Just got back from this place, I believe this was my fifth visit so I figured it was time to review. Me and my girlfriend (she loves this place and is the one who introduced me to it) bought a bunch of flower plants for my flower pot and I’m so happy with my purchase. The staff here is really helpful. Collin stood with us throughout the entire purchase and helped us pick the perfect plants for our needs and explained everything about each plant too, which was extremely helpful to me as I’m new to planting. We plan to come back to get more plants and definitely recommend this place!

Epic experience!! The staff was so welcoming and helpful, especially for my first time being there. The store is like 2 blocks long so I wasnt sure how it all logistically worked. But several different staff members helped me out and explained the layout. They also walked me around the nursery to help me choose the perfect indoor plants for my space. It was such a fun, easy experience. Cant wait to transplant these beauties, and cant wait to go back for more!

The BEST place for all plant/tree needs! We wanted to create a beautiful arrangement for our hanging railing planters and didnt know here to start. It can be overwhelming. Gail assisted us and helped design an amazing assortment of plants and flowers that love the sun and can handle higher winds. Check out the photos of the arrangement we created with her and then how we did it as soon as we got home! Gail was amazing and really cared about making sure we were happy and we felt went out of her way. Overall Gethsemane is just full of good vibes and happy folks - both the employees and the customers!

I could spend hours here! what a lovely space and what attentive, knowledgeable staff! i can’t believe i walked by so many times without going in. favorite garden center in town, hands down.

My son lives in Chicago and when I was visiting from Texas he brought me to Gethsemane Garden Center! I can see why he loves it! I will come again!

Labor day sidewalk is a must come. Trees are high quality. Spring seedlings sales are good value. Staff are friendly and remember their customers

👁 👄 👁 when I saw that greenhouse...With the greenhouses in the conservatory in Lincoln Park closed, and other plant shops closed to in person shopping - I needed this.This is a pretty huge showroom greenhouse with tons of selection in tropicals as well as cacti & succulents. They also have a real rarity - actual Bonsai stock and accessories.I found not only wishlist plants here but also some amazing pots at a good price.I’m so glad I came here, and I will keep coming back! They seem like an awesome local business 👍

Purchased a beautiful spread of plants at very fair prices! One of the staff members helped me pick out each one and provided excellent recommendations. This place is knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile for their customers. I cant recommend them enough.

I have had good and bad experiences at this plant store but this past time I went was the final straw. I spent 200 dollars on plants that looked full and beautiful but little did I know that they were infected with spider mites AND had severe root rot to the point where my only option is to propagate and hope that I can save something. Out of the 4 plants I got this past time only 2 weeks ago, 3 had spider mites and 2 have completely rotted root systems. I have included a picture of a plant I went to repot and found that not a single root was viable. I have 2 plants left standing and I am not optimistic. Plants I have from other smaller shops in the city are thriving. Isolate and treat any plants you buy immediate and ask to see the roots before you purchase. This place used to be amazing but it has gone way downhill!!!!

This garden shop is absolutely full of everything you need for your garden. They have a shop inside the store that has beautiful things, from birthday candles, aprons, pots, patio dishware. patio cushions, shrubs and trees, lawn toys for the kids and adults, beautiful fountains for youre landscaping, beautiful handmade jewelry made from vegetables and plants, and other fabulous artists. Its a definite go to garden spot. The customer service is so welcoming and informative and ever so nice. They have free parking to boot. A great store.

Cant say enough nice things about the staff at Gethsemane, especially Danny and Adam. I went in with a list of questions and some pictures of dying trees in rooftop planters that Ive recently inherited and they knowledgeably answered all my questions. Beyond that they helped me come up with ideas and options that best fit the space both from a perspective of design and cultivating healthy plants, both for the fall and what will work longterm for next year. I will 100% be back in the spring!

Large selection split into 3 or 4 different sections depending on the seasons. Indoor plants, outdoor plants, trees and accessories. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Limited parking. Go here over home Depot or Lowes specifically for plants and their needs.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, The plants are very healthy - what we bought in the summer lasted well into the fall/winter. So many different varieties to choose from. Their prices are very reasonable. We were so happy with our experiences here! Another friend shopped there also had an amazing experiences!

This place is amazing! They have EVERYTHING! Staff was really nice. Prices are good. They have a lot of variety. I recently got into succulents. I live in a small apartment with not much direct sunlight. Trying to figure out whats best to grow. My only small concern is that I think they receive new plants on Fridays and employees were unpacking and it was hard to go and browse due to the large amount of boxes nearby. I ended up exploring the rest of this place. They sell some really cool artwork. They have cute patio furniture. And even some of their stuff was on sale!!! I wish I had seen what was in those boxes but Ill probably stop by on another day. I bought 3 succulents and Im most likely going back for more.

Gethsemane Garden Center is a lush urban oasis. We go there to purchase flowers and plants for our window gardens every May and purchase our tree and wreaths there every winter. Everything is always fantastic quality and all of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. If you love flowers, plants, and trees, visit this place!

When I say let the piece be with you, I am not lying! Gethsemane is super peaceful and I happy to have it located right in my neighborhood. I wanted to get my first plant and didnt know where to begin. Once I entered the garden house, I was assisted by a great sales associate. He showed me the ropes and advised my on the best plant for me! The garden house had had wide variety of plant babies. Yoy will definitely find whatever you are looking for. Overall is was a great experience and I recommend you check them out.

Your #1 spot for buying plants AND getting the best quality advice. Even if you don’t have a green thumb, the folks in the greenhouse are incredibly experienced, always speaking with a smile. I really enjoy my visits here, especially as someone who has become a plant parent.Very LGBTQ friendly! They use gender-neutral language in their customer service, and I’ve loved every visit. You get what you pay for. It’s an old adage, but absolutely true here. As an amateur but enthusiastic gardener this place has it all; friendly advice, great selection of well tended plants, excellent planting ideas, huge selection of pots and other gardening stuff. Turned our front yard from blah to beautiful in no time!

A slice of horticultural heaven! Everyone was super nice and enthusiastic about plants. And the selection was amazing. The conifer and Japanese maple collections were particularly outstanding. Great selection of air plants too!

This place is incredible. Even if you’re not looking to purchase any plants, it’s just so much fun to wander around their beautiful shop and look at all the awesome plants. However, I can almost guarantee something is going to catch your eye and you won’t leave empty handed!My personal experience here was excellent. Zach was our garden guide who approached us and asked if we had any questions and I wish I could have just rented him for the day so I could just listen to him talk about plants! He was unbelievably helpful and far exceeded any expectations of what customer service should entail.At one point, the other staff even had some extra donuts on hand and offered them to us which is just a side note about how much fun we had just hanging out with their great employees.If you are even remotely interested in plants in the slightest, just swing by and check this place out. It’s unreal and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. You might even find a new passion for plants like I just renewed! Also, check out my awesome little plants I just bought this time I went. I was so very excited to explore this Garden facility. I arrived before they were officially open, so I asked if it was okay to walk around, and was told I could browse around in the meantime. Half way in, I was given attitude by a woman because I was in there before they officially opened. Needless to say, my sense of inner peace what shots and I left.

I genuinely loved this place. I loved it so much that I brought my grandmother to the garden center because she shares my interest in plants. She recently got a small service dog and wanted to bring him with on our visit today. I had a suspicion that they would not allow dogs so I called before we left for the garden center and asked the staff if service dogs were allowed. They confirmed, Of course service dogs are allowed so we go. When we got to the nursery, we were questioned and I reiterated that I had called before and confirmed that the service dog was allowed. One of the staff had the audacity to rudely ask my grandmother if she really needed a service dog and if her dog was actually a service dog. My grandmother is a small, fragile older woman and she has absolutely no reason to lie about this. This staff member was extremely rude and when we confirmed again that it was a service dog he rudely walked away. If they had said that dogs were not allowed on the phone we would not have brought the dog into the garden center and I would have done her shopping for her. This rude experience has changed my mind forever about this business. If you cant be kind to the elderly who require service animals then what kind of business are you?!

I like plants. They got em. Knowledgeable staff who take the time to let you know each plants care plan. There is almost too much stuff to sift through. The plant prices are reasonable. Some of the other stuff, fountains, planters, and incense, seems astronomical. 800 for a fountain, small plaster planter, 75, incense 15, while a larfe two panel wooden trellis is 35. Pick and choose what makes sense for you, and enjoy the great outdoors

Wow, a TARDIS awaits inside this amazing garden center! I could spend a whole day here. Extremely helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant staff. They even help drivers safely navigate the parking lot.

Went to three plant centers and this was by far my favorite. All their plants look so well taken care of and not overly priced. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Probably going to become my go to place especially being so close to home.

The people who work here are insanely rude and harass the hell out of people who “improperly” wear a mask (even when outside the whole time). The power trip is unreal. Take your business to Lurvey’s in Des Plaines - so much more space and inventory and KINDNESS. Would never ever go back to the worst customer service ever.

They have always been one of the Best garden centers in the city. Wether house plants or bedding plants their quality is unsurpassed. Good healthy plants. You may pay a little bit more than at other places but not the quality you get here. In the winter Beautiful 🎄 christmas trees. Also awesome gift shop.

Ive always loved this place! Great selection of plants with some standard varieties always available. Stock rotated regularly. Ive had to return only one in all these years. Staff are very helpful and patient with novices. All the plants in my home and office come from here and Im never disappointed with how well they do.They also have an impressive inventory of outdoor statuary, faux flowers, greenery, fall bulbs, decorative pots, soil, etc. If they dont have what you are looking for, just ask!

I came in with questions about my Bonsai tree. I received it as a gift for Christmas and had to do research and begin my journey.NOTE: Knowledge is learned and doesn’t just pop up in your head, you have to seek it.I heard this place could answer some questions so I drove over. I was greeted politely and the first two ladies were great. But the manager/owner insulted me multiple times by assuming I shouldn’t even be growing a bonsai without being what she called an “expert” or “artistic” even after I told her how I just started researching she replied again “But your not an expert”I’ll definitely return because the first two ladies were nice and my questions got answered but that other lady needs to adjust her tone towards ALL customers. I could assume if I looked like her relative she wouldn’t feel the need to judge my artistic abilities or even my knowledge of growing a plants but that’s irrelevant cause I obviously came in to learn more.

The plant inventory is huge and the plants are well taken care of.

My daughter & I are never disappointed by the quality & variety of plants here. Their customer service is the main reason why we return time & time again. After we’re done shopping, we enjoy just sitting and admiring the beauty of this nursery and watching how customers are treated.

They have a wide variety of plants, especially some harder to find varieties, and the staff is very helpful. The plants are healthy and they will help you choose the right options for your living or work space!

Purchased rose 3 days ago, as of next day, plants leaves turned yellow with black spots and keep falling off. As if today 1/8 of plant has yellow leaves with black spots. No returns. Apparently the plant is sick

Im glad this place is in the neighborhood! Every plant you can imagine, staff who know their stuff, and a great gift shop...also love the pond in the greenhouse with the massive koi.

They were very helpful over the phone and at the store. I purchased an obsidian rock wind chime at the gift center and its uniquely beautiful. Its a beautiful store full of quality merchandise both for gifts or for decoration.

I love this place! Their plants are beautiful, the staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and its just a lovely garden center. Theyve done a great job keeping staff and customers safe while they shop. Even if you arent a gardener, their greenhouse and boutique(when they open back up) are always worth a visit.

This is a wonderful garden center. I went today to get herbs to feed the Swallowtails Im raising. Everyone got so excited and was looking at the plants to see if they could find more eggs to send me home with. They are just great! No need to look any place else.
