This is a lovely bookstore and bar, with a welcoming atmosphere and a knowledgeable, friendly staff. Beer and wine prices are decent, and the book selection is great and appealing. Baby-changing station in a family restroom. Disability-accessible. Cute little patio out back. Parking is on the street, but I found a parking spot with no problem on a Saturday night.
BookBar is awesome. Wine, beer, books. What could be better? Cozy places to sit and chat, wonderful outside patio with firepit. Plus, strolling Tennyson is always fun! Great restaurants, shops and amenities.
What a lovely independent bookstore in Northwest Denver! I live the bright layout and friendly staff. In addition to having a great selection of books for children and adults, they also have a delightful coffee/cocktail shop with tasty food options. I enjoyed a quiet glass of wine while reading, before hitting up the children’s section for a quick gift for my son on my way out. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
Very cute little spot with a nice selection of books. I went by to pickup a signed book from one of their recent events. The staff were very helpful and incredibly nice. Next time Id like to stay and try something from their menu.
Really cool spot. I love finding unique bookstores in cities I am visiting. Saw a lot of interesting books that I could easily have ended up buying. Would definitely go back and spend more time there.
Wonderful place to relax and enjoy a book and coffee. I asked one of the staff members for a book recommendation, and she made 3 excellent selections for me. I look forward to returning. Great indoor and outdoor spaces.
Great place! Great atmosphere! Delicious drinks! Become a member! Its worth it. Will be back. Wish I lived closer.
Best bookstore in Denver. Friendly people, great atmosphere.
BookBar is my favorite local indie bookstore in Denver. I love to browse all of the shelves of the genres I enjoy, grab a Salmon Rushdie plate to nosh on the patio with a delicious craft coffee. BookBar has never steered me wrong on reading recommendations, and they easily handle my obsession with pre-ordering books through their website. They ship, but I like visiting the shop too much, so I typically opt to pick up in person. Its an incredibly inclusive and conscientious environment, the exact kind of business I love to support. I have visited BookBar many, many times for books, patio drinks, and author events. Theyre the best around.
Lovely quaint bookstore, with an amazing, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Awesome place to go have a cup of coffee or wine and relax with your favorite book.
Great spot for a coffee, glass of wine and to shop or meet with a friend. Love the Tennyson area and supporting this awesome local bookstore. Even has an awesome back patio, perfect for the summer!
This is a nice little bookshop. Kid friendly. Nice outdoor area to relax and read.
A great little indie bookstore that also doubles as a bar! A solid selection of books and gifts for the bookworm in your life, as well as a really awesome frequent shopper rewards program (and teacher discount)! I just wish it werent all the way in the other side of town from me!
I used to loved BookBar but its gotten really weird lately. Man behind the bar was extremely rude and made me a really watery latte. It seemed like no one knew what they were doing. The whole experience felt very chaotic. Wouldnt recommend coming here.
Drove an hour and a half from Colorado Springs just to find out they’re closing early now :( My roomies and I were so excited; would appreciate if they updated their hours here on google for those traveling from far away.
Cute idea but...not well executed. Came with friends and ordered two hors doeuvres, very overpriced, the guy brought them out 20 minutes later on tiny plates, olives were rolling around on them, touching the guys thumbs. Tomatoes were shriveled and mushy, arugula was browning, it looked like the cheese had been left out because it was a little crusty. Not worth the time or money.
They dont have a great selection and all the books are organized in a really confusing way. Tattered Cover much better.
Really bad experience with the sales associate. I spoke to someone to inform them of my experience and concerns went unheard. It has a great patio atmosphere but for the experience and the price, I will not be returning.
Love it! Love the atmosphere and good place to pick up something good to read.
Its a great local bookstore and you can have a glass of wine while you browse!
Such an awesome place! Super cool, and great staff!
Nice place, cozy. Has sofa and snack shop
Great ambiance and very attentive staff. A must see unique place!
Beautiful store, friendly and knowledgeable staff.Thank you Nicole, for hosting us June 27th.We hope to be back to see you sometime.😊
Bookbar is the best book + bar of all time.
Excellent little coffee shop that also serves beer and wine. Would highly recommend
I stopped by BookBar with a friend in late January 2021 in hopes of getting a new book or two. The employees were both wearing masks and were made me feel super safe, and their book recommendations were AWESOME. Ive never been one to purchase books based solely on the recommendation of a bookstore employee, but I think this will be the new way I buy books! I gave them some parameters, and they came back with a stack of half a dozen to choose from. I bought three, and my friend bought two, and we are both SO happy with what we got. I wish I could remember the employees names, but, they were AMAZING and just made my day (and week) with their great suggestions. I cant wait to finish up my stack and go back for more!
Awesome atmosphere and so many good books. We got the hummus plate and had a relaxing time on the patio.
There is a reason we still have bookstores.
Great experience at the Book bar! Their menus are adorable, coffee and wine are amazing and ambiance and staff are cool. Some friends and I did poetry trivia, and got free books for winning. We dont live close at all, but would definitely come back because of the friendly staff, good food, and environment.
Nice book selection and super helpful staff - Im currently loving the Sci-Fi series they recommended. I also really appreciate that they are taking Covid precautions seriously, and currently only allowing one customer group at a time inside to browse the books. Loved the cozy outdoor seating area as well. Books and beer, cant beat that!
Friendly staff, a great selection and good food. Looking forward to having more bookclub meetings here.
I’m so happy BookBar exists.
Well if you are a complete and total up tight yuppie... Well hell you will fit right in a here... If you dont look like you drive a Lexus or you dont have a BMW key chain from your local dealership you will be profiled by the staff here...They Will follow you around and harass you to all hell... See what you dill-holes that work here dont realize is that I make more money in a week than they do in a month... SO STOP PROFILING PEOPLE WHO YOU THINK ARE SHADY LOOKING BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY ARE DRESSED... SO GO SUCK YOURSELF!!!
Great ambiance, delicious coffee, and kind staff. Inside seating is currently closed but there were lots of spaces on the spacious patio to sit in the sun and enjoy my breakfast
Truly.... the best of all possible worlds!
Fantastic place with a great kids book section too!
I love this place!!! What’s not to love in a place where you can browse and buy books while you sip on wine or beer and nibble at yummy bites. The owner and staff are always welcoming and do their best to accommodate everyone especially during these trying COVID-19 times.I stopped in last Saturday for Independent Bookstore Day. It was a warm spring Saturday perfect for patio sitting. I had my usual olives and nuts with a couple of beers while I waited for my time to browse the shelves. *Note: during COVID-19 restrictions it is best to make an appointment to enter the store because they are being extremely responsible by limiting capacity.*I didn’t “need” anymore books but obviously I had to do my share to help small businesses so I purchased a few things from my TBR list. Nothing but smiles from this book addict.
One of my favorite places to come visit when in the Denver area.
Super cool and unique place to chill, have some coffee in the morning or alcoholic drinks during the day, relax on a couch, and indulge is a good book in their vast array of genres. They also serve as a bookstore, so you can purchase books as well! Definitely a place to check out just for the uniqueness.
Good book selection, very friendly staff, and a lovely patio with snacks and drinks to enjoy.
Fun stop in Berkeley area of Denver
Perfect for book club
Love BookBar. This place made our holiday very special. Support your local indie bookstore!
Best bookstore around. Amazing loyalty program and has been fully in support of recent events. They will be getting all of my money.I get a personalized thank you message after every order, and I cant begin to tell you how wonderful that feels. Bookbar is the BEST!
Great fire pit outside with a tasty mulled wine. Cute decor and overall relaxing place.
They arent open for browsing in store, but you can place orders on books and pick them up at the window. Wonderfully pleasant staff and good coffee.
One of the best bookstores in Colorado! I love hanging out here, their drinks are great and its a relaxing spot to study and to read or buy new books!
This was a pretty cute spot! A little bigger than expected, but still not much seating in the middle of a weekday to sit down and enjoy a drink or two. Loved the variety of books without feeling too overwhelmed with what to pick like the chain book stores! Im just trying to get back into reading and found a couple books that Im really starting to enjoy!
Knowledgeable staff. Had what I was looking for. Great ambiance.
This is one of my favorite places. Wonderful service, great selections from books, coffee, wine or treats. I love the tiny pastries they serve. Perfect bite size for when you just want a small treat with coffee or wine. Very comfortable seating at the bar, living room or around back. There is an area of childrens books as well.
This quaint combination of bookstore, coffeehouse, and wine bar has the perfect atmosphere for literary lovers. My coffee was delicious! Along with a tasty little croissant and some good conversation, this made for a lovely start to my day.
This is one of my favorite places on Tennyson. The staff is great. The food is good especially because they have gluten-free options. They have a great selection of books and of beer and wine.
Great selection and friendly staff
Locally run small business that is essential to the community at large. They host events for adults and children that encourage the love and art of reading and writing and bring us all together to create the best versions of ourselves.
Love the BookBar - my favorite small bookstore in Denver! It’s a wonderful comfortable fun venue for local author book signings & gatherings! My friend Joan Jacobson introduced me to it when has a signing party there for her first novel “small secrets”. I liked it had books, a bar with wait staff that serves food & drinks, comfortable seating and friendly attentive employees! What’s not to like! The only con for me is finding a place to park there and having to drive there. I wish Lakewood had a bookstore like the BookBar!
This is my favorite place. The staff is outstanding in every way. What lovely people to be around. The book selection is excellent and the food is very good. Large selection of wine, beer and coffee. Love love love
Love this local book shop, they have lots of books and keep it current, and they can order anything for you as well. The bar is super cute and they have great snacks and drink options, you can also book a room for a book club meeting. Such an awesome local spot!
I love this bookstore and café! Knowledgeable and friendly staff!
Friendly helpful staff, good small dishes and wine!
The rating is for atmosphere more than book selection. Food is good, the patio is very nice: elegant but cozy. The book selection is extremely typical. They might say carefully curated, but Id say cautiously curated with all the usual suspects
Great selection, service and online shop.
A well loved bookstore/cafe/bar by the community. There are always events going on, so it may be hard to find a spot to sit, if youre not early or in between events. The food is top quality with child friendly options. I would recommend the Egg-ar Allen Pesto (yes thats the name!).
Excellent back patio with a fire. They have a very small herbal tea selection.
Picking up our book was a snap with their walk up window. Love this store.
Great books you can see and review before purchasing. Places to sit & browse. Places for book clubs to meet. Beverages were available. Friendly, knowledgeable staff.
I love this place. It has coffee, tea, wine, beer, some treats, and books! Its super cozy and cute. Theres tables and seats every where throughout the place. Also, theres outdoor seating in the back, a study nook area, and a little kids section too. It has a very nice and well thought out layout. The book selection is decent and they have a number of autographed books too. This is a great place to come alone, drink and wander around the books; as well as come with a group and find an area where everyone can sit comfortably and chat or read. On of my favorite places on Tennyson. Not sure what to call i because its both an excellent bookstore and wonderful cafe.
I love the bookbar, its a great bookstore that focuses of local and minority authors. The coffee/bar is great as well. Their food, though small and a little expensive, is tasty and perfect for reading. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly!
One of the cutest book stores I have ever been too. They have a great selection of books, and can order most things in relatively quickly. The staff were all really friendly. It is just a great place to poke around for books or hang out for a bit and read or work---they have a coffee/drink bar that has a great selection of both. Buy your books here!
Cute little place with both coffee and alcohol offerings. Its a great place to meet someone for the first time and has a welcoming air when you walk in. Would totally recommend for book lovers and anyone who likes a cozy place to chat over drinks.
Cozy lil nook to grab a hot coffee and snuggle with a book...available to purchase wine, mimosas, beer also. Plenty of space to spread into the back rooms for a lil more privacy and quiet. Cute and cozy and warm!
Books and coffee. I don’t know of a better combination! The store can get a little crowded, but it’s super cute inside. A small selection of books, so don’t expect a wide variety of options!
Beautiful bookstore! Good food! Great selection of beverages. Beautiful patio. It was a great location for our ladies night out!!!
Book Bar is just what it sounds like--a bar with a book store in it. They offer space to host all kinds of readings and events, and they cater parties in a lovely building. They serve Stem Cider, which is a favorite of mine.
We enjoy coming here to get coffee and browse books! Lots of good selections that are unique.
Love it!!! Staff was awesome!!! Its such a cozy chilled out spot. A lovely GEM! I live in Aurora & work from home. But I dont mind the drive to experience a different piece of scenery. One of my new favorite places!
This is a great little bookstore with an impressive selection of titles. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable. Also, there are regular events that bring the community together. This place deserves 100 stars. Check it out. It is impossible to be disappointed by the experience in this shop.
Potentially the best bookstore in Colorado. Well curated book collection, tasty bar/coffee shop, writer readings from authors we care about and incredibly friendly staff. Love the Book Bar!!
A book store for adults and kids that serves both coffee and alcohol? Sold! But really, this place is so great and always bustling at the perfect level.
This is a really unique, interesting place. I love the combination of cafe, bar, and bookstore. There was an author there sharing his work and signing books. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Very cool.
Its like a library you can talk and eat in. Enjoying a nice cambric and waiting on a friend. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday evening in a cool part of town.
Love this bar! One can go and drink wine and read a book, or just hangout with a friend. Its a very relaxing atmosphere, and the staff are very caring and nice.
Great local bookstore with coffee, wine, and food. Back patio is awesome! Staff was great!
Great mix of coffee shop, book store and a bar with some great inside and outside seating. Excellent to chill out and have a drink and chat with friends if your in the neighborhood.
I love hanging out here! Great place to read or write or get work done, and I love that there are always events going on.
Super cute store. Super nice staff.
Really love having a local book store with a curated selection that is right near me (was looking for Underland by Robert Macfarlane and they had it in stock no problem!). I believe in supporting my local economy, and giving a larger share directly to authors and publishers rather than the razor thin margins that authors earn from Amazon. And of course, what makes BookBar equally amazing is their full service coffee bar! Yay!
The only Americano Ive had in Colorado that was drinkable. It was truly great. Great facility and great staff.
