This is a really cool spot to stop in and have some great bar food. Burgers were good, and the pizza was shockingly great since I just assumed a simple/fun diner. Happy hour drinks and food had incredible prices. I had a drink, appetizer, and entree all for $13 during happy hour! The patio was a really cool atmosphere and great for people watching. Staff was friendly and helpful. Ill definitely go back.
Michaels Goody Boy Diner had great decor, (what looked like) the original countertop (!!), and fantastic burgers. I ordered an Old-fashioned late in the afternoon and it was delivered unenthusiastically, & without any fruit garnish or I would have given it a 5-star rating.I will say that if youre looking for traditional diner fare to check the menu first, as it is a little fancier than a typical greasy spoon/historic drive-in.
The food is beyond good. Me and my family come here to eat all the time, but never was I once charged for ordering all drums then another order of all flats. After I agreed to it I paid half card half cash, well the waiter decides to ask me to I need my change back. I was already on the phone when she asked me so that didnt make it no better. Sorry bt I will never tip at goody boys again just because she asked before I offered unprofessional.
Fun pl A certain to go to pre game. Cant beat the happy hour prices or 3 dollar shots of Jameson. The service is fast. I mean fast fast. Their employees all look like they have marathon runner legs fast. Prices are on point too. They got great drink options to choose from. Their food is good too. Cool croud, good music, nothing bad I can say about this place at all. It was n awesome experience, would do it again.
Good prices . good food a good place to visit
Went here mid afternoon on a Saturday, its an attractive old fashioned diner thats been redone quite well. But its obviously run by inexperienced college folks, and most likely their dominant business is done during happy hour and is alcohol focused. Dudebro tending the bar was way more interested in chasing skirts than anything else, and the rest of the staff wasnt attentive. We kept our orders simple so nobody would get confused, hard to mess up a salad.
First time here and I love it my son took me for lunch and we say outside it was so good. My son had three goofy Burger, which I tasted and it was delicious. I ordered the Club sandwich, which I love and it was so good that I actually did eat it all. Which I dont usually eat the whole thing. Would definitely recommend. It was an awesome time sitting outside enjoyed lunch and would go again today!
This place wasnt worth the money spent and certainly wasnt worth the time wasted. Our waitress asked what side would you like without informing us that sides were an extra charge, they charged $4 for half a glass of juice, she was leaving the patio to talk to her boyfriend in the street constantly, and I was simply handed a bill with a 25% tip already included and no itemization of what was ordered. Then it was a big deal to actually see my own receipt. This place is a joke.
Loved the vibe, but $13 for a 12oz beer and a shot seems a little sketch.
Goody Boy Diner has a nice patio. The interior design is a 60s/70s retro meets modern aesthetic. The ambiance and service is geared more toward the 21-25 age group. The three bar tenders kept asking if we wanted our check after ordering a drink, after ordering our food, and after we took a bite of food. This gave it more of a college bar feel rather than a restaurant. Their food was overall pretty good. Their grilled cheese is flavorful and is similar to a warmed caprese salad. Their burger was cooked well and the fries were crispy. It was easier to get our check than it was to get ketchup and mustard for the burger.
First time here since the ownership is changed it is not like how it was before its not just a diner it is a restaurant / bar / Club feel. Decent drinks. Decent food. It was karoke night. So it got a bit loud. Too young of a crowd for me, maybe I will try it again another day. Not sure..
🔥food nice drinksAnd Adrian is the Goat🙅🏾♂️✊🏾💪🏾
I love this establishment... will always come here. The food, drinks, service and ambiance is everything to me 💖
Not what expected on the inside but I loved it! It’s almost like a club, with a DJ and everything. The food was greasy and delicious. Went there late on a weeknight and it wasn’t very busy but I can imagine it’s popping on the weekends!
This is one of my favorite places in the Short North. Covid-19 safe, very wheelchair friendly and the staff is attentive and accommodating. The menu is not overwhelming but even a picky eater can find a few treats. We enjoy weekday afternoons. Nights and weekends can get very busy, especially with their spacious patio and some good weather. Parking can be a challenge. Look for the neon near North High & 4th. I hope you enjoy.
Based on what we heard, my family (2 adults and 2 well behaved kids) had been very much looking forward to drinks (for the grownups) and burgers for everyone from this place all day. We incorporated a visit here to our plans for our Columbus long weekend trip, but when we arrived for dinner, we were turned away due to 2 members of our group not being 21 yet. Mind you- this is a diner, not a bar, and there were at least 5 open, unreserved, tables when we walked up. I ran past earlier in the day and saw plenty of families with kids. We checked out the website before coming and saw no reference to this policy. Denying us service just because it was “after 6” was unnecessarily exclusionary.
Amazing staff and delicious food. Thank you for the hospitality
I would have given them a 4 star rating but they were out of some items on the menu.
Love this place..... Always wanted to eat here since I was little. I have been a few times prior to today, but it was my first time with my kids and hubbie. They LOVED IT!!! So much my daughter and hubbies was grovin as they ate. My son said he cant wait til he starts driving because hes going to get him a Juicy Lucy burger EVERYDAY!!! The staff is extremely nice and service is prompt.
Worst “chicken fingers” (they call them jumbo popcorn chicken) I have ever had. Made my ranch taste bad. Budweiser was good though.
Great experience . Good food 🎉Love the restaurant and patio aesthetics 😍David D was so personable and attentive 🥳
Reuben rolls were good! It gets super loud in there though. I couldnt hear the person sitting next to me and had to repeat myself to the waiter a few times since it was so loud and wearing masks. Overall, it was good but I dont feel the need to go back again.
The waffle fry nachos highly recommended
Make sure to check your drinking glasses before taking a sip because there was lipstick on my glass. It wasnt baked on, and I was able to smudge it with my finger.
KYLE WAS THE BEST AND GAVE US THE BEST SHOTS EVER HE CREATED HIMSELF. WE LOVE KYLE AND WE LOVE GOODYBOY!! Give him a raise 😁 mans deserve a liveable wage 😍😍😍
Great service, great happy hour an great food other than the soup they call macaroni and cheese
Fun drinks and good food :)
They have remodeled since my last visit, its definitely more attractive to college kids with the loud music while youre trying to have a meal, its definitely better as a bar than a restaurant
Ok, im going to be strait up with this one. Yes, Goody Boy offers a modest diner and dive experience; one of the only ones in Columbus. But, this classic dive turns into a confusing night club with what felt like a side gig DJ setup on a foldable party table. The food was very basic bar food (which says a lot in CBus because most of the bars here have OUTSTANDING food). Drinks fall under the same disappointing umbrella. I love the idea of bringing back the hangout spot of a good dive bar, but this place needs to find a different way to do it.
Delicious food at great prices with fantastic service AND comfortable seating. Dont miss this place!!
Ive been here a few times while waiting for a show to start at Short North Stage (Garden Theater) across the street. Service is friendly. And I went by today and noticed they are open again and have replaced all the patio furniture, added heat lamps, and TVs.Ill definitely stop in again this Spring and enjoy the weather on the patio.
Typical short north douche bag vibes, food above average
Service, food, and drinks are good.
Enjoyed dinner and beverages with friends on a weeknight. Our server was attentive and friendly, made recommendations from the menu as it was the first visit for some in our group. The food and drinks were very good. The prices were super affordable especially because there was only paid parking in that area. (There was construction at that time so I used parkmobile app.) This is a lively and fun place with deliciously different food and excellent service.
Excellent food and drinks! Great service! Love the atmosphere and decor. Prices are amazing! One of the best dining experiences I have had in Columbus!
This might sound crazy but I’m a country girl and grew up eating bologna so when I saw they had a bologna sandwich on the menu, my friend and I had to try it! This is the best bologna sandwich I’ve ever eaten! My friend and I have fought traffic and parking woes on late Saturday nights in Short North JUST for this sandwich. A side of waffle fries and a beer or delicious mixed beverage is the perfect dinner. Good service at the bar, good music, and fun atmosphere.
I really wanted to rate this higher because we live right behind Goody Boy and we’ve been excited to see it revamped. Had brunch a few weeks ago and the food and service was good. I like that they’ve kept the sign and patio because it’s such an icon for the neighborhood. We decided to head over for brunch on the patio this morning. Music was a little loud for the time of day but considering it had been open for 20 minutes it was filling up. We got a table on the patio and proceeded to wait over 10-15 minutes to not even be acknowledged. Watched two other tables come and sit down, get water and order and still no one bothered to acknowledge us or our completely bare table. Even when food was being delivered to the table RIGHT NEXT TO US....nothing. I was going to go in and ask what was going on but my partner was so irritated by then we just got up and left. I hope it gets better because we’d love to be here regularly.
I got the salmon and it was a bit dry. The green beans as a side were a bit salty but decent. The atmosphere during the summer feels like a restaurant or bar near a beach. I enjoyed my experience overall even though the meal I ordered was underwhelming. My friend got the fish tacos and LOVED them. So it may have just been what I ordered. Service was very prompt and polite.
Great burgers
Hate the new ownership! Youve changed the essence of Michael Goody boys menu an its true taste! Why keep the name...??? Good is expensive and not as good! Its not a Dinner no more! Plus youve changed the Goody boys burger!!!! The new sandwich taste like the dairy queen flaming burger! Please change the name of the place!!😤😤😤🤮
I went there for the first time. Their food is AMAZING... and the cocktails are off the hook. Some talented bartenders in there. Love the atmosphere as well. Its a perfect spring and summer time spot.
The goody boy burger is a goody burger. Very nice staff.
My friend and I stopped in for drinks on a recent Saturday night. Atmosphere was nice. Service was great. Liked the renovated space.
Food and atmosphere were good. Service was excellent. Happy hour prices were amazing. Man, it’s so loud in here.
Love it here. I mean where else can you have a shot with your late night french toast. The patio area is nicely decorated. The waitresses are always super friendly and attentive. The price is very affordable considering the area. The only downside is getting parking.
Sold to a new owner. I love the old vibe. The new vibe is more for the younger crowd. The menu has limited items. The food we ordered was fast and good, but we had our minds set o. A Juicy Lucy burger.Seems to have switched to more of a bar setting vs a family friendly place. Not sure if it was because we went on St Patricks Day!?! Or the addition of a second bar area. Maybe it was a little bit of both. I will go again just to see if it was just because I went on a party holiday...
Great ambiance & decor. Prices were reasonable.
Fantastic food! Oh my gosh sooo good. The mac and cheese bites with tomato basil bisque is to die for. The drinks are well made and decently priced. The assistance from Malik was simply outstanding! Great location, too. On nice days, you can eat here and then wander the Short North and explore. We will definitely be going back Very soon.
Great food! The cleaner they use smells like cat litter however, so it was hard to enjoy ourselves completely. The serve and food were incredible, though.
We stopped in, tired and weary and desperate for food right as they called for last call. The bartender was awesome and fed us anyway. The Kraut Rolls and Baja Tacos were fabulous, especially since they were closing down everything as we came in. They were freshly made, quick and did not skimp on quality. I can only imagine the rest of the menu is just as good. The Staff was very friendly and kind. Well done, Michaels Goody Boy Diner, on service, food and especially your staff, who treated us as if it was the start of their shift, and not the very end during break down. We will be back!
Great time
The food here is great and its a nice patio. The service is horrible. The first time was busy, so we tried again on a Thursday and it was worse with fewer people. The wait staff seems to want to chat up the good looking guest over serving everyone.
It was my 1st visit I enjoyed the food & safety measures
Good food
Crowded and noisy at happy hour when we wanted dinner. Service was ok but there were times when we were forgotten. The ice cream on our excellent apple pie was melted by the time the dessert was delivered to our table.
We were on a tight budget but we got plenty of food and excellent service. Our server, Angela, was super sweet, personable and EXTREMELY patient. I would come back again just to leave her a tip, she was that sweet. I would definitely recommend Michael’s Goody Boy if you’re looking for great food and incredible service.
Lively atmosphere, great food and staff
Very delicious, fresh food. Happy hour is half off menu items excluding entrees. So we were able to eat very delicious food and a very little cost. Would highly recommend the food was delicious.
Great diner with excellent food. The waiter we had was very upbeat and had a great attitude. I devoured the Reuben that I ordered. It was tasty and a good serving size. My girlfriend ordered a grilled cheese but its none like youve ever seen, that is to say its not just a regular run of the mill grilled cheese. I had a bite of it and that was delicious as well. I would recommend this place to my friends.
Great food! Great prices! Great staff! Great drinks! Great location! I highly recommend. Burgers are delicious and I love the patio!
Half price menu during Happy hour. Great value. Good burgers & great wait staff
I remember 18 years ago when this place was just a little diner stuck in time. Now this diner combines the past and the present. Meal prices are fantastic compared to other resturaunts that are in the area too. No pomp and circumstance at this diner. Only down to earth, good people, serving good food at a decent rate.
Im a regular, love the place. The food is awesome. Great service. Drinks. Charming atmosphere. Patio has a real view of the short north action.
Oliver was AMAZING !! FOOD WAS GREAT !!
Stopped in here a while ago for some brunch, the food was good and affordable. Im a big fan of comfort food spots and quite frankly this location really hits the spot after a night out. Its also a pretty unique location in the city because its still so true to its roots.
There was an African American girl who was our sever and she was sooo rude. She brought us water with no cups. I went and got cups from the bartender. We ended up just moving to the bar area for faster service. She still cashed us out but did not give me my change. However to avoid conflict i just had to leave because i was ready to slap some sense into her.
I first came to enjoy Goody Boys back in 2000 long before the update. Back then you could call in your lunch order and they would have it ready and waiting in a white box.I was recently in town on business and thought I would give the ole haunt another visit. I was pleasantly surprised that they had completely remodeled and that the only thing original to the location was the sign out front. What hadnt changed though was the divey quality of the food. The quality of the ingredients has improved as well as the presentation, but it also isnt a $20 burger or a $1 piece of cardboard. The food is still great. The atmosphere is open with several areas including outside for diners to have a bit of privacy or room for a larger crowd. The staff is prompt and friendly, and the food is served quickly. The restaurant, including the bathrooms, is clean and well maintained. The only grievance that I would have is that the music is a bit loud and there is limited parking, however that varies certainly from day to day.If you happen to be in Columbus and looking for something other than a large chain restaurant then you should give this place a try.
Great food, with a fun environment. The service was a little slow as the servers just kept walking past our table. Over all though it was a good restaurant.
Not busy at all when we arrived, took ten minutes to get menus then another 15 to find someone to take our order. Food was amazing, but was offered zero refills. Had to again go search for someone to get our bill. The waitress that had originally taken our order was sitting at the bar having a convo. Will not be back, not like anyone cares. No wonder shes day shift.
Came in and had a great time. Red headed bartender I believe his name was James, great service and was engaged. Whole vibe was 10/10
Pretty goody blue cheese burger.Edit; this restaurant changed hands after the pretty good blue cheese burger comment. They have ok food. Its cleaner and they have a nice patio but the food is not as good as it was. The atmosphere is 4 star but the food is 3 star at best.
Food was delicious and our server was very friendly and attentive.
Has great food
We went on a late Sunday afternoon- not too busy at first, but filled up fast. Server was great, food was good- had the fish tacos with yummy pickled cabbage. Only complaint, it was SO LOUD that not only could I not hear my date talking, I could barely hear MYSELF. Bad acoustics or something? Dunno. But we couldnt wait to get the check. Glad they are doing well though, just be prepared for a Ramones show level of decibels.
Good food, but be careful parking. the so called EMPLOYEE parking has nothing posted about how only employees can park there. So guess what.. my car was towed. So be careful especially if you are African American, chris corso will call the towing company.
Came in for twosday and got great recommendations from this y’all guy, name escapes me but I ended up getting the dry rub wings and cheese fries. Was not disappointed. Def coming back.
Great place to go for happy hour. Fun drinks and great food.
Love the food but dont drive here u will find 0 parking
Had a great experience here! I had the Greek Gyros which were fantastic and huge! Great food that didnt break the bank. Service was fast and courteous and the atmosphere is perfect for casual dinner plans.
Great happy hour specials on food and drinks, nice patio, and nice bathrooms. Its a great place to go when the weather is good.
Nice, clean definitely interested in going back
Good place to eat and take in the game. Meatloaf rocked, drinks were reasonably priced. A bit loud, which was fine for me but something to consider.
Fun place to be. Be careful where you park. Food is very good.
This patio is 🔥 and the service is pretty great. Excited to try the food sometime, and spend plenty of time here this summer. Try their Goody Bags, theyre adult Capri Suns!
The ambiance is good but the food is just so so. My husband ordered their burger and it was chewy in the middle. And the spaghetti is not a good portion
