In and out fast check out. Descent selection of work boots. Found what I needed quickly and I was done. This was on a Wednesday and I imagine weekends are busier. Friendly cashier.

Went there with my dad to buy some fishing gear for our first time, completely clueless about what we need, just hungry to learn about a new hobby. We go to the fishing area and the person who helped us, John, started us from the bottom and helped us learn everything we needed know about the sport. His patience and knowledge really let us know that he was passionate and knew a lot about fishing. Will be coming back in case I ever need more fishing supplies.

We went yesterday (Saturday) and there was a long line at the checkout so we went back early this morning. There were people parked in the lot waiting to get in. We just needed fishing license. Very busy place but we got out pretty quickly.

Sad to see Academy moving away from archery. They are selling off the last bits of archery equipment still in stocks and will not replenish it. They have done the same with fly fishing gear and tackle. The ammo selection is extremely limited. The fishing gear is no longer the great selections they used to have and now its just stuff for beginners. If you looking for stuff for the kids, good place to start. If youre interested in the best gear, look for it at a specialty shop.

Employees are helpful and friendly. Shelves well stocked. Evacuated here for Ida. Have shopped here several times while here. Recommended to friends and family. Thank you.

Disappointed in academy these days. Starting to wonder if they are gonna convert to a clothing store because they have more clothing than anything else. I went in August and found 2 kid life jackets same size and make, thats it. August is still boating and swimming season in August. One would assume that a sporting goods store would carry a selection of life jackets year round since people continue to go on boats year round here. I remember 10 years ago when the same store carried life jackets year round and had a section dedicated to the. Smh

Im from California and we dont have sporting good stores like this one. This is a truly awesome store with everything to do with any kind of sport and the prices are great ! Love this store !

They seem to be giving back during the covid 19 times. I usually dislike academy because of the value you get (quality versus cost) but lately their prices seem to be a good bit lower. I bought two pairs of shoes there. Each $50. Thats a pretty good price for mens Asics! I bought my daughter a pair as well. All of the shoes in the pics were around $40-60. Not bad for brand name.

I had the moist brisket, after sampling 3 options. Buffet style lets you customize your meal. Plenty of seating or take it home.

Went in for a collapsible wagon. Website said in-stock. Asked some staff and they told me they didnt have any, but if they did where they would be. Headed to the area. And YES in-stock! Grabbed my wagon and proceeded to checkout. Line was long but moved quickly. Cashier was super friendly.

If you are looking for womens boots this is not the place. Mens boots not much better, however if you are looking for tennis/running shoes, and are willing to pay $$$ you have found your store.

This location in Conroe is not near as organized as the location in the Woodlands. There is always a long slow line at checkout. Will be avoiding the Conroe store due to this. Academy as a whole is great though...just not this location.

I know staffing is challenging now but the 2 employees that I asked to help me today were clueless. At least one of them was nice and tried to help.I came specifically for 2 items (running shoes and a kiddie pool) and left empty handed.This is the same issue I had with getting help a couple of weeks ago as well. If you know exactly what you want/need and where its located, you wont have any issues with this store right now. If not, be prepared for disappointment. Im hoping their previous good customer service reappears soon.

Been to Academy twice lately, the staff is usually helpful but Charles has been so good both times in assisting. He just seemed to be in the right spot and helpful. He is an asset to this store.

Fair prices. I needed some butane for my little camp stove. (Used up what I had during the big Texas freeze of 2021) i arrived at 8:30 and the line was 300 feet long. My first thought was they must be having a sale. I made a little video of the spectacle for my friend because most of the people in line did not have a sporty figure. Loads of camouflage and beer belly action going on. One of my friends said the people were there for ammo. I thought that was insane. By 9:00am the line more than doubled in length. I sat in the car and watched the show. When the doors opened the crowd rushed in and left just as quickly. There was some hand waving and you got a sense of disappointment looking at there faces. In my opinion the show was worth the visit. I did get the butane after the show. Fun place.

Pleasant, welcoming staff. Not all customers were masked, but thats the growing trend, unfortunately. Found a couple of Astros shirts, which is what we were looking for. Would have liked a bit more of a selection, considering it is baseball season. Way too much Texans clothing, considering its May.

Havent actually shopped here but I did place an online order. I went inside to pick up my order and even though they were busy, the lead/manager (not sure) was extremely attentive. She quickly acknowledged us and got our order for us. We went up to the sunglass case after and she paged someone to come because she was working the register also. No one came but she said she would be over in a min to help us as soon as she was done with the customer at the register. I wish I got her name but she had top notch customer service. Will definitely go back if I need something because of her great service.

The store was great and the lady in clothing was so helpful. But the cashier never not once spoke to while taking my money even when I cleared the checkout and had to start over. Im sorry Im old school and believe that the cashier is the face of the business so disappointing in todays way of thinking that they can just stand there and not put any effort to be polite.

Finally found the CO2 cartridges for my bb gun. Also was able to find some ammo a few days ago. Prices on ammo were very reasonable considering the times.

They always have a really helpful staff in finding what we need. Theyre always super nice and friendly as well.

Store was kind of a mess. Didnt have anything we needed. Were told that even though boating is a year around thing here in Texas, especially living this close to Lake Conroe, they dont stock life vests all of the time. We were told its hunting season. Really???

Where I live..it’s hard to find leggings. I really really really needed a pair today and academy usually has what I need. My son also wanted a fishing pole for his birthday today and academy let us down. I can’t believe they’re closed on a Tuesday. Outrageous! I will be writing the ceo a letter letting him know how to conduct business.

Today, New Year’s, we visited our local Academy. There were several camping items which did not have a price shown clearly or at all. Also, we wanted to return the tent our daughter and son in law gave us for Christmas. I admit we did not have the receipt. However, they wanted to give us the lowest sale price in the last 90-days instead of the value of the tent when bought. It makes me appreciate Wal-mart’s return policy.

The ammo isle looks like its still an election year. I guess this is what you get when a bunch of dead people vote democrat

Swimming items are still on the immideate satisfaction list and I wont wait for online delays. Academy is normally where I go because they keep them in store year round. Most other places keep it as a seasonal item. Swimmers live year round, not just in the summer.

This location was awesome before the remodel. Have been pretty disappointed in the service / inventory my last few trips since. No ammo on shelves or fishing tackle. Staff seems very unmotivated to help customers or keep shelves stocked. Your better off supporting a small business and spending your hard earned dollars at a specialty shop for hunting or fishing (where they still manage to keep shelves stocked with Covid-19 going on).

I went in for 9mm ammo and 20 Guagec,Guage,,, ammo and found neither. Their ammo shelves are practically empty. They are practicing safe covid 19 face masks for employees tjough.

Coldest day of the year and I needed propane and fishing tackle. Says they’re open but they ain’t. I’ve made several trips up there to find out, they had power not sure why they didn’t open. I’ll take my business else where and give me money to a business that wants to be open.

I drove 2 1/2 hours thru snow and ice in my 2013 Dodge Ram 4x4 Cummins diesel truck just to find out this establishment is not open. What a shame. I’ll give my buisness to wal mart. Imy wife ran dollar general for years and the community depends on you being open during bad weather. There ain’t an excuse. It’s called academy sports and outdoors not academy sports and indoors.
