I live at Hancock as a resident so I know this grocery store very well. Do not attempt to come here if you do not live in the building, it is exclusively for residents. This store was actually a huge selling point for me when deciding to live here. How convenient is it to have a grocery store where you live, right? That was my first thought, but after shopping here for a couple months, I slowly realized the store itself is abysmal. First of all, they dont really have a lot of options here. You can get some essentials, but given that its not a full on grocery store, you def will not find everything youre looking for. Secondly, the quality of the groceries is not great. I remember buying smoked salmon once and when I ate it, I could tell it had been sitting on a shelf for a bit too long. Ive also found the place to be EXTREMELY overpriced. I go to Trader Joes and get high quality products for half the price. I also think the customer service is awful as there is no attempt at good customer service. Dont expect any hello or thank you as the staff literally could care less about you. Im always welcome and treated with such respect at Trader Joes, but here its the complete opposite. Its as if youre a burden. The Hancock residential area has a great reputation in Chicago, but if people knew just how bad this grocery store is, their reputation would plummet so far. They really need to update this entire store. Its old, overpriced, and overall just not a good place to get groceries.

I was told this place was for residents only. Kinda factored into me moving into the area but whatever I have a great area that im living in, just wish i had known about this before I spent 30 mins looking for the place.

Your one stop-shop for all you need if you live in the Hancock Center.Sometimes they have stuff on sale which makes it quite worth taking a look on the way out for grocery shopping. Chances are, you get really good deals on what you need. Also a big time saver which is worth the slightly higher than normal price level if you dont get a deal. They have a nice deli bar which is fair priced and good quality so you can pick up warm food there. They also do home deliveries for residents of the tower, but I havent tried that.If they now would be open till midnight it would really be perfect.

Not for public. The security said this is for the residents of the building. He was a nice guy and told me to just go to walgreens ~ 4 mins away.

This is a great little store. It is open to the building workers and the people who live here. It is awesome to have a store here in this awesome building! However, you have to work here or live here to go to this store.

I have been an owner in Hancock since 1978. The regular, everyday prices for goods are atrocious. Their weekly sale flyer here does not include everything on the one @ their other locations. Many residents are seen w/shopping carts full of stuff from Jewel, Treasure Island or Aldi. The rich & famous love the store----the rest of us patronize it during a blizzard.

This place shouldn’t be in any listings here or anywhere without making it abundantly clear in the store headline that THE PUBLIC IS NOT ALLOWED. Its presence only causes great inconvenience for people like me who make special plans to go there and are rebuffed!

This grocery store may not be whole foods, but it is small enough that you can go in and leave quickly. They have a nice selection of prepaired foods and their potato salad is excellent.

We went there to purchase a few bottles of wine but we were turned away because we were told that only residences were allowed into the market place. I guess they didnt want my money. Thats fine. There was another market right down the street.

Check the expiration dates on their shelved foods. The sandwich/deli lady is very rude-she always seems annoyed.
