I made it clear that I only wanted Ricardo to service me. My request was to have the dark brown semi permanent hair color shampooed out and a lighter brown color . He instead had two other people put color in my hair and it was bright orange. He then said because of the chemicals in my hair .....I have not slept. It took two years for me to get healthy hair and growth. After I wanted the color corrected and sent a picture to another hair stylist. She informed me that my hair was bleached and very damaged. Not only did Ricardo not tell me of chemicals going into my hair, but he had two other people do it. In order to correct the damage, I need hair masks and must keep heat including blow drying away from my hair. This means I cant style it for at least 2 months. I am so angry I cant think straight. I am scared my hair is going to break off. Damaging my hair for $125.00 is ...I have no word.Below is clip and paste from text response by Ricardo:I know your hair is frágil after the color remover, and that why I offer deep conditioning treatments, it has nothing to do with my assistants work, thats the reason because having dark brown hair . Let me know when you can make it . If you still want to come in . I am sorry y should have say no to remove the color .My answer:I did not request color removal. I asked for it to be shampooed out. It was semi perm color. You, as my stylist should have discussed this process with me PRIOR to it being done. If you think for one moment after two years of bringing my hair to the strength and length that it was, I would have said, okay to stripping the nutrients and oils from my hair and making it fragile, you are crazy. Why would I do that. Bright orange? And you know I made it clear that I didnt want any but you to do my hair. You didnt care. But you do now. And hopefully this wont happen to anyone else.

I love going here, they do great work and Ricardo the owner walks around checking on how his workers do and he talks to his clients, they are always welcoming when you walk in the door.

THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU GO HERE!!! The owner is EXTREMELY unprofessional and started telling my stylist off right in front of me for no apparent reason (this happened 3 times). He thought we were talking about him and I DO NOT know him, so theres no apparent reason why I would engage in talking about him! He aggressively confronted my stylist as Im in the salon chair. Again, this happened 3 times within an hour of being there. The first time, he told my stylist that he was watching and listening to us in a very rude and snappy way. I quietly told my stylist that his comment made me uncomfortable. 5 minutes later, he came up to my stylist (as Im still sitting in the salon chair) and said, if you want a job still, you better shut your mouth. So, I calmly told him that it made me uncomfortable, because it was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL for him to confront his stylist in front of a client. Then, he said, if you dont like it missy then leave. So I did. As I was leaving I told him that I wouldve appreciated if he wouldve pulled the stylist aside and talked to him. Also, he literally flipped out on me and told me to leave simply because I said I felt uncomfortable. Who wouldnt feel uncomfortable?! I left the salon without my hair being finished either. IT LOOKS AWFUL!

Love getting my hair cut here. The prices are reasonable, the hair stylists are proffesional and most of the time available for walk ins.

I came up with this place by using google maps. Only to find a really professional hair stylist. My hair is very hard to work on and Ricardo did an outstanding job. I recommend this place 100%.

So I am biracial with kinky curly hair... living in Orange County, CA. Searching for a salon that specializes in naturally curly hair is very hard, unless you know someone that can refer you to a great salon OR I would always have to go to Los Angeles! Ugh! Not anymore though! I did a Google search and found Hair by Ricardo, which is a universal hair salon that works with all types of hair including kinky, coily, naturally curly African American hair. At first I was a bit skeptical thinking they couldnt possibly know how to work with my hair, but after having a conversation with the hairdresser, Maritza and seeing Ricardo doing hair on one of his African American clients, my doubts were put to rest and I am convinced they know what they are doing. For any of my sisters of color looking for a hair salon that works with our kind of hair, you may want to check out Hair by Ricardo in Costa Mesa - its worth the drive! Ask for Maritza or Ricardo!

I went to get a haircut at this place and they just ruined my hair. They made a bunch mistakes, they passed me from one woman to the other trying to fix their errors, finally I end up with a really bad hair cut, and a cut on my ear and on top of that, I paid for it... so please go somewhere else. Save yourself the disappointment - as you can see in this picture - the worst haircut of my life. Worse place ever, NEVER GOING BACK!😠
