Lots of fun, unique coffee served here. Also love the variety of snacks/pastries. They have healthy options available as well which is nice.

I was downtown and feeling a bit peckish so I went into Opening Bell Coffee hoping for a scone or something. I ended up having lunch here instead. By 12:45 when I arrived, the lunch crowd had already cleared out. I had the ham and turkey sandwich on toasted wheat. The sandwich had bread and butter pickles on it so that scores highly in my book. The made-to-order sandwich was $9 which is a little pricey. I wish that I were not pressed for time as I would like to sample one of their specialty coffee drinks. I will have to return another time I find myself downtown. I noticed a little stage set up in the corner so I can only assume they have live music here or perhaps a poetry slam. Curiouser and curiouser...alas, look at the time. Someone check out Opening Bells music events and review it, please.

Very cool spot to lounge around, drink and jam out to some live music. I went at night when their was live sound going, which is great. Had wine & tried their Irish coffee. Definitely a must try if youre into that environment. I went during the day but no live music. Not sure if it was timing or they only play at night. But yeah, i suggest popping in at night

Disappointing... arrived 12:20 pm. Informed that they are out of breakfast foods...no eggs, sausage, bacon, So we ordered a turkey sandwich. Then they said also could not provide lunch. We were offered cake or muffins. So we ordered a muffin. Mistake. Ordered a Frappuccino type coffee. It was primarily icee ice.We should have left when we were told they couldnt serve us any prepared foods. Giving two stars only because the space is interesting. Bring your own food and drinks.

This is a relaxed coffee shop to eat, hangout or study. Opening Bell Coffee has free WI-FI and free parking is available in the Retail Parking Lot. My first time was on a Saturday evening and it was a great experience. There was live music and the singers were very talented. My second time here was on a Sunday and I spent my time here working on my laptop. Tuesday’s is open-mic night. A hidden gem in my opinion.

I went for the Motown Review. I will say the establishment is so very coffee housey, the staff was cool, and the artists were very talented. I gave it 3 stars for lack of diversity. Also, some of the songs picked to sing were not even from Motown artists. Maybe some folks dont want to expand or change it up a little. You all do need some color around there and just not on the walls. Overall, it was still a decent way to spend a Saturday night.

Location and vibe: 4 stars. This place is located right next to South Side Ballroom and is underground. Its very spacious and the art and decor is modern, unique, and hipster like. Their vibe is very cool and relaxing (the lighting is pretty dim).Food and drinks: I got the caramel latte [3.5 stars for the latte] and it was too strong for my liking, the price was average compared to Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. They have a delicious key lime pie, which I would get again [5 stars for the pie]. They also have beer and wine for purchase, fyi.5 stars for being cool enough to have live bands play on a regular basis!I will be visiting this place again and bringing some friends to enjoy the night with here.

Cool sublevel venue with a cool vibe. Live entertainment in the evening, Delicious goodies, I could spend all day just checking out all the wall art and posters. I was reminded of a coffee house slash deli in the Bay area I had been to many years ago. The coffee is good also. The young lady (Lexi) at the register was quick and efficient. Loved it. If youre in the mood for a good cup and a trendy atmosphere its a must that you take time and sit awhile. I know youll be just as impressed as I am.

Opening bell coffee it is a real gem found on the south side of Dallas. It’s really hard to miss and you wouldn’t know if you didn’t know. It’s located on the basement level of an apartment building and the atmosphere is out of this world. Everywhere I have ever gone for coffee I always order an iced soy latte with three shots in it, and based on the skill of the barista is how well that drink will come out. This on was 100%. The Wi-Fi is fast and the drinks are delicious plus, who doesn’t want a giant rotating Scrabble set in the background?

Great specialty coffee shop located right in Uptown. Crooked Tree is an old house converted into a business so it has that nice charm to it, with an open space for seating up front and a smaller space in the back that seems like it might have once been a dining room or something. 11/30/19 Opening Bell has great atmosphere and entertainment. Unfortunately, we waited nearly an hour for a COLD SANDWICH. The place was nearly empty when we ordered, before the live music started. We were there to see our friends perform. The order was placed at 6:13pm. We got our hot chocolate around 6:45 and the sandwich at about 7:00pm. If our friends were not performing, we would have demanded a refund and left.

Caveat: This review rates Opening Bell as a live music venue.I see a friend play here a couple times a year.Staff are friendly, coffee is good, selection of wine and beer works well for social outings. The space feels good for a music venue, particularly for singer-songwriters.Ive noticed that people that bring their teenagers have a good experience, so there is something about the space that is engaging... maybe the games... maybe because it is downtown... my teenage daughter doesnt think it sucks, and I think that is a good sign.I always enjoy coming here. The one caution: Parking can be an issue interlocking with other events in the area... wouldnt hurt to figure that out in advance.

Opening Bell, along with Cafe Brazil and Buzz Brews, fills real social vacancy in Dallas. A major city should have a place to go for coffee and conversation in the evening besides a national chain. Opening Bell is that kind of comfortable, quirky, funky place. They have good coffee, muffins, a few other munchies, and theres a sandwich shop next door. There are also games (please bring back the puzzle table!) and live music. And they have a vibe all their own.
