Excellent place!! sushi was delicious and mac n cheese was also indescribably tasty. our cashier, sophia, was so kind and helped us decide what to get. 10/10 would come again
Wonderful place with delicious food! Had a wonderful cashier, Sophia, who treated us with a smile and made sure our experience was perfect! She also recommended the mac n cheese which we loved!!
So disappointed in Earth Fare! Today I felt that this place tried to scam me. The prices of items on the shelves were much cheaper than the prices they charged at the register. I canceled my order.
My grapefruits were dried out. But overall I love this place. I shop here quite often. Glad they reopened.
Earth Fare needs to work on its customer service. It’s striving to be a high-quality fresh organic grocery store, but the quality of produce is in decline. Recently I purchased 2-3 lbs of organic peaches recently, all of which were mealy. Earth Fare charges a premium for their produce, but when I returned the mealy peaches (~$12), the Asst Manager “T” would not refund the purchase or replace them because I hadn’t saved my receipt. It’s unfortunate that Earth Fare cannot provide the premium customer service (found at other stores like Publix, WF) that you expect with premium prices. I own a small business on Devine St and live in the neighborhood but unfortunately won’t be purchasing produce again from Earth Fare given the cost and risk.
This is the only place in the area to get Homestead Creamery products. Earth Fare carries nearly every variety of milk, and they even have HC lemonade (both kinds!) and Chocolate/Vanilla ice cream. If youve never had their milk before, I highly recommend it, though be mindful of the $2 bottle deposit so you dont have sticker shock. Cowpuccino (coffee milk) is my personal favorite. Everything is well rotated and I am yet to have a bad product from this store. Homestead Creamery is about a half-hour south of Roanoke, VA, and their dairy comes from local A2A2 cows.Ive also noticed this is the only store, probably within a few miles, where I can get frozen clams and octopus. So for very specific things, I like visiting this Earth Fare.
Went in today for the first time since the re-open. I gotta say, I wasnt impressed. They have much less product than before. Everything is spaced out to make it look full, but its so much less. I bought a canned matcha drink, only to find out it expired before the store even reopened. Seems like they didnt sell out of everything when they closed and put stuff away in storage, and then restocked it. But maybe check your dates? Gross.
Some of the freshest, tastiest produce and meat in town. Best baguette in town too. Look for the weekly specials and health/wellness sales.
Friendly staff and fresh deli
We were excited about their reopening, since we live nearby. First, the positive: the fish counter and display looked excellent. On the negative side: everything weve purchased from their deli counter has turned out awful. Weve tried, in the past week: (1) broccoli-cheese quiche, (2) vegan breakfast burrito, (3) turkey wrap, and (4) tuna-cheese wrap. These offerings, by and large, were between mediocre and terrible. The quiche (1) was more cheese than eggs - average. The breakfast burrito (2) was a tortilla stuffed with unseasoned tofu and redskin potatoes (couldnt find any of the sweet potatoes or peppers advertised). It was possibly the blandest fare Ive had in a long time, but at least it was edible. The turkey wrap (3) had very little turkey (1 shaved slice), a slice from a mealy tomato, and a bunch of lettuce that hadnt been properly washed. The tuna-cheese wrap (4) had way more (cheap) grated cheese than tuna, and tasted awful. We threw the wraps in the garbage.I do hope that Earth Fare can improve the quality of what theyre turning out from their deli, quickly, or they may not last long. And that would be a shame.PS - We wound up throwing the quiche in the garbage, too.
Great place to get REAL food and products
I was on a staycation here in Columbia, SC and I shopped at Earthfare quite often because I am vegan and this was the first time I have been back since it open. The feeling is different and the food is not so tasty from the deli. The diversity of the staff is also gone. I hope they will improve on this in the future.
Friendly staff, they make you feel welcome. I love their products. I wish we had one closer to my neighborhood.
We love Earth Fare! Weve recently tried to eat healthier, and Earth Fare has been a great help. They particularly have great sales on meat and produce. There are lots of specialty items here. Hoping they will add more raw options in the future. I have a hard time finding much in the way of dried beans here. Overall, this is a great place to find specialty health foods.
Great produce and nice workers!
Always quality, clean food. They have a food pledge that promises foods free from so many of the unhealthy things Im trying to avoid, like added harmones and artificial sweetners. I can find all the special items Im looking for in one place. The store is clean and bright, and well laid out.
Ive only shopped there a couple of times and it seems great so far. The organic vegetables are pretty great. They also do have a great variety of nuts, milk, ice cream ( i love the green tea mochi). I bought a couple of different flavored coffee creamers and they were pretty good too.
We loved this grocery store. We recommend it to all of our family in Columbus! It was such a great shopping experience!
Quality of food bars are inconsistent. That area needs serious attention. They hire inexperienced cooks and let them practice on customers with no supervision. I have had undercooked meat, hard rice that felt like I’d chewed on a pebble, unlabeled hot bar items, lettuce from the salad bar not torn/cut. Lettuce was so large I could barely fold it in the container. Went to pick up dinner at 5:30 pm and the food looked like it was left over from lunch and other pans were empty. I asked if they were cooking more and was told no.I’ve told the manager that I expect a decent quality of food from an establishment with food bars. Her reply that day was the employee is in training. Does that person understand food safety rules then, cross contamination, washing his hands, checking meat for doneness, etc. since they’re teaching him how to cook? A manager or colleague should work with the person and/or view food before it goes out. She agreed it looked really bad and pulled it. They invested in renovating the Columbia, SC store but not in providing quality training for food prep staff or hiring people that have previously worked with food. (Mrs. Leacock)
Cookies are stale prices high and employees are invisible.
Amazing store with tons of healthy options. I like going here to get my shampoo and conditioner and other all natural hygiene products. They also have a large selection of supplements. Employees are always very nice. Yes, the prices are up there but you do have to pay more for higher quality items.
Best place ever for organic meats, and lots of other organic products. Prices, especially on sale items, are amazingly low compared to other organic marketplaces. Staff is always courteous, available, helpful.
Fantastic all the way around. Every department. Always fresh foods. Great hot bar, bakery options, deli counter, and Cajun crab dip. I always get more than I intended to, and never regret it.
Poor customer service. 10 customers in line to check out on Sunday morning 4/22/18 and only one checkout line open. Finally the manager opened a second line. When I said something about the lack of customer service, she ignored me completely. This store lacks and sense of care for customers. Also in the past year or more the food bar has really boring food choices. 2015-16 I was buying lunch for my company at the Earth Fare food bar daily, everyone loved the food. Now we go other places because the food has gotten so bad. Wonder who they are running this store for? Obviously not the customers! Also several of the employees have confirmed to me these same issues about this store. Management needs to be replaced starting at the top.
I shop here at least once a week - typically for breakfast - and have been pleased with the service. The bakery always makes tasty treats and the cashiers are pleasant. The only thing Im not a fan of is that the coffee consistently has lots of grounds in it.
Really like the store and it has nice hours but if you want anything from the meat area dont go anywhere near the end of the day. They pack up all the meats fairly early.
Lots of local fare and honorable mission statement. Im so glad Earth Fare cares so much about health and wellness or I wouldnt have been able to learn so much!! Always helpful and knowledgable, the staff is eccentric but lovable. Great buffet for lunch!!
The food at the hot bar is good and they have lots of healthy snacks.
Good selection but be very careful about the meat. An employee told me that it was all real free range and gave me the name of the two locations they buy poultry from. Luckily I checked out the site before buying! The birds arent really free ranged- they are cramped into little barns without much room to be chickens. While its your choice, Id rather not spend extra cash on poorly raised poultry when I could give the quality animal at Food Lion.
The people who shop there look like they make their own clothes.
I love this store! They always have the best meat options. Over 75% of the store is organic. Reasonable priced. Will definitely be going back for my meat needs.
I stopped coming here years ago due to poor quality beef tenderloin. Decided to try it again due to a friend saying it got better. My mistake. Tenderloin was full of chewy fat again. since every thing else is overpriced I will not be back.
I shop at Earth Fare on a weekly basis. The employees have always been friendly and very helpful when I need assistance. The produce, meat, and bakery departments have fresh and delicious foods. The hot bar, pizza and sandwich stations are fantastic - so we usually stop for lunch while shopping. Ive never been disappointed when visiting Earth Fare. Its a great place to shop in Columbia.
Fun place to browse. Its a cheaper version of Whole Paycheck. Love the olive bar and deli. We really liked the veggie buffalo chicken chunks.
I love the fresh, healthy salad bar! It always has a wide variety of healthy items and changes somewhat from day to day. Yet the staples are always on it. The hot bar is good too, with great mac and cheese, better than Whole foods down the street. And the price here is less than Whole Foods. The store does have a good selection of healthy items and the prices are reasonable for organic foods. They just need to work on the attitudes of some workers as they should be more friendly, helpful and outgoing, my only complaint.November 27, 2018:Recently I had a bump in with the deli manager. She is downright mean and rude, plus an incompetent manager. Recently the mac and cheese has become blah, often dry with not much cheese. The food bar is not maintained well causing me to constantly having to ask for food and other items to be refreshed and restocked. Cashiers are often not available in the deli or are slow to respond causing customer jams. The eating area often has dead bugs and dirt on the window sills and live flies during warm weather. The trash cans are often left to overflow. The cashiers often are not well trained in deli, needing to call for help. The deli manager needs to address these and other problems or customers like me will always request the problems be corrected which annoys the manager. She also seems to have a bit of prejudice about her as she will not interview all who job apply.
This particular Earthfare seems to be very poorly managed. If I go in for 8 things they seem to be out of at least one of them. The prepared food section is very hit or miss too. I frequently go there for lunch and there is no reasoning to what will be available. Also the hot and salad bar, and prepared foods section is packed up by 7 pm everyday.
Good store, not a great store. Food choices are good, but prices seem high. I mainly go the for lunch. Their buffet and pizza/sandwich shop are very popular, but Ive never had anything that tastes great. (Their coffee is really blah.)
They have some things no other stores carry. They are real high but I have found some things that were much cheaper. They have a helpful staff. I have to go there as they are the only store I have that sells some things so cheap. They do not have it all though. So, I still go to other stores also. I have over spent their in the past as they were too helpful.
Great food selection, but a little cost prohibitive to shop here regularly.
Love this store. Very clean and easy to get around. Everyone is helpful and friendly.
While no longer capitalizing on being a hipster cultural center since the coming of Whole Foods, this is a solid little store that calls back to the grassroots of the Earth Fare brand. To find a truly grassroots store, visit Rosewood Market just a few minutes away.High points include a salad and hot vegan lunch bar, plenty of ready to eat deli and dessert dishes, a capable meat department, lots of dairy products, bulk goods, a selection of local produce, a strong self care department, a decent selection of wines, and a small seating area perfect for a lunch drop in. They carry a robust selection of vegan and Macrobiotic foods and products to meet all your unique dietary and care needs.Dont expect a huge bakery. Also, youll not find the overwhelming selection or negligibly lower prices to be found at a larger store.
Healthy food options. good hot food bar and salad bar. pleasant and helpful staff. open for breakfast at 7 a.m. weekdays. great smoothies also.
The meat is outta this world!! Organic and fresh cut. Veggies are good too
Im really beginning to question the products stocked in this place. Lets be honest. You really can not claim to eat healthy while eating gobs of sugar and carbs. So a grocery that sells products with white sugar and loads of carbs on nearly every isle isnt really a health food store in my book. It would be one thing if I could find healthy cookies, cakes, cereals, breads, or basic snacks with low carbs and stevia or erythritol, but no such luck. These product are sold in other stores so its not a case of looking for something that isnt available. This place does have many healthy items to choose from, after all it is a huge difference from your basic grocery store. Still, I somehow expect a health food store would be geared more toward true health food, and not food that stamps health on its package. On a high note, the grass fed meat selection is fantastic, grass fed butter, heavy cream, and cage free eggs are always available. Organic fruits and veggies are fresh and plentiful. The staff is vibrant and always smiling and cheerful. And my favorite of all... paper bags.
Enjoyed eating from their hot bar and salad bar. Selection is limited at certain times of the day. Friendly staff and lots of choices for organic and non GMO products. Moved away and miss shopping there. Will stop by when I visit Columbia again.
Great selection of high quality vegan food. Especially of commercially made vegan cheeses.
Earth Fare is the best, Its where I go for most of my organic shopping needs. I just love the atmosphere when walking in. Lot of good sale items too.
The meats here are fresh and the sale prices were very good. I guess the sales were for the Fathers Day weekend.
Store is always well stocked and clean. Offer rain checks for sale items out of stock.
Convenient and stocked with lots of local and organic product. Prices can be up there and they run out of simple stuff like chicken regularly.
Prices are pretty high but it’s expected. Staff is friendly.
Travel across town for variety of bulk items and freshness, so Friendly !
Love this place. Helpful people work and shop here.
I am a student at the University of South Carolina and I have shopped at EarthFare a few times now. The selection and layout is very similar to that of a Whole Foods, and I was happy with all of the products available. That being said, the prices are RIDICULOUS. A small bottle of acai juice costs nearly 10 dollars, for example. Though they do offer some products that are not quite this expensive, I was shocked by some of the prices of fruit and nuts. I will go back, but will have to be very careful to watch how much I spend.
Excellent selection and great prices on fresh grass fed, high quality meats
Love this place!! The smoothies are yummy and the food bar is great!
They have a good pizza deal. Best of the Earthfares I have been to.
Clean well stocked store with very helpful staff.
I have always been a fan of Earthfare—the employees are friendly, the variety of products is great, and their produce is the best in town. But tonight I’m finally taking the time to write a review because one Earthfare employee went the extra mile and made my night! Earthfare chicken pot pie is my absolute favorite food, and I stopped by to pick one up tonight. After the grand reopening, I couldn’t find them and asked an employee. He directed me to where they now keep the pot pies, and to my disappointment, they were out. The hot bar/salad bar was closed, and I was perusing other premade foods knowing I was too tired to cook. After several minutes of indecision, the employee/my hero approached with...you guessed it...a chicken pot pie! This is a silly story I know, but I’d had a really long day and my head was killing me, and all I wanted in life was a pot pie. He truly made my day with this act of kindness.
The staff in the hot deli section was rude and not customer oriented. This has happened on three of my recent visits to Earth Fare. Today, I spoke with the manager (Jim) about my concern. He seemed to not care and was not very reassuring to me. I will not go back. Ill continue to shop at Whole Foods instead. I hate to see thar Earth Fare has gone downhill. The store must have a management problem.
Best natural/ organic place to shop....the bird is the word sandwich is out of this world
Good place. Health nut paradise
A great local spot for the Shandon area to grab lunch. Quality food with quality service.
Absolutely love this place. high quality products at a great price
Constantly out of shredded cheese for fondue. The sushi’s good.
There Monday $5 chicken is awesome!
I like this Earthfare, its in a great location and their prices are mostly competitive for high quality items. Braggs and Natures Path are always in stock and are some of my goto items. They also have a new points system that looks to be promising for discounts but we shall see.
Food poisoning poss. E. coli from salad bar and when I went to use the toilet, it wouldnt flush. Ive traveled in many third world countries and encountered both food poisoning and sanitation issues, but Earthfare of Columbia was the first time both happened in the same place. Denique and Barb, store managers, were both rather nasty to me as well when I was working in the cafe - I tried both the county library and Earth fare but both were hostile to me. They deserve to run out of business given Denique and Barbs and other customers discriminatory behavior towards me, thats no way to treat a customer. smh
Slightly underclocked as far as grocery stores go, with a variable amount of good products.
Clean store, delicious healthy food, nice employees, and great environment for shopping or in store dining.
The supermarket is overpriced, in my opinion, but the buffet style hot bar/salad bar is healthy, reasonably priced and good for a quick lunch.
This store is great, and we always find something new to try.
RIP, best grocery in Cola.
The Valentines Surf and Turf special -$5 filet mignon and $5 lobster tails is fabulous!
Staff is often rude, juice bar is often unstaffed and you may have to wait 30mins for a drink.
They give you great deals and have lovely steaks
Great products great staff great advice
Great selection and store is well layed out.
My favorite store. Friendly and small, clean store. Great produce.
The glass bottle milk they sell is the best milk Ive ever had
Great selection of food and wellness items!!
My wife and I like to shop or walk around the store. We switched to a healthier lifestyle and enjoy visiting Earth Fare in different cities.
Love the clean food.
To expensive. I think is a hassle to get in there and park.
Lousy customer service- unorganized- not much variety- store just seems run down and tired
You have got to eat the pizza anytime, but when the girl with the blue hair is making it you really have to get the pizza then.
Better than whole foods
This place is awesome.
Great good food collection, a bit expensive though.
Regional healthy grocery store I can trust. They only carry items that fall under their philosophy of no HFC, no artificial colors, no hormones, etc.
Great products ubuy.me
It was my Fiancees first visit there.. hes hooked now..
The remodel left it not so cozy anymore..
All organics food. But over priced.
Nice but very expensive
Good selections but the pasta bar and bulk nuts are overpriced
Love it here!
I like Earth Fare but it is too expensive for my everyday shopping.
Only go there for Brown Cow yogurt. The staff is rude.
Love the juice bar
