Leo was the Gentleman who assisted me with the purchase of my car. He did what is honestly a rare event these days. He did exactly as he said he would.I submitted an email inquiring about a car for sale. He called me and gave me the price on the car. I was very concerned about being charged for something extra upon my arrival. He said this is the price. It will not change. Upon my arrival he greeted me at the door. We looked the car over. Took it for a text drive and went to Caleb who is in the F&I department. Caleb was a complete professional. He did not pressure nor make me feel uncomfortable during the entire financing processAnd the price did not change. It was such a relief.I would like to thank Leo and Caleb for their professionalism.

Experience was low pressure and straightforward. Went in not even knowing if I wanted a Volkswagen (always been a Mopar guy) and ended up really liking the selection and options available (even in this tight inventory market). Sales and finance teams are Avery easy to work with. Would recommend to anyone in the market.

It was actually a fun experience to work with Barrett.The Finance Manager worked to get me the best rate and was easy to work with. Two thumbs up to Bruce Wayne. We were looking for this car and had worked with several other dealers over the last 4+ months. Needless to say they would over promise and when it got to the GM the deal shut down. With Bruce I referenced where we wanted to be. I asked for a simple you can or cannot and he went to his team and came back with the deal...No haggling or back and forth. Was straight forward when we got to the dealership (no bait and switch).
Awful experience. I was told I needed to replace my radiator core, which would total about $700 with labor included. After getting a second opinion, we found that there was nothing wrong with it. I went through my email and found the “detailed report” that they sent me, and the radiator core was left off completely. In fact, in the inspection it was noted as being perfectly fine. Absolutely ridiculous. Will not be coming here again.
I took my car in for a routine oil change and a bulb replacement. My car has been making a strange noise when the AC is running, so I asked the technicians to check it out. They found a crack in it and said that the whole fan assembly needed to be replaced. When I picked my car up after the maintenance was completed, it drove fine. The next day, it was leaking coolant like crazy (it wasnt leaking anything prior to taking it into the shop). Come to find out, the radiator was scratched at some point (assuming the disassembly of the fan done by the technician was the cause). When I took it into the shop to be looked at again and explained what was happening, my concerns were dismissed and ownership was not taken of the problem that was clearly a result of something that happened while the car was at the shop. I was told that the technician didnt disassemble the assembly fan to diagnose the issue and instead used a flashlight to find the crack causing the sound- yet was still charged me a service fee... I was told that there was nothing they could do for me because for all they knew I could have run over a curb or a rabbit to cause the scratch/leak. I didnt do that and if I did, I would own it. The notion that I am supposed to take the shops word for it when they told me that the technician didnt disassemble anything which could have caused the scratch- yet they wouldnt take my word for it when I told them I didnt run over anything was offensive and outrageous. I understand there is a possibility that it was simply the radiators time to fall apart, but the damage done to it was not as a result of time. I was also told that waiting 5 days after the day of maintenance was a fault of mine- which I will own . But shortly after being told that, it was also said that even if I waited 2 hrs after picking the car up, it would have still been questionable.

We drove over 2 hours in below zero temperatures to here to get the heat fixed in our car. Only to find out they closed and never called us. We received confirmation multiple times, and told them when scheduling that we were going to be traveling over 2 hours to get there. We called them 12+ times and got no answer, and no message indicating they were closed for the day. Messaged a woman on their Facebook page who couldnt tell us if they were open for service or not. Very disappointing. Would leave 0 stars if possible. Waiting on them to make it right.
Took my car in for service and the car was left outside, UNLOCKED, and over $2500 worth of items were stolen out of the car. The dealership was not able to help at first, and I was told there is nothing they can do, because the car should have been locked by the service technicians. Obviously it was not, and by the way the interior looked when I went to pick it up, nobody checked to see if the car was ready to be picked up. The cars are usually washed after having them serviced, and by the looks of it, someone decided to search and remove anything of value, and leave a mess instead of cleaning it. The dealership later informed me that they use another vendor to do the cleaning of the vehicles. The dealership was then able to get the other business to cover the cost of the stolen items, due to their employees not locking the vehicles after cleaning them. A BIG thank you goes out to Stephan Stamos at Joe Machens for turning a horrible event into a good experience, and knowing that Joe Machens will do whatever they can to fix problems that occur for their customers! Thank you!!
Yall had the car I wanted (rare) and were hospitable, respectful, cooperative, flexible. The process went well and were happy with our new(er) car. We wish VW had a hybrid for our other car.

Both the dealer, Rachel, and finance, Anthony, were fantastic to work with and made buying a car as easy and stress free as possible. They were open and knowledgeable about any questions that I had regarding the car and paperwork.
We drove 2 hours out here because of bad experiences with a local vw dealership. It took over 3 hours for just an oil change. The time itself wouldn’t have bothered me if the service department communicated this in the beginning or let us know they were getting backed up. We had plans that were cut on our Saturday because of this- we would have tried to plan better if we knew how long it would have taken- we were told it would take at most an hour and a half when we arrived. We were left waiting for most of the afternoon not knowing why it was taking so long.That said- the people inside were nice and the service was done without issues. I will most likely not make the drive out again for regular routine service.
I bought a 2002 Eurovan from Ohio through eBay and decided to pick it up and drive it back to California about two hours into my trip the oil pressure light started coming on intermittently I had already drove about 600 miles,it was about 6:30 on Saturday eveningdriving along the highway 70 west much to my surprise I spotted a large vw dealership got off the next exit, they were about to close and lock up the place, I quickly told one of the sales person my predicament, he immediately went and got the service technician Drew Pope who was incredibly helpful he had me pull my Eurovan around to the service department where he immediately started working on the van swapping out parts and a dry rotted tire and fixing what ever he could to get me right back on the road and on my way by 8 pm an hour and half later.I was quite shocked by how nice and helpful they wereI highly recommend Joe Machens Volkswagen
Once we get our car back, we will be purposefully going to Stl for future service. We had our car towed in for a dead battery. Earlier this week we were told it would be done on Friday. After not hearing from the dealership on Friday, we attempted to call Saturday morning but were unable to get ahold of anyone. Consequently, we had to drive to the dealership to find out what was going on with our car. Here’s the kicker, when we got to the dealership they couldn’t locate our car and had “nothing on file” for it. I can’t even begin to process the complete lack of professionalism and utter disorganization. After some scurrying around and accusations that perhaps we were at the wrong spot, they finally “located” our car only to tell us we wouldn’t “know anything more” until Monday. This is all over a dead battery mind you. When I called to speak to someone regarding this poor experience they simply transferred me to someone in the office next door who know exactly who I was and offered me a number they admitted would do nothing. So from the lack of communication, lack of professionalism and at this point lack of service one star sums up Joe Machens VW Columbia, MO. We just want our car up and running so we can take it anywhere else.
My sales person, Cody Johnson, has gone above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable with the vehicle I was purchasing, but also with the financing. Hes even called to check in and see if I have any questions about my vehicle, a few days after purchase. This was our second purchase from Joe Machens VW, and will definitely purchase from their dealership again.
Super general ultra supportive very well informed crew. No nonsense. No pressure. Super relaxed. I really like these guys. I wish they would start a dance club in their spot because of those big open windows. but thats not really related to much... I drive a GTI and that thing is incredible. Full stop. The only thing that I think that can really beat the overall performance of this car.. this racing thing... for the money is a Tesla and you can probably buy a Tesla there too. unlimited free hot chocolate coffee and other little tiny snacks. Excellent service department they are very fast very thorough and very good. They care about their customers. If your car needs service they have loaners... Nice loaners.

From the start of the whole process, my salesman Bruce, was wonderful. He was very patient and was very low pressure. Not one second did I feel the pressure that so many other dealerships had given me. The store itself was nice, with a lot of free snacks and drinks. I had some trouble getting financing and I gotta say, these guys did everything in their power to help me drive away in the car I wanted. Even after buying the car, I’ve called Bruce probably 5 times with questions. He always helps with sincerity. I would highly recommended these folks. 🚗 🚙
My key legit broke. I called multiple times for 3 weeks. Constantly being told to peave messages and never being called back. And then when i was finally able to start the car and get it to the dealership and asked for a pair of pliers, since it is the only way the car can be turned off, i was told by the guy thaf he doesnt have any and got mad when I asked if someone else had any in their vehicles. I will never do business with VW again after the key is fixed and i will not be owning another VW again.

We drove all the way from Indianapolis IN, to purchase a car from this dealership. In the beginning we were very pleased with the service, however the vehicle we purchased is a lemon. Once they sell you a car, they do not care about what happens. The A/C unit went out exactly 30 days after we purchased and when we called they said sorry 30 day warranty expired, also you have to bring it in within 30 days, not call/contact them on the 30th day. WE LIVE IN INDIANA! We ended up taking it into a local VW Diesel shop who quoted us $1500 dollars to repair. So not only did we just purchase a car, but we already need to dump $1500 into it. OH BUT WAIT, that isnt all. When we purchased the car they lied to us and told us all the service and maintenance has all been done. We even made sure to ask if the 60k service/tune up had been done and they said YES. We took it into the VW dealership in INDIANA who said it hasnt been done and it will cost another $500. They flat out lied to us, if you purchase a car from them make sure any maintenance is documented.
The service team was the best I’ve ever had despite numerous other car brands and many service shops. They saw some smudge on the tires after the car wash and wouldn’t let me leave before they re-cleaned them. Strongly recommended VW team!

I came in to have my car serviced after a less than disappointing experience with a different dealership and feel blown away with the level of professionalism from the service team here! I didn’t make an appointment but they saw the car immediately and did everything that needed to be done was done correctly. The man who helped me was kind and enthusiastic about helping me! I will definitely be coming back the next time the car needs servicing.

Update on my review. I changed it from 1 to 4 stars because the dealership promptly contacted me directly to address my concerns. To anyone reading this review, be aware that they have gone out of their way to help me figure out was was going on with my car that I had recently purchased. I did not give 5 stars only because the issues could have been avoided if the computer had been reset in the vehicle and repairs/maintenance updated via VW. Having said that, I would recommend this dealership to anyone out there looking to purchase a vehicle.
Good place if you are buying VW or getting your VW serviced. One thing bad is that they need to have more loaner vehicles. My vehicle was there and they need it for couple days to trouble shoot. They did not have any loaner vehicles.

Ive always had issues here. Today, they lost the key to my car for about 10 minutes. They finally found it, but I was late to work because of this. They seem nice enough but if you dont have to go here, I wouldnt.
We were in Colombia on our way to Arkansas. Had a small issue that I wanted to get taken care of. I first talked to Joe in the Service Dept and he told me that he was booked, but to stop back around 2:30 and he would see what he could do. When we stopped back, JC met us and we explained our issue. He was able to take care of it himself and on top of that did not charge us. We live in Minnesota Nice, but I think Missouri matched it today. Thank you very much.
Purchased a vehicle in the last week of July 2020 and financed it from volkswagen credit for a 3 year plan (this is my first vehicle puraches). I was told that I can add the service plan, extra warranty services and gap coverage all at just $50 extra per month and was also told verbally that the number of year financed wont change(it was told to me verbally, first red flag). So obviously, I went ahead and purchased it. After 3 weeks, I recieved a mail with my 1st car payment statement which was over the agreed price by $5000 and the car was now fianaced for 4 years. After contacting the dealership, they told me the extra $5000 is for the purchased warranty, service plan and gap coverage. I was frustrated but just told them to cancel all of it. I come back to dealership after two month because my statement didnt reflect the cancellation, turns out they had never cancelled it. So I made sure that they cancel it then and their and gave me some paperwork proving the cancellation. I was charged cancellation fees and since I had been driving the car for 2 months with these extra services, there were some extra cancellation charges depending on the miles I had driven. I had requested to cancel all the services within 2 weeks of purchasing the vehicle and still got charged for driving the vehicle for 2 months. Out of $5000 extra charged, I was promised to get back 4500. Few month go by and now its December, still the cancellation is not being reflected on account. In the meantime I had been emailing the dealership too about the cancellation to which their response always was that the cancellation was processed.its January now and finally the cancellation is getting relefected on my account but only $3991 was refunded back out of the $4500 promised. Im just tired of dealing with these guys.
If you are interested in a Jetta, work with Jeremy Bealmer! I couldn’t get a deal due to the inequity on my car, but my service was INCREDIBLE. There was not one moment I felt as if I was being pushed into a car for the sale or being deceived. I’ve had this feeling at many dealerships in the past. I am waiting a few more months to pay down my current car and then definitely going back to get a Jetta at the Columbia dealership. True quality service and honesty!

This is hands down the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced; not just at a car dealership, but with regards to any business. On Friday evening, I negotiated a price for a vehicle, and signed a non-binding contract to return with cash in hand within 7 days. The salesman placed a “sold” sign on the car and assured me it would not be shown to any more customers. I returned on Tuesday, just 4 days later and still before our agreed upon deadline, with cash in hand only to find out the car was being sold to someone else on the spot. When I questioned them about the deal we had reached, I was told that the dealership viewed it as unlikely someone would follow through, so they went ahead and sold it, without regard for their first, original customer.Not only did I want this vehicle, I needed it to return to my military base and move my belongings cross country. Needless to say, I now need to find a new vehicle, after already purchasing insurance and everything. I spoke with several salesmen, finance managers and anyone else that would speak to me. Nothing was done.I would recommend strongly to anyone that is in need of a vehicle not to purchase from this dealership, because they have proven that a deal in fact means nothing to them, and they will take whatever money is shown to them first. Please, take your business elsewhere.

I got free oil changes for the first 4 years that I own my vehicle. Ive had it for 3 years and they switched the oil changes, so instead of it being free - you now only get the OIL for free and still pay the labor.Huge disappointment and shady since I have already claimed 2 of my oil changes and had that deal set-up. Will not take my car back ever again and will not be buying any cars from them again.

I have been a VW owner for a long while now and Inhave visited many VW dealerships and by far this one sets itself apart from the rest. Here is why; 1) my VW was having issues with the manifold and since where I was stationed there was no VW dealerships I resorted to use local shops. Well I wasted my money with them and Kyle (service rep) explained to me everything that was wrong with the car. Without requesting one, he offered me a loaner and I gladly said yes since I lived more 80 miles away. 2) I was driving home and and another issue came up. I called Kyle, without hesitation he offered to see the car right away ( on a Saturday!!). He even offered a two truck to bring me back to the dealership if the car completely died. 3) Once I arrived at the dealership, Kyle immediately assessed the vehicle, told me was wrong and brought the vehicle to shop. 4) The waiting area is very very clean and modern, they have healthy snacks (other that fruits), great beverage selections and a great coffee maker machine ( I am an avid coffee drinker). I am live 80 miles out but I will be happily be returning to this dealer for any other VW needs.

Driving most of the country traveling for work through states my cars check engine light came on and it lost power to drive at highway speeds. I searched a close Volkswagen store to my location which was here! I brought my car in for service today and realized that it needed a lot of work done that almost equaled the cost of my car 🚗. I started to look at newer cars at the dealership. After a walk around the parking lot I entered back into the dealership. I noticed the salesman Damarkus Cain as I walked into the building, and decided to work with him. The whole time he was very patient during the whole process! I don’t think he broke a sweat even when my girlfriend choked on her coffee and made a mess all over his work area! Damarkus handled that situation very well and laughed through it, as we did too. He went through reviewing newer model cars with me to make sure he could find the right car for me in all aspects. After some time Damarkus found a car that could fit my lifestyle. We went on a test drive and I agreed that the car could fit my lifestyle. After some more talking I decided on that car. A 2017 Golf Alltrack. Full of fuel! Damarkus got the vehicle prepped for me making sure it was clean. During that time Damarkus and other very friendly staff put something next to the car unexpected. When I was taken to my new car and my old car so I can swap my belongings, Damarkus began to show me what was beside the new car. They included a roof rack and cargo box with the vehicle because they heard about my lifestyle! Such a humbling experience always to receive something more unexpectedly. Called Machens VW service department 3 times trying to get a price on a new carrier bearing, I had bought the car from machens and had it worked on at Machens VW. But for some reason a new service righter kept saying he was working on it, did not call back after me and my wife had both called several times, they had replaced this part before, no more will I get my car or truck worked on at machens. Best experience at a dealership by far! I got into a car accident in Columbia on my way from NC to CO. I ended up staying the night and thought the car was drivable, but the next morning discovered that it clearly wasn’t (specifically the tires). They took me in as a walk up and were amazing. Some of the kindest workers and they really did their best to make sure I understood every detail. They took really great care of my car and I could feel it in the drive. They also take really good care of the customers, even the out-of-towners who end up spending all day there.

My son took my VW Beetle in for a recall repair. He also had you change my oil. Your guys noticed my tires needing a rotation so my son agreed to pay for that service. What surprised me was, since I bought this car my driver door made a loud crack sound when I opened it. Your guys fixed it and it was the first thing I noticed. How exciting that was. Also, I loved the car wash as well. Great service!!
JC did an excellent job keeping me apprised of the status of my repair. He also took accountability for a delayed part and made sure to make the situation right by me. The turnaround was quick, and the dealership offers a convenient lobby with workspace to utilize while I waited for my repair.

They sold me a 2004 truck for 11,000 dollars when they new it was only worth 3,000 then they tricked me into buying gap insurance when I told them I had gap insurance through my insurance companyif you choose to buy a car from them grab the contract out of there hands and look it over because they dont want you to see the contract until you have signed all of the paperwork. They tuck it in to a nice little envelope so you wont look at it. Buyer beware

Machens VW has always given me the best service for my 2013 TDI VW. The staff has been courteous and if the car was not ready when stated, I was given a timely call. I have no complaints, so far.
