The week before Thanksgiving 2020 only half the shoppers were wearing masks. Also, graffiti on the front door and an obese security guard in front of the registers give an overall sense of doom. They have a drive through pharmacy which is good for the upcoming outbreak. Go to to Safeway just down the highway.

Good place to get some get alot of things, groceries, meds, Starbucks, even a bank.

I have been loyally shopping here with pleasure for 15 years. I don’t know what corporate genius came up with the recent “renovation” idea but the really dropped the ball. Smaller Isles. Torn up ugly floor. No logical organization. Instead of the paper products being in one isle, they only fill half and then you find unrelated items like canned goods. The rest of the paper products are on another isle. I assume this is to direct the customer past items them might not normally buy. But it’s inconvenient and confusing. The customers I’ve talked to hate it. I would stop shopping here if it wasn’t for the gas points. Two thumbs down!

Wouldn’t give me my change back due to coin shortage which is a pile of BS. There is not a shortage. Wanted me to donate it or put it on my city market card. Cashier didn’t know how to do that. Instead I had to pay with my credit card for $300 ish. Your store just lost at least 3% for me swiping my card cause you wouldn’t take my cash. Cash is your customers not yours to hold hostage. Give customers their money back.

I live in New Mexico. While we were in transition from Wyoming, we stopped in Cortez. Our hotel was across the street from City Market. Not only was it a beautiful store, it had a huge selection of hot wheels!!!! The integrity and professional attitude of the general manager was second to none. We now travel here two to three times a year, and City market and its staff are a large part of that. The whole experience is top notch. THANK YOU

Went to the store here in Cortez picked up pork chops got home and they were spoiled. We return to the store and return them they replaced them we came back home and went to cook the chops today and they were spoiled so everybody watched their meat.

I’ve been a satisfied customer for 16 years. I shopped today for the first time since the re-arrangement. What a mess. Couldn’t get past other customers in the new narrow aisles . Couldn’t get the cart past the displays set up in the aisles. I am totally disappointed. I refuse to go to Walmart, so I guess I’m now a customer of Safeway. Let me know when you change it back. Cortez store.

Terrible COVID precautions!There is a state mandate for masks that is not enforced, carts are not cleaned and they don’t offer hand sanitizer for customers as they walk in.

I was racially profiled by security. I was kicked out after purchasing a teddy bear and soda for my daughter. I was embarrassed in front of people. The manager that day did nothing. When I ask for someone higher he told me he was busy. Didnt even check. I returned what I purchased. Is this how they treat paying customers? I watch other people hang out there. Maybe a lawyer might be interested with how I was treated.

I was in Citi market today,and I want to add that Ive read reviews and I agree with all the people concerned with the mask thing, I saw mr. Krogers response to masks and racial profiling, and Nothing is different! Mr. Kroger dont talk... Do ! Put on a mask and go see for yourself. Otherwise you are supporting the problem. I did it myself and I was asked if I was the mask police. Just trying to keep everyone safe. Still as of 1/23/21,mask enforcement is at a Low. Not one employee will say anything to the people not wearing masks. Thats why we are where we are... when are you going to start caring? Show it with actions,and grow up! I will continue to say something every time I go in this store. Am I the only real man left? Join me mr. Kroger.Someone who goes in a grocery store for the first time, doesnt need to interact with a general manager... unless there was a problem.

Have been shopping here for more than 25 years and find their customer service to be consistently great. Their sales are the best and if you shop sales and use their digital coupons they have the best prices in town. For a town the size of Cortez its a great place to shop..

Most if the time they have what I need. Sometimes Ill buy something and it expires faster than the date, I once bought freezer burnt chicken there but didnt know until I got home and tried to cook it. However the club discounts save me A TON and Ill take my risk shopping there still.

Whoever is at the self checkout today 10.3.20 at 1230pm. Is a horrible worker. I was in the self checkout and had one item and one coupon. I stood there waiting for her to come over and help with the coupon because you have to. About 10 min later after she talked with other customers and went into what i believe to be an office she finally came and helped me. While coming to help me not one word no sorry didnt realize you were waiting nothing. Worst customer service ever.

The best people work at this store. Courtesy and helpfulness abound. Quick check outs at self-check or conventional, and good produce. All these things keep me going back to this store weekly.

Super disappointed with the pickup service. I ordered two of the leaf lettuce and paid $1.49 for it, only to receive very small lettuce. I ordered tomatoes and I received two bad ones that I had to throw away. I also ordered cherry tomatoes, which had mold on it and again had to throw away. Then on top of all this they gave my order to someone else. The couple came back with my order. What sucked is my food was in a car with a dog, yuck! Will go to Safeway from now on!

What a nice location in a neat town

I enjoy shopping at City Market in Cortez because the customer service is over the top. I can always count on the weekly sales to help feed my family of 5 on a budget. I do not recommend the pharmacy at City Market as there are always over 30 minute waits to get prescriptions no matter how many people are working there. Also have received less than polite service from staff at the pharmacy. But the rest of the store is great. Shelves are nicely stocked and store is always clean.

Tourists! i loved the deli superfood salad & chicken salad- ready to go, fresh made, healthy fast food alternative! Great selection of merchandise. Great convenient location. Friendly staff! Fast checkout!

Abselutly love this store..Everything and more..Lillys chocolate stevia....the only store I know that have it otherwise I have order on Amazon.Good for you Cortez..

Really great selections. Lots of kombucha teas and specialty beverages. I loved that they have my brand of dog food!

Very well stocked store. They do a great job particularly in the produce department which needs a lot of attention by employees to keep clean and the produce looking fresh. They excel at this.

Update: Now the isles are even more narrow causing frequent traffic jams in them, and they moved everything around in the entire store so now its even more difficult to find out they dont have what I want. I used to love this store for its location and the wonderful staff; genuinely nice, and helpful people. However, Im often irritated with it because they move stuff around frequently and often dont have many items Im grocery shopping for; Items that they have one week, but their out of it the next. Im driving farther for my groceries because of these continued failures.

We were visiting from out of town and I wanted to get a cake to celebrate my sons 4th birthday. It was short notice and I was only expecting a generic birthday cake maybe with confetti or something already in the case because I know decorators need time for special orders. Jordan in the bakery went above and beyond to put together an awesome Thomas the Tank Engine cake with only an hour notice and was so excited to do it! We are so appreciative of her willingness to go above and beyond what was expected to make a little boys birthday awesome! And for her first cake she did a terrific job!

Great vegetable selection...easy access. Provides money services if needed. Also have a nice Deli in back of store.

City Market does have a great selection and an okay Starbucks.I really only go here if I absolutely have to.However..There is a big tall guy that wears a cap who will stand in various areas throughout the store and stare you down. I caught staring my five year old girl so I will avoid him at all costs. I understand that he might have ties to the store but his creepiness factor is big.The employees will follow you and stand really close while you shop. Even WALMART doesnt have this level of employees who profile.On the other hand..Great pricing on soda and the gas discounts help out the most.

The sushi could be fresh like their Kroger branch and the Starbucks kinda sucks. their caramel latte is super bitter even after i ask for it to be sweet. also, what with it not having wine or Smirnoff?????

Superb customer service. Many of the employees have been there for a long time. They care about their customers.Groceries and gas are also the cheapest here. Its a smaller store, but they have a wide variety, including a large selection of organic products.

Had gotten 10xs better since they started carrying more organic products. It is actually a really great grocery store for a small town in SW Colorado. On top of all that, everyone is always super friendly.

I love my City Market (and most other City Markets)! Great produce, wide variety of goods and wonderful friendly service. So thankful.

I have had the absolute worst experience with the pharmacy. I have given them months to get it together, thinking maybe the couple times I had to wait hours for a prescription that had been called in at least 24 hours ahead of time, was just because they were busy. But I have now been told many different times that my prescription would be ready at a certain time, drive over 30 minutes to get there, just to find out my prescription still isnt ready!! If I could give 0 stars I would.

Natures intent dark chocolate dried fruit is just one of the great selection you can find there.

We unload a cart full of groceries onto the belt and some manager that thought that gathering carts was more important than bagging groceries. They had plenty of carts.

I have been shopping at City market here in Cortez, CO for 23 years...and have always loved this store..This is the first time I am truly dissapointed. I was really happy when they started their Simple Truth Brand..as I can only eat Organic food due to numerous food 6allergies...but all of a sudden they have SEVERELY! cut down on their Organic Produce, which, I like others depend on..So Please if You read this Rating..Please mention this to the Produce and or Store Manager as I have....Safeway has cut down too..The only other alternative for us Organic/Natural food people will be to Shop in Durango a 100 mi round trip from Cortez or to Farmington, NM. A 150-60 mi round trip...I dont know about anybody else ... But this is scary for me...Thank You D Perry..

So crowded that after 15 minutes of circling around for a parking spot we parked at another business and one of us had to wait in the car while the other ran in to get water etc. for the road trip. It was such a madhouse inside, however (noisy, huge lines at checkout stands, even the express ones), that we ended up not buying anything and heading for the nearest gas station instead.

Amazing selection of foods for excellent prices. The only place we shop for food, pharmacy and bank. Love it.

I have always received fantastic service at the Cortez city market. It is my preferred place to shop. I enjoy the way the staff is so friendly and helpful.

Not nearly as clean as other City Markets Ive been in. The ribs I bought were tasteless. Produce area looked reasonably good. Im a fan of city market, so this was a disappointing visit. I hope it can get cleaned up.

Dont mind the idiots and rude customers. They will not respect you regardless of what you did or what the community does. Most arent locals or are too old to respect other people. Lacks a few items I love too. But its far better than most other companies. Stays 5... this isnt City Markets fault.Maybe if cops stopped picking on Natives, they could make real money ticketing fools.

Associates are always friendly. If there is a problem with a digital coupon they are there to fix your total. There isnt a long wait when checking out.

Do you enjoy being aggressively panhanded at after finishing your hour-long grocery trip before your hour long drive back home? Then this is your place.It is clear the management could care less about the atmosphere that City Market provides. Panhandling itself cannot be outlawed. I really dont think it should be made illegal. However, Im also aware that City Market has the ability to ban people from their premises.For some reason City Market of Cortez, CO feels that begging at the window of my car, pounding on the window of my car, or just flat-out approaching me unannounced From behind while Im loading groceries into my car to ask for whatever is okay. Then I am officially done with what is clearly the worst City Market in the city market Kroger chain.I realize people are hungry, poor and need to eat. I am by no means affluent and struggle like a lot of us do. I have a deep understanding and compassion for my fellow human beings. However, after 4 years I cannot figure out for the life of me what city market of Cortez is condoning/endorsing. Why are Safeway and Walmart able to provide a safe, normal and shopping experience? Is it because they are a much larger and better run corporations? Is it because they take a proactive approach to dealing with nuisances that may bother their customers? Or is it because theyve taken even a minute of their time to look into this matter?I will never spend a dime at your store again.

Starbucks espresso machine was broken and it seems to be in a sketchy area. Couple of guys sitting near the entrance... Not part of the welcome committee made us feel .. not too comfortable.
