I absolutely love this shop. The people are super laid back but work quickly! Ive been in twice: once to purchase my bike and another time to have a new tube installed due to a flat. The first time, they made sure that the bike fit me properly, allowing me to test ride it with each adjustment. Upon my second visit, I was out within 15 minutes and charged just $6 for the tube replacement (if you buy a bike there, you get 6 months of free labor). For a city bike shop, their prices are fair and staff are kind. I highly recommend this shop to anyone in the area!
Had issues with my gear shift. Took it in for a derailer tune up. Got a call back after leaving it at the shop with a few more issues on the drive train set up. Informed me of all and got down to it. Came back to see they had re-rapped.my bars because there was an internal issue and fixed that too. Great quality and customer service
Anthony & crew hooked it up! They took my stripped bike (only a frame & wheels) & converted the bottom bracket, upgraded the gears, replaced all the hardware & put on new handles & seat in 2 hours for $250! Thanks, Ciclo, for not being a snobby, douchey bike shop like so many others out there. If you want a good group of bike experts to educate you & build/repair your bike without feeling like an idiot - go here! Ill be taking all my bikes here from now on!
Fantastic service and love the used bike selection.
Great place! Highly recommend
I went into this shop, first workers not wearing 😷 MASK, went to buy two tires for my cruiser bike 40.00, asked guy how much to install the two tires he says, $10.00 then all of a sudden one of my inner tube don’t fit, on my tires lmaoff, so I bought another, needed a spare anyways, $6.00, Then at check out, I asked to include my tax exempt, he tell me THEY DO NOT DO tax exempt for business, ok I asked for a manager or owner, THEY don’t have one at all! YA RIGHT! price of $76.00 that is without tax, then I asked what?? it should be 56.00 he turns around tells me his charging $20.00 for putting in new tires ! Mind you I bought it from them !, I told him dude you said $10.00 to install both tires, he then says! I’ll take the tires off, I told him go ahead ! because you said $10.00 to install the two tires, it don’t make no sense for me to wait here 40 minutes, then cause you, quoted the installation wrong, now you taking the tires off, One of the guys decided to leave them on and said don’t charge her! I told him I have no problem paying what he quoted ! He should not change the price after installation ! As I left, my bike started making a rattling sound in the front tires, I took it back RIGHT away, because my bike did not make that noise, when it came in the shop !, the guy comes out and says it’s your wheel hub, that’s fifteen dollars to fix, I told him excuse me my tire was not making that noise, When I brought it here to replace tires! I just left 10 minutes ago, and instead them fixing it, cause he knowledge that it was not making the noise, Cause they check your bike ! he wants to still charge $15.00 for DAMGED that occurred at they’re shop ! Also, they dropped my bike frame off the bike rack, hit the floor hard and I had just told him to be careful not to drop my bike 1 minute later frame it’s the floor, not only they refuse to fix my bike claiming, I damaged it !in the five minute bike ride back to their shop ! Are you kidding me ! Horrible ! I told them I will see them in court for Damaging my bike ! I went to the bike shop, I purchased my bike, so they can repair it give me a bill so I can attached it to my complaint to the city and my motion, the guy at international tell’s me ITS NOT THE HUB, they LEFT THE RIM LOOSE and I showed them the inner tube that supposedly came with my bike originally, international said that inner tube could of FIT that new tire ! So, this is the bottom line !! BEWARE OF THIS SHOP ! They will charge you for repairs that are not needed and sell you things you do not need ! I DO NOT KNOW, if it’s because I am a woman ! But, be careful when you shop here ! ALSO, bad customer service, when it comes to making customers happy ! If, you know someone’s bike was not rattling, when it came in, then take responsibility and find out what you did wrong ! Not throw it to the customer, to get money off them! Supposedly, the guy says there non profit my butt! You get donated bikes and still trying to steal from the public, by over charging for things that are not needed Horrible ! BEWARE FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR BIKE, DO NOT TRUST THEM TO TELL YOU! Also, made my reports to the better business bureau! BEWARE LADIES! EVERYONE. This is not the same place it use to be back in the days, when, they first opened, Latinos and community kids! Smh. Scammers !
I love this shop. Theyre helpful, quick, and knowledgeable - not to mention the prices are insane! Theyve been in the neighborhood forever, and Im so glad theyre sticking around.
These guys are the absolute best! If you dont understand something about a bike they help you out. They know bikes as it is their lives. Support this great shop because of also what they do with youth.
I went there to get a wheel fixed yesterday. They did the job fine, but NO ONE ON THE STAFF IS WEARING A MASK in this enclosed space. As a customer, I did not feel safe in there. I certainly wont be back at least until after the pandemic is over in a few years.
Excellent service & prices! Ciclo Urbano is buzzing with activity and a friendly atmosphere. I was able to get my bike repaired and save some money.I decided to ride my mountain bike on a trail for the first time this summer. Unfortunately, I got stranded with a non working bike in the middle of a forest with mosquitoes voraciously attacking me and deer feeding on grass in the background. Fortunately, I was able to walk back to civilization and have a family member give me a ride back to my car. The next day I was determined to get my bike fixed, so that I could use it before the good weather passes me by. The rear wheel on my bike wasnt moving when I moved the front pedals. I did some research on the internet and found out it had something to do with the rear hub assembly. There were several videos on YouTube were mechanics were servicing the free hub cartridge of the rear hub. However, when I went to Performance & two Kozys bike stores the mechanics told me the rear hub couldnt be serviced and that I had to buy a new wheel for $90, chain for $20 and rear sprocket cassette for about $40. My bike is a 16 year old Trek 820, so I didnt want to spend close to $200 for the repair.Luckily, I came across Ciclo Urbano while doing a search for bicycle repairs and used bikes on Google. As soon As I brought my bike and explained my problem, Jean Carlos & Felix knew what was causing my problem. They showed me the Shimano free hub cassette replacement part; and I gave them the ok to replace the part. Jean Carlos replaced the part within 30 minutes. He did what three other so called professional shop mechanics said was impossible or too time consuming. He let me watch him while he worked and answered a lot of my questions. You could tell he loves what hes doing. He also replaced my rear shifter cable, replaced my chain and adjusted my brakes for much less than my previous estimates. The store and bike shop have a friendly vibe and you could sense the camaraderie among the young mechanics. I love the fact that West Town Bikes and its store Ciclo Urbano support the youth of the community by teaching them bicycle repairs with their workshops. Its nice to see a business that supports the community instead of corporate greed. I will definitely return to Ciclo Urbano for any future repairs and purchases.
Got a fair price on a used bike! The staff installed a kickstand on our purchase before we left too at our request. Will come back for any maintenance needs.
Excellent service and friendly staff. They trued my bike wheel and its perfect now, thanks!
Bought a used bike and refused to make repairs. Literally first time using the bike and wanted my to pay for repairs. Might be an OK shop for service, but stay away from purchasing a bike here.
Went in here with a friend, she wanted to get her bike seat height adjusted. The guy who ended up helping us said almost nothing the entire time he was fixing the seat. Also, he just lowered it and gestured for my friend to take the bike away. I had to be the one to say, why dont you get up on the seat and see if actually fits you know. The guy lowered it too far, but my friend was too polite to say anything because we wanted to get out of there, weird vibes. Very strange that the guy didnt help her find the right height for the seat. He was kind of rude. Definitely do not want to go back in there
Love these guys! Got two quick repairs back to back. Great value and these guys are friendly af. Will be back. Highly recommend.
No complaintseverybody is polite and helpfulits my local bike shopfive stars
I went hear to get my flat changed. Got it done. Drove about a couple of miles and then my tire went flat again. Called them up to let them know what happened. They said, most probably I should have bought a new tire cause, my tire might have had glass in it. It would have been nice to know, while I was getting my flat changed. I don’t blame them for the flat, I do however blame them for not telling me something was damaged on the bike (my tire), if that’s what the saw. Should be more pro active in letting customers know all that is needed to get done... while I they are there, not after the fact.
Carlos was efficient and helped numerous people. He should be acknowledged .The staff was nice to and polite
Great staff! Love that they are a not for profit and work with teens!
Awesome people.
Very bad customer service. Walked in and no one greeted us or asked if we needed help. We stood their waiting for them for about 10 minutes. Other couple walked in after us and they were offered assistance right away while we were still standing waiting. Staff ignores you while they continue workinG on their own things. Would give 0 stars if possible.
The best place to try, and buy a bike in Chicago ;) They are a great team, people around seem to like their fun spirit. I chose a new bicycle for my daily working travels. After a while I noticed a problem and I went back to the store. They fixed it for free. Ive never had such a good bike, Im so satisfied with it. So even if the price was high, the quality of service that you can expect in a neibourhood store is here !
I love these guys. I wont take my bike anywhere else.
I went to this bike shop not knowing who they are. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. They didnt push any sales onto me, and were very helpful and honest about their products. They spent plenty of time with me trying to figure out the perfect bike. I would highly recommend this shop. They are professionals who know what they are doing. The whole non-profit side of the shop is a great idea too. Stop by and see what they are about!!
I am currently in the market for a bike. I read the reviews on this place, and I thought I would stop by to see if they can offer me any service. I walked in, no one said hi, just one second. How are you?. Or even looked at me. Regardless I figured they were all busy, so I started to look around until someone could assist me. No one! And I mean no one! Acknowledged that I was there. I saw the prices, an even thought they are decently price I knew I could get a better service and a deal at a different non profit resale. I was only in the store maybe 5 minutes until I left, without purchasing a bike.edit:Thank you Michael for getting back to me. I appreciate you taking the time to acknowledge my concern. I fortunately purchased a bike from a different retailer. But knowing that you have taken the time to address an issue I had, is reassuring and hopefully if I have any questions or concerns with my bike I can come to you for assistance.
They are great help in time of need year round 365days of the year..
You gotta love a bike shop that says theyre there to provide affordable, reliable transportation to the Humboldt Park neighborhood. These guys rock. Theyre fast, theyre not overpriced, they know what theyre doing, and they wont look down their nose at me because I ride a bike I got for $100 on Craigslist. Plus, they host the open shops at West Town Bikes -- a truly great environment to learn how to take care of your bike.
The people make the difference. These mechanics are highly skilled, and will never be pretentious or rude, no matter your level of biking experience. They are also deeply involved in serving the community, engaging with area youth through WestTown Bikes.
They were really fast and professional. Great price and they helped me right away. Best bike shop in Wicker Park!
Jose and his crew take good care of the customers...5 stars !!!
Folks at Ciclo Urbano are very helpful and a shop to serve as an example. Service is thorough and they offer good advice too. Everyone Ive talked with has a good attitude. They impress from every angle.
They put my daughters bike together right out the box and I believe they did a great job with it. I will going here from now on.
Awesome bike store, super fast service on spot, very reasonable prices, knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. it is now my number 1 go to bike store!
My wife and I have both taken our bikes in for tune-ups/repairs, and every time we have been treated with great customer service and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. The bike techs really know their stuff, and the prices for service are incredibly reasonable.
These people don’t know a thing about customer service. Very rude everyone ignores you as soon as you step in the door. No one asks if you need help.
Great service! They are always welcoming and look out for my best interest when I need help.
Dope shop! Everyone is really cool and knowledgeable and doing great things for the community!
