What can I say about this place? Its amazing!! Definitely go support it when you can. The selection of stuff they have is crazy. Really great comic selection and a surprising amount of sweet Gundam model kits. Theyve got some pinball machines and cocktail cabinets to play while you drink your coffee/tea. The community events are great. Always a good time!
Awesome little shop and the cafe was also great! definitely recommend.
I love mutiny, I love going in and poking around their books with a hot cup of coffee. Ive found all sorts of great comics here and the employees are lovely. Ive heard mixed things about their mask policy (please wear one!)
Amazing place to be. Beverages are good and the staff is always friendly. Even thou its a small location, they pack a good selection of comics, vinyl, and books. They also participate in Free Comic Book day! Highly recommend.
It’s a cool place to visit and get lost in if you have some time to kill.I wish it was more organized. There’s a good section of the store that you can’t get to the books due to some furniture on the way. And the “alphabetical organization” is mostly a general idea. Can’t talk about the comics since I was just looking for used books.Staff was nice. I wish they had a catalogue of their books or maybe a more thorough organization in the shelves. Will come back if I’m in the area.
What a great spot to stop in and check out! Loved the coffee I got and checking out the bookshop. We picked up a zine and some odds and ends. The live in black kitty cat is the sweetest.
Amazing! A cool spot and super friendly staff. Amazing cold coffee (thats the only thing I get there ) Metal themed hot sauce, comics, tons of books, collectibles, vinyl and other music items. Even Gunko pops. Its the store I always wanted right in the heart of the city! And dont forget the quarters they have pinball machines.Good vibes and humble staff makes for a great spot.I LOVE IT! 💘
Awesome place. Books, comics, coffee, records, so much cool stuff. They host different events nearly every night. Highly recommend.
I went there to see and hear my son-in-love perform his rhymes...open mic night every second Saturday...He is very talented.....the book store is very fun and unique
Best comics, really nice Cafe, staff, releases and prices!!♡♡ often has really good events, I would suggest following them on some of their social media tbh.
Very cool shop and I was so excited to find Doctor Who Merchandise there!
Good selection of new comics and trade paper backs. Tons of used books as well. Limited selection of gunpla and models. In house coffee shop was nice as well.
Great selection of books and some pop culture stuff like Gunpla available
The aesthetic in here amazing, the people are so friendly and helpful.
Absolutely love this cafe, cool comics, good coffee and pastries and eclectic books. Whats not to like?
This place was super cool. They had comics, trading cards, books, vinyl, and more. The staff were kind and the space had a fun lived in feel. Definitely a must pop in each time I visit.
Mutiny Cafe is an interesting conglomeration of the old, the new, and the weird. Its a used bookstore, a used record store, a shop for new and old comics, a coffee shop, and a performance space. Among other things!Maybe its slightly more of a bookshop than anything else. Theres a rich selection of used books of various genres. The rows of bookshelves are sometimes too close together and too dark for me to browse comfortably. But there are comfy old chairs scattered around the store, so that maybe makes up for the trouble... a bit. The store also offers a robust collection of odd local publications from newspapers to pamphlets to zines. For comic fans, theres a subscription comics service, some older collectible comics, and trade paperbacks. There are several bins of old LPs, too. The coffee shop area (with odd gifts and offbeat food choices) seems to always be busy. Sometimes, a patron finds the pinball machines worth attention. As noted above, the back room can shift easily into a small performance venue, which is a big plus. But that brings up an important question. Would you rather have more shelves and more space for books, or pinball machines, and a photo both, and so on? Of course, there are plenty of other bookstores that are filled to the bursting with stacks of books, so Mutinys preferences make for a nice change. The ambience is a little bit too cool, or too hip, for me to feel quite at home. But the strong cultural profile shows why Denver Public Library partnered with this store a few years ago for a local comic event.
Funky used/new bookstore-cafe with comics, Gundam model kitsch, pinball machines and regular community events. I live this place and was very happy that it survived 2020 and is just as subversive and kind as ever.
Amazing coffee and atmosphere!!!! Great staff!!!! Could be in there hours. So many cool things to look at.
Awesome independant shop. Pinball, books, comics, records, coffee (with coffee ice cubes), live music, and all kinds of community action. This is a place where being weird is celebrated and getting involved is made simple, with lots of groups meeting about activism, writing, podcasts, board games, you name it-there are probably people meeting up at Mutiny to get it done!
Great place a real jem for comic book hunters love this place look forward to spending alot of time here
I love this place! The coffee is delicious, the staff is kind and the book selection is great. They’re always giving back to the community too. Fav place in Denver
One of the best parts of the South Broadway neighborhood. This spot brings so much character to the area and is a hub for alternative media and for artists.
This place is just cool. Music + books + comics + coffee = great place. Parking is typical for Broadway 😶.
Coffee bar, used books, pinball, great and edgy, alternative publications. Denver, and every city, needs more places like this.
Mutiny is awesome! Bookstore, record store, coffee shop and small venue. This place has it all! Its a staple on S. Broadway. Locally and independently owned by 2 awesome guys that support the Denver music and art scene. Its a quirky little shop that everyone loves.
Mutiny, the last of Broadways used book store stretch. Its so much more than books, though, music and coffee and art and community.
Amazing place for a good cup of coffee and reading.
Awesome book hunting, friendly staff, lots of good books!
What an awesome coffee shop! I love, love, love that theyre open late and that theres sometimes live music happening in the back. A huge selection of reference books that I could go through for hours and amazing knickknacks that are great for small presents or gestures. Im sure COVIDs changed some of this though but you should still grab some coffee from them!
Great alternative bookstore/cafe
Mutiny information Cafe is a delightful stop for Zines and other DIY culture. They also have records for sale and lots of books and comix and more books and a pinball machine and a sweet black cat. But wait, theres more! Open stages, Art, and an espresso bar! Am I forgetting anything? Yes because there are more hidden treasures! Come explore and say hi to the owner, who seems like a legit pirate who loves counter culture
Great place, great vibes!
Fantastic locally owned store with a great selection of comics, books, records, and coffee!
So, so Good... this place is Awesome! Reminds me of my favorite places growing up. Take your favorite bookstore, record store and coffee shop and throw them into a comfortable sweater... youre Home!
Rude. Disrespectful. Condescending. Dont support ignorant businessess like these. Horrible horrible horrible place. Overpriced. Mean employees
Great place, good vibes, great prices!!
+ Free, ample parking+ Free empanada with Yelp check-in! I got an apple one and they warm it up for you. It was yummy!+ Free WiFi!!+ I tried the Spanish mocha iced (specialty drink) and it was delicious! It was milky chocolate and had such a unique taste.+ Affordable and reason pricing+ Large menu with a lot of options (I will be coming back)+ Tons of seating and Latin tunes playing all the time.+ Friendly employees and fast service. This place was so impressive! Finally glad to have a nice cafe on this end of town. Definitely check this place out!
Love this place! So much to check out!
I can not endorse this place enough. I have been buying their bags of coffee for the last couple years and honestly nothing compares. I am proud to give my money to this organization
Fantastic! Awesome atmosphere and awesome people. Found some great books and witnessed one of the employees or manager excellently handling a maskless customer. Highly recommended and will pop back in again!
Ive seen a lot of people reviewing this place who clearly have never even been here, or dont even live in Denver. Let me tell you, the majority of the one-star reviews are garbage. I live just off South Broadway, and love to go here. They have a great little comics section to browse, a cool little coffee shop, and a range of events and services to help the community. But my favorite reason to come to Mutiny is the bands. Seeing a band play in a weird used bookstore is exactly as cool as youd expect (which is to say, insanely cool). I love Mutiny and theyre a cornerstone of my neighborhood. Proud to be a Denver resident and to support Mutiny. Heres a pic I took of All Waffle Trick playing there during Dont Panic Fest. That was a great time!
This place have a special place in my heart. After a tiring hiking trip, I was supposed to stay in the B&B nearby. But my booking was cancelled, and my phone reception was not working. So I was suddenly stranded without internet outside in the dark. I was in panic as many places closed already. But luckily I saw this place, they gave me the WiFi password and I was able to find a hotel - rescued my night. I am very thankful for finding this place. If I go Denver again, I will definitely go in and buy some “information” :)
Not great cappuccino too much milk and not enough coffee but nice bookshop some collectibles
Great coffee, nice staff, and a beautiful shop cat
This is such a fun little shop. The combination of books and coffee is just a match made in heaven!
Matt - the owner - struck me with his hands before putting his hands on me while asking me to leave. I was putting on my coats when he threw my things out side on the ground. He also asked if I were on drugs and it is pretty awful feeling like this there are no human Spirit during this holiday season. He was violent and Im putting a police report on it
Lots of comics, incredible literature, and/or a wonderful selection of music. All of a sudden...
Greatest place on earth
I make sure and get my very strong cold brew coffee from here and chance I get just to ensure this place never goes out of business. A cultural necessity!
I absolutely adore mutiny. Ive been coming here pretty consistently ever since I moved to Denver. I use to order their iced coffee with vanilla and hazelnut or the Thai iced teas. They have vegan selections of bread such as chocolate pumpkin bread, blueberry lemon, and banana nut bread. All vegan. Matt and Jim have been very loving and adoptive of me into their little community and all the baristas are sweet hearts. The decor is very very cool like someone said in a previous review its very east village New York in the 90s. Tons of books and records and comics and funny amazing art everywhere. They sell local artists prints and lapel pins and have a vintage photo booth. Its truly one of the most unique most amazing places in Denver. They also have a ton of interesting events. From poetry nights to live bands. This place will always hold a special place in my heart.
Love this place so much. I had a solid espresso and checked out the books. Surprisingly good local history / local interest sections.
In my opinion best coffee in towns. Freaky cool and fun place.
Great coffee, great place to immerse yourself where its open and accepting to all. Youll feel good when youre there and come away feeling creative. The owner, Jim Norris, is a Denver treasure.
Amazing small shop with books, records, and COMICS!
Mutiny is the best! We were there tonight for their monthly Magic Open Mic Night. So much fun. The best chai. Great books and comics too. Love this place. Back in a month for mire magic (3rd Monday each month!)
Great place to settle walk in at look at amazing books collectables and records. Still open at min capacity during covid and has a walk up coffee window.
Very cool spot! Tbe staff is super friendly and theres so much different stuff to check out. The vinyl section is fairly slim, but I was still able to find a solid print that has been on my wantlist for quite some time at a steal! I would highly recommend this spot to anyone browsing the area.
Awsome place that has a coffee shop, records, books, comics and so much more. Super friendly staff. Shout out to TBone he went and looked for a book for me in the back and was super friendly and engaging. Ill definitely be back
I dont live too close to the store and every single time I have called for the past week nobody answers the phone. I have called allot. Since they wont answer the phone I cant find out if they have what I need in stock so I spend my money elsewhere! They obviously dont need the business!
Listen here! This place is cool AF! Everything about Mutiny Rocks! I love Midnight Movies! I love the drinks and the location! If you havent been, go here asap! Buy Books! Real Freaking Books!
Neighborhood staple, always with a great variety of neighborhood art. The absolute essence of local, and we are so happy to have this around the way
Interesting nook. Books, music and more sold here. Live music and coffee bar. Interesting decor, a bit on the darker side of comics perhaps?Arcade. A lot to see.20 something crowd mostly. Tight areas to maneuver. The place would be so amazing if it were a cleaner establishment. Bathrooms were frightening! Still a neat place to explore and experience!
Dope local spot for coffee, comics, records, and other nerd stuff.
Basically alternative Starbucks, with lots of old bookshelves and quaint ornaments and an open area for open mics of poetry. Stylish on its own and completed by the clientele.Would go again to eat a damn good bagel. ~
For a little caffeine boost, try the cold shot in the dark. You can thank me later ;)The art outside is great to look at as you wait for your coffee!
I love this place. It has great books and obscure ones. Not to mention it is a chill place to get your work done during the day while drinking a good freshly made cappuccino.
All those books you see at garage sales, thrift stores, and neighborhood book depositories all eventually end up here. If you have any author in mind, you wont find it, but if youre lucky (and you are) you will find three copies of the same Danielle Steele novel. Its too bad, as the place is genuinely wanting to be a focal point of local culture, of some intelligent community.
Fantastic atmosphere, great coffee, and lots to do! Its easy to spend a lot of time hanging out here and perusing the vinyls, books, comics, etc. Plus, you can sit down for a nice game of chess or see locals perform/showcase their talents! I love it here, and its always a stop for me when Im hanging out on Broadway.
Super quirky place to get coffee, play pin ball, browse for used books. It has a lot of character! I really enjoyed my time here playing pin ball and browsing for books.
A great place to hang out, have a cup of java, and get some books/music.!They also have fantastic bands, food, and other drinks. The employees are always helpful, even if its slammed.Being on Broadway it probably needs to be 2x the size to hold all the awesome! Love what theyve done with a store that used to have very limited hours.
I come here pretty often for the poetry nights and Punketry performances. Ive performed here once myself! I forget his name, but the man that works at the coffee bar is so friendly. Lots of syrup flavors to choose from to put in your coffee and tea. Huge selection of comics and graphic novels. I also really like looking at their rare books--there is always something new. Great atmosphere to hang out and read, or listen to a performance. :)
Great coffee, great place to immerse yourself where its open and accepting to all. Youll feel good when youre there and come away feeling creative. The owner, Jim Norris, is a Denver treasure.
Great books and coffee. Something for everyone including kids
