Small hot vanilla chai, coconut milk and 2 shots of my espresso... Its the best! Great service and always worth the wait.
I loved going here pre-pandemic. Five stars for the coffee and snacks! But, now that the place is re-modeled I will need to find somewhere new for magical, old world, cozy coffee shop vibes. I dont really get it from a marketing perspective because their ambience is why everyone I know goes there. I will still support their drive thru!
I give them a 4 star for their delicious Killer Dana coffee that I travel miles to get. Not a fan though of the remodeling on the inside. Gone are the walls of book shelves and book share, comfy chair settings and fireplace stove. Its lost its ambiance for me to sit & relax inside with the more modern approach they took, so Ill just pick up my coffee beans and go elsewhere to relax!
Dirty chai w/ almond milk is my go to and the best Ive ever had!
Love the coffee and the best Almond Croissant. Flaky and full of flavor. Staff so friendly, patient, and helpful if youre not sure what you want to order. Always willing to explain the drink menu.
Great coffee and fresh pastries.Very nice baristas. Safe parking, they have you drive in from PCHand exit out the rear parking lotonto a back street. PCH can bevery busy In that area, so exitingout the back way and to a trafficlight is smart.
Hole in the wall coffee shop of of PCH. Took some time to get our drinks, but worth the wait.
Almost every time my cousin comes by we come here. decent prices, friendly service, and yummy drinks. my favorite is the mango green tea slushee/smoothie.
Id love this place for such a long time! I actually really adore the new updo! The interior looks so nice and clean, a perfect place to study or relax hang out with your friends whatever! I had a french vanilla coffee, and it was wonderful! I grabbed a biscotti, which looked very interesting, in a banana as well. :-) all together, are really fun experience, so glad that theyre open again!
This is one line worth waiting in!!! Great coffee and yummy breakfast burritos!!!
Hands down better than Starbucks. Must go
J C Beans Inc is our go-to coffee shop when we’re in Dana Point. While we can’t speak to the inside (we always have our dogs with us) the drive-thru service is fantastic. Their menu offers a wide variety of coffee beverages as well as tasty treats (they even have dog treats at the pickup window). This place is so popular, that on occasion, the drive-thru line overflows onto PCH. To us, that’s no biggie. The move cars forward at a respectable pace, and they bring our beverages out to the car. Highly recommend this coffee joint!
Personally not a fan of their espresso by its self but the blended drinks and lattes hit the spot for sure. I would also say their whipped cream is soooo delicious.
Thx for all the good reviews we found this place, contributing more :))) great coffee and surprisingly great treats. Overall beautiful stylish place. One problem is parking. The is some parking at back streets or opposite side of the PHW. And definetely the best drive through coffee :))) Our secobd visit was not so great. Staff was not friendly, to say the least, I asked for light roast coffee, it arrived as dark roast, almost burned. I am not sure if I am returning. Was able to check on a few more places around with sone success.
Absolutely the Best iced americano. No other place compares.
They have mastered the drive thru quick serve and all of their drinks are great. a very genuine local feel with great quality and fast service.
Turkey sausage burrito was delicious.
Best coffee around and great friendly service.Just love this place
One of the few locally owned and operated Dana Point Coffee shops! Our team goes here regularly and will always support. The service is great, friendly, and Breakfast Burritos always hit the spot!If youre debating between JC Beans or Starbucks...theres no question, youre better off going with the local staple that is J C Beans EVERY TIME!
Drive-Thru CoffeeDoes Life Get Any Better Than That?
Waited over 25 mins for a cappuccino and was blocked by other drive through guests. Dont go there if you see people lined up..
So much better than starbucks, support the small shops not big corporations.
Best chai latte that Ive ever had!
Always a fast and friendly service! I stop by often whenever I swing by Dana Point. Coffee is way better than Starbucks.
It was OK I had vanilla Chai latte it was a little too sweet overall taste was good. I asked for extra hot. It was between warm and hot. A little pricy. I ordered large I thought the menu said $4.70 I was charged $5.30. I didnt say anything I could have been wrong. Would I go there again probably not. You do say best coffee in town and maybe you are thats why the long lines - but I dont drink coffee.
Anything but freaking Starbucks with their cups with coffee flavored sugar! Not a coincidence that they are right next to them!!!
Ok customer service was bad . They literally ignore or have an attitude don’t know if it’s just w girls... anyways They ignored my non dairy request and i had to throw away an overpriced drink? Drive thru took so long in the first place, anyways just passed this place again and realized i needed to review it .
I love their veggie breakfast burrito! Great coffee, too! Worth the wait in the drive thru line.
Drinks are always great, hot and flavorful. Service is top notch. Cozy coffee house seating area. During busy times be patient, the wait will be worth it. Local business and their motto is true: Best coffee in town!
Chai latte with oat milk is the bomb.
One of the few cool coffee places around. Books on the shelves to read, nice quiet inside for work or study, nice patio outside to have a coffee and chat with a friend. Pleasant escape from corporate coffee where the business model tries to turn seats over quickly. Funny, brand S is half a block away. Check out the difference.
Tasty nicely roasted coffee. Delicious food. Good prices. Nice small shop. Relaxing atmosphere. Great employees. Love it!
I love the ambience of J C Beans. Cozy and friendly with delicious coffee and pastries.
This place is SO BOMB but the staff is SO RUDE. they always have an attitude and have gotten my drink wrong 3 times now but when they get it right it’s amazing so I keep going back just wished they weren’t so rude.
10/10 They make the best iced Americano. I know it seems like it shouldnt be that hard, but believe me-- it is. They have a great drive thru system, comparable to Chick-fil-a in efficiency and kindness.
My go to! They have a great coffee, snacks and book selection. Very homey feel inside, free wifi and a wall where you can find some good business and other news on the town. The service is pretty good and I love the drive through on lazy days!
Coffee is good but every time I have been there they have gotten something wrong on the order.
Excellent service and coffee every time!
Drive thru only, good and fast service.
This place is so great ! I explore a ton of new coffee shops when Im traveling and this has been one of my favorite in california so far. The environment is super cozy, in the winter or summer. They have a great patio, very unassuming cafe and the best vanilla chai latte Ive ever had. Its a must - whether youre a local or visiting from out of town !
Best hot Chai Tea Latte around.
Very nice staff will customize your coffee exactly like you want. The coffee is excellent, from all over the world, really good and smooth. I will be back. Little parking in the front, but lots of parking in the rear.
Employees who work there are just flat out rude, do not EVER smile and are NOT PLEASANT to customers. It’s really insane that the owners of this place hires people who treat customers so rude and arrogantly. My family has patronized this business many times hoping it was just an employee or two who had such awful behavior but sadly it’s the majority of people who work there, they totally act miserable and that they hate working there. It’s disappointing since they have really good coffee and other items. We definitely won’t be going there ever again until management takes notice of who is working for them and representing their business. Very disappointed.
I live for this coffee shop. I know half the staff by now and several of them know my order by heart. Amazing coffee, great atmosphere, great prices and they have books for $2 thanks to Friends of the DP Library. If this doesnt give them enough credit then know this: this little independent coffee shop is a mere block from a Starbucks and holds their own just fine while offering a better, more expansive and more affordable menu. Love JC Beans!!!!!
The dark mocha shot is amazing. I am not a huge coffee drinker but this particular shot was fantastic.
Exceptional coffee! really great tasting and loads of options for different roasts. Theyre specialty drinks are great as well. Ambiance is amazing - provides a good environment for sitting and working while people cruise through. The dog friendly patio is also really nice. Baristas are friendly 90% of the time. Not a huge fan of the bar stools at the high tables, theyre pretty uncomfortable for sitting/working for a bit. Biggest complaint is the WIFI though. Its pretty terrible. Ive had to leave all my stuff set up and walk over to the starbucks to download something and then come back to continue working. Only other complaint is that Im surprised theyre not more sustainability focused considered theyre right by the ocean? Plastic straws and cups, loads of plastic on the food etc etc. Definitely the best coffee around though but hope they improve some of their other aspects soon.
Tasty mocha and croissant, cozy environment. Perfect place to settle in for a few hours. Not sure whats up with the complaints about slow wifi - it was plenty fast for me!
Love the food, love the drinks, customer service is horrendous. Two ladies working the register around 11:45am today, 7/7, were the rudest people I’ve ever come in contact with. Any questions I had were a burden, they completely forgot to make our burritos we ordered, (the only thing we ordered) did not apologize when confronted (again acted like we were burdening them), gave us one burrito that wasn’t even heated at all and AGAIN didn’t apologize when confronted. Just served a dirty look as it was being put in the microwave. Very sad because we have loved this place for many years but I will now second guess coming back.
First impression from back entrance was cute with the books on the walls and more relaxed seating arrangements. But unfortunately, it stopped there. The barista who took our order did not want to be there at all. No smile, no greeting, not very friendly when ordering nor helpful with our questions about their menu. Thats what brought the rating down.
Coffee is amazing and their tea as well. Staff are very friendly and are great to talk to.
I really enjoyed this place because its a hidden gem in Dana Point. It had a huge selection of coffees and plenty of breakfast options. I had the ham and swiss croissant. It was amazing. My only reason for not giving the fifth star is because of how cramped it is. They do have zucchini growing the back which I thought was funny.
It was ok. Were each ordered a different flavor and they mixed those up. Parking is a challenge considering the number of seats.
I was so excited to see this on the road and passed Starbucks to enjoy this local hotspot with a drive thru! The gingerbread latte was delicious! I bought some butter pecan coffee that they nicely ground for me and Im looking forward to trying it at home tomorrow morning. Im sure this will become a regular stop when we move up there and Im liy forward to it!!
Baked goods were exceptional! Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Service was delayed and orders delivered in random order - regular coffee drink served after specialty drink (no new pot that we could see being brewed unsure why there was a delay).
Blended chai is good. So is the mocha
No toilet paper and no hand towels. When I spoke the the manager she was rude, didn’t say thank you and basically implied that was my problem and she would deal with it later. Really poor experience.
If youre into coffee this is your place!! Every town needs a gem like this little locals spot. Great menu and also has a drive they which is perfect. Sometimes there is a not of a wait but they have a good system down to get orders out quickly.
Awesome little space to read a book and enjoy a aromatic cup of coffee
Bad customer service from the register to the manager on duty today (Saturday June 8th 2019 @ 9:00 am)I live in Dana point and have been a along time regular customer here. I Always order my coffee the same way ...this one time coffee was not made as ordered... I let cashier and manager know about this and they refused to accommodate and charged me for a full new order ... they don’t care about loyalty or customer satisfaction ... too bad ... won’t be coming here again
Cozy library/den feeling indoors. Outside patio area which is dog friendly. One of a kind local coffee house with musical entertainment Friday and Saturday evenings
My 50/50 was super yummy
Awesome breakfast joint. Very cozy and full of great drinks and comfort food. Breakfast burrito was amazing and they make a fantastic vanilla chai tea latte. Came back the next morning for the same thing.
Wow! Great little hidden secret! Oh and the pastries tastes like my grandmas! Cant wait to come back to Cali for this place
What I believe to be the best coffee in all of Dana Point and the food is great as well!
Local coffee with good prices. Competes well against the neighbor Starbucks, except in efficiency. If youre looking for a quick in and out, may want to go next door. They do have delicious, simple breakfast burritos too. Definitely check it out.
This was my default coffee shop when I lived in Dana Point. Love it.Has all the right qualities: great coffee, WiFi, dog-friendly, friendly staff, even a drive thru.Glad to see they have survived despite Starbucks opening a block away. Then again, Starbucks will open across the street from another Starbucks.(Originally posted to Yelp 01–25-2011)
The Caucasian manager Creates conflict with customers in the store, lying to make her point... Even seen her threaten to call the police on a man waiting silent for his drink... I will never go back!!!
Super cute cafe but horrible if you need to get work done online. This isn’t the place for that. Dreadfully slow WiFi.
LOVE THIS PLACE! I visit JC Beans for the coffee, food and ambience. If I dont bring my own, I am sure to grab one of the vast selection of books to RELAX If I want hi-speed Wi-Fi, I go somewhere else. This is an ideal place to take it easy and enjoy your surroundings. Keep up the good work!
Turkey sausage breakfast burritos 😋
Best lemon poppy seed muffins warmed up and delicious coffee much more comfy and cozy then Starbucks... I do love them both though
Really good ☕! Had the breakfast burrito which was pretty decent for a coffee shop except that it was heated in a microwave. Cool little place with indoor and outdoor seating and great for sitting down with a friend or just to get some work done on the computer.
Absolutely amazing and best cappuccino! Burrito and cookies yummy.
Its not a big place inside but there is sitting outside also and the coffee is nice and service is good.
I might regret writing this review because JC beans is truly the best kept secret of Dana Point. Located in a small house-type building on the side of PCH with the best drinks, great staff, amazing books, and Mocha Freeze. The Mocha Freeze drink will change your life. It will make you a better version of yourself, or completely change who you are. It only comes in one size, the large. You can order it in medium or small, but deep down you know theres only one size. Large. Has a sweet drive thru for those quick mocha freeze pick-me-ups. But I suggest sitting down, its cozy. On the next block over there is a disgusting Starbucks. Support the local business and keep the green lady out of this town.
Dont know how the Starbucks two doors down stays open this is the only place to go: shop small, shop local and everything is better.
Awesome ☕.Their Blueberry Muffins and Scones are delicious. The staff is friendly and fast.
Nice coffee shop. We used the drive thru. Our 4 orders were prepared quickly and correctly. Staff was nice. Lots of choices. 4 cups were only $14. Wouldve been over $20 at StarSmucks.
Delicious pastries!
The Mexican mocha is delicious. Customer service is ok, but the drinks are great!
Love this place! Always order ground coffe to go!
This is the best local coffee. Everyone is friendly. The confections are yummy. This is the place to get coffee in Dana Point...They get all my Stars ☆ & all my Bucks $
Called to find out how many calories the triple zebra mocha is..I spoke to a person. She put me on hold for a while and then someone hung up on me. This happened today.
Just had a vanilla latte with almond milk and it made me into a better man.
We love this place! Best coffee and the best passion fruit ice tea! We get this every weekend.
Visit at least twice a week. Best coffee snd people any place.
They just put bleach in my canteen with out telling me, Im utterly applaud that I used too work there. They deserve too be recommissioning!
A true gathering place. I had fantastic berry waffles.
Really cute place with good coffee, I just wish the Wi-Fi was better for studying
Great iced coffee and fruit tart, a rainy day stop for solo or couples! Nice patio and nicer interior comforts, the laid back vibe is beautiful when the sun sets.
Three stars for effort. Its a homely, warm cafe and Ive experienced good service - though a little slow if its busy. The cake/pastry selection can have some interesting and tasty options. The coffee is just OK. A cappuccino was 1/2 froth but it had some flavor. There was no flat white option unfortunately, as these (done well) have much more velvety milk which incorporates better with the espresso shot, meaning its also sweeter without the need for sugar. You also feel like youre not paying for air bubbles with a flat-white. I bought a small bag of house blend beans (after being told they were medium roast) in the hope I could make a nice coffee at home, but opened the bag to find they were really darkly roasted and oily. This produces a bitter shot with no crema and is kind of unpleasant. Sticking to Kean Coffee from now on or Byron Bay beans from Pienot.
