I visited last week for the 1st time as I was visiting family in Chico. Loved the food very yummy, portions are good and not huge which I appreciate it. Lavender latte was a hit.
Good coffee. Good breakfast. BUT, waiting 45 minutes out front of the restaurant in 100+ degree weather for a table because the back patio was closed due to staffing issues. Why not let me wait in the shade in the closed back patio until you can seat us? Wasnt happy.
Great place to grab breakfast. Little kids loved it here. There is an outside area for them to play while they waited for the food. Definitely recommend.
The vegan nachos are a must try here. The staff was extremely kind and the food was amazing. There is inside and outside seating. Definitely a great place to experience and one I cant wait to explore again. By the way there are several vegan options to delight everyone.
Server seemed a bit young and inexperienced but everything comes with time. He will gain confidence the longer he works. Luckily it was a weekday and slow.

Great food and good service. This isnt a fancy place and I dont like waiting to get a table but we did here for about 25 minutes and it was worth the wait. The menu is limited but every item Ive tried has been delicious. I was a little disappointed that they used very cheap paper napkins, they seemed a bit out of place. Get nicer paper napkins if youre going to charge $13 for pancakes. :) But the food is wonderful, well be back to try more!!

After seeing posts about them reopening and their vegan offerings, I had to try their vegan breakfast burrito. AND BOY AM I GLAD I DID. It was so good, I literally started doing a little happy dance. So tasty and hearty - I was full for hours. I get the hype, and its well deserved. Cant wait to try their other vegan dishes!
This place has a beautiful outdoor dining area. I had the brown sugar latte with oat milk. I also had the vegan burrito. It was all very delicious. Will come here again!

Honestly... I really do like this place. I enjoy the food, the coffee, the ambiance, I even like the tucked-away downtown location. Heck, coming here on a rainy day makes me love living in Chico even more.My complaint is this:The staff.Consistently and without fail, they are just plain cold and rude. Not a warm or courteous bone in their body it seems. Not even a smile.If its not a blank and emotionless stare into your face, its an annoyed tone and one word answers. Ive consistently felt as though I were just in the way and that it would be much better for them if I just left. I wanted to believe that it was maybe this terse, all-business, hipster style that they had going, but Ive been to places like that. They may act all business and cool, but dont act like jerks and treat you like youre an inconvenience. I wanted to love this place, but I dont love businesses that do not make you feel welcome and just look at you like youre an idiot. I can go to Dennys, pay half of the cost for worse food, and get treated way better.Its time to step up your game, Cafe Coda.

One of my favorite restaurants. Their menu is unique and fun. They have delicious and interesting food. They make their own bread and it is yummy. My son and I would go to Cafe Coda every Saturday before we went to the Saturday Market. This was prefire. Our special place to go. For my birthday he took me there for brunch. We had one of their Eggs Benedict and champagne...GREAT BIRTHDAY! Try it...youll like it!
Now this place is a very nice change in food, its not just your Original bacon and eggs that Im tired of eating. Lol but its really delicious with lots of flavors pretty good service maybe they could just pay a little more attention to a few little things like topping of drinks and not allowing people to smoke in front of the Establishment because every time the door would open a Gust of wind would bring in the smoke. Dont know about you but I think Cigarets can Ruin any good experience. And now this was only my first time going here so maybe next time it will be a full five stars.but I would definitely recommend trying out. Oh and if you dont see any parking in front you can drive in between the buildings and park in the back, theres even a side door you can use as well. The picture is Chilaquiles bomb

Cafe Coda is a fun environment and the food is excellent. The service is great and the servers are polite and prompt. Because of this, theres usually a wait. However, the food is definitely worth waiting for. Dont expect to get seated right away though. If youre in a hurry, you might want to go somewhere else. If you want fresh delicious food give Cafe Coda a try, you wont be disappointed.
We were told 10 to 15 minute wait. We waited 45 minutes. However the breakfast burrito and coffee was great. The waitress was excellent. You need to go there but expect to wait longer than they say.🙂
The food is sooo good!
Its one of the few places that my wife and I can eat together. I always have a hard time finding something on the menu, and most times they get my order wrong. Last time we were there, a waitress in a blue shirt stood at the table next to ours for about 20 minutes while she shared her life story with the customers seated there. Even after a different server ran their food to them, the server kept gobbing on about the Camp Fire, how everyone passes by their house all the time, and how much they miss home. I get that we all went through something traumatizing, but venting at a table during breakfast while working is super inappropriate.
The food is great. The speciality coffees are out of this world! The atmosphere is a perfect way to ease into your day! I love this place.

Loved this place! The grilled cheese sandwich was surprisingly delicious with grilled cheese inside of the sandwich (pleasant crunch). The potato hash was also delightful. Lastly the lemon poppy pancake was tasty yet not overly sweet. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return!

Cafe Coda is so trendy and hipster. Great coffee, great service. Their flavor profiles are phemominal and they offer healthy, real food, even vegan options! My only less positive comment would be that sometimes the food is not piping hot. But they will happily fix that for you.
Great Breakfast menu, Top 2 in town. Lunch is really good. I just prefer the breakfast. Have eaten here hundreds of times never had a bad experience. The line can be a bit long on a weekend
Good was great. Atmosphere was really nice but the service was slow... Its a small place, so I expect the food to be a little show in coming out but I had to ask for water twice, the waitress checked on us once and we had to go up and ask for our check. Sad that I couldnt give this lovely place more stars!

Very reliable and trendy Place. Well loved by Chicoans. I moved here about 5 years ago and have been going regularly here for about 3 years now. The food is both delicious and decent priced and fairly Gourmet. It is great for singles, couples and families. I think the environment is perfect. Its really family-friendly though for me personally. They have a great kids menu.
Pretty good eggs benny, coffee was not too bad. Ordered off menu so I cant complain. Overall a great atmosphere and a great breakfast joint.
Dude. No better place to get Eggs Benedict after noon. Or at all, for that matter. I cant say how well this place hit the spot. The price is a little up there, but as soon as my coffee was brought to me in a French Press, I totally forgot about that. If youre looking for good Chico eats, this is a definite must-hit spot.
I would give this place 4 stars but the table where they sat us kept moving. It was unbalanced. Other than that the food was good the service was average.
A lot of people love this place. It’s just ok to me. I think the menu could be updated, it’s a small place hard to find seating sometimes and also hard to find parking sometimes. Just not worth the wait for me. Probably best to try it on weekday first so you can find a seat.

The food was great! But, Tatiana truly seemed like she has the worst job in the world by the way she approached us. Seriously though, a greeting wouldve been nice... etc. Everything that a normal server (or human being for that matter) would do, she did the opposite of. Thanks for starting our day off terribly Tatiana! Merry Christmas!

I come to Coda pretty frequently, and the food is always great. I recently visited on a busy Saturday and our waiter was very attentive and quick. They also have great options for Vegetarians/Vegans, if youre so inclined!

Honestly, the food is great. But, 3 of us had an empty water glass our whole meal. And no one checked on us the entire time we were there. I would have had to get up and walk all the way across the restaurant to ask them for a refill.
Food is fresh and original. High quality everything! Vegan and vegetarian options which make me happy, and love the French press coffee. Service is excellent and staff friendly.

Really great food. Id give five stars but I ordered a black tea and they burned it pretty bad, and black tea is the hardest to burn. Probably due to them serving the pot with leaves continually steeping, so Im assuming they just dont actually know how. Otherwise it was great
Used to love going to this place years ago. Their food and drinks are all fantastic. Never have had an issue with what their cooks and baristas put out.3 stars is due to their slow service and sometimes rude staff. Though there used to be ways to get around that, not so much any more.I found that the best way to enjoy them was making to go orders, as the wait times are long to get seated, there is no adequate waiting area (you have to wait outside, so either in the cold mornings or sometimes extremely hot afternoons of chico weather) and the environment is extremely loud and over stimulating for some.I still recommend this place, slowly but surely due to their inability to adapt to demand its becoming less of a staple for me to recommend.For a place that is so successful and in high demand it surprises me they havent expanded, gotten better staffed, or looked for a better venue.

The best food and I cant get enough of the chai tea. 20 to 30 minute wait on the weekend but well worth it. Staff is great.
Good food, upscale. Healthier take on traditional breakfast foods, but not so far away from the source to be unfamiliar. The Lemon Poppyseed pancakes are a must try. Very busy on the weekends after 9a. Expect a 45+ min wait, no room to wait inside so youll be outside waiting with the weather.

Hands down, best breakfast place in town! Ive been to Moms, Nashs, just about everywhere, and this place blows them all out of the water! Try the Athens or the Fat Boy for an amazingly delicious breakfast or brunch! There coffee is amazing too!
Nice environment, very small, but comfy. Nice art, considered buying a piece. Food is ok, on the bland side, and not worth the 50bucks we paid for breakfast for 2 (tip included). People were nice, I would go back for the live music and happy hour, if they have a happy hour.

Ive been to Cafe Coda many, many times. Im addicted to their Chilequiles. I order it every single time. The service has always been great. Its a wonderful place to meet friends for brunch or cozy up with my hubby for a breakfast date. On Saturdays and Sundays there is often a long wait, but this should tell you that its worth it! Come early and it shouldnt be a problem.

Seems pretty great, too loud for just trying to go eat with a friend and could barely hear eachother due to the live band in the other room. Food seemed great until I got to the hair in my salad! I would consider going back if it werent so loud and minus the hair in the food issues!!
I must be in California because this restaurant offers vegan menus, almond milk in your lattes, and great soy chorizo. Good, fresh breakfast food.
Food was excellent, this review would be 5 stars if rating just the food alone. Coffee was also excellent(beware if you are a couple big coffee drinker you have to purchase by the carafe, it is not bottomless). The reason only 3 stars overall? The service was mediocre at best. Ranged from passive aggressive/rude(how dare you ask for cream for your coffee!) to just a forced smile and nothing else. Maybe it was an off day or a rough morning.
