Recently went in there just to browse but sure enough walked out with a pair of new black diamond skis. Dylan and Elliot, were both super knowledgeable and helpful. Wouldnt have pulled the trigger had it not been for their expertise. Great shop, phenomenal brands and even better customer service!

Haven’t been to this physical store, but my online shopping experience has been superb.Customer Service:There were some glitches with my original purchase, but this provided me insight into Gear Coop’s customer service. And let me tell you, customer service and response time is superb. As a matter of fact, customer service is not a whole mess of people, but rather, one individual. Holly was so helpful both via phone and e-mail!Shipping:We are all spoiled by Amazon Prime 2-day shipping. Gear Coop knows this and offers free 2-day shipping (>$50 purchases) via Amazon shipping affiliates.Price:Managed to get the item I was looking for at a great (very rare) sale price. This is a retailer definitely willing to rotate items on discount, so check often.I’ll definitely be a returning customer.

Excellent place to get high quality gear and if you have proof, they price match. Best is when they have their Spring and Fall blowout sales. They literally have to make room for the upcoming season items (the store is also the warehouse). They have a website.

Everybody at the coop is wonderful. Beer and Bouldering is a really good time with a fun group every week. Special events like movie screenings are always done really well. Great for trying/buying climbing shoes as theres a wall to test on and their return/exchange policy is top notch.Couldnt recommend higher.

I purchased a Giro helmet from Gear Coop via Amazon.com and received a confirmation email and delivery date of April 26th-April 30th. on April 30th (the latest delivery date) I got an email from Amazon saying that the seller had cancelled my purchase because they no longer had the product in stock. I complained to Amazon and they told me that there was nothing that they could do about it because it was Gear Coop that dropped the ball. based on my experience with Gear Coop I would not recommend anyone purchase anything from someone who accepts payment for something they do not have and can not sell you.

Nice little shop with a small climbing wall. Great selection of climbing aids. Could use more ropes. It is a “co-op” of just one store which I find odd. Staff is friendly. They were having an outlet sale across the street from the store at their warehouse. Again, odd since they have just one location. 4 stars strictly because of the size of the store.

The people here are super friendly and nice! They even have a bouldering cave to try the shoes out. Also a great return policy.I went to buy a gym rope and the employees there were super helpful. One of them (i cant remember her name) helped me pick out a decent length rope and even went into the back to grab it since it wasnt on display up front. Then she helped me find a rope bag to go with it. They didnt try to steer me to the more expensive stuff that i didnt need, which I really appreciate.Ill definitely go back.

I love this shop. I am fortunate to be able to go to the retail store in Costa Mesa, but I have also ordered from them online and never had any issues. I have read other comments on here about delivery problems and that sounds like an Amazon issue. I have never had any issues with returns. Its nice to have another place to go other than REI for more specialized gear and better selections. The staff is great and this is my go to spot for all outdoor gear.

Came in before closing and the guy was very helpful still. Very laid-back and relaxed work atmosphere. Theres also a free wall climbing setup too, Ill come back here to check it out in the future. They dont carry everything from online though as that comes from a warehouse, which makes sense knce you walk in.

Really great for ordering climbing shoes online. Climbing shoes can be pretty difficult to size correctly without trying them on first, so the free shipping and free return shipping on orders >$50 (i.e. basically all shoes) allows you to order a couple pairs to make sure you get the right fit. I found the return process pretty easy and everything went smoothly.

Ive been trying to avoid shopping on Amazon because I am opposed to their labor practices and believe that their dominance of online retail and other sectors of the economy is bad for our society. Gear Coop had a legit-looking website, so I figured they were an independent retailer, but I ordered a pair of shoes from them and they came from Amazon with a gift receipt. Im willing to pay a little more for things if I can avoid shopping on Amazon and support smaller businesses, but Im not a fan of paying someone a markup just for ordering an item for me from Amazon.

Cant say enough good things about these guys! By far, the best online retailer for outdoor gear. They have an excellent selection of climbing gear. And I have to commend their customer service.I bought a BlueWater rope from them and was really not pleased with its performance after using it for 6 months. They took it back and gave me a full refund. They will definitely be getting my business in the future!

Ordered a Metolius Personal Anchor System through Amazon (sold by Gear Coop) that clearly stated it came with a blue Bravo locking carabiner. It didnt, though. The only remedy Amazon can offer is a return/refund. When I spoke with Jessica at the Gear Coop, I was told that the Gear Coop basically has no connection to this transaction and therefore no responsibility. This may be partly true, but its my opinion that a business should take full responsibility for anything sold under their name. Wont be purchasing anything from the Gear Coop ever again.

I placed my first order, and the correct Patagonia item was delivered, but it wasnt the correct color. When I called customer service, Jessica informed me that the color I ordered was now sold out. I was at least sent a label for return shipping. I then placed a second order for a similar Patagonia product, and after waiting a week, I received an e-mail from a customer service rep (Jessica again) stating that the product I had ordered was no longer in stock. No credible reason as to why it took a week to make that determination or why their computer system would allow an order with no inventory. I purchased the same item from another vendor at a higher price and requested a refund for the difference from Gear Co-op. A customer service rep (yep, you guessed it-Jessica) contacted me and indicated that they wouldnt send a refund. Im not sure what the problem is with this company, but there have been enough red flags that I would not attempt to do business with Gear Co-op in the future. I hope that my experience has been an isolated incident and that others will fare better.

The worst experience I have ever had with a store. I ordered skis from them with one day express shipping, these skis arrived seven days later. This was not even the part I was mad about. This pair of skis arrived with one ski inside the box? How does that even happen? How can a company even manage to fail on that high of a level. Terrible.

Trying to return an item...getting the run around. Nothing in the package. So, go back to the website to find out what needs to be done. Have to send an email requesting a RMA. RMA comes a day later then told to go back to website to Please visit your customer account, to note the conditions of your return product, access important documents, and follow the progress of the return. Cant find where this information is or where to input it.Tried calling, phone number listed is not working.Cant you just provide return information in the package that states the return address? Three days later and Im still no closer to returning the item. This will be the first and last time I do business with this outfit.

This appears to be a tale of two stores: One that gets five stars as a shop into which locals can drop-in, shop, climb, pet a dog and generally have a good time, while the other is that of a one-star online retailer and distributor that, based on the feedback from the 1-star reviews, does not know how to fulfill an order nor provide customer service beyond its four walls. Take a look at the 1-star reviews, items arriving late or not at all, an order containing one ski...one ski!, items received as incomplete or not as advertised. My experience was similar in that a snowboard that I had ordered via Amazon several weeks ago just never shipped. No explanation. Neither GC, FedEx or Amazon could tell me where the board disappeared to. FedEx tracking showed that it got no farther than label creation. As someone who works in a distribution center, this by my interpretation means that GC created the label but a package never left the shop. And this order fulfillment failure is consistent with the Google and Yelp reviews related to product shipping and receiving. Amazon, demonstrating proper customer service, is refunding us for the board AND the bindings that we received (as promised from another vendor), but here we are with boots, bindings and all other gear ordered and received for our ski trip and Gear Coop could not deliver one board...literally. Very disappointed as we are left with no time to shop for another board before our trip.
