There are a lot of negative reviews on Bruening Glass, but my experience was 100% positive. I did not do my homework before sending my 160+ year old cliche paperweight to Mark to remove scratches. After sending the weight, I saw the reviews an was very concerned that the family heirloom was gone for ever. Just the opposite. Mark received the weight on Sept 30, and I had is back by Oct 14. I looks amazing! He was not cheap ($240 to polish/remove scratches), but well worth it. He is a craftsman in glass. My only advice would be to keep in frequent contact with him so that your item does not get set aside.

I am glad that I did not see these reviews before working with Marc. Our 20 year old glass sconce was knocked off the wall and the corner was shattered. This is an unusual shape for a sconce and I was not able to find a replacement like it or one that would work for the tight space we have. We have 3 of them, so I shipped one of the good ones to Marc. He made a replacement and we cant tell which is the new one and which is the old one. Very happy with our experience.

I sent my sentimental Waterford glasses to Marc for repair in October of 2020. I’ve managed to reach him on the phone a few months ago. He apologized and promised me that they would be going out the following week. I’m fairly certain he screens the calls and refuses to answer customers he’s already identified. I’m working through my options now to find out what recourse I have. I wish I had read the reviews before I sent my glassware to him.

Working with Marc was wonderful and frustrating. The frustrating part was that it took 8 months to get my piece repaired, and from about month 4 to month 8 I was not able to get in touch with Marc. I literally wondered if he had died! The wonderful part was talking with him before month 4 and after the piece arrived. He is a great guy. The best part was the work he did. I really expected him to just professionally glue my piece back together. He tried that, but he didnt think it looked good, so he just made a new part that looked exactly like the broken part. Unbelievable! Now my Waterford chandelier doesnt look expertly repaired, it looks new. Only Marc could have done that. Im grateful.

I have read some of the negative reviews about this company and want to make sure that I add a very POSITIVE review. I broke an arm to an antique Waterford crystal wall sconce and searched high and low for a replacement. I couldnt find one but did find Bruening Glass Works. I sent them the broken piece and was called by the owner within a day of delivery. He and I had a very nice talk and he told me that he could repair it but also had a brand new replacement (which cost more). I chose the replacement, paid him via credit card, and was told it would ship on Tuesday or Wednesday of the next week. I just got it on Friday and it is PERFECT. This guy did everything he said he would, was nice about it, and deserves all the good reviews he can get. If I ever need glass help again, I will not hesitate to use Bruening!

VERY SATISFIED. I found Bruening Glass Works through an internet search and the results were fantastic! First, Marc reviewed the pictures I sent, gave me an estimate and I agreed. Marc was able to repair two pieces that had been on a shelf for many years because I could not find anyone I trusted. The work took longer than expected (the coronavirus was probably a factor). Overall, if you have an heirloom or a prized possession that needs to be fixed, contact Bruening Glass Works. If they say they can fix it, THEY WILL DO A BEAUTIFUL JOB.

You have to give Marc Konys one star just to be able to post your review and that is the only reason I am giving him one star. Well I will join the ranks here of those that wished they had checked Google Reviews and the Better Business Bureau first. Marc sounds real chummy on the phone, but four months later I still do not have my piece of antique glass that he told me he would have ready by the end of 2020. I am currently adding warnings to the Rocky River Police Dept. Facebook page as well as Town of Rocky River and their Chamber of Commerce. Our project involved the restoration of a nearly 100 year old ceiling light. The light had a very unusual slip shade that was broken, three rings of damaged prisms and a finial. I found Bruening Glass Works on line and was extremely concerned after reading the reviews. I live within 2 1/2 hrs drive of their shop so I went there to talk with them. This project belongs to a friend and it is a family heirloom that was damaged while in storage.I met with shop owner, Marc Konys and we agreed on the scope of the project. Also, I toured his shop and discussed the many complex projects they were working on and the skill level of himself and his technicians.I made at least three visits to their shop and many phone calls to get the current status of our project. I had similar frustrations that have been expressed by many of the reviewers and I realize my proximity to their shop makes my situation different. Our project had a very good ending! Yes, it took longer than expected! Yes, there were numerous frustrations! The price never increased and the quality was impeccable! There are several lessons learned from this experience:The work performed by Bruening Glass Works is of “world class” quality.Marc Konys is a master craftsman.Their shop is full of broken treasures and precious heirlooms.I do not know of another shop capable of performing comparable repairs.Personally, I trust Bruening Glass Works and will not hesitate to use them in the future!

I spoke with Marc at Bruening Glass Works a couple of days ago, and he advised that the Daum Vase repair work was complete, and he would be sending the vase. The conversation was very cordial, and I related to him that I believed there was a great deal more time and effort required than he may have expected. I offered additional remuneration, which he refused. The vase arrived today, and it is amazing. I searched the entire country to find someone who could repair it, and the only person I found willing to attempt the extensive repair work was Marc Konys at Bruening Glass Works. Zero stars. I contacted Marc Konys in January 2020 about repairs to a couple of pieces of my Grandmothers crystal. His web site made it look like he was quite an expert as did a conversation with him once I shipped my pieces to him. He insisted that I pay in advance, which I did. He said he would complete the work in 90 days. After 90 days I was unable to reach him via phone or email so I contacted the BBB. Then he called and said he would ship the pieces back right away. Another month has gone by and he will not respond or ship my items. He blamed the virus for delays, but his web site said he was open all the time. So, I think that is not the case. Bottom line - if you care about your glass do not do business with this firm. I am heartbroken and angry. If I ever get the things back I will update this post,

I struggled to give this place 3 stars but its only because I did eventually get my piece back, price was fair and girlfriend was very impressed since it was her pierce that I broke.Sent Mark the broken item in middle of October 2015. It was a small rabbit figurine and one of the ears broke off. I was quoted 12 weeks so right around Christmas I was expecting a package. I started calling in January and called on average once every other week, each time I was told by Brian his asst. it was just being finished and should be out for shipment end of the week or beginning of the following week. Fast forward to middle of June, actually spoke with Mark and he again reassured me it would be out that Thursday. Low and behold Friday I got a tracking # and it arrived the following Wednesday. He does great work, cant even tell the ear broke off. But no consumer should have to call multiple times, Ive never experienced such a poor lack of communication. Mostly I left messages for Mark, but I did talk to his assistant 3 times who stated Mark was working on it and he was unavailable. It did take about 10 months, and about a dozen phone calls to their answering machine with the last two calls saying just return the piece. A day after my last call I received an email stating it was repaired, and being shipped to me. It arrived, well packed, and again the repair was great. Im writing this so that those who have sent pieces that are dear to them may find a way to retrieve them. Everyone that I talked to at Bruening was very nice but in the year that they had my dish no work was done on it. Marc did a beautiful job re-creating/re-molding the bobechette from my grandmothers table lamp. After my husband accidentally broke it, I went all over the internet and Phoenix looking for a replacement, but nothing was out there. Marc is an artist that takes a bit of time (5-6 mos), but in the end the product was something irreplaceable. I took the time to call and get to know what he was doing along the way and now my beautiful crystal table lamp is restored.

My Husband sent a piece to have it repaired. He was quoted an outrageous price. He told them he would not have it repaired paid $35 to have it returned and still have yet to receive the item back... Please do not send your item to this place unless you do not want it back... My husband wished he would have seen the reviews for this place before he sent his item.

I sent Marc 4 lead crystal champagne goblets in Feb. 2013, thats right, 2013. Three needed stem repair and he asked me to send the unbroken, 4th goblet so he could match it. He said he would fix them. In Oct 2013, I asked him if there was any chance we would have them back by Nov 23, 2013, as my daughter was getting married and we wanted to use the goblets. He replied that he would have a shipping date for me tomorrow. That was the last I heard from Marc. He will not respond to my email. He has not repaired the goblets, nor has he returned them to me unrepaired, as I asked him to do if he was not going to repair them. Do NOT send anything to this man if you ever want to see it again. He cannot be relied on to carry out the work he has committed to. For all I know, he cannibalized my goblets to repair others. The facts are, he promised to fix my goblets, he did not fix my goblets, he will not acknowledge or respond to my inquiries, and he will not send the goblets back.

I spoke to the company over the phone after checking out their info on line. The man I spoke with gave me the impression that I was dealing with a very professional business.I shipped my Great-Grandmothers 100+ year old cruet set to him. He had the set for over a year and when I got it back the glass was not polished to a new state. It looked like some work had been done but no where near enough to be satisfactory. One of the pieces still has black spots on it that I expected to have been removed. A bad chip on the lip of one piece was very nicely repaired. He had found new toppers for the salt and peper shakers. They are old, corroded, and the inside of the toppers is dreadful. I cant change them or polish them better because they have been permanently affixed to the glass. One of the toppers actually was returned with polish in little ridges.I received the pieces in a package that was very well-wrapped and in very good condition. Nothing was damaged in shipment.I called NUMEROUS times asking about the work and when I could expect it to be returned. Calls were not returned or I was given a timeframe that NEVER materialized. This went on for months until I threatened to contact the local DA about improper business practices.I have never written a review like this but I am so disgusted with what I got for $320.00 that I had to warn others to not rely on this company.

There is a very talented gift that rest in the hands of Marc Konys at Bruening glassworks. I call it the gift of restoration. Marc did an outstanding job on a 1959 Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta vase. The vase had some serious sick glass where the previous owner used some type of abrasive chemical in an attempt to get rid of water damage. The previous owner only made matters worse. Marc restored the vase to mint condition. Bruening glassworks provides exceptional restoration work. All you need is a little patience with Marc. I can guarantee he will get it right and you will be 100% satisfied with the results.

It took me six months to get a champagne flute back. I had to call them almost every day to see what was going on. They kept giving me the run around. I would NOT send your stuff there. Terrible business.

Do not go with them. I think they are stealing costumers items. I am going to report them to BB and the police. I report them and got my crystal back.

Totally agree with Virginia Harris.I sent my piece to be repaired in January 2013. They told me it would be 13 weeks, well now its been more like 26 weeks and I have not received my crystal bowl. Do not send them anything--go elsewhere. This is a SCAM!
