We loved this store and its name. I am a big puzzle person and the selection of puzzles here was wonderful. There is something for everyone at this store young and old. I could have spent an hour just looking at all the items. Great place for a gift or shopping for a fun activity. The lady that was working at the time we went in was very friendly and helpful. We will be back when we are in that area again.
Love this gem of a store! It’s filled with so many puzzles, games, pop its, toys, and activities for your kiddos across ages. Plan enough time to browse all the shelves as there are tons of good games to keep you and your family entertained!
This is one of the best game shops that I have ever visited. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and their product selection is second to none. This is my go-to shop for buying materials for my Dungeons and Dragons games. This local business is 100 times better than any online store!
What a great store. I ordered online and got my shipment extremely quickly. I cant wait to visit next time I am in Chicago.
They have plenty of good board games here. Id definitely suggest coming here instead of buying them off Amazon and getting a cool patch to boot.
Love this place! So much better then any big box store - shop local, friends!
Love this place. They have tons of games and puzzles in stock and can order pretty much anything. They secured all the alternate maps of Power Grid for me. C&M for the win!
Very cool store and always a fun visit. Im a chess player (old school, I know) and this place has a nice selection of casual and competition boards and pieces. Went in recently just to pick up a backgammon set and was impressed at the quantity and variety. Plus its a great place to keep up to date on new and innovative games. Two thumbs up!
Fun store with lots of toys and games for literally all ages. They also have some pins, stickers, and other small pieces from local artists. Don’t miss the trading card lamp :)
Super cute little gem of a place. My friends and I just stumbled upon this place trying to get home from the wndr museum and we were so plesantly surprised! Huge selection of classic board games, newer games, DND supplies, kids toys, fidget toys, etc etc
Nice store, it just didnt have what I needed (magnets and/or magnet toys). Full of a lot of interesting games and puzzles though!
Cat & Mouse deserves to be on the list of Certified National Treasures (is that a thing? Lets make it a thing.). Their offerings are incredible. Their insight into what toys/games certain ages might like is vast. Their email communication is informative. The way theyve adapted to serve their customers in the middle of a pandemic is above and beyond the call of excellent service. Whether youre in the neighborhood or just passing through (or looking to ship! They do that, too!), Cat & Mouse is the place for you and for children of all ages.
Bought an awesome deck of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers playing cards here for a good price......actually, i bought two. Great store.
I wasnt greeted upon entering the store... I didnt feel appreciated as I shopped; the associates didnt ask me if I wanted help finding anything. They have a good assortment for a small store, though with the slightly higher prices-- hopefully they show customers more appreciation:)...
Cat & Mouse games is a fantastic store for buying puzzles. I stopped in before Christmas to bring a puzzle home for the family to tackle during the holidays. They have a wide selection providing many difficulty levels and a variety of art styles. I found a unique puzzle that I liked and the clerk even gift wrapped it for me.I was impressed at their knowledge of the different games as they answered questions for busy parents that were Christmas shopping. They were very kind and friendly. Seemed like a fun place to work or shop.
Love board games, and theyve got everything. They even advised me on the best dominion expansion for my play style and current expansions.
Fantastic games selection, great pricing, and they even had two alt cover van richtens guides, which I scoured the city looking for.
In my quest to support locally owned small businesses this Christmas I popped in to shop for some gifts here. The store itself was nice, well organized & had a decent variety. It was the curt attitude & general unfriendliness received from the staff that left me dismayed. The clerk was there as a rule enforcer as opposed to a customer service rep to help shape the experience. Its encounters like these that dont make me feel so bad shopping online at the big box conglomerates. Certainly not what I would expect from a Mom & Pop shop, I actually left the store immediately & will spend my money elsewhere where customers are still appreciated.
Really cute shop, filled to the brim with product. Not a lot of Magic the Gathering, but lots of really popular board games and D&D product
Such great and fun games/activities! Things for all ages, love it!
Most knowledgeable and easy to talk to game staff anywhere. Thank you for recommending Tiny Towns. A new family favorite. Game on!
Absolutely love this place. Ive been coming for years (back when they had the Armitage location). Back then, I knew nothing about tabletop. Over the years I built a decent collection thanks to their huge selection and helpfulness of the staff. Also doesnt hurt that the newsletters are cute.
Great customer service, really good selection!
The cutest local shop! So much stuff for kids and adults. TONS of really cool puzzles. Staff was very helpful and directed me to everything I was looking for.
I bought a very nice bingo game, the staff was very nice. I plan to go back, because they have so many nice things for kids.
Very nice staff and great selection.
Super helpful staff. Went in today with my kids and they were great and have so many fun options. Will go back again tho support their small business.
Unique collection of kids and adults games, toys, books and more!
This place is always a great one to visit. The staff are always friendly and helpful and they have all kinds of games. Puzzles, card games, rpg, board games and more. Basically any kind of game you are looking for they have here.
Love supporting an independently owned shop. They shipped the items quickly and the free gift wrapping was an amazing touch. Will shop here again.
I cant save it so Im giving 3 stars till I visit 😬
Such a cute store! Lots of puzzles and games, and even some choose your own adventure books like when I was a kid
It’s been over a month now - quarantined in a three room apartment in Philly. Getting tough - and we’ve been looking for new things to do.I ordered a puzzle from amazon three weeks ago. ArghhhhhhThen my daughter mentioned this store in Chicago and in about a week I had a new wonderful colorful puzzle.Support small business and you just may be pleasantly surprised !
Great selection, helpful, friendly staff.
NEARLY died in the cold waiting outside to be one of their 6 customers inside. They are counting babies as 1 customer. Completely ridiculous. Then they have like 4 employees inside. Way too many employee/customer ratio. I have severe anemia and cant wait outside like that.
One of the best games so I have been so far. They have a wide selection of board and card games which are well sorted and described. In addition, there is a large kids section with toys and games for all ages. The staff is super friendly and really gives the perfect advice when looking for a game. The so organizes kids events and board game nights. Check out their website.
Great people at a great store that celebrates everything in the world of board/tabletop gaming. I went in initially just to buy a couple gifts for a friend, and was instantly sucked into the huge selection of games and activities they have on offer. I was even informed of the events they host regularly for patrons to come in and play games together. If youre looking for a place with a wide selection of games and a community of like minded people, Cat & Mouse is a must visit
What a lovely place. They have all kinds of things... Check it out
Great store. There are a lot of hands-on games out the box for customer to try. Our children couldnt get enough. They have a great selection of board games, domestic and foreign. Many of them have staff description and recommendations that I found very useful. Lego sets, high quality puzzle, beautiful baby toys. Loads of unusual and fun small toys for goody bags. Amazing store.
Cat & Mouse was an awesome shop. They have a great selection of new games along with a selection of used games with condition and parts listed on the side. They also sell puzzles and a good selection of toys. If Im the area and this is your scene, definitely check it out!
I largely come here for the Dungeons and Dragons stuff, and while the D&D corner is a bit small, theres a great deal of variety! Theres extra large D20s, great for the vision impaired D&D player, a good number of paints for miniatures, metal dice, campaign books, miniatures for all classes and even uncommon monster miniatures like Shambling Mounds. I even managed to snag a Beholder from here! I regularly come here to see if I can get a new interesting mini to paint in the future. Staff here are always helpful and informative, and are very friendly.
Great selection for all ages and staff are friendly and helpful.Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance with a 10minute shopping time to allow for social distancing safely. Masks required of course.Online store available too
Fast and super easy online purchasing! I received my local delivery very quickly. I love this store and am happy to be able to support them during COVID-19. A million times better than giving my money to Jeff Bezos!!!
Excellent prices and fabulous selection. Loved how they had some for every age and interest. Incredibly friendly staff on top of it all, and truly beat or matched online prices from the get-go. Just excellent.
An amazing toy store! Their game selection is phenomenal!!! Entire store is stocked with high quality toys for all ages, with wide range of prices so there is something for everyone. Our go to place for birthday presents and the grandparents always insist on a visit when they are in town!
Love this family owned game store. Ive been in a few times now and theres always an employee who knows something about seemingly every game in the store. Theyve a massive selection of games and puzzles and toys including the more popular and fashionable games.
Great selection of games (which are very well organized by type) and friendly staff with helpful recommendations posted throughout the store. Some games sell out fast, so call ahead if you are looking for one in particular. Alternatively, you can order games to the store if you want. The sell-back program is a unique perk as well, I was able to get a good portion of money back on a game I was done with. On days when they have groups playing in the back it can get very crowded and feel understaffed, but otherwise this place has a great atmosphere.
This is west loops joyful secret! Its packed to the gills with games and toys for all ages and tastes. One of a handful of shops with an excellent selection of boardgames in stock and periodic discounts. The frequent buyer point system could be a little more competitive I believe. Besides that its a must visit, must explore, must leave with a bag full of goodies kind of store! Love it!
Cat & Mouse Games is a neighborhood gem. We try to make it in every few months to pick up a new board game or to just see whats new. They have a large selection of games and toys for all ages.
Knowledgeable staff. Great place.
This place has everything. I came in to get a few games for game night I host at my job and I received several great recommendations. The place is clean, well organized (despite the massive selection). Good place to shop for gifts.
Stopped in while visiting Chicago. What a gem. Helpful notes on shelves for picking games and an area in the back where you can borrow a game to play. Small, but thoughtfully stocked kids book section. Knowledgeable staff.
A good selection of games, toys, and books. The space is a little small but its bright and charming. Nothing over the top that invites kids to go crazy 🙃. Service is also good. Friendly people and not pushy and know how to engage with little kids.
Great place, and love supporting local. Is on the pricier side. Wish they had a take a puzzle leave a puzzle sort of thing for people to swap out already done puzzles. Or a sale section at least.
Cute board game and toy store with a solid selection of popular and obscure strategy games, plus a section for secondhand games. Although small, the store uses space efficiently and even spared room for game tables in the back.
Cat Mouse Games reminds you that in-person shopping can be far superior to online. We came in for jigsaw puzzles and not only did they have a huge variety, we end up ended up leaving with more than just puzzles because there were truly games for everyone. Also, ask Jessica for recommendations- she knows everything game and when you think youve found the perfect gift, shell recommend something even more perfect. We had a blast shopping here.
This place is a gem. Half of the store is devoted to board games, party games, and tabletop games; the other half to delightful children oriented games and toys. If you want a good 4-6 person party game that pairs well with cheap beers and late nights, Cat & Mouse got you covered. If you want a toy for your toddler that is educational, Cat & Mouse has you covered still. And if you absolutely dont know what to get someone as a gift, the staff knows hundreds of games and puzzles ad can help anyone find the exact perfect gift.
My husband bought a baseball game to play with our son today. It has a ball that is suppose to stick to the disks, which look like mitts. The ball doesnt stick, which renders the game pointless. My husband called to see if we could return it or get a store credit. They told my husband to call the manufacturer, they would not take the item back. This is terrible customer service, the store should stand behind the products it sells. We like to shop small, but will not buy toys at this place again. If this were Target, they wouldve just returned the item without question. I prefer Timeless Toys in Lincoln Square, but its not the most convenient. We have 15 nieces and nephews, we have always bought toys from here for gifts, but no more.
The staff was very knowledgeable about the board games for sale, more insight than I was expecting. Prices were reasonable versus other stores Ive seen. They even gift wrapped a present for me. Color me impressed
Magical place suitable for both children and adults. There are so many various board games you can wander for a long time and stumble across new ones. Lots of little toys and trinkets to look at. Nice to see displays about games to check out, or the most popular seller. Theres space for gamers to meet up, too.
The people that work here are so nice and helpful! There is a wide variety of games and toys here... truly something for everyone at every age!
This place is fantastic. While visiting my sister we stopped here and checked out the games. I didnt catch her name, but the individual who was working when we stopped in was extremely helpful and informative, and helped me successfully spend money on some games Im looking forward to cracking open.Selection of toys for kids was also quite nice. Highly recommended if youre in the area.
I love this store. The owners and staff are not only knowledgeable about their products, but so very welcoming. Theyre presence in our neighborhood has helped make the West Loop more of a community. We love coming by with the kids to play and pick up great toys.
The staff is welcoming and helpful and they offer a in store pick up option on their website so its easy to run in and out real quick with exactly what you want if you arent in the mood or have time to move around. They also offer gift wrapping, which makes this an easy spot to pick up a last second gift on your way to a social occasion.
Super friendly staff. Love the game library space in the back! Huge selection of games from party to puzzle to RPG.
Wonderful shop with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent inventory of games for all ages, toys and books for younger kids, and weekly gaming events for board gamers. Their board game selection represents all tastes and is well stocked. Two car spots up front make it easy to stop, shop, and go for last minute purchases. A++!!!
The selection and variety of games and puzzles is amazing. The service is also great; everyone has played many of the games and can give really good advice, recommendations, and answer questions well. One of my favorite stores to visit!
The staff clearly love and play the games they recommend and they gave some great suggestions. Walked away with a new favorite game!
This is an absolutely charming game store, stocked full of happy surprises. It absolutely brings back the childhood joy of surprise trips to the toy store. Theres so much to discover on their shelves that Im making it a regular stop whenever Im in Chicago.
I love cat and mouse, its a great game store. Im all about supporting local business, so I try to buy games here when I can. Sometimes it may not make sense though. Im happy to pay an extra few bucks to support a local business, but sometimes games can be found for 15 or 20 dollars cheaper online. When the difference is manageable Id much rather buy here, but sometimes thats not always the case.
Amazing store! I was speechless when I saw the variety of things. Im from Texas, so I cannot visit the store as much as I would love to. But I can say that this is one of the best Gaming stores that Ive seen.
Great choices decent prices. Very unique gifts. I love this place.
In an era of online ordering and advanced logistics, Cat and Mouse Games is an old school neighborhood gaming store. They have an amazing stock of games and toys for all ages, ranging from puzzles to Lego to dungeons and dragons and gloomhaven. But, more importantly they have friendly and knowledgeable staff that host fun and memorable events, which keep us coming in again and again.
One of the best game stores in Chicago! Friendly and welcoming staff, clean location, excellent selection of board games and rpgs.
Great hobby shop! Theyve got everything from Monopoly to Catan to D&D to Gaia Project. A good selection of puzzles and party games as well, and accessories for card and miniature gamers too. If youre looking for something for a young child, theyve got you covered as well. Plus, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Small and cozy. Great assortment and warm service. Very accessible.Just off the CTA stop.
One of the best game stores in the city. The staff is incredibly helpful and always cheery.
Cute store, great selection of toys, very helpful staff. Nice selection of jigsaw puzzles.
Great store, knowledgeable staff. Prices are pretty much MSRP with few sales but a lot of hosted activities. Great place to get some advice and pick up a kids birthday gift!
Great selection of toys and games for grownups and kids. Lots of weekly events for little ones and their parents. Many of the childrens toys are natural and eco-friendly. There is also a wide selection of kids books. I will definitely shop there again soon.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great selection. You can play test many games in store. Kid friendly. Hosts lots of board game meetups and offer some events and classes of their own. A family favorite!
Cat & Mouse is the best spot in the West Loop to see the latest toys, buy a present, or play some games. The staff truly love gaming and are excited to introduce people to everything the store has to offer. They also do a great job organizing regular gaming events.
Great selection and the staff is so helpful in making sure you pick the right game. Highly recommended!
Great neighborhood store. Kids love the selection of toys. Very friendly staff.
Games for kids and adults. I couldnt find catan cities and knights but they had the expansion pack for it. They have puzzles ranging from giant kids pieces to an 18000 piece puzzle for the adventurous person. Theres a small section for the Lego lovers.Seems like a great community presence. They have game tables in the back of the store and they have posted events you can attend!Parking on the street is pay to park in some spots, but if you get lucky you might find free parking though.
Great little shop! Welcoming with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Everything from MTG to educational toys for tots. Even helped us tourists find a fab dinner stop after shopping.
Quintessential game store. Great, super friendly staff. Very good prices
Huge selection. Knowledgeable staff. Helpful for gifts
My husband and I know very little about kids, but we do have a niece and nephew who we love and sometimes require presents, as kids do. I also have a growing interest in jigsaw puzzles, and this place has a bunch of great manufacturers in stock. So whenever there is an event like birthday or holiday coming up, we come here, describe the kids current interests, and the woman helping us has found the perfect gifts! My sister said my niece loves her new book so much that she has been asking to go to the library to do more research! This past busy Christmas, this was a one-stop-shop for gifts for my whole family. Not only did the lady help find the gifts for kids and adults, she then wrapped and shipped them for us! It took a lot of stress off a difficult holiday time. Also, puzzle section recently re-upped so I have many reasons to return.
One of the best game stores in the city. The ladies and help you find any age group you are looking for. There is also a game library that you can rent games from. Lovvvvve this place.
Go! Find your inner child! Games and puzzles galore! The staff is so ready to help teach you a new product. We spent tons of time just looking around but was never rushed to make any decisions.
This is a great place for all types of games. My niece and her boyfried were visiting from The Netherlands and found this place online. We walked in and they were very impressed. I enjoyed looking around, too and we each found something to our liking to purchase.
This place was awesome! Great for kids and adults alike. Their selection of games is amazing and theres also fun things to see wherever you look. The workers were very friendly!
Terrible. Our nanny took our 8 month old daughter and our friends 7 month old daughter to story time. One the employees was incredibly rude to her and wouldnt let her bring in a double stroller and made her carry in both our babies. When our nanny wasnt able to do that so she asked the employee again and her response was, thats your problem. We understand that it was busy, but thats no way to treat someone. I hope in the future that they learn to be better people.
One of my favorite places in Chicago! A top location for gifts, games, toys, and board games of all ages
A gem. The staff is great, and everyone is always willing to help recommend games for myself and friends or for gifts - whether for parents, friends, or kids. Great selection. I do wish they had a larger area to accommodate coming in to play games, but they do seem to put on some programs that really appeal to the groups that are invited.
Its an adorable mom and pop toy and game store. They kind of reminded me of those toy stores of the 80s and 90s. A quarter of the store dedicated to puzzles, a quarter to RPGs and CCGs and half classic kids toys. They had a really nice play space too for board games.Everything is brightly colored and there is a really nice mix of accessories and systems in the rpg section.Board games are organized by type of board game. Its just a really pleasant location to visit and support. They do carry modules, rules, and the dice for Dungeon Crawl Classics and Mutant Crawl Classics!
