If you want delicious burritos and awesome tamales this is the place to go. I can not stop eating the tamales. These are not small tamales either. I got the pork but they also have chicken and I believe green chili tamales. The people are some of the friendliest I have talked to. You get a big smile as you enter and a hearty goodbye when you leave

I’ve never shared a review before, but I just had to for this place. If you’re looking for a place to eat or a place with a great selection of authentic groceries, this is your move. Tacos A1. Chile relleno burrito A1. Chips A1. Would go out of my way to make this place a part of my life. Would move to Cortez to frequent this establishment. Would get married here.

The best place to get all of your Mexican dishes....the tamales are fresh and delightful. The spiciness is on point also great place for delicious snacks. And super friendly service, always good to come in and grab fresh Salsa which come in different varieties. I love all of their dishes which is made in your choice of toppings or how you would like it made.

Good customer service. Some of the food was to die for and some of it was way to spicy. I recommend buying their guacamole and their pork tamales! 😋 Im dying to try their homemade tortillas next.

Had a Carne Asasa burrito. It came with rice and beans, plus their fire salsa. The combination of flavors was really good. I wish they had more meat and maybe some sour cream as well, but not too bad for the price. Will stop by next time they have their Taco Tuesday with freshly made tortillas.

Were visiting from Ohio, and we were lucky to have found Esmereldas!! Love their tamales, flour tortillas, and breakfast burritos! Soooo good.

Dropped in for a visit on our way out of Mesa Verde because I needed to stock up on supplies. I feel like the prices were a little on the high side, $20 for a dozen tamales. However they offer individual Tamales for $2. I purchased 3 chilie and cheese, which were very good and a pound of carnitas. The carnitas were also very good. I would order both again. The homemade tortillas were a nice treat as well. The Salsa was homemade and not hot. Over all this place is very clean inside and worth the trip. If you don’t speak Spanish no worries as the cashier spoke English as well.

It was nice customer service the first time I went it in, to try their burritos. Burritos were great. But the second time I went to get burritos, I told the woman...I would like green sauce with them please ...She stopped, looked at me and gave me a rude glare. And she didnt put any sauce in my burritos, which made them taste bland. Also they forgot my rice.

Excellent homemade everything, has always been a great lunch with a smile. We purchase the tamales by the dozen and make a run for home.

I love this place. Definitely unique for Cortez. Its nice to have a good burrito option in town as well. It is a great Mexican grocery store as well. I happen to really love all of the candies and treats they have.

Best authentic mercadito between New Mexico and Montana. The quesadillas, tamales, burritos, and flan are just like abuela made them...and dare I say better. Outstanding pantry selection for making the best Mexican food at home, too.

Fantabulous! --my 9 year-oldStopped by on our trip to Mesa Verde. It was 6:30, and I hadnt realized they closed at 6. They said they were all closed up, but we could get some tamales. Oh boy! What a godsend these kind folks were...not only did they let us buy a half-dozen tamales after closing, but they were amazing!10/10 will stop here again next time we come to Cortez.
