This review is for the Covina, Ca. store on Arrow Highway and Azusa Ave.Excellent quality and prices for produce and service in the produce area. Poor service at the check-out area. So, 5 stars for produce, 1 star for the check-out area.I make a lot of vegetable juice for myself and others on the weekend. Because of using a large quantity of vegetables, places such as this with low produce prices makes it more economical.They were out of stock on beets, and didnt have the large tomatoes that I saw last weekend when I visited to check it out for the future. Not having the large tomatoes was disappointing (since I use a lot of them), but I got some smaller ones.I asked a young employee about the beets that they didnt have. He was very helpful and professional, checking in the back and saying when they would be back in stock.The problem was in the check-out line. There were only a couple of people ahead of me, but the wait was about 10 minutes or more. The main point is that it was slower and taking longer than it should have.One customer had an item that wouldnt scan, so the cashier entered the numbers, which didnt work. We had to wait for someone to come and get the item from the cashier and go to check the price. There were other delays of various kinds, including the cashier making numerous announcements--about 4 or 5--on the loud speaker. I wont go into detail about the other delays.I was being patient, and it was FINALLY my turn--or so I thought. The cashier said that she had to wait for a cash pick up because she had too much in her drawer. I said that I was paying with a credit card (so cash wasnt involved), but she said it didnt make a difference, we had to wait.The considerate and professional course of action would have been to recognize that I already had to wait longer than normal for all the delays that had already transpired before this point. Therefore, apologize for the delay and ring up my items, THEN DO THE CASH PICK UP!By the way, throughout my life, many people have commented on my being a patient person. Even so, this situation tried my patience. It certainly would have been more of an irritation to many other customers.I hope that management (especially in the headquarters) takes note of this and provides proper training for the cashiers. Especially, not to make a customer that has already waited a long time, wait even more unnecessarily.Ive also shopped for produce at Superior, which is actually closer to my home. Ill probably shop there instead.

Susan the cashier is such a rude woman. There were no signs to show entry and so I accidentally walked through the exit door. There was security who didn’t bother me but Susan screamed at the top of her voice like she was speaking to her child telling me to go back and find the entrance. I had never been to this store before!!! I asked her for directions and she had such an unfriendly and irritated look. I found her behavior and reaction off putting and unprofessional!!! I bought my cat fish and left her in peace. Not going back! The gentleman at the sea food was pleasant, a young man. That’s it!!!

Clean store. Mexican sweet bread (pan dulce) is all pre-bagged for your convenience. Depending on what the item is, you get anywhere between 2 -4 pieces.

Very clean, very organized, very kind staff. The cashiers are friendly & after coming often I’ve even back friends with some. The girl that works at the deli section was very kind when I asked if something was vegan & even went out of her way to go check the ingredients.

Managers are not training well, they don’t know how to solve problems. The meat manager don’t inspect the meat often, because the chicken that I bought today was past ruined, smell bad. When I called to let them know, one of the managers put on hold for more then 20 minutes, and never helped me.

Good place to shop. Alot of cheap fresh produce.

People are really friendly here. We bought a tres leches cake from bakery, it was amazing. Believe it or not, horrible selection for salsa though. I know we usually make it homemade, but we were traveling and staying in hotel, was hoping to get a good salsa for our meal and couldnt find one, jar or fresh. But a good Mexican market none the less.

Todays experience was much better than my previous visits. Super friendly checker. Fresh produce. However, I never spotted any manger specials that are usually the goal of early morning shoppers.

Usually a cheaper alternative to Superior but done expect to find everything you need. Try to check their ad online or in your Wednesday paper for those great deals.Staff is always friendly and the location is very clean.

I’m really surprise with this store everything Is way better, clean, organized, really good costumer service, I find everything I was looking for having new management make this store great now, last time I was here 2 years ago the store look awful to be honest, today I was close and I decided to go again but my this time my experience was good keep up with the good work, seriously this store is so clean now!

My only problem with El Super store is that most of the staff speaks Spanish and they have a hard time understanding when I need assistance. Otherwise; theyre okay and you can find some pretty good deals

Its ok. I prefer El Super in Long Beach on Long Beach Blvd, or one in Lynwood. They have better bakery and food court. The only issue here is there are never enough cashiers so the lines are usually long especially if you just want to grab baked goodies real quick. Just my two cents.

Vegetables and fruits are alwayes fresh and good, and not so pricy like other stores, may be its not shown in a fancy way like other markets but still better and shipper

Some of their process are good like the veggies and fruit but the employee I aked for help in perfect English no accent or anything said I dont speak English so I got 1 thing and left.

I go to this market quite often because the price is pretty good on vegetables and fruits. They might not be highest grade but acceptable quality. It looks like the bring the produce straight from the fields without cleaning process so they have to be thoroughly washed and clean all the dirt before cooking. Im not sure about the meats and seafood.They dont look fresh and the meat area always has a funky smell so Im afraid to buy their meats and seafood and the workers in that department speaks little or no English. One time I tried to ask a question to the meat department manager but he can hardly understand what I was asking. So it could be frustrating. I also think they can do a better job on keeping the whole market cleaner.

The Mgr samuel doesnt have the slighest idea of custoner service. I had an issue with the lotto machine. The machine was on but not all functions were working. The machine had my money and the Mgr said it wasnt his machine so there was nothing he could do and he just blew me off.another employee ( older lady with white hair) she understood that i shouldnt just lose my money, so she went in office and gave me my money.I think samuel needs a serious training in customer service.

The produce they have is always going bad.. Ive seen lemons with mold and zucchinis literally falling apart and gooey . The meat department servers are always too distracted having conversations with each other while they are getting the costumer order and 3 out of 5 times get the weight wrong.The lines are ridiculously long and they could see the lines spiraling and only have THREE of their 10 registers open...Then you have the cashiers ugh... They have some pretty bitchy cashiers. Its like they have power highs standing behind those registers,they treat the customers rude and with disrespect. Oh and God forbid you have to come back and correct a mistake theyve made because theyll make you look like a thief before they return your $ or correct their mistake. . But I mean the prices are OK. Sometimes.

After a 2 year hiatus from Covina I came back and this store has gone downhill. The produce is trash, the prices are meh, and honestly Id rather go to Walmart and pay a little more for a better product. This store used to be great and hopefully I just caught them on a bad day but I doubt it.

Store was very clean and food and vegetables were fresh, but when someone is being paid in American currency is it too much to expect them to speak English or attempt to learn English.

Ive recently moved into the Covina, Ca area and compared to most Latino tiendas El Super does its job and covers the very familiar fruits and vegetables most Latinos expect from their local grocery stores. Lots of deals are posted, but the meat and cheese deals although evident were still not the best Ive found in the area.

Walked in for hot food like I normally do when I see an El Super....... Wheres the hot food??? No bueno...

I gave this place 3 stars only because they have the cheapest paper towels anywhere. The store itself, while clean, has pretty much nothing but Mexican products so dont go in there looking for Spiffy Brand! Or Kraft or Kelloggs, cause all youll find is El Crunchy Elotes or something. Dont like the look of their produce either, looks like the last place the trucks stop, the meat department doesnt look too great either... And theres always some bum begging for drug money Im the parking lot. Sheesh!
