can relax and just browse the books and magazines. There are so many different books, some hard to find. The staff is very helpful and willing to offer suggestions. The bargain section is also very large.
This place is magical. Every time I walk into the shop, I feel immediate comfort and calmness. It’s a fun setup, with many nooks and crannies. They also have a lovely coffee shop inside that serves cappuccinos and pastries.
A very “New York Times” and “The Guardian” sort of bookstore, nothing interesting or academic here. All books are ones that would be reviewed in either publication.I don’t understand why locals rave about this bookstore. It has little to no used books at all, and everything they sell is easily available everywhere else books are sold.Fiction is a giant section here, and sections like philosophy or politics are only one shelf wide. They seem to have a lot of choices of paperbacks about contemporary politics - maybe that’s the appeal. The cafe is cute, with limited seating and the coffee smelled great. I didn’t try it though, maybe I should have! This is not a used bookstore and should not advertise itself as such.
I can & have spent a long time in this bookstore, it feels very cozy but big & has a very good selection. I appreciate all of the staff recommendations/picks. I havent tried the cafe but I like having the option. Looking forward to coming back next time Im in the area.
Cute book store! Variety of things and I was able to grab some Colorado souvenirs from my trip.
I love reading and this place is heaven to me! Its quite and usually cool and has a great selection!
A downtown favorite! Ive always preferred the old Cherry Creek location, but this is a lovely place. The building has great character and there is a decent book selection. Lots of other kitsch you can grab as well.
Staff are sweet, books are well organized, hand sanitizer is available and social distancing measures are in place
Love this store and experience to find some unique and interesting works.Ended up purchasing a large Atlas coffee table book that we had been unable to find elsewhere. Check this place out for an amazing experience near Union Station!
Fun bookstore, big but local. Good selection of fantasy, sci fi and recent popular
A classic old fashioned bookstore. Always well stocked and well staffed.
Absolutely fantastic with everything you could ever want and more. Great selection of gifts for the holidays. Friendly and helpful staff. Well laid out store in a great location.
I loved the wide selection and variety of books of all themes and subjects available in this old style bookstore. A big plus was the post-it notes that was handwritten by a bookkeeper describing the books and subjects in specific locations. A necessary visit by any literature lover.
Great local bookstore in a great location downtown. The cafe here has a decent tea selection and vegan snacks. There are a few lunch options as well The coffee is tolerable of youre in a hurry. Seating is pretty limited.
Very nice area. A lot of shelves have recommendation notes from the staff which is really nice. Great calm place to read a book in. Selection is also sizable.
Great neighborhood bookstore
I go here often for coffee and tea. The staff is very friendly and their tea selection is wonderful. Of course the bookstore is great too with loads of staff recommendations posted to help guide customers to noteworthy books. This is a Denver institution.
Coolest book store. And they so much more lake periodicals. When I go to visit someone in the hospital I go there to get new stuff for my friends.
Three coolest bookstore in town and dinner if the best coffee. This is a great place to hangout if you like both. Also a great place to people watch. The staff are also super friendly and super helpful.
Great, quiet, classic bookstore in the heart of downtown. It has that bookstore smell with old wood floor boards and tall bookcases that makes it feel like a wonderful maze of books. Its a great place to go to grab a coffee, wander around, and find your next page turner.
I usually appreciate having this bookstore be a part of the Denver community, but I also cant overlook the poor response to current events. Its one thing to say nothing, but its something else entirely to blatantly take the side of the oppressors with your ambivalence, and its even worse to follow it up with a weak apology that reads of sorry you got mad at us. Do better. As an actual store, your selection is okay, but your used books are very limited if there are any at all, your staff is a little too prickly, and of the recent author events Ive attended in the past year, they are frequently unorganized, stressful, and a let down.Ill definitely be holding on to my money unless I see Tattered Cover ACTUALLY try to have a positive influence over the communities they claim to be part of.
Large bookstore located right in the downtown Denver area. There is also one located in the Denver airport I discovered. There are so many books to look at and nice areas to relax and read a book. They serve coffee there too. I love the hand written notes from the employees about certain books. They really help you make a decision on which book to buy.
I love this bookstore! The building is beautiful and the staff is very helpful. I love the atmosphere and supporting local business!
My favorite bookstore in Colorado. A visit to Denver is not complete without a trip to the Tattered Cover. So many memories and emotion tied up in this place! Lots of personal history. You wont be disappointed.
Loved this place. Almost spent all my money on books because of their staff picks tags! I loved the atmosphere of the place too!
This is easily one of my favorite locations in the Union station / 16th Street Mall area! They have an excellent selection of books and related materials and they encourage browsing with a very comfortable atmosphere. There are always great deals to be had in the bargain, and use the book section too!
A small bookstore with a surprisingly large and diverse selection available. The staff arent pushy, but theyre very helpful and willing to discuss anything with you. Id definitely recommend this place to everyone. They also have a smaller branch in Union Station.
Best bookshop in Denver. Very nice vibe and good selection of books. Keeping Denver tradition alive. Great place to get work done. You can grab coffee at their cafe if you need to.
