Incredible custom system hand built in this fantastic shop. Michael knows what he is doing, and made my car sound like no other. For someone like me who rarely sets foot in another shop for work, I was comfortable to know it was in capable confident hands. The results of the install are beyond my expectations, OEM fit and finish, unparalleled sound quality. Great job Michael.

Michael has repaired and installed factory stereos and Bluetooth systems for me for over 10 years. His work is impeccable, better than the dealers, and sometimes while I wait. Ive also seen his custom installations, and have been blown away by his knowledge and workmanship. With Michael, I always know the work will be done with utmost skill, and per the schedule. Hell be installing a new system in my ski boat this year. It means a lot to me that I can completely rely on Michael for exemplary on-time work. Bravo!

I have been in the car audio game for years and have been to high level and low level shops. I decided to try Method Sound because when I walked into Mike’s shop his tools were clean and well organized. My father was a mechanic who took very good care of his tools and always told me if a guy doesn’t take care of his tools. You think he is going to take great care of your car. When I talked to Mike over the next couple days, he was restoring the interior of a BMW M3. M3’s are collectors items, and worth a lot of $...I thought...if he’s good enough to be trusted with an M3...he’s good enough to work on my car. I was not disappointed!!! The labor is not cheap...but you get what you pay for! And Mike was upfront with the estimate and never went over budget. He also used top of the line cables and connectors! Anyone who has ever installed a car stereo knows the devil is in the details! And to mind the details takes more time and patience. My car came out and it completely exceeded my expectations! It has been about 6 months and I now consider Mike a friend...if you have a bmw, Mercedes, Lamborghini are any custom car that you cherish I would trust Mike and PAY him to do the install without a doubt. What people don’t understand is at the bigger shops or low end shops, there is usually the manager or owner that is very knowledgeable and experienced...but to deal with the volume he hires inexperienced helpers that he can pay cheaply to increase production...and you go back there and some 16 year old kid that doesn’t know what he is doing is hacking into your car...to...”gain experience”! That is not the level of workmanship that I demand! If you want quality craftsmanship...trust Mike...he will take care of the vehicle that you cherish!

Method Sound charges 20% to 50% more than local competition. He rambles a lot about quality, but hardly delivers. The products he uses can be bought on your own for 70-90% less on Amazon. On top of that, they are poorly rated products.I asked him for a quote, a month later he scribbled some numbers on the back of receipt paper. He didnt even take the time to write it on his letterhead. I showed it to 3 different competitors in the area and everyone beat his price by a landslide. My advice is this, dont get caught up talking to him. Get the quote. Review the products he is planing on using in your vehicle through independent research. Check Amazon pricing to make sure he is being fair and not inflating prices like he did to me. Then compare it to other audio shops.

Michael is by far the most knowledgeable person ive ever spoken to about Car Audio. In 2016 he installed a system in my BMW that was so amazing that when someone rear ended and totaled my car, my immediate concern was for the amplifiers and subwoofers he installed in my trunk.I then bought a new BMW and had a hard time enjoying driving it because the quality of BMW sound systems is just so horrible.Michael was the the only person I trusted with such a delicate task so I scheduled an appointment with him and dropped off my car late at night since I live so far away and couldnt make it during the daytime. He kept me updated, sending me short videos of different parts of the install and it was obvious that he is extremely passionate about car audio. The sound quality in my car now sounds amazing, just like the first time. I love the fact that I never have to mess with the settings on the amps regardless of the type of music Im playing. He tunes them to the correct settings and he does it right, which makes a big difference. His prices are a little high compared to other shops but rightfully so. He does everything the way its supposed to be done and takes absolutely no shortcuts. His time is valuable and his work is excellent. I am very grateful I found him.

We wanted an old stereo system replaced in our car, Michael gave us options, advise and a good price. He spent more than double the time he expected for installation, we found residual noise after we drove out and returned the following day to have it rewired. He did not charge us for any of the over time nor for the rewiring. Fair prices, good advice and quality work.

I have tried more car audio shops than I care to admit and have spent way more money over the past five years than any sane person should on trying to get my M3s system the way I want it. I finally found Method Sound a couple years ago. Michael is a perfectionist, has my best interests in mind, and REALLY knows what hes doing. I am a very picky person, and Michael meets all of my expectations every time. I have referred friends to Method Sound who have been equally as happy. Highly recommended.

Method Sound did a very good job on my Scion xB. Nothing fancy. Just excellent components and great workmanship. Fully integrated with the Panasonic GPS radio and digital FM system. Highs (tweeters) and Lows (subwoofer) make my Toaster sound like a live performance - up close!

Last month (July 2018) I brought my 2015 (3rd Generation) F56 Mini Cooper S to Michael, with numerous problems. A very long story-truncated...my problems began when I thought I could remove the base factor radio head from my Mini Cooper/BMW car product. Easy enough to have the radio head removed, except removing the radio doesnt allow the dealer to perform any diagnostic or software upgrades as the radio is an integral piece that allows components A and C to talk to each other. Without the head unit, you have technically voided the factor warranty. After using 2 local independent stereo shops here in Huntington Beach. The first installer, HB Auto Sound, put in a Pioneer Avic-8200, but the AM radio picked up only 4 stations and with lots of static. Brought it back and they dismissed it as this or that. Decided to seek out a second installer hoping to find someone with more knowledge than the last, and I did at Automotive Entertainment, except that ended poorly as well. I gave both installers either a second or 3rd opportunity to rectify the resultant problems. Neither performed satisfactorily. Unfortunately the first installer may have known that the head unit must not be removed and must be reinstalled within the vehicle and linked, but they did not inform me of that. The second installer new this but was unable to wire in both the factor radio along with the aftermarket radio. After spending several thousand dollars to have installed an $800 dollar radio, I needed some time to reevaluate both my sanity and my bucket list of must haves.I then asked, in desperation, my local BMW service shop staff person, Terry Best at Bullet Automotive, for his go to stereo guy and thats when I met Michael Thompson, sole proprietor of Method Sound, located in Costa Mesa.ALL PROBLEMS WERE SOLVED BY MICHAEL THOMPSON!!! To my relief, Michael knew of most of my issues and those he did not, he researched and pursued until he had a satisfactory resolution. Michael made numerous worthwhile suggestions and recommendations to improve the overall stereo sound quality and also reduce the road noise to provide an improved ride within the vehicle. Michael is extremely talented at manufacturing and customizing shelving, speaker and component housings in numerous mediums: wood, plastics, fiberglass and composites. His workmanship and knowledge of what components, speakers and amplifiers would work well with each other for your vehicle or your budget was in a class that I did not find at any other chain or independent electronics storefront. During the stereo, speaker and amp installation and fabrication process of my vehicle, Michel sent me picture and text message updates and followed up with a phone call at evenings end.My recommendation, before upgrading, or as I did-rebuilding from scratch, your vehicle sound system, I highly recommend you take the time to visit with Michael in his shop. If you have a one of a kind problem or dilemma, as I did with modifying a sound system in a 3rd generation mini cooper, do not hesitate to contact Michael, hes a problem solver and you will have spent your time wisely. Michael will also be installing a Rydeen 360 degree blind spot camera view and monitor system for my 29 foot RV in the very near future. I again thank you Michael. Best regards, Dave Unger.

My wife and I heard one of Michaels instalations in a Challenger; the sound quality, clarity, and imaging were astounding. I contacted him to see what he could do for our Challenger. We live 2000 miles away, but Michael made up a complete kit for me to install that included sound deadening materials, mounting adapters, and specially-packaged speakers. Even his adapters looked perfect, as if they were made in a machine-shop.The installation went in smoothly and now we, too, enjoy the best sound weve heard in an automobile. All he did was substitute speakers (and add two). I would characterize his kit a minimus install with a maximus result. It seems as if you can touch the place where the music comes from, its that precise.
