The building and experience was nice, but when I went to find harmonica music there was not 1 sheet in the store. The website lists 114 harmonica books. The young man asked another colleague to make sure he wasn’t overlooking it, and he said “Yeah, I need to order some”. I realize harmonica may not be the core business, but it was disappointing
I love the staff and location! Elevator ride on the way is a plus, as well :)They have always been willing to help me find the best option for music I need and located numerous hard-to-find scores. Shop local!!
Wonderful sheet music shop. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. As a pianist/violist/percussionist, it felt like home.
Its great to see this place open during the pandemic for those of us that enjoy browsing. Of course they also have sheet music and books available online. When I was at Columbia College last century, this was a fairly regular stop. Nice people, good inventory, impressive clientele.Put on your mask and take a ride, in the last elevator in Chicago with a live operator, to the ninth floor. Its worth it.Parking at The Hyatt is $5.
Always great here. I love looking at music in a store. Its unfortunately a rarity...
I have been a Performers Music customer since it opened in 1981. Performers Music stands superb in knowledge and customer service. Lee Newcomer, the owner and manager, knows virtually everything about classical and sheet music, his expertise will help you find the best publication to meet your needs and budget.Lee and his staff have long-term relationships with the publishing/distribution companies. If music is still in print, Performers Music can find it for you. When you walk into the store, you will be asked if there is anything you need help in finding. If you are just browsing, you will be left to do so at your leisure – you will never feel pressured to buy anything. I browse each time I visit and have found sheet music treasures, such as works by local composers and orchestral study scores. You should stop by and see what you can find for yourself, or place an order at the website. You can also call the store with questions and/or to place an order. Chicago is fortunate to have Performers Music. There is no comparison!
The best source for printed sheet in Chicago. Worth it just to go in the Fine Arts Building.
I am a piano student, and I buy my sheet music here every now and then. The people who work here are very kind and are always willing to help me with finding the sheet music editions that I need! Definitely recommend.
Fantastic “old school” Classical music shop, with a brilliant selection. The building itself and the elevator ride worth the trip. Couldn’t be happier that such a place exists still. Long may it flourish
Wonderfully helpful staff. I always find what Im looking for.
Very cool little store in an absolutely gorgeous building
The best place in the city to find the music you need
I have been patronizing Performers Music for over two decades. Lee and his entire staff consistently outperform my expectations. If you ever need sheet music of any kind, Performers will stop at nothing to get it for you, and as quickly as possible. Great job, Performers!!!!
Lovely people with a great stock of sheet music. Not going to find many pop charts, though. Also wonderful rehearsal studios wit at a GREAT price!!!
Great selection. Many hard to find products avaliable. Staff friendly and helpful. Cant find something? They try to order it for you!
Such a beautiful building! Tell the elevator operator to go to the 9th floor. Very helpful employees and a relaxed/cozy atmosphere.
Love this place. I was in desperate need for some trumpet valve oil. They had several choices, including my favorite!
They had what I needed and I was offered other related services and materials.
Nice, welcoming, well organized, in the loop, historic building, helpful staff. 6 Stars
Wonderful selection, friendly staff!
Really love their practice room!
