This was Our experience at the U-Haul store today on south boulevard!! We walked in with 2 other customers waiting. We thought our experience may take a while! Then Keith Washington walked in!!! Within minutes he had helped all 3 customers in the store at the same time with incredible customer service and even helped someone take a heavy pack of boxes to their car. We were blown away by his amazing multi- tasking skills we dubbed him the Task Master! Thank you so much Keith for your service! We appreciate all that you do! You made our experience very enjoyable!
I booked a 26’’, 1 dolly and 4 dozen blankets.Got the truck drove off and when I got home no dolly or blankets, called National CS as the store never picks up. They said they wouldn’t charge and thats the best they could do. I turn the truck today and tell the same guy who gave me the keys not to charge me because they did not give me dolly and blankets and he says OK. I get the bill and I am being charged $50 for dolly and blankets.Management/staff that is running this store are incompetent and should find other jobs that requires less attention to detail as their incompetence makes lives of other people worse !U-Haul give me the $50 back please!
This location is great! The owner I believe his name was Keith was great. I had a issue on my end where I had to cancel my order and he tried to help me with a solution. Long story short, he took care of me. No headache or issues.
Ordered a hitch, wiring harness and installation. $327. Confirmation of order and installation-date and time. Have to drop off the vehicle. Fine. Have a deadline for moving and trailer rental. Show up after making arrangements for transportation and am told they dont have the part and dont know when they will have it. Called the 800 number and they found the part 60 miles away and at this point are suggesting that I go pick up the part, bring it to the store I was originally scheduled for IF they the 60 mile away store will honor my order and payment, allow me to get the part, and IF the local store can still do the installation before my deadline (another Uhaul reservation). At this point, I do not have what I have paid for, nor was it installed when I was told, there is no part available AND, customer service was pathetic in that despite all the confirmations, no one ever called me to say that they are having difficulty getting parts and there was no guarantee I could get what I ordered for the time I reserved the installation. Very poor customer service.If they can rectify the problem, I will come back and edit my review. Ive done that before. At this point, buyer be ware.Follow up; had to buy hitch from online automotive supplier and install myself. Took an hour with help from a friend. Received a $50 credit toward my rental and full refund on the hitch from U-Haul. Had to make a return trip to the store to get the credit appropriately applied. Customer services phone #s are a joke. You can’t call the store without getting routed to a nationwide CS rabbit hole.I’ll bump up to 2 stars because of the $50 credit but it was all around a big headache in dealing with them.
This place has a lot of trucks to choose from and they got me on my way as quickly as possible. When returning the truck all I had to was park it under the canopy and it was checked in almost immediately. Ive had some issues with other uhauls in the area so i think its important to point out this location did extremely well. This is where i rent my trucks from now on, Good Job.
I picked up the truck at 2.45pm.At 6pm I started packing and loading the truck, meanwhile a thunderstorm reached the city of Charlotte. We noted that a huge amount of water was leaking thru the roof. At that moment we noted a huge opening on the trucks roof. A lack of respect to deliver a truck in such condition. I had 2 helpers that I had to pay extra 300 dollars due to the waiting time for the rain to stop. I contacted the customer service number and took 1.5h to talk to someone. After that, the proposed road side assistance would take additional 1.5h, meaning a total of 3h to wait for help. A total lack of customer service empathy.I decided to cancel the road side assistance and wait the rain to stop and pay the extra cost to the movers.Meanwhile, I just received my credit card charge like nothing happed. The greatest joke.Please inspect the roof of your truck next time you rent.
Great customer service at this location. I ordered a uhaul trailer that was to large for my car and Keith stepped in to recommend the proper trailer for my car. They installed the trailer hitch on my car at low cost. The young man who checked me out explained/showed me how to hook the trailer on and let me know I could reach out if there were any issues on my drive. I appreciate this team for helping me with my move.
Rented a U-Haul trailer from here for a week. Super helpful on getting it hitched unto the truck and making sure everything worked properly. Had dropped it off at a different location which had tried to charge me a wrong destination fee. The fee was being charged in error. Sam at this location was able to help resolve the issue.
Keith Washington was amazing, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He went out of his way to assist us during our visit. I generally do not leave reviews, but with his level of customer services, I felt it absolutely necessary to let others know.
Only drawback was that I had to turn in the truck at 6amOther than that 5/5 stars for me here

Honestly didnt want to deal with people with the Covid-19 going on but U-Haul assigned me one of the 15 trucks this location had on site that happened to be buried behind another truck so I had to deal with humans anyway...that part of the experience was great everyone was very nice and friendly, return was simple online, nice young lady came out to check to see if the return was going ok and that was nice! overall piece of cake renting, good people!
Kudos to Keith and especially Sultann for re-wiring my vehicle and outfitting it with a 7-blade connection and brake controller. I had taken it to another U-haul on Independence and apparently all the wiring was wrong and caused an electrical fire in the trailer I was pulling. I turned my head lights on and the trailer brakes locked up! Melted wires in my vehicle. Not good, not safe. Sultann worked on it for 3 hours fixing someone elses mistake and I cant thank him enough.
Keith could not have been more helpful in both selecting the right moving supplies as well as helping us get the boxes into our car. Couldn’t be happier with our experience!Thanks Keith!
Had a great experience here at the South Blvd Uhaul. I was greeted by Kathy who was working with a customer service call, but she still clearly explained the terms to me and got me set up in no time despite being busy. I had to put in a service request to roadside assistance for a minor problem once I arrived at my stop, but Keith from the store reached out to suggest a solution and I was able to make it back to the store to return the van. Both employees went above and beyond to make everything easy and manageable for me. Will definitely come back when I move homes in a couple months. Thank you!
My girlfriend and I recently moved to the city of Charlotte from Massachusetts and decided to use U-haul boxes because we believed the quality of service and price presented by U-haul was unparalleled. However, our experience with U-haul Moving and Storage at South Blvd was extremely disappointing. We confirmed multiple times with the South Blvd location directly that our boxes would be available on Sunday when we arrived in Charlotte. We even received a confirmation that they would ready to be delivered that day. Yet when we were an hour away from the city (after driving for 12 hours that day) we were told that the fork lift operator was on vacation and we would be without or stuff for two days. Not only was living in an empty apartment for 2 days extremely unpleasant but we were forced to buy temporary sleeping arrangements. Unless U-haul changes their customer experience I will not be using U-haul in the near future.
Ordered hitch installation 1 week ahead. On the day I suppose to go, I called ahead to make sure its good. They told me they dont have the part yet and there was no ETA. They said they are going to check with the part right now and call me back. I havent receive a single update thru email or phone.Everytime I call them its 20 mins wait time and the one pick up the phone is not this location and they dont know anything about the status.
This is in my opinion one of these best in the nation the staff is very helpful and the facility is very well maintained. I reccomend them to family and friends.

Everyone was super friendly during my visit. The manager was very helpful and walked me through the process of renting a timely truck. Staff members asked if I needed additional merchandise and made me feel appreciated as a customer, despite being extremely busy. If you ever have to rent PLEASE go to this location. Keith is the MVP of my relocation to Charlotte. My experience picking up our Uhaul from another location in another city was less than desirable. The move itself was complicated and ended up costing way more than expected from other vendors. Our “help” with loading and unloading bailed at the last minute so downloading took longer than expected. We called Keith and he helped us out with the extension of the truck. He was wonderful! Great customer service. Reduced the stress of moving for us where all other vendors just seemed to add more. Highly recommend.
I just want to say a big thanks you to MR.Keithhe did a great job in my time of needhe went above and beyond to help me out with my situation and I also noticed that I wasnt the only one as I was visiting the establishment I noticed that he carried himself very professionally and was also helping other customers take boxes to the car other places just watch u struggle with items but not him he was great and I will definitely be coming back to this great establishment and let everyone else know that this one is the one to come to for gre at service
I use U-Haul pretty regular. The reason for 4 star is because you can not call this store directly. I dropped off my SUV to get a hitch and they were suppose to text me when it was finished-no text after 6 hours-I called and get call center who has to send a message to store to call me. I finally just show up and my vehicle had been done for hours! For this reason I will no longer deal with this store. Note to Owner of this store: None of this was the fault of the employee on duty, all of it was the fault of the person who scheduled one individual to do 3 jobs. Ridiculous to have 1 person doing everything in the mornings with a store full of people!
The manager Keith was THE best with making my transaction as smooth as possible.Overall everyone who works there has great customer service skills. And great professionalism.

Wanted to share positive experience at this store today that stemmed from a mistake that I made. I rented the wrong trailer for a project I had. Came back and wanted to rent another improper trailer for my project, but Management wouldnt rent that type of trailer for what I wanted to use it for. Glad to see people doing business the correct way. To top it all off I wasnt charged rental for my initial mistake. I will be back.Glenn
Poor customer service, long wait times, and both times I used a uhaul from this facility the truck had issues. I would not recommend to anyone.
Rented a U-Haul from the south blvd location to load some equipment home, apx 4.3 miles away. I was expecting to pay around $30 for services due to their ad online promoting $20 truck rentals. Nope. Returned the truck a few hours later and they charged me $89 claiming that I drove 80 miles from the time I picked it up. Absolutely ridiculous!! Either they are incompetent or deliberately trying to screw people over. Regardless I will not do business with this location again.
They will try to scam you for fuel surcharges even if you return the truck at or above the level it was provided to you. They do NOT do an inspection with you when you return the truck, they make a determination after you leave so you have no way to defend yourself. TAKE PHOTOS. LOTS OF THEM!

I was very unhappy to discover additional charges on my credit card, which I had already called to discuss and was told they’d be removed. Needless to say, it’s days later and still nothing. When you return the vehicle pay EXTRA attention to the gas gauge and take extensive photos detailing that it’s been returned in the requested condition. I did that, yet I’m being charged $14 for gas despite the vehicle not needing it. Protect yourself.
The GM, Taheem, knows customer service. When hes not around, its all hell! Specifically the taller African American woman with braids. Shes usually sporting Rastafarian beads and a very unenthusiastic face. She nearly made me walk out because of her rude, and disrespectful behavior. Shes the type that acts if shes too good for her job, and if youre doing business there, shes doing you a favor. Mumbled speech and lethargic attitude, gives you the sense she doesnt want you there. Ive already contacted corporate about this individual. This entire business would be more successful if she was terminated. She gives kind, hard working individuals, such as Taheem, a tarnished reputation.
Probably the worst place I’ve ever been too. Stood in line for 30 minutes and the girl that finally helped us once it rained pigs, had headphones in one ear listening to music on the job. Told us that wasn’t where our reservation was and gave us an address where “we had our reservations” and it was 12 miles away and was literally a farm land. Nothing was there. No such address. Extremely disappointed. Also the call ahead number was no answer. We tried to go look for it.
Rented a truck from this store yesterday and Manager printed contact out before going to the truck. We surveyed the truck and the gas on on 1/4 tank of gas and Manager said bring it back the same way. I return the truck last night and now they are charging me what was originally $45.00 for 6 hours now is $174.00 for fuel and other bull... I was suppose to rent something from them next week that’s not going to happen. I’ll never do business with them again and will definitely make sure none of my friends or family does either... #Rip-off
Horrible service!They have no honor they charged me double the amount for the miles. I only made one short trip and I knew the miles I was using and they still charge way more miles than what I used. I am so disappointed I cant believe people have no honor! I definitely would not recommend this place.
I love my hitch and bike rack. Wonder why others are so expensive? Dunno, but I found a great deal at UHaul. It was speedy fast too. Now I can tear up the streets of South Charlotte!

Have tried calling their phone for days on end with no answer and long winded recordings which never switch to a human. Have tried at multiple times of day and still the same situation. What gives?!
BEWARE! This location charges extra rental days. I turned in a trailer (a day early) and a week later was charged for extra time on the rental. They said they would refund it but it never happened. Finally had to dispute the charge with my bank after calling and emailing them multiple times. Check out other reviews that have had the same issue - Dont rent or use the storage here!
It seems only negative reviews get written, but I had a one-day truck reservation for a Saturday. I went in at the scheduled time and waited briefly in line. As soon as the customer before me was finished (which did not take long), I was assisted with professional service. My truck was ready, the man helping me was efficient, polite, and helpful, and I was in and out in about 15 minutes. The truck was in good condition and all prepared for me, and was reasonably priced for a one-day rental. The only thing that prevented me from giving it a 5-star was that they did not have a furniture dolly available that I had requested. ...But they sold me one at a reasonable rate. Ive typically used Penske trucks for my moving, but this one was simple and smooth.

Bad customer service. ..especially the mgr...he should not be a general mgr..they charged my card twice it took me 3 hours to find out why..I would never use one of there trucks again I will rather carry it on back...my I add this is the second time it happened they should be shut down, and I call corporate in spoke with a Jr perez when I called them back no one knew who he was...just a bad experience to go through at 9 months pregnant
I was in town because of huracanes Irma. out five of ten places I needed a hitch installed in my camry this was the only place able to do it. Got here and an hour later my car was ready. Excellent service!
Online Drop off instructions were incorrect. The key drop off was confusing with hand drawn arrow mark pointing to a non existent drop off box. The actual process of reservation and pickup was a breeze. I would recommend this business.
Came in earlier to rent a trailer and were met by an extremely attentive and friendly owner who really made our experience great. When we left, my girlfriend and II bot agreed that this would be a great place to rent from in the future.. However, when we came back to return the trailer, there was a row of empty trucks backed out to the road where equipment return was. So we drove around to the side. When I got out out of my car, the attendant angrily told me that we should have stopped and that it would be awhile. She proceeded to completely clean out trucks ahead of us (with noone in them) before accepting our return so we had to go inside to ask for someone else to help. Not great customer service after the owner left so im not sure if wed ever go back to this location.
This was the best customer service Ive ever experienced at a Uhaul, and Ive moved A LOT!Taheem is amazing! He was very professional. I was incredibly impressed with his calm, cool demeanor while multitasking on a busy Saturday morning. He runs the place effortlessly - leading his team to turn out vehicles and get customers on their way.I had a hiccup in my reservation and Taheem checked alternatives and got a resolution within minutes (he also did this with another customer in line before me!).

The worst customer service ever. I was waiting for my friend who was inside shopping and their employee came speeding around the corner and missed hitting my brand new parked car by maybe an inch, then she had the nerve to start screaming at me that I needed to get out of her way. Since when is it acceptable to scream at customers? Then my friend tried to pay with cash and was told they forgot to do their cash drawer so if he wanted to pay cash he would have to wait an additional 30 min. It had already been about 15 min. He was just getting matress bags... worst customer service ever!

Taheem is a phenomenal employee who went over and above to offer me the best customer service I have seen in a long time! Unfortunately, I made the mistake of booking a rental truck with Budget over the weekend and when I went to pick it up, I was told they did not have anything for me even though I had received 2 separate confirmation emails from Budget. They proceeded to tell me that the closest inventory was an hour away from that location and did nothing else to help me. I then went down the street to this Uhaul location and could not have been more surprised and pleased with the experience. Taheem and Tracie saved the day for me as the people helping me move were waiting on me to return with the moving truck. Because of Taheems excellent service, I was able to stay on schedule and while they did not have a comparable size rental to the one I originally booked with budget, he offered to match the rate for the larger truck which they had available. The rate match, however, wasnt the factor that made my experience with Uhaul so great; it was the friendliness of Taheem and his team along with their desire to show customers that they are valued. They all deserve a huge shout out!

I only gave it one star because I had to. I wasnt treated with respect and every person I came into contact with should have not been in customer service. Very unprofessional and barely cared.The owner was working on my Jeep. I had all the appropriate wiring and towing BUT they kept trying to sell me on new units. While the owner was working on my Jeep I was worried because he fixed the issue. He charged me accordingly and said I was good to go. I came back the next day and my trailer did not light up... So he fixed it? Whatever I left with the trailer because I did have running lights. I went from Charlotte, NC to York, PA. Roughly 11 hours due to the 55mph speed limit. Half way into Virginia my radio shuts off and my cruise control does not work! greattttt. Whats another 6 hours with no radio. I took it to my mechanic who found that the Uhaul guys shoved two big pieces of metal into the fuse box, to fix it..Well now my radio works on and off and cruise control is shot because they bent the prongs in the fuse box so far and they got so hot the are melted into the plastic...I do not recommend them at all.They also kept changing the prices on me. Apparently they fluctuate so when you see a good one, grab it!
These guys are great.Got my propane refilled by them.Very good experience.Took the time to explain some important things about the tanks.Will use again.

This place lied and told me they had shipping supplies when they didnt I wasted my entire lunch break coming out there only to find that Ive been lied to on the phone. They werent even willing to talk with me about it they just said no and walked off. Dont expect to get what youre promised at this location.
