I had such a great experience with Tamago! He helped me with everything I needed, sparked wonderful conversation, and even gave me a baguette to take home after my bikes diagnosis session. He took my semi-dead, bad crank, torn brakes, squeeking chain bicycle and after his service it purred like a kitten. Forgot to take my loaf of bread though. The speed crank was replaced and added new handles (which I really didnt expect). Overall a great experience. The only issue is that it is open only 12-5.

This place is amazing and surpassed all my expectations! I came in with a bike that needed lots of work, and the mechanic was able to get it all done that same day. The quality of the repairs was excellent, the price was extremely fair, and I even got a free loaf of delicious slow-fermentation sourdough bread when I got my bike back. I highly recommend! !

Absolutely amazing knowledgeable staff and service. Ive never had someone glance at my bike and know its make, model, year, size, wheel size...and not been condescending at all about it (which as a woman in the bike scene is, sadly, a relatively novel experience). Free donuts too!

Great place. I came in just to get a tire fixed and had no expectations. Owner was so friendly and nice, service was fast, price was totally reasonable, and came with a delicious doughnut. Seemed like a fantastic shop: beautiful custom road bikes for the higher-end customer, fast repairs when you need them, and baked goods. Instantly became my first stop for bike needs.

I enjoyed drinking coffee at this shop. As an avid cyclist is very rare to find a shop where you can drink coffee and also have your bike repaired or be surrounded by bikes. The owner was awesome and very conversational. I enjoy finding new coffee shops in Chicago and Ill definitely be back when Im in the neighborhood.

I didnt have a, bicycle to repair, but I was drawn in to this bicycle repair shop by the donuts in the window. The owner is amazingly nice and spent half an hour talking to me about the neighborhood and the University. So - I cannot speak directly as to his bicycle repair skills, but in my experience anyone who cares enough to spend time talking to a stranger, will care enough to do a really good job fixing your bike.

Mechanic whose passion to go above and beyond is prevalent in his work. I came in to replace my rear tire and he did so in a timely manner and also fixed my bag rack without me mentioning it! Also got a loaf of bread while I was there :P

I highly recommend this bike shop to any cyclist. My bike was in absolutely terrible shape after a long winter (to give you an idea, the chain was rusted into a single immobile unit). I brought it into Tamago Bikes and for the price of a commute tune-up and a few part replacements, it is now running perfectly. They were also deliberate in only replacing parts if absolutely necessary - to lower the cost for me. All other parts were cleaned and reconditioned rather than replaced. The owner/mechanic is kind, patient, honest and incredibly thorough. Every quality you want in a mechanic. Plus the shop has this cool, homey vibe - it is a great place just to hang out.
