I have been coming to H&B for many years. I am a professional carpenter and all around handy man. I have never been disappointed coming here. They have all kinds of hard to find items. Hey also have many specialty items that you can’t get at the big box stores. This is the firs place I go for all kinds of things and rarely leave without what I came for. Joe, George and the rest of the crew have great knowledge about their stuff and are patient when listening to what your doing and have great advice that has helped me with some tough repairs. This place is one of the few old school hardware stores that is an absolute pleasure to visit!!

I went to the store to get a part and they did not have it in stock but they did refer me to an electrical company that could help me and did. So I think its great that even though I didnt buy anything they were very helpful for me and I got my job done. Thank you True Value

Always helpful. This time I needed a filter and spark plug for a lawnmower. A nice young man found them for me and I was on my way in no time. No looking through long aisles, hoping to find someone who knows something.

This hardware store is truly fantastic. The staff are always friendly. They have a *ton* of knowledge and are always up for solving a problem- I call and stop by for all kinds of things and they have helped me work through all of it. This shop is totally the epitome of a classic neighborhood business - they are great community resource, and honestly, just wonderful people.

This is the hardware you knew before the big box stores ruined our nation. None are American owned. H & B not only has all your hardware & related needs, they have the knowledge to assist you with your project. You dont have to walk hundreds of feet to locate your item(s). Its just a few feet from the door & any one of the very knowledgeable and friendly staff can & will assist you in your search. As long as I have been a N/W Sider, I have been a regular customer. Im there so frequently, customers ask me where to find an item! Make this your hardware haunt too and you wont be disappointed!

Great little store. Excellent service! Theyre not a big box store so dont expect super cheap prices, but you will get help and guidance if you need it. And Ive been able to find things at this store that are unknown at the big stores.

The staff members are wonderful they answer your questions. They are better then the box store.

Had keys re made a couple times

Will not be returning. Staff is not wearing masks at all (not even partial). Many customers are also without mask even though the sign says nobody can be in the store without mask. Will be making the trek to a store further away that takes this seriously.

H & B True Value is great! I go in here all the time and the staff are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. (but no, they dont jump on you the minute you step in the door)Last Saturday a nice young man helped me with a broken pull chain on a vintage light fixture, I got a key cut and bought a few other items. they have so much good stuff! if you love hardware stores, you gotta try this place.

Very well stocked older hardware store with very knowledgeable workers.

Extremely friendly service. As soon as I walked in I was greeted, I told the folks what I was looking for ( had to replace a license plate ) I was shown exactly where the correct sized screws and bolts were. I did some browsing and was checked in to make sure I was good with everything. The whole visit lasted maybe 2-3 minutes. Thanks H & B. Highly recommend.

These guys are always ready to quickly help you find what you need. If they dont have it they can order it or send you to the right place. You probably wont get this level of service at a big box store.

Very helpful & kind staff, broke window needed it repaired right away, they repaired it in 15 minutes right before they closed store. Forever grateful & now a new customer! We need more businesses out there like this.

I love this hardware store! It reminds me of the stores I used to go to with my father, long before the big-box stores existed, especially because its small yet absolutely crammed full of so much useful stuff! And the staff is so knowledgeable, even the newbies, and gives such good advice. I almost always find exactly what I need here, so I always visit this store first. Thank you, H&B!.

Support you local shops!! This place is such a great asset to the neighborhood and the owner and staff are so helpful. They almost always have everything I need, but today they demonstrated how they can go above and beyond when something rare isnt in stock. My central AC unit went out today with the city issuing excessive heat warnings. I needed to replace the start capacitor, but couldnt find it anywhere in stock on a Saturday. H&B didnt have any either, but Joe took the time to suggest some places that might have them and still be open. Sure enough, I was able to locate one and repair the unit for less than $20 versus the 10X cost of getting a repairman out on a Saturday for a 10-minute job.

This place is better than awesome. I had a project I was working on and I must have made more than 20 trips to the store that week and the staff was excellent in helping me find the right tools I needed to make the project complete. I felt like a pro after and it was all thanks to these guys here.

Very knowledgeable, personable staff. Came in for a gas can a couple weeks ago and the owner/manager offered me a discount because he saw that they were going to be on sale the following week.Good people.

Ive never seen a more neighborly and friendly hardware store. My rollerblades lost a wheel and I went in looking to see if they had a solution for me. I was a long way from home and was ready to walk all the way back, they took my wheel, found a replacement screw and let me fix them in the shop. On top of that they didnt charge me for the screw or the use of the tools. I am truly thankful for these guys. They have good hearts, not something that is very common now-a-days. If they are reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Dont buy anything or bring anything in there for repair. I bring in two lawn mowers for repair, Never received calls so i called few weeks later. They told me they got ride of it. Probably sold it off. this was years ago, What is wrong with this place. one was a craftsmen rear wheel propel lawn mower and the other one was a zero turn ariens lawn mower. This place is Not a friendly place to shop neither.

The owner Joe treats every customer he meets like family, and really provide the best experience as far resolving any of your hardware issues. I have lived in the neighborhood since 1997 and my dad and I have been visiting them since we moved here. Im not in any shape a handy person but one of their staff will help you to find what you need and how to install it without feeling self conscious. Joe will even take on unique projects that most typcial big chain hardstores stay away from and will find a solution. 10 🌟

A much better place to get supplies for your home project than any big-box store. The staff know what theyre talking about and can help you avoid mistakes with suggestions.
