If you are a serious musician, or just want to set your dormant inner musician free, check this place out! Lessons, instruments, sheet music, and knowledgeable musician sales teams make this place a hub for music lovers. Percussion instruments, guitars, keyboards & a range of digital pianos are ready for you to try and buy. I have gifted acoustic guitars and lessons, most recently, and have my eye on digital keyboards next. Great prices with experienced staff to guide your purchases...win win!
The best music equipment shop in Chicago. Their name is Guitar Center but you can expect much more than that. They have all kind of guitar, piano, MIDI, accessories, you name it. Their space is pretty huge and the best part is you can play instruments while you’re shopping. Very reasonable price ranged from $100 if you look for a decent acoustic guitar.
Hard to say anything at all. The staff is nice. There was a cool dude discussing basses with me. Everyone was cordial. Prices went up due to inflation. So yeah unless you already have the instrument you like you would have to just close your eyes and be ready to spend about a 1000.But the place is lit. I love it.
WORST GUITAR CENTER in the country, and Ive been to a few, east, west, and third coast. These guys are paid to just stand around without asking customers to see if they need help. Youd think they think its important for their sake to drum up some business, even if its pretending that they care about their customers. But that basic sense of customer service simply goes over their heads.PRO AUDIO - that section through the glass partition and extends to the back. The section that you would think is occupied by guys who care a little bit more about their pro customers. No. Its all the same, even in Pro Audio. Two guys: One older with grey hair and the other younger dude with dark hair, a little taller. BOTH have the personality of a rock. Actually, a rock would have a little more personality, and at least a rock wont give you dirty looks. You ask the pro customers service reps in Pro Audio and they either say yes or no. No going beyond their present space that occupies their footprints to help you out. No searching on the companys website to see if there are other options. No walking to other areas of the store to see that perhaps what you are looking for is in the guitar accessories section out front. You would think that part of customer service is helping the customers find the product they are looking for. No, not with these PRO AUDIO guys. Perhaps they are too cool to do that. Its alright. I took my money and went to a local shop a mile or so northwest and found what I was looking for. And...customer service at that store, albeit not as well known, was absolutely fabulous.I will not support this store. ever.
Nice facility, with a great selection of guitars to try. Good stock of accessories, and the staff was helpful without hovering. I left with a new acoustic, three accessories, a smile on my face, and a happy heart!
The people were super helpful in helping me to get more information on a new guitar. All in all definitely coming back here!
Always like this place. Got a set up on my Fender accoustic and they did an amazing job. They said it would take three days. I was satisfied. I mention to the clerk I was going into the studio the following week. The guitar tech set it up the next day because he knew I needed it for recording . That was above and beyond a nice thing to do.
The employees were really helpful in helping me find the equipment that I needed. I was able to get in and out in about 20 minutes. I did have an idea of what I wanted. Anything they didn’t have in stock we were able to find a something of equivalent value and around the same price. Super happy with what I got
Dave helped me customize my Epiphone Les Paul into basically a Gibson Les Paul. He was able to upgrade my wiring to a Jimmy Page style setup. Every place I called quoted me at least $75-100 more and estimated it would take at least a week. Dave was able to get it done in 2 days. The staff I have encountered have been friendly and insightful with my rig and amp setup.
Service is always stellar! never a disappointment and i always find exactly what i need. love this place!
My girlfriend and I just finished grad school and relocated to Chicago for work. We went to the store to purchase a digital piano for our studio. Was greeted by a sales rep named Shawn, who showed us into the piano room. He gave us space to explore the different models on our own, yet stayed close enough to answer questions, and got us a discount. We ended up paying $1600+ for a Roland model on Aug 9th. So far so good!Fast forward to today, Aug 16th, and our piano still isnt shipped! We paid $60+ for shipping and everyday when we called, Shawn or Andy (his manager) would promise us hell ship it the next day & email us the UPS tracking number. So far, no tracking info or piano !!After paying $1600+, we are tired of calling everyday, often being put on hold for more than 15 min, and then only to hear well take care of it/ well ship it tomorrow/ well send you the tracking info but then not receiving ANYTHING from them. Were both recent graduates who are excited to start life in a new city, yet Guitar Center gave us a rude awakening. Extremely disappointed so far.Update on Aug17th: after speaking to a different manager named Tito, he took notes of our situation and shipped it to us the next day. Tito changed the review from 1 to 3 stars!
Friendly people, Daves pretty cool. nice selection of guitars. I think they have an ai stocking algorithm, so might be worth a call 😊😊 they had a yellow Les Paul I was hoping for
Great coffee, great sandwiches. Great price
Imo great company everyone from the call center customer service department to the in-store professionals I felt so taken care of, beyond happy with my experiences. Ryan in Repairs is Exceptional! 🙌
I’ve been here about 3/4 times now and I keep asking questions and walk out with the wrong stuff every time. The guys working pro audio should really know what they’re talking about. Sucks I’ve spent more in Lyft fare I could have put that money towards something cool from the store. Cmon guys. After going back in and speaking to Cason he was able to help me and make sure I had what I needed.
Worst customer service, 5 dudes standing around. Couldnt speak to a supervisor. Youd better off reading reviews on Amazon.
Love the expert help and guitar repair Dave was great
David is an ASTOUNDINGLY gifted Luthier! My Bass is truly happy again; I’m also delighted with the knowledge & professionalism of Chloe & Garret-😊
Guitar Center is always a fun place to golf you like or enjoy playing instruments but this time around we were somewhat disappointed that we didnt find what we went looking for
Huge selection of guitars and audio electronics. Competent service.
Very nice staff. Let me wander until I was ready to talk to someone about what I was interested in. Very helpful in letting me know about my options! Even polished the guitar up for me before I left.
I bought some iron maiden pickups which are awesome for playing my guitar. I recommend this place for buying instruments.
Ive been going to this store ever since I was 18 yrs old! They are so helpful & reliable on which product is the best option in saving alot of money!
Remember, if an item is in stock on their website, that means its not in the store but can be days later if you order it from the website. Unless, when that item is in transit to the store it still might end up that it just wasnt on the truck. Its wild that a brick and mortar store d*cked me around and turned me away from making a $300 purchase but as a result theyve indefinitely lost a customer.
Amazing place to check out for almost everything music related! Very big rec to check out if youre driving around halsted.
Nice store, lots of equipment and knowledgeable staffs.
Awesome as always found what I needed Trent was a big help. Thanks Trent !!!👍
Great selection of keyboards & synthesizers.
The guy in the drum department rocked again! Introduced me to the reality of the Velcro drum pad, Im stoked!
In mid-October, I purchased a used guitar from this location. Within 2 weeks, it had broke after a minor fall. I called this location, and after an initial unpleasant experience was able to speak with the store manager. He was polite, empathetic and calmly explained how my guitar had broken so quickly and provided good options to rectify the situation. The resolution was to take back my guitar and provide a credit towards another.I came into the store and a sales associate walked me through good, inexpensive options for another used guitar. The store manager spoke with me again at purchase and also provided me a gig bag, free of charge, to ensure I was satisfied. The way the store manager and sales associate handled my initial disappointment was a perfect example of great customer service and I walked away thoroughly satisfied. I will definitely be back to purchase again when I am in the market for another instrument or equipment.
Great store, but how about you dont sell at guitar as new when you removed parts of the floyd rose to sell individually. Seriously would not have wasted my money knowing I had to buy things all the NEW jackson guitars came with. Smh.
I had an electronics issue with an acoustic guitar I bought at another GC location. So, I went to the Chicago store because they had 4 of the same model for a swap.Nick was the person who helped me and he went above and beyond the call of duty, making sure I got a nice replacement (because all guitars are different) and that I was happy with my choice. Kudos to Nick for his patience and help. The overall selection of music equipment there is large and diverse. Its not the closest GC to my home, but I would definitely shop there in the future.
Is great customer service
A good place to find cheap used gear or if you need to get rid of something fast you can sell it here
Great service and variety.
The staff is always nice and helpful.
A little bit chaos around here...
Nick was great. Lots of selections. No bad to experience till now. Definitely a place to check in.
Customer service is the worst.Absolutely worst experience at a retail store.Dont go here unless you want to be ignored and lied to, and ignored some more.
My reason for going was an audio/ turntable pre-amp & they were out of stock. The store is still very cool!
Helpful staff! Also this location has way more stuff than the others throughout, definitely worth the drive. They also have parking
No one greeted us when we walked in or asked if we needed help at any time, and no one was at the checkout desk and we had to wait for service for 10 minutes :( But there were walrus pedals that were easy to demo near all the expensive guitars so thats cooool
They dont have any knowledgeable people there. They are short staffed and prices are higher than online or Sweetwater. There selection is not big either.
Never had a problem at this guitar center. Always helps me find what I need and then some!
The costumer care was great..it is a great location, free parking, it was a very nice place... they can ask any questions that you may need...
Pretty popular which means you might have to wait to be helped but usually quite helpful and chatty employees will take time to help you
Great place to find gear. Friendly and helpful staff.
Just ask for a manager and you should b good if you got questions. Popular location so stock be pow often.
I brought my jazz bass in for a setup and Ryan in repairs did a great job working on it. The turn around time was quick as well 👌
Customer service was helpful, helped me pick a guitar perfect for me!
It doesnt matter of you are professional on music or not. This is the place that you can find what you want in music! There is free parking with validation as well.
Great products and helpful employees
The employee helped me find the exact strings to produce the exact sound I wanted from my guitar. Very happy
Initial experience was great. Ordered a piano, back stocked for months, got a call they had it in store and could get it that weekend. Didn’t happen, now it’s being delivered to my house the day of my wedding ceremony. Manager interrupted me at every turn when I calmly explained why this was so frustrating, taking no accountability and didn’t make any effort to keep business or remedy ANY part of the situation. I recommend trying locally owned stores instead after all the staff interactions people have had including my own. Really disappointing. Oh, and I was told no bench came with the piano so I purchased a $100 one. My piano arrived 4 months later and had a bench. It was late because guitar center didn’t list my phone number to arrange delivery but blamed it on me lol!!! Don’t waste hour time here.
Friendly, no nonsense, knowledgeable staff. Competitive pricing. Had an excellent buying experience, thanks Todd👍
Parking lot is dark and a little confusing. Staff at guitar center is awesome. Friendly, good vibes, super complete in terms of variety of gear.
Always a great experience.
Amazing customer service and nice prices, along with good quality of their inventory!!!
I had a great experience everyone was so friendly. The employee that helped me was so knowledgeable I recommend everyone to shop here.
Very nice customer service there, always somebody there to help you out with any questions you have
Great service and I found all what I needed for my guitar
Friendly staff, with the exception of Ashley. I would not even hire her to work in their warehouse. Really bad customer service skills, maybe she was hired for her drumming skills....
Good but not great, prices a bit high but not real bad. Chicago Guitar exchange is the better option
The people is so kind
I used to go here a lot with my grandfather and the staff there are always happy to assist in any music inquiry or advice and in my experience its always been great.
They have musical equipment, My recent return was without hassle! Also; they have music equipment. No it’s not Amazon, it’s a building that has things in it you can buy. It’s just like prime; you get it the same day. They have the things that make the noises come out of your car stereo.
The staff here are some of the most friendly and knowledgeable that Ive encountered. Ive been extremely satisfied with my experience every time Ive visited this Guitar Center.
Spent 1200 bucks on a keyboard today and the guy that helped me was dismissive and rude. Im not sure what I did to deserve the brusque attitude while I was spoon-feeding him commission, but it was very off-putting. I didnt even try to haggle or anything, he just decided he didnt like me from the get-go. So if you want salesmanship like that, this is the Guitar Center for you.
What an amazing and fantastic experience I am a noob and I ask a lot of dumb questions but the sales person was patient and accommodating. I recently decided to learn how to play my two electric guitars properly and the nice lady explained about in person and remote learning options made me feel great just the over all experience was tremendous. I do plan on going back to have one of my guitars restrung properly. The prices were great they had a lot of options Im very happy and definitely recommend this place. If your worried social distancing they had us wait outside so too many people were not in the masks were work and social distance was definitely inforced.
There customer service is completely rude instead of doing there job they ignore u in pro audio n jump on the phone I can see why u going outta business
Theyre always good to me, the way they handle their customers is the best.
He led me into the drum/ percussion room. he told me to play anything i wanted. i inquired about vintage cymbals, got some hardware replaced for my kick drum (usually parts that normally cant be found because i own a premiere kit), i gazed lovingly at the wall of sticks & made my choices.if you are a drummer, this place is paradise.in every way.plus its nice & hidden like a speakeasy.you dont know about it unless you know about it.
Its the place to go for musicians. Just be aware that you may have to wait outside if there are many customers. We waited about 19 minutes.
Very helpful
I think they did a good enough job with the covid situation. There was adequate spacing and a very well thought out and executed plan to address the issues pertaining to why and how they are open during phase 3. Well done.
Great staff!
This is a good guitar center location and they have free parking
Walking the streets of Chicago, we were often surprised to find Guitar Center and it was amazing. Very pleasant environment with a wide range of musical instruments and accessories that you can test. We feel at home. Attended by specialized professionals, especially Chloe, who produced a very positive atmosphere and was certainly very friendly and helpful. We love our purchase (Seagull M4 Guitar) and are here training to be able to play just like her! Hahahahahaha ...I highly recommend this place.
Good service
Excellent store and people !
I have been playing since 1962, its the place to be if you are a musicians.
Helpful and patient folks working here.
