I hate to leave a bad review, but I would have wanted to know of this prior to making a purchase online from Bass Club Chicago. I had problems throughout the whole purchase, return and refund period.First, as you can see by the pictures posted below, the color of the Bass they showed online was way different from what it was. Somehow it looked way darker online to make it look less pink. Its supposed to be aged fiesta red.Second, I asked them if they could get it to me by Saturday, and they could, and it arrived Monday bc fed-ex didnt pick it up on time.Third, they were really cool about the return, which is why I am going with 2 stars instead of 1 star, but fedex couldnt deliver the package for about a week bc Bass Club apparently couldnt sign for it? Mark said he was busy on the road and would pick it up when he got back or something. Anyway, it was in limbo on the fedex truck for a week...Fourth, once he picked it up roughly a week after I sent it, he said he would refund me as soon as he verified its condition. That was oct 2. I didnt hear anything for 11 days. I had to call, email, facebook message and open a paypal dispute to get him to reply to me.Finally, once I put all that effort into it, 12 days after he said hed refund me, and about 3 weeks after I returned it, I got my money back.It was just very poor advertising from the start, and the communication was super slow and unprofessional. Holding my cash for 2 extra weeks doesnt sit well with me either. So, in the end, all is well, I just feel a little deceived by the representation of the Bass color online, and I am not happy with how they handle their refunds. I can appreciate its a weird time right now, but this was too much.
Drove out to purchase at least one bass cab, probably two. Got there and couldnt find the door so I called and the guy says theyre by appointment only. I asked why it wasnt on the website and he said it was, then went on to say that google is hard to deal with on updating the hours they post.So I drive another hour back home... and about $8 in tolls... only to pull up their website and see that it says so call, email, or visit today.. then clearly lists the hours as 11-5 on Fridays and 11-3 on Saturdays.Wow... just wow. Only open without appointment for 10hrs per week and still couldnt be bothered to show up to work? Not interested in $1650 in gross revenue by noon on a weekday? No worries. The people at Sweetwater were kind enough to clock in today.
If you arent a musician, this place might not be so interesting to you. If you are a musician, this will be heaven on earth. My fiancee and I were in town to see some baseball and do some site seeing... we accidentally stumbled across Bass Club Chicago and decided to check them out. Whoa. ::mind blown:: A musicians dream. Anything and everything you could ever think of, Im pretty sure they have it. If they dont, Im pretty sure they could get it.Walking in, you just see a giant wall of guitars. Right there were in love. The staff is very chill, not overbearing in the slightest, very knowledgeable, knows their stuff and very helpful. A lot of great ones... and you can just take them down and try them out. The practice rooms are awesome. If you just want to sit and chill and wait for your musician friend to play around, they have couches that look super comfy (I did not sit on them).Downstairs is the Bassment, thats right, basses galore, and also a small shop for repairs and I think customization. Through a door upstairs is the drum room. Stacks of drum kits. There is a acoustic room too. Because, you know, they need their own separate room (they really do). Back up at the counter so many pedals. The only thing I wished was different was they had a wall of t-shirts, and not a single ladies shirt. They said they were sorry, but they thought they had some on line. Not the same, but oh well. I guess not as many girls come in looking for ladies shirts.Every musician passing through the chicago area needs to put this on their list of places to stop. Totally worth it, even just for some picks.
Still moving in to the new space, so only a few things are setup. The counter is set up in the back and some wall mountings. Hopefully the new place will not be as cramped like the smaller western avenue place.
