First time visitor of this establishment. It was very busy and an employee by the name of Taylor did an amazing job handling it all by herself. She was patient and a positive attitude with my many questions. To top it all off the is amazing would recommend for sure. Taylor you deserve a raise girl.
Stop by for some yummy treats in West Loop. They have nice flavors and for those who cant choose theres an option of 4 mini scoops. Interiors have a soothing retro vibe and they also have an outdoor patio. Parking isnt available for visitors in the lot behind the building so youd have to rely on street parking. They also provide pick-up and delivery services.
The ice cream they gave made the ice cream cone from McDonalds look amazing. I just asked for a chocolate ice cream cone and it was melted. It was in another freezer it wasnt in the freezer where all the other flavors where in. I understand they were busy but have a better attitude, especially the girl with glasses.
Great ice cream and unique flavors! The cookies for my cookie sandwich were on the thick/dry side so most of my ice cream squished out when I tied to eat it. They are just doing the walk up window for now - so be ready to eat outside.
I discovered this spot during COVID while taking the dog on many walks in the neighborhood. They have a little window next to their cute patio where you can order a coke, cup, pint, whatever youre in the mood for. Now, Ill be honest, Ive basically only ordered one thing every time Ive gone, but thats because I think its one of the single greatest ice cream cones Ive ever eaten! The cookie monster on waffle cone. Itll stain your lips blue, but its SO GOOD. Enjoy a scoop of Cookie Monster in a waffle cone on their patio under the shade of their big tree and youll know true happiness.
The best ice cream I have ever had. I went here after I had a day out with my friends. I got the It’s Yo Birthday and it was amazing.
Very nice counter person. Very good ice cream.
If I could eat the Oktoberfest ice cream everyday without becoming diabetic and broke, I would. Also true Irishmen work here. Love this place
Recommend the flight. We tried pebblicious, cookie monster, peach/mango sorbet, and popcorn ball and I liked them most to least in that order. Looking forward to trying more flavors next time!
Before going to work, I would enjoy a sip of their greatest ice cream in town. Ive been a regular and devoted customer of this shop.
Such a cute spot especially in the summer with a walk up window and outdoor patio. I got the wildberry sorbet which is so fresh with actual berries and the passion fruit. Love this place! (I would eat this sorbet combo every day for the rest of my life if I wouldn’t gain a pound and not get diabetes)😃.
We had a $15 worth of 3 scoops sorbet . Contrary to the impression created by the advertisement, the fried dough ice cream sandwich was not made from scratch but is rather a sliced donut warmed up in microwave oven. There are some wild flavors of sorbet and ice cream available but what we got was just ok and not cold enough. We loved the adjacent terass .
Ice cream is good, the red velvet soft serve is a real treat during these hot summer nights
The pomegranate sorbet was absolutely delish and the girl who recommended it to me was so nice. 10/10 would come again for the lovely atmosphere and service.
I would’ve given 5 stars if the guy working there wasn’t so damn unfriendly! You guys have great ice cream, as always, but whoever you hired to scoop the ice cream needs to at least respond when someone says “hello,” or at least speak at some point? It was a weird vibe, and I could tell he really dislikes his job. :(
Had the Cookie Monster. So good! Cute patio area to sit outside too.
Crazy combinations, mouth watering ice cream, super thick shakes that are carefully made and at a reasonable priced for a handspun shake. My wife loved the sundae she mixed up!
We ordered a turtle shake and a scoop of push it real good. Not only was everything super stingy portions, but (without description) we took a bite of the push it real good and immediately spit it out. What a terrible flavor combo of salt and pepper! 🙄 We literally have never had to spit out food like that. While clever, there needs to be a description or disclaimer or something to let customers know what they are getting into because it was totally inedible, at most desirable to a very niche customer.
Honestly the price is a robbery, I love ice cream but this just tastes like basic cheap ice cream from the grocery store. Their most popular flavor, the Cookie Monster, was unavailable, so I can’t comment on that, but the two we tried were super basic and disappointing/mediocre. Plus they got my topping wrong, I only asked for chocolate sprinkles, not super complicated. Plus both of our ice cream were handed to us superrrrr melted. Not sure if they had a freezer issue or what. If you’re looking for gourmet ice cream stick to jenis. Their courtyard is cute though so extra star for that.
Girl working June 19th at 5:45pm has an attitude problem. She wasn’t even rude to me. She was rude to everyone. The guy working with her was nice. Give that dude a raise. Ice cream is ok. Overpriced, but all Ice cream in downtown is. Ok texture, but too airy and so it melts fast unlike more dense ice creams. Also, everything is just predominantly sweet. The passion fruit sorbet has no sourness at all. Just tastes like mango. Guinness has no bitterness which you would expect from a beer flavored ice cream. I think most people will probably like the ice cream here, but if you prefer less sweet, more complex flavors, this ain’t the spot. The names of the flavors sound like adult flavors, but from what my wife and I tasted, these are all just kiddie flavors.
My first time there, the flavors were nice & refreshing.. -CTB
Could tasting, flavorful and well made ice cream and gelatos. A bit on the pricey side but its good for a once in awhile treat.
Excellent ice cream after a long, sweaty day. Would go again.
I have been to Cone Gourmet Ice Cream many times before covid. My friends love it and there are vegan options for me! In the times that I have gone, they have had 4 vegan flavors. Texas sheet cake, cold brew, frose, and roasted PB. I have tried them all and just from my flavor palate, I only ever get roasted PB. I LOVE peanut butter. However, my non-vegan friends have really enjoyed the other flavors! It is good...but I wouldnt say its the best vegan ice cream I have had. Perhaps it is because I used to live in a place with so many specialty ice cream places - some that were completely vegan. This is really good and its always so nice going to a scoop shop. But not incredible for vegans. I am really excited to try their two new vegan flavors after covid though!
Skip the sorbet. It tastes like a flavorless watery kool-aid with Splenda. The server was kind though.
I cant visit a city without making one ice cream stop! We stumbled upon Cone, an Irish ice cream shop, as my bus drove by it on our way to one of our locations, so we backtracked it afterwards and it didnt disappoint. They have a lot of unique flavors! I had the Netflix and Chill and it was so good.
My boyfriend and I went here for our Valentines celebration (a few days late). We both ordered NY Strips-I got the petite cut and he got the 49er. They were both incredibly delicious, and we also enjoyed the fresh green beans on the side. We enjoyed the atmosphere-its quite nice inside. The staff was friendly and service was great. Well go again the next time were in San Francisco. Unfortunately, itll probably be a while.
Service was horrible, the white man working there was extremely rude. Ice cream isn’t anything special, definitely not worth it, avoid the place .
Unfortunately, one star it is. My family was excited to visit this west loop ice cream spot, but the customer service did not match what people have told us about this place. Staff were short in response to our curious question about the ice cream and questioned us about putting toppings on one of ice cream choices. Of course we want all the sprinkles!!!! After that experience ordering, there was a bad taste in my mouth I could not even enjoy my time there on their patio or my cone. :( An unfortunate experience.
Blood orange sorbet tasted like sugar water. Service was really bad. Multiple customers were very angry. And there was a guy at the counter doing NOTHING. And then he overcharged us but it was so ridiculous we just paid and didn’t even say anything. Terrible service and ice cream
Excellent little ice cream shop!
So the place itself is super cute, and the ice cream is AMAZING (I had the Nexflix and Chill) but the woman working behind the counter really made the experience! She was so nice and very patient while I tried a million flavors. She also had great recommendations to offer and was just super sweet! They have a few in door seats but their little patio is super cute! It seems like their menu rotates a bit but honestly after trying a few different ones it seems like everything is tasty 😅
This is my go to ice cream place, whenever I have friends/family from out of town visiting I always bring them here. The Guinness and Jameson flavors are delicious and Ive never found anything like them anywhere else!
Cone has a bunch of wacky flavors but they are actually quite delicious. For example Netflix and chill which is a popcorn flavored ice cream with m&ms and Cookie monster with Oreos cookie dough and chips ahoy. In my Cookie monster I didnt notice any cookie dough which was disappointing, but it was still delicious. The only downside of this homemade ice cream is the fact that it is nearly $5 for 1 scoop of ice cream.
Ill return with my relatives. The bill was fair for the quality of food. They have a lot of great reviews for a reason.
The icecream is fresh and soooo rich. The staff is friendly. Very cute and fun place to stop. The place is pristine.
Good ice cream with some vegan options
I’ve given this place a few tries. Good ice cream but unfortunately too expensive for what you get. I most recently paid $9 for a runny milkshake.
Overpriced subpar ice cream. Going to Jenis next time.
This ice cream rocked my WORLD! We tried it on a whim while visiting Chicago and loved it so much we came back for seconds another day. They had some type of berry with goat cheese that sounded strange, but it was amazing! Theres tons of cute boutiques along the same street, so even if its a little out of the way, its worth the trip!
The best ice cream in the west loop. I had the goat cheese raspberry jalapeno. My husband had Jameson & guineas. What an adorable little place & they even had a bonfire outside to enjoy while eating our creamy creations.
Amazing ice cream, some of the best Ive had in the city.
Yummy Irish mint chip!
Amazing Had the Not your mothers brownie batter
Slightly over priced, but you wont be mad about it with their adorable shop and crazy flavors. Some delicious staples, and some that you have to taste in order to appreciate (Netflix and Chill).Theyve got all the options like floats and sundaes and even crazier stuff, but the ice cream is good enough that I stick to their namesake: cones.Update: marshmallow, rice crispies, sprinkles is my new favorite flavor.
This place is so pretty and spacious to be in a small setting. The kids had a blast picking out favors and being able to lounge around an watch Netflix. The staff was Amazing this guy name Jeremiah (Jay) was so helpful and patient with the customers; it was a private Outside party going on and it started to rain so Jay went to ask the parents if it was ok to bring the kids inside so they wont miss out on the party. Keep up the good work an great staffing. Thanks Jay!
This was our first visit to Cones. Super cute little place. I loved their menu selection and thebcreative names for each ice cream! I chose the Elvis justvthe waybthe king orders - peanut butter and banana - in a waffle cone! We also got a small vanilla soft serve for our pup and she really liked it! We will definitely be back to try more flavors!!
Great alternative to jenis.
Cute ice cream shop. There are many great flavors and combinations and they have a cute little outdoor patio.
Don’t go there. I went there today and the guy was very rude and unprofessional.
Love the selection of ice cream flavors at this West Loop favorite! Flavors like Cookie Monster, Guinness, and Baileys are totally worth a try.
Really good ice cream and interesting flavors
They give very hefty scoops and its a good price but they were out of so many flavors and instead of having me read off every flavor maybe you tell me you only have 2
My husband LOVES the Cookie Monster, but Im a non dairy kind of girl and theres only fruit options......everywhere has fruit and at the very least 1 other option, but I had expected Cone to catch up at some point. At least just 1 non dairy flavor like chocolate or vanilla would be amazing for the lactose intolerant, non dairy lifestyle(rs) and the vegan brothers and sisters out there. Please consider soy or coconut milk at some point, you would be surprised at how many people ask for it (my local shop goes through it so quick they had to add soy whip cream to the menu for all the sundae requests!).
There are many choices with unique flavors. All three of ours were delicious.
Cone is amazing!! I don’t usually post reviews, but the brownie sundae I got was so good that I ate it and wrote this review in less than 5 min total.
Perfect ice cream - try extra black! This is a chocolate explosion in your body =) you cant choose any wrong flavour.
I miss this place so much since moving from Chicago. Hubby and I used to come here all the time for ice cream! Situated close to Randolph St with all the nice dinner places. So we would just drop in for dessert after dinner. Its a super cute ice cream spot with unique delicious flavors. Our favorite go to was always the blarney turtle with lavender, green tea, and cookie and cream ice cream. I think green tea is a seasonal but its so good! In summer time weekends the line can get super long though.
Stopped in on a whim and WOW! Totally surprised at how amazing this place was! The Ice Cream was absolutely delicious, the staff were SUPER friendly! We had the cookie monster and root beer float ice creams and both were fantastic. There was only a few tables, all being occupied on a busy Saturday so we took ours to go. But overall, what a great place! Well be back!
Nice place, very weird flavors. Played it safe with a root beer ice cream. It was very good, but not all of them looked edible. (Herb flavors?) Worth a try, but more of a novelty.
I love everything about cone, but in these corona times, i love their walk up window the most! While you cant go wrong with the classics, all of their crazy flavors make it fun to switch things up each time we are there!
Really delicious ice cream, and served in generous but not unreasonable portions. My favorite right now is their brownie one. Super cute patio, and a back room that would probably be a dope place for a birthday party
Best ice cream in the city which is no surprise since its located in West Loop (aka the best loop). I consider myself an ice cream afficionado and will travel great distances for the good stuff. Cone has every changing flavors, friendly staff, and the best creamy goodness in the city of Chicago.Be prepared to wait in line because unless youre getting your fix in January when its 0 degrees outside, Cone has a line!
I have been wanting to try this ice cream shop for a while now, especially after reading the great reviews and getting a personal recommendation from a friend. I saw that there was a cute little walk up window, which made the place even better in my opinion! I rang the bell, a young gentleman behind the counter next to the window looked back at me and walked away. I thought okay he must be finishing up with a customer inside. I waited a few minutes nobody came to the window. Rang the bell again and that was when the young man came out a side back door with trash, stopped, made direct eye contact with me and continued on his way. I was taken aback by the lack of customer service that took place. I read so many reviews about friendly, welcoming, and kind customer service. I experienced no such thing during my visit here. I went inside and asked if the window was still open for service and was told yes. Im not understanding why I, a paying customer, was ignored. Outside of that experience the ice cream was exceptional, but the customer service I experienced left a bad taste for me.
Great icecream and service! Super cute little Irish place :)
My daughter and I take classes at Krav Maga just a couple doors down and have been savoring a taste of ice cream from this particular spot for some time now. We finally stop after class and its a rather warm evening, on 6/8/20, for a post workout snack around 6:30p. Its no contact which is great.I finally decide on a double scoop of spotted turtle on a sugar cone and my daughter is unsure of her pick. I place my order with an older man at the window. After my request, I ask if my daughter can taste a bit of another choice before we decide because if she likes it, she would also like a double scoop. He looks and me funny, then says we dont do the samples thru the window. I then ask can she change the ice cream if we pay for it and she doesnt like it, and he replied no!Thinking he would have some understanding of us wanting to have ice cream together, I explained we would both like to enjoy our choice and she want something different than the normal chocolate she always gets. He stated they didnt do the samples thru the window and that they didnt have any more spoons anyways. I saw 2 ladies before me with ice cream in a cup and they both had spoons. I then asked how would one eat their ice cream from a cup of they had no more spoons and what were they doing for people who wanted a sundae? He then gave a speech about covid and not giving the taste on the spoon thru the window for health reasons. I then stated the obvious, you are handing all of the ice cream thru the window. He then tells me to have my daughter to choose something she knows she likes and that they have a bunch of flavors because he wasnt giving her a taste!! I thanked him and left the window. I will not spend money with places that treat me as if I am the problem.
The hype is misplaced in our opinion.... the place is big and the outdoor area is certainly nice! but the ice cream was underwhelming 😔 the cones tasted stale and the meager selection of flavors left a lot to be desired! Also... realizing I sound traditional... you gotta cover the basics! You cant have an ice cream parlor, no matter how trendy without a vanilla and chocolate option. Peanut butter/ brown sugar and lavender/ honey is not for everybody.Cant find a way to respond privately, so.... in response to the owners message that the basic flavors are always available: we asked! And were told that what we see is what we get; the chocolate ice cream had melted apparently. Imagine that! In an ice cream shop!
Delicious home-made ice cream. Try a sample of the Baileys flavor - itll be begging you for more! Although I opted for the bright blue Cookie Monster loaded with cookie dough and Oreo, I was kicking myself for not getting Baileys. Next time! The housemade waffle cone was delicious and didnt break or leak. Theres also a nice patio perfect for your furry friend!
Lots of wonderful flavors to choose from. The staff were very friendly and patient. Had to go taste a lot before finally got myself fixated on what I want but the crew was patiently waiting and recommending flavors
Terrible customer service, the guy had a really bad attitude. I definitely do no go back again and do mo recommend this place.
Gotta try the cookie monster great place
Love that this place is a couple blocks from my house now. Hubs had the Jameson ice cream and loved it. I had the Chocolate Chip that might have had a little freezer burn, but it was still good. I mean, its ice cream. ;)Also got some little 25 cent homemade shortbread cookies. Yum! Definitely Irish-run, cute little shop. Well be back!
This place is great! Loved all the flavors. They have a great space out back, or on the patio for you to eat in. Only reason its a 4/5 is because the day we went a few of the flavors had changed but they hadnt updated their signage. Minor detail. Ice cream is still great.
We have been going to Cone for years now and figured it was time to write a review! Always great atmosphere inside, with plenty of room. If you don’t see any seating, walk to the back...large room with lots of space. They also have a great side outdoor space, dog friendly too! Their outside order window is open intermittently, but easy enough to order inside and take out. Their soft serve ice cream has always been a struggle for them. It’s usually never working and when it does, the consistency is way off. I would stick to their regular ice cream!
Birthday cake ice cream was incredible but giving 3 stars because $9 for one scoop?! I got a waffle cone too so I guess that upped the price but damn what this stuff made of gold? Not worth it when Jenis is around the block and just as good for less money.
I discovered this place walking along Madison, and Im SO glad I did! Its one of my top places to get ice cream! They always have something new to try and its delicious every time. They have the staple flavors like chocolate chip, but also have eclectic flavors. Its pricey, but its worth it. There is even a outdoor seating area for guests to sit and enjoy the weather. Great place! I will definitely make my way here many times again.
A great spot in the summer to get some delicious ice cream. They have many unique flavors that are constantly rotating. They also have a nice little spot outside to hangout while you eat.
This is absolutely my favorite ice cream place in the city but the last time I went in no one was there at the counter, I tried calling the store no one answered and waited almost 15 minutes for someone to finally come out and take our order. Extremely disappointed in the service.
Nice patio in the middle of west loop - slightly pricey but worth it on a nice day to enjoy the city.
Everything is delicious and tasty also the quality and the quantity is in balance with the price. What I find the best is the dark/white chocolate topping.
One of the best icecream experiences Ive had. I wish I could give it 10 stars. Anna was my server at the counter & made the experience. From sampling to my delight & narrowing my options down & giving the healthy portions that this establishment serves. AMAZING flavors with unique selections! This is a must while in Chicago!
We all thought we could easily eat the plate of ice cream, so we also ordered a side of fries. Both the orders ended up being larger than our heads.
Great ice cream and easy to use in this pandemic.
