Mrs. Brenda was a dream! This was my first visit to The Bagel and she didnt disappoint.I had the reuben at her suggestion and she didnt load me wrong. Everything came out hot, flavorful and just as she said it would. The pickles were some of the best Ive ever had. And my dinner companion had a slice of chocolate cake that he said was one of the best hes ever had.I would definitely recommend as all of the staff were nice and helpful with sky questions. If you can, request Mrs. Brenda, shes worth it. Kinda like visiting Mom for dinner.

Excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner deli/ bakery/full menu restaurant. First class staff, and owner take care of each customer like theyre the only customer. Monday special is wild caught salmon. Thursday is BBQ chicken. Guess which nights were regulars? Vegetable soup is a meal in itself. My favorite sandwiches are the chicken salad, and the pastrami. Cant go wrong here!

Solid, old school Jewish deli! Staff is always friendly and attentive in a non-intrusive way. Food is solid, at times unspectacular, but is always what is to be expected. Consistent, too.Bonus; free parking lot (in an area where available street parking is scarce).Love the pickles and basket of bread they deliver after you are seated. Booth are quite comfortable.

After an amazing brisket sandwich, I went to pay my check and my worst fears came true: The Bagel Restaurant and Deli does not take Discover. It was the only form of payment I had on me at the time. My waitress - I think her name was Brenda - was super nice and understanding and helped me solve the problem. Luckily, theres an ATM machine immediately outside the door and despite the comedy of errors that ensued trying to operate it with a Discover Card, I finally got the cash out and paid for my meal. And then Brenda apologized to me as if I wasnt the one who was just unable to pay for my meal and spent what felt like an eternity fumbling with an ATM machine. Brenda - as well as all the other staff I interacted with here - are very friendly and wonderful. And the foods really good too!

I’ve ordered pick up from here a couple times but last night was my 1st time dining in since I moved to the neighborhood since the pandemic. We went during the outdoor dining/street closure event last night. The whole experience was stellar, the service was SO fast. Almost too fast. I’m pretty sure we had our entrees on the table less than 15 minutes after sitting down, and we where starving so it was great. Everyone was attentive and kind. The pastrami is very solid. It’s no 2nd Ave Deli in NYC but who else is. This is really really good pastrami, I’d happily get it again. They also have great chocolate rugelach.

I would not recommend this place. A staff member was extremely rude to my elderly mother and berated for sitting down at a table while I was ordering at the counter -- telling her you dont belong here and then going back to his another staff member to openly insult her. Once we got the bagel it was dry as a bone. Dont waste your time.

The Bagel is tasty and reliable when you are in the mood for a traditional deli-style meal. Worst breakfast you can get in Chicago. We had bacon and eggs, ham and eggs, bagels and cream cheese. The bacon looked like cars drove over it, was extremely burned and was very bad tasting. Coffee tastes like brown water. Bagels and eggs as boring as it gets. The only good tasting thing was the cream cheese. But we could hVe gotten it from the grocery store either. We left half of the breakfast as it was horrible.

Have eaten here with relative frequency in the past for takeout or dine in since it’s kind of the only game in the area for a “Jewish” style deli and I worked nearby. Today I got delivery though and they really put in the extra effort to package everything with care and provide all the little extras; extra pickle, applesauce and sour cream for my latke, a few extra slices of challah bread. I have such wonderful memories dining here throughout the years and Im so happy places like The Bagel 🥯 still exist. My mother used to treat me here as a teenager to good food like sandwiches, traditional Jewish appetizers, kreplach soup and dessert at the former location in Skokie. I felt nostalgia and came here today on purpose to fulfill some of my Jewish cuisine cravings. Both the owner Danny Wolf and my lovely server Erika greeted me with genuine enthusiasm when I arrived for dinner here. All I knew upon entering was that I had to order a kishke so Erika gave me plenty of time to decide while she brought me out their traditional platter of sliced dill pickles, toasted homemade bagel thins and their yummy challah bread slices 🍞 with 🧈 butter.Im a foodie so I appreciate good food prepared with love, a friendly staff and the coziness factor of where Im dining. I also love the booths here and retro 1950s diner energies. The Bagel 🥯 never disappoints and I chose a potato 🥔 pancake with apple 🍎 sauce and sourcream, a meat filled knish and the kishke Id been craving for days. The vibes here were positive and I thoroughly enjoyed conversing with everyone here so another waiter Chris made sure to write ✍ everyones names here so I could write the review tonight as a ❤ genuine heartfelt than you 🙏 for showing me such a good time today.I wish The Bagel team continued success for years to come and next time Ill definitely pop in for lunch and try one of their famous deli style sandwiches 😋
