Had good a selection and exactly what I needed. It felt a little cramped however and difficult to navigate inside the store. (Could use more signage.)And yes, the store does close at 4pm. Store appears to be run by an older couple with no other employees.

All I want to do is completely reorganize this store. But the staff is helpful and the prices are reasonable.

I respect this place for immediately meeting me at the door to put a mask on. I know thats a nuisance to some people, including those like me who are vaccinated, but NOT ME. Ill mask up every single time. I came here to try to get a key copied, one that the manufacturer discontinued, online websites couldnt order, and two other hardware stores couldnt do. I respect that their key copier TRIED. It didnt work and was too short, but the guy (dont know his name but hes older, Asian, dark hair) at the key copying desk made an attempt.My only complaint was there were two other keys that I was trying to figure out how to hook with the rest of my keys after the little handles broke (and they couldnt be copied). The same guy told me to drill a hole, but he refused to do it because he had some kind of confusion about a car key with another customer. I looked around at all the keychains and found a rubber holder for less than a dollar that solved my whole problem. He should have just told me to try that instead.Still though, good customer service. The parking is hard because theyre by a train stop and parking meters, but I found free spots twice because Im used to this area being a Borders. (I miss Borders so much.)

Although the store is not handicap friendly, the staff is. Jeff was a huge help for me and my sister. Her walker had broken and he went out of his way to help us fix it. I really appreciate the above and beyond effort he made. Cannot be more grateful. Hope his boss knows what a gem he has in this employee.

Aged from the years but very rustic, reminds me of when I was a small boy shopping with my dad at the local hardware store in the country. Most of the workers were friendly, one extremely nice.

I went in for a pipe wrench, and they showed me something much better for the same price. Then the salesman helped me choose the right drainage pipes for my sink and gave me some helpful advice about installing them. ThisPlace is a real hardware store, and their employees are real hardware people.

I will never go back in the store ..the manger was on race profiling..looking at me like I was going to steel out of the store and was in my property management company outfit .. I will drive the extra mile not to shop in that nasty outdated store !

Can be difficult to get to as Wilson station handicapped entrance is several blocks away and is a ramp not an elevator

Nothing but love for this store. The main guy (owner?) there is quick to ask what I need right when I walk in, and almost always has it in stock. My spouse gets the same treatment. The store has a deep and compact layout, but it beats walking miles of distance for a handful of items at the larger depots.

Over priced...and when I walk in they dont speak but certain customers get a warm greeting. The guy that makes the keys is professional though

It looks little from the outside, but its just a mirage. Theres a really good selection and the customer service was very very attentive. 100% get your hardware needs here.

My experience with Uptown Ace Hardware store has always been good for the pass forty years. Very, very very helpful. I was able to repair things in my home by their assistance. Thank GOD.

I so appreciated the kindness and helpfulness of the employees on my recent/first visit! They were so nice to my son and also offered my pup treats at checkout. They had exactly what I was looking for (something that the big box stores did not have). They offer a huge assortment of products, not just home improvement items. Its Ace, but has a cute local shop feel to it. the owner is very caring and helpful who also seems like he loves his job.

Lots of unique and useful hardware that is difficult to find at other home improvement stores. A little bit messy, but the employees know where everything is, so it isnt too much of an issue.

Excellent customer service for a pick-up online order. Items were ready on arrival and wheeled out to my car. Thank you.

Friendly staff, good diverse selection of stuff. Only place for improvement would be some stuff seemed limited stock or missing but it may have been out of season. Hopefully that front window gets fixed soon.

Needed copies of key 🔑 .Had tried other places but unfortunately the copies never fit the locks correctly. Which meant time AND money wasted. But not this time came here last week and was treated nicely even though it was 5 minutes from closing. Got my keys AND they fit. Uptowners lets use our great ACE.

I like going to this place. The building is tucked between a side street and the Wilson El stop. Its small, but they have everything in there. A much preferred experience to some big box store.

I did not go in, my brother went in for me. My brother said it looks very small from outside but once you are inside its big! And he said that they were very helpful. So that means it was good.

I asked the owner how long their business has been restricted by construction. He said its been about 3 years now. Theyre very helpful and always go out of their way to find whatever you need.

Easy to miss location, especially with the construction. But worth the trouble to find. Its much larger than it seems and the selection is great. Staff is super helpful and welcoming.

I love this place! They have everything you need for household fix em ups! They have great prices and the staff really know their stuff. I just purchased a new showerhead and shower rod for my bathroom. The guy even told me how to install it for maximum efficiency. Im glad this place is walking distance for me.

Average small town (in a huge city) hardware store. Not updated recently and layout is ancient. Employees know it well so just ask them where anything is because you wont be able to find it. Theyre happy to help.
