A great cafe for a breakfast date. Cute outside seating area. I do recommend coming in on a weekday when it’s less crowded. I went in on a Monday and it was so quick to find a place to sit and the food came out quick. Compared to going on a Saturday when it’s harder to find a place to sit. You order and pay at the front and they give you a number and bring you your food. They do have amazing breakfast food and a great selection on hot coffees but as an ice coffee drinker they do not have a wide selection.
I really like this place. Came here for breakfast now, please is really cute and has nice outdoor seating. There’s parking really close. Breakfast menu is really good. Food was delicious, coffee is good, strong and sweet. Eggs poached perfectly. I like the system as well where you order at the register.
Do not bother coming to this place 👎 food was just OK but the wait was unacceptable. They took the order wrong, it took 45 min to get the first part of the food, coffee took more than 1 hour and I never received parts of the order before we decided to leave. I had to go check with the “manager” ( by the way she was super rude ) multiple times. The lady cleaning the tables was extremely nice and she seemed legitimately concerned though. I recommend you go to “Bachour” if you want better food and service.
Cute cafe! The cafe Leo coffee was sooo good!!! Food was very good too (I ordered an omelette) and it was very fresh tasting. There’s street parking available and it’s cool that you order at the cash register whenever you are ready. The building is a bit older but clean and the outdoor patio is very cute too.
30-40 minute wait for take out coffee. Don’t come here unless you have 2 hours to spend for breakfast and that’s Monday- Sunday. Does not matter the day. Otherwise the coffee is delicious
I went here with my fiancé. It honestly was the best breakfast place we have ever been to. The coffee was absolutely delicious and the food was the most delicious food we have had in a long long time. The servers were very very nice also and the ambiance was so cute and romantic. We loved it all
The place looks great, the food is okay and the customer service is bad. My poached eggs were over cooked and rubbery. The coffee tastes great and the presentation was on point. When I was ordering my food the person was consistently getting distracted instead of giving us her attention and providing us with suggestions. The atmosphere is pretty chill and not too noisy. This place is pretty hit or miss and I would rather go to a place that always delivers excellence.
Really great place for brunch or lunch. Small, cozy and. Oat important the price was right for what u got. Many varieties of coffee as well as food. The food had such great flavor also. Not your basic breakfast food. Looooved the potatoes that get served. Would definitely recommend to everyone. Try the French toast sliders, you wont regret it.
Definitely a nice place for breakfast as the area has a nice ambiance! Food is delicious, I had the Belgian waffles with bananas and strawberries. Weekend is always packed so recommend to go during the week. Employees are nice and are attentive especially as the crowd was big and seats were very limited. Only issue was the manager, as being the leader and head of the crew, she should have better customer service. We claimed we had spent almost an hour waiting for the food. She came back and argued I had lied about the time. When the food came, she did not even come back to see how we were doing. Unacceptable behavior for someone that the rest of the employees have to learn from.
I just stopped in for a breakfast sandwich & coffee while my daughter was at a doctor appointment. It was very good.
Nice atmosphere, food looks way better then it is. Tasteless, cold French Toast. Cappuccino, average at best. Waited about 15 minutes for my food, not bad. However they did not serve my drink till I was almost done eating, after asking twice as a reminder.Would not waste my time or $ on this spot when there are plenty more options around. Service is passive and doesn’t seem to concerned that you are there in general.
Everything is so good‼️ the coffee is amazing ☕
Ok. Place. For the reviews I was expecting more. I had the sliders and just was mini buns with burger cut in half.
I just walked in to have breakfast and I was treated so rude I have to leave the place. Just because they close in 30 minutes the girl with the black hair and glasses treat me horrible and she was upset that we went in the restaurant to eat. We are providing business to the place and I was given an attitude is incredible how this business has such a bad service. I would never come back to this place and definitely would not recommend to anybody’s. Besides the rude and disrespectful treatment to customers is beyond unacceptable.
Classy but relaxed spot. Nice artwork and decor. Theyre lattes and capuccionos hit the spot. The only reason I give a 4 instead of 5 is that its food options are okay. Come for the coffee and vibes.
Nice experience. The food was fresh and came out hot. Great croissants. Made in house. M only 2 wishes were that service was faster & more social distancing was available. Dine in or out is a great option as well. The homely feel was also a plus. Ill return my next visit to Miami.
Delicious breakfast and good portions. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and its located in a well preserved old building.
Love, love, love this place. The food is exquisite and the staff is very friendly and professional.
We arrived at the cafe around 2 pm. We ordered two glasses of wine and sat in the courtyard. Everything was great. Then I went to the counter at 2:45 pm to order another round of wine. I was told by the person working the counter that they close at 3 pm. Since the courtyard was full of guests, I figured it would be ok to sit there for a little while and drink our wine. I explained to the counter person that this was our second glass. She said fine but we close the doors at 3. I asked if that meant we had to leave at 3 and she said yes, you must leave at 3 so you’ll need to finish your wine by then. I told her no thanks on the second glass and we promptly left the restaurant that was full of diners. Won’t be back!
So this place seems straight out of a story book. This is the last place we stopped at on our way back home. It was definitely a breath of fresh air from dealing with the crowded SOB restaurants. We ordered the Belgian waffles and the salmon omelette with a strawberry fresa and of course their famous drinks. They were all spectacular. Our waffles came out super late and they were very gracious and gave us 2 free Americano so it was still a great experience!
Delicious cafe, very nice service and beautiful classic place. The place is lovely with wood panels and brass accents. The cafe cortado is served in a small preserved fruit jar, deliciously foamy and a straw allow you to navigate through the layers of your drink. The service is very attentive and make you feel at home.A pleasant place to spend a bit of time off the heat of Miamis sun.
First time there.I ask for a recommendation on coffee, the recommended the Demetrio, and boy they were right!Quiet, classic, cozy atmosphere. I liked it a lot.
Absolutely wonderful coffee and food.I only regret not being able to dine in since the cafe had such a lovely atmosphere.
Super friendly, delicious caramel frappe and pastel de chocolate. 10/10 would recommend. Very quiet and great place to get work done!
Montecristo sandwich from waffles 🧇 was good service not so good its like self service place
I ordered a simple breakfast to go and they had me waiting for over 30 min and when I received it the food was cold. They had left it sitting for 20 plus min. Even after the girl said she had left it sitting she never apologized nor said offered a solution
Coffee and breakfast is great. Only takes a hour to get served on a Saturday 😕
I love this place! And, if you ever get a chance to play chess with Demetrio, bring your A game!!!
Quaint little corner cafe like you see in french movies...
Love this place..Great food with a beautiful presentation...cant wait till my next visit
This is an inviting lovely place for lunch. I had the spinach soup (no cream) was delicious but a bit salty. The half Mexican sandwich with a side of guacamole, pico of tomates and onions and tortilla chips and of course a double espresso con panna in a regular cup (ask them for a regular cupa and not those tiny espresso cups for a double espresso) Everything so yummy. Beautiful old feel classy place. It has a piano, TV above piano and a pretty garden in the back. The women are friendly and super helpful with menu ..and the good looking waiter is very serious.🌻 even the bathroom sink is old world beautiful.
We had breakfast only and the food wasnt bad,but the cofffes were cold and they took 20 min to bring them. The food wasnt ready before one hour either. The service wasnt very nice or friendly.
A wonderful small, homely cafe in Coral Gables that would be right at home in any European city.Café Demetrio has both indoor and outdoor seating, reasonable prices for the Gables, and a friendly bilingual staff that delivers to your table.Perfect for a quick brunch or a long dinner with friends and family.
Great food, great vibes.
Delicious! Great quality coffee, tasty and delicious food, the restaurant is super beautiful, and the service was amazingly fast. Definitely coming back
Extremely inconsistent. I tend to order from among the same group of menu items every time and the experience is all over the place. When it’s good, it’s great!! When it’s bad, it’s really bad. When they are on it’s some of the best sandwiches and coffee in Miami. The real issue I have is that it’s really like a coin flip as to whether you will get the best or worst of Demetrio
Food was great! I went on the weekend and it was packed so I would recommend to go during the weekday. The restaurant’s manager, however, provides terrible customer service
Unbelievably bad, I couldnt finish the Belgium Monte Cristo sandwich.
Nice atmosphere to have a Coffee
Was so good my first time i really love it
We ate a late lunch there a few days ago. We both got gyros, one steak and one chicken. Both were really good. My steak was perfectly cooked and tender. Service was ok, but they were about to close for the day.
Coral Gables iconic bistro! Seems like its always been there. Excellent all around.
This coffee shop might seem hidden, but the architecture of the outside makes it noticeable. The patio has a big tree and twinkle lights that make your whole experience there really quaint, like youre not in Miami anymore. I love sunsets with an afternoon coffee here. It closes early, like at 6 or 7, but its very European in the sense that you can sit there with a coffee and converse for hours.
Coffee was great but food took more than 25 min to arrive and it was definitely nothing to die for. We order a gyro and a breakfast sandwich, which came with literally 3 pieces of house potatoes on the side...
This place was amazing. Great food, great coffee, great atmosphere!
I visited this café, for the first time, about a week ago. I Had a macchiato and a Napoleon, The Napoleon was brought to me rather quickly, it was not fresh, next time I’ll ask if it was made that same day/morning. The macchiato was really good, but it took them about 10 or so minutes to have it out, the place was not packed, it was around 2:30pm in a week day, what makes this place unique is the decoration and that’s basically it really. More attentive servers/baristas are needed, I could hear el chisme all the way in my table.
IT TAKES TOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOONG !!! Come on!!?? How long can it take to prepare food for a 50 persons restaurant at 50% capacity!!??Food is goodCoffee is greatPrices are highService is extremely slow!!
I absolutely Love this Cozy Cafe.!! My first impression as I entered for the first time was that of being transported to this Cafe I had visited many years ago in Europe. The staff greeted us as if we had just been there the day before which caught me a little off guard and thought that they had confused me with another patron. No, it was genuine and seems to be part of the culture and familial Ambiance of their Cafe. The service is A+, the Staff is sweetly courteous and if Demetrio himself happens to be there, he bends over backwards to make you feel like family. I have returned several times and have had their soup and croissant sandwiches which are always delicately delicious! The menu includes light meals as well as more hardy full meals like fish, chicken and pastas. Everything looks deliciously tempting right down to their coffees and deserts. I can never leave without finishing off my meal with their signature Cappuccino served with the loving ambiance that I experience each time I visit!❤
Woke up this morning and called this place asked the man who answered about outside sitting and eggs Benedict he said yes to everything. Drove all the way there to find a very rude and clearly unhappy with her job young lady who told us they didnt have what we wanted and although they had egg Benedict they didnt have hollandaise sauce. Really!!! FYI that is what makes the eggs Benedict!!She never once was apologetic but instead said I never called because she had the phone with her. Please get this girl some customer service training ASAP.
The demetrio cafe is a blast, the pancake and the waffle was delicious too 😋. The 4 stars is only because I think the price is a little bit high
Great place for brunch.
I visited Cafe Demetrio in Coral Gables many years ago. Today (Jan 21, 2017) I had my sights on a Pancake breakfast from Green Gables Cafe across the street from Demetrios. But I failed to observe operating hours and found the place closed.Nevertheless, since I was there already I figured that giving Demetrios another try was the logical alternative. Found and ordered the French Toast in the menu, and although not impressed felt that at least I gave it a shot!Nice Cafe, but not impressed with food or coffee. Maybe for having a talk or a quick meeting is ok.I would visit again, there has to be something worthwhile in Demetrios for a Vegetarian that likes other alternatives like Coconut Milk alternatives etc.
I really don’t know whats going on with this place lately, but the last three times we’ve gone, it has gradually been worse with each experience. I’m sad to say Cafe Demetrio have lost a few customers after today’s encounter.Consistency is key to a successful business and this place keeps striking out. The first two times we visited here were amazing. When I say amazing I mean 10/10. Each time after has been hit or miss and we have kept holding on to receiving the wonderful food and coffee we enjoyed so much, but standards have failed to be met. We really don’t understand why.The customer service is really bad (negligent, even). Every time we order the same coffee, one barista does this, another does that, one forgets this, it tastes ok this time, horrible the next time. Today my caramel and salt was missing on a CARAMEL latte (also not the first time I’ve needed to ask for it, either), and it tasted thrown together. We ordered empanadas and they were awful. Soggy, bland, and the filling tasted like it was leftover. Not only that, we called and ordered ahead because we know the wait time can take awhile. We were told our order would be ready in 10 minutes. 25 minutes later, we get horrible coffee and disgusting food. Two of the empanadas we ordered we were told weren’t available (which should have been discussed before placing our order when we asked which ones were available). These situations have been happening with each visit. All around, today really just sealed the deal with everything with this place. I had the best cup of coffee here and always looked forward to coming here when visiting coral gables. I don’t know if it’s new management or drastic change of staff, but this place is too inconsistent for the prices we are willing to pay anymore when there’s 100s of restaurants and cafes in the area. $35 for two lousy coffees and subpar empanadas.
Nice place. Food was good.
18 years coming to this charming coffee place in the city of Coral Gables . Coffee is exquisite and the terrace with the big tree is a big complement, seat and relax because it feel like you are not in Miami . Good pastries too. If you are in coral gables you must go . Good wifi signal and good servers.
Best place to have breakfast in the neighborhood. Would definitely come back. Which might look like a ordinary cafe (but a cozy one), it sells the coffee for a very good reason and from a very special place - as you might have already read in the other reviews.
Excellent coffee choices, and solid breakfast quality.
Cozy café with a nice outdoor seating area. The #1 and #8 on the breakfast menu were excellent choices, and their signature coffee drink is good too. Nice chill atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the main coral gables strip to enjoy your day
I’m thankful that I found this local gem while working on the area last week. Ordered breakfast and coffee- both were fantastic and I ordered the same thing the next day. Thanks guys!
Really delicious food, small brunch place. May get busy at times but and the wait is a little long, but the food makes it worth the wait. Their coffee is also great. I havent tried anything I dont like, sandwiches, french toast, waffles, you name it, all really well made and big portions. Deffinitely recommend!
Best Cafe around. Period. Have tried a couple in the area, and some are pretty good, but Cafe Demetrio just checks off all the boxes: food, service, ambiance, location, variety... I can go on. But the real kicker is the food tastes like home and love put together. Use your imagination to figure out that flavor, or just stop by which is probably easier.
Eggs benedict were delicious. OJ was freshly squeezed. Food did take a while, like 20 min. If you go, do not be pressed for time... but a very nice place to enjoy good food and have a conversation.
First and only time there, food came in parts. Getting a waiter to bring you water..., cafe latte came when we were almost done with breakfast (I had to remind a waiter). Forgot to bring a pastry and had to request it even though the cashier had asked if we wanted it with the breakfast (also had to remind a waiter). Paid 20% gratuity for such a bad service (unknowingly, you pay in advance). Food quality is average at most (IHOP does better omelets). 7 dollars for a Napoleon pastry that I could not eat more than one bite... Head yourself to Starbucks for good coffee. If you like pastries go to Ricky bakery a few blocks away.
I love this place for almost 2 decades. Always perfect. The garden area is a relaxing sitting under a beautiful tree. Love!
Great place to have breakfast if youre ever in the neighborhood. The long was a little longer than it should be during my visit but overall the experience was pretty good. Will be back again.
One of the very first places I visited when I arrived in coral gables. Definitely a stable in the community, they have good coffee and cakes and such. Friendly staff. Awesome shaded court yard in the back with trees lit up at night. If its not too hot out. Enjoy your treats out back. This will always be nostalgic for me.
