Thank you Larry for replacing my doorbell with the latest/greatest technology for home security. When I called to get my doorbell looked at, and you came the next day to fix my bell I was thoroughly thrilled. Also, thank you for running diagnostics on my entire system before you left, thereby making sure the system was performing at its peek. My new door bell rings when someone approaches my door, alerting me that I have a visitor before they ring my door bell. No one can loiter on my porch without my knowing. After researching other companies, I have found that your customer service and attention to detail is far superior than the rest. You dont farm out monitoring my security system... others do farm out monitoring or they dont monitor at all. I feel very secure knowing that CPI Security Systems has be best rate for police response time for security alerts. I was so surprised to see such bad reviews. In my experience in the last two years, CPI Security System are by far... hands down, the BEST. And what is absolutely ludicrous is that another security company lied to steal business away from you during the height of the Covid pandemic. Shame on them!
About 8 months ago we had a new system installed and from the start it has not been working.Several different technicians have been out to diagnose the problem but they dont seem to agree on a diagnosis, one thing they do agree on is that the equipment may be faulty and need to be replaced. Nobody has been back to replace anything yet. They have also been charging me for a lock that was never installed. In the meantime I have to get up several times at night to press ** on the control panel so the alarm doesnt go off. This has been an ongoing problem for months now and after speaking to several of management at CPI, leaving several messages with no call back, no one is doing anything to solve or rectify the problem.
The CPI Technician (Gino) was very courteous and very knowledgeable. However, ur CALL center is questionable. I called for an entire day and NEVER recd a call back nor did U get a call when I decided not to hold for 20mins and CPI would call me. I had to go on the web site, leave a message and hope that I recd a call. Thats the only way to get someones attention. SO... CPI gets a 5 Star for the Technician service but not anything else
We have had CPI for 20+years with upgrades and great service. TILL lightning took out our system, they have sent numerous technicians all with different opinions over 3 months only to be told WE would have to replace our entire system to the tune of $700.We are retired and depended on the system and don’t feel responsible for the equipment failure. They also are continuing to charge us a monthly fee!!!! We feel betrayed for our loyalty!!!I guess we will be looking elsewhere if I can get them to stop charging us!!
Buyer BEWARE. Home shoppers BEWARE.My wife and I recently moved into a home with CPI Security in Charlotte, NC. There is an existing CPI Security system in the house but we elected not to immediately activate it. A couple months later, the system is beeping multiple times per day/night to alert us to an issue with the phone line connected to it which is getting quite annoying since we cant shut it down or shut it off (we dont have the previous owners code).I reached out to CPI Security for help and have been left more frustrated than ever. After 6 calls over 10 days, I am no better off than before. Managers don’t call me back when they say they will. Expected follow up emails do not show up.On the phone, they told me to just press a series of buttons to pause the beeping. Was there a permanent solution I ask?CPI: Disconnect the power. The system is wired into my house. What should I do?CPI: You could cut the wires.I don’t want to cut random wires. Could you send someone here to take care of your system?CPI: It will cost you $150 for someone to visit or you can sign up for service. Otherwise we can’t help you.”I am being held hostage by CPI to either pay for fixing their faulty system or sign up for their service. I have no intention to cut wires myself and cannot get any support from CPI. They take NO responsibility for their product and offer no support for residents who dont pay.BEWARE.
They told me I didnt need internet even though I did need it to set up the doorbell camera and then when they came out and tried to install the tech had to stop when he had already drilled holes into our new houses walls because apparently they didnt approve us yet. I had to stop working and call their tech support and didnt get any response for over 30 minutes while at work. I decided to just cancel and go another route and now Im left with no security system and holes in my new houses walls. This company was totally unprepared and very unprofessional. The rep that sold me never even reached out. Im going to get them to fix my holes in my walls and go with another company.
I have been trying to cancel my contract with CPI for over 2 weeks now. Customer service states that they will call you back at the number they have on file in a certain amount of time and then it never happens. So I reach out via text they tell me that the cancellation department will reach out me but instead it is cust service calling me to tell me the cancellation department will reach out to me. 2 weeks later and NO ONE HAS CALLED!!! This by far the WORST company I have ever dealt with!! Time to write the corporate office!
Horrible company. Cant even cancel a contract if you have unforseen circumstances and have to move to a state they dont service. Had to pay the full amount own just to get out. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.
My doorbell camera barely ever worked when I needed it to, was super laggy, and i could never get anyone on the phone. When i cancelled it due to selling my home it cost me $1400 and i was still charged for the following month. It took me 3 weeks of constantly reaching out before anyone called me back and they told me I shouldve been mailed an invoice for the $1000+ that didnt go through on my card to cancel. I asked them how they could send me an invoice if they didnt have my new address? (No one ever asked for it) Extremely poor customer service. Will never do business with this company again.
I paid for the package up front. They installed the cheapest cameras and wifi router they have. I have had the system for only a year and have had an ongoing issue with one of the cameras. It has leaked water and at night you cannot see out of it because of water condensation. Had to beg to get someone to come out and finally clean it only to have it happen again, and again. Now waiting for the camera to be replaced. But I am paying the monthly fee every month even though I am not getting the security I was promised. No one will give me a discount! Cant ever get anyone to return a phone call.
I have been a customer for nearly 10 years. I wanted to upgrade my system hardware and reached out 3 different times. I never received a return call after being told that someone would contact me. After multiple attempts and 4 months, I decided to go with another security provider. I then called to have my service disconnected and was told that I would receive a cancellation letter that must be signed and returned. This same thing happened 3 other times. I have continued to be charged for a service I am no longer receiving and every time I call or chat with customer service, they assure me that I will receive the cancelation letter, but it never arrives. PLEASE CANCEL MY SERVICE!Update to respond to company response: I have contacted you now 4 times privately and nothing has changed. I have a low level of confidence that this will prove any different.
Cpi charged me $1100 for a system. I said I told you I dont want to pay $1000 dollars for a system right now. We said it was cancelled. They said I would be refunded. I called the next day because it was showing a pending charge. They said that they didnt charge me. I called the next day after the payment through. They said I wouldnt be charged. So days later after transferring me to 4 different people. They finally issue a refund and did say how long it would take. So 5 days later I call about the refund and they tell me it will be 7 to 10 business days. So 10 days later I get a phone call from CPI and I didnt answer. I get a text message asking if I was still interested in their service and they dont want me to miss out on the promo. I called and said their is a reason I dont want the service. I didnt want to pay $1000 dollars for security service. They told me I didnt but charged me anyway. Still hasnt given me my money back and calling about security service.
For the last 4 years I had CPI on auto draft, they were paid like clock work.I am now having a billing issue and they keep promising me it will be resolved and nothing is happening. It has been 3 months should it take that long to fix a billing issue?
CPI customer service is horrible. my system started beeping every few hours on Thursday. i was told the soonest they could get a technician here would be Monday. My system apparently had a bad or outdated card in it. i was told what they walked me through on Thursday would temporarily fix it until Monday. well Saturday it started going off again. the first rep could not fix it or tell me how. the second one had me totally disassemble the panel leaving me with no security until Monday. terrible response time!
CPI security is excellent. A smoke alarm was accidentally set off and the call center immediately assisted us to check if everything was alright on a Sunday afternoon. I also love the doorbell camera and ability to arm the system from my phone. Although I live in a very safe area I feel very secure with this system in my home.
I have been a customer for over 15 years and used to get great service from CPI. I have been trying to simply contact customer service for three days (for an upgrade!) and cant get through to anyone. Every time I call, an approximate wait time is provided and 1) it is never close to accurate, and 2) 4 out of the 6 times Ive called in the last three days, the system (or someone) simply hung up after I waited 15 - 20 minutes. Ridiculous.... Im now speaking with a competitor and plan to cancel CPI.
Original Review:CPI InTouch? More like CPI Out-of-Touch...We moved into a house that had an inactive CPI system installed. The first month was fine, but recently the system started turning itself on, beeping, with a voice command telling us the fire alarm needed batteries and then when we tried to deactivate that specific fire alarm (we installed our own fire/carbon monoxide detectors), the fire alarm went off.Im glad there wasnt a fire or some other emergency because it took 26 minutes for me to get through to CPI to get the alarm turned off. Meanwhile, the alarm was going off, annoying us and all of our neighbors within earshot. Finally, I got through to someone and they instructed us on how to turn the alarm off, but in response to our questions about how to permanently disable the system, the customer service reps (weve talked to several because our call dropped and CPI didnt call back; 73 minutes on hold later...) told us, We can tell you to unplug the power source, but we cant tell you how to do that specifically since you dont have an active account. So in order to render inoperable a machine that your company installed, that we never signed up for, we have to sign up for an account? Yep. Ridiculous Catch-22. The power source is screwed into a wall plug with wires running directly into and out of it--it looks sort of easy to do, but it would be nice if their techs could give pointers on how to uninstall too for those who are wary of electrical appliances.I get it, CPI: you dont want to spend a dime on non-customers/non-subscribers, so you provide a bare bones level of customer service to that group. But thats a bad business strategy: if anything, you should bend over backwards to help anyone who *might* be a potential customer someday. Because I can guarantee you, I will never be a customer after what I experienced today, even if I am looking for home security service in the future. I will be submitting a complaint to the BBB as well. You shouldnt be allowed to install devices in homes if you arent willing to advise people on how to uninstall them.CPI in brief: poor customer service, unprofessional handling of uninstall assistance, and overall annoying experience.Edit After Company Response:A member of the CPI technical support team reached out with instructions on how to power down the unit. Our issue was resolved as we learned how to correctly turn off the unit.
Good services and treat employees well.
I have always rated CPI a 5. I’ve have two accounts over 15 years. CPI is running a special for new customers and those of us that have been loyal, referred several new customers and raved about feeling safe can’t get the same 50% off.The customer service rep did not treat me as a valued customer, in fact she wanted to argue about the reason why I would have to pay over $800 for additional equipment.I’ve had several instances where CPI have charged little to nothing to add a couple of services. ADT calls at least once a month offering several more services than I have today. All the customer service rep kept saying today said was that I have months left on my contract and would not be allowed out of it.What has happened to delivering great customer service and going out of the way to please a loyal customer?
I bought a system that did not work, and they replaced equipment several times. They finally got it to work, and then my wife and I separated. I moved out, but she was willing to take over the account and keep the system on the house. I called; she called, but we could never get this problem resolved. So, now they sent me to collections for $4K because of a contract I signed at the beginning even though they changed equipment and would not transfer the account. Poor service and quality.
Signed up for CPI and had the system installed on 12/15/20. Two days later I noticed the doorbell won’t ring after they installed the doorbell camera (it worked perfectly before the install). Additionally, I get an error message saying one of the outdoor cameras is not responding to the hub.On 12/17 I called CPI to notify them of the issue and the earliest they could send a technician to fix it was a week later on 12/24. When the technician arrived on 12/24 he said he couldn’t fix the doorbell and suggested I buy a new one. He also said the doorbell should have been tested by the initial installers to confirm it’s compatibility (which they did not do). Additionally he said the outdoor camera was basically useless and couldn’t figure out the problem causing the error message. He left saying I’d get a call from the Quality Control department.I never received a call from the Quality Control person so I called CPI on 12/30 to find out the status. I was put on a constant hold for 30+ mins while the phone rep was checking with “leadership”. I then asked to speak with a manager and spoke to someone named Daniel who said he needed to research the issues and will call me back. A couple hours later he called back and said the doorbell camera that was installed is not compatible with my doorbell. He offered to remove the doorbell camera and exchange it for an outdoor camera if I paid the difference in price. I declined advising him that it’s absurd that CPI sold me something that wasn’t compatible and per their own tech guy, should have checked it first. Then to fix it, they want me to spend more money on another camera when the other camera doesn’t even work most of the time. He tried to justify it by saying the doorbell camera was free as part of the promotional package I signed up for. I told him it’s been barely 2 weeks and it’s clear that CPI is just giving me the runaround and I wanted to talk to someone about cancelling. He said the people I would need to talk to are gone for the day and they’d call me another time.In summary, install is barely 2 weeks old and already having equipment and service issues and getting the runaround. This company clearly doesn’t consider doing the right thing and instead just pushes excuses without resolving anything. Next steps are to contact CEO Ken Gill and Channel 9’s consumer/investigative reporter amongst other things.Edit as of 1/14 - things still not resolved. Have spent several more hours on the phone and keep getting told Quality Control needs to resolve it but for some reason CPI refuses to dispatch Quality Control to my home or even call me. This is hands down the worst company I have ever dealt with.
Great Customer Service, Duncan, LaQuanisha is great representative helped me through the process and gave me a great deal!!! Thanks
We have been CPI customers for 2 1/2 years and we have found them to be less concerned about getting paid than customer service and do not stand behind their service and equipment, we have a video doorbell that has been unreliable and fails often. One time they actually told me I would have to buy a replacement doorbell if I wanted it to work properly. I think my next security service will ADT.
Me and my husband had Jason come to our new home. He was great! He went over and beyond what we expected. He was knowledgeable, answered our questions and was very thorough in his work. He even helped us fix our wifi so that our doorbell camera would work. Im glad CPI hired a tech like Jason. We need more like him. THANKS JASON!
Our cameras were not sealed and had water damage. It was a pain to get repaired. Went to cancel service and we were told we have 39 months left. We were never told we had a 5 year contract. Poor service all around!
I was a customer for nearly 4 years. I moved out of the area and discontinued service. They agreed not to bill me for services going forward. 4 months later they are still billing me for service and no one is responding to my calls or emails. II hope leaving this review will motivate them to do right and respond.
They treat their employees badly. That is most likely the reason no one wants to work for them.
Way to expensive for what you get. I moved into a house that had a system already installed. They wanted $40/ mounth to do nothing. I dont care what anyone says youre not doing anything unless the system goes off in which case it has the ability to call emergency services by itself without the need for any interaction with the company. Can they be useful? Is it worth paying for? Absolutely, but not $40/ mounth. You can buy a stand alone system that contacts you, that only you have access to for less than half that or nothing if you shop around for other systems.Reply to the reply from cpiThe time to discuss other options for monthly pricing was when I was on the phone with your associates and told them it was too expensive, not after the fact. Its too late now.
Ignore my account name it was hacked. This is to customers with doorbell and camera issues and the contract you sign. Unfortunately, it is your responsibility to read the contract in fine print. If you fail to do so then that falls on your hands. You cannot be mad at the company. If your doorbell chime isn’t working it is because the tech put in a voltage regulator on your chime box and it’s blocking the chimes, it takes 5 seconds to fix. Or your chime box isn’t compatible and will need to be replaced to get a doorbell. Cpi doesn’t make the doorbell, alarm.com does. We just put it to use. It doesn’t mean the equipment doesn’t work nor the doorbell. A lot of customers get cameras with horrid internet and in the contract it says you are responsible for good WiFi and internet connection, not us. That goes for the doorbell as well. Sometimes it is the customers lack of diligence that causes their frustration. You always read a contract and that’s been a golden rule. Sometimes technology isn’t perfect and you will have the same issue with any other security company. It’s life. Cell towers aren’t perfect. Neither is technology. If you live in an area with bad internet don’t call about getting cameras it’ll be a headache for you and CPI down the road. Some of its common sense but a lot of people lack that. You can’t make everyone happy but CPI tries I can promise you that. Give them a chance.
Not the best place to work. A manager there at this location causes issues to get you fired.Happen to someone I know... And still this ex-coworker came out on top with a new job making $19 per hour with a local hospital in just a few weeks cause God only knew he was a good worker and family provider.Nothing can get in the way of Gods people working and prayers not even man.I have been told by another client that I have done business with that his own son was harassed by a manager there over something he had a work.Guess the law suits brought upon this company for this actions do need to be delt with. Some people just never learn.
Think Twice before using this company. We sold our house and are looking for a new one. I spoke with numerous CPI service representatives who told me I could put my account on hold until we transferred our service and not pay for 6 months. I have called EVERY month to straighten out the bill. If I speak with a person, they assure me it is all set.The next month I find the bill wasnt fixed. When I try to use the call back feature, they never call back.
Be aware that if you have their video cameras as part of your system and a CPI video router and you loose power, our experience has been that it will not reconnect without you recycling the power. This means if you are out of town and your location looses power someone has to go to your house to reset it. I verified this is the case with CPI technical support. They didnt seem to think this was a problemThe saga continues. Today the entire video system went down. Tried to reset it. Suggested solution is for me to crawl in the attic to located the power supplies for each camera and unplug/plug back it. Truly user friendly. Have been on hold for over 45 minutes waiting on a customer care rep to be available to do who knows what.I would caution anyone to think about systems that you control. Best of luck to you
I’ve read through TONS of reviews and am happy to know I am not the only one. I was told I would be refunded in the event of moving to somewhere where service couldn’t be setup. We are building a home and sold our house- CPI would not waive our contract fees and wouldn’t HOLD our account over until we finish building. We are currently staying somewhere that already has a security system in place. I attempted contacting CPI multiple times via phone, email, and text and didn’t receive response for well over 2 weeks when trying to cancel my service. This was during their fallout when CPI CEO had made some controversial remarks on social media that had people cancelling like crazy. Luckily with today’s technology there are quite a few options to choose from moving forward. Happily taking two other family households away from CPI and to a new company that takes cares of its customers. Grass isn’t always greener but I’m definitely taking a gander.
Have had service for 6 years and 4 years at current location. The outside camera fell off and is dangling from the ceiling for whatever reason and CPI tells me there will be a $50-$75 fee to have tech fix it! What?! What happened to owning up to faulty equipment? Now they say they can’t send anyone out for one week! Hope no one wants to break in until then! This company is a joke! Do they realize there are many other security companies out there doing it better? Going to look elsewhere for security and you should too!file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/cd/13/BF81E765-159B-406D-B40D-C624559E431E/View%20recent%20photos.png
We sold our home and canceled our service, paying what we were told to pay in full, and they keep trying to bill us for more. I’ve been told twice now that I had a zero balance and it was taken care of, and two months later, I’m still getting a bill. And when I called to dispute it, she was very rude to me, speaking over me and refused to even listen. I asked for a supervisor, and have been told they’ll call me back. We’ll see!
Great Security System 👍
Jason Pinkert did great work. Jason installed the data and AV cabling in my home and did an amazing job. The wiring was neat and organized, and unlike many people in this business he actually cleaned up his work. He did not leave wire scraps, dust and empty packaging all over my house like many installers do.
One of your loser Salesmen thief named Scott Consentino out of your Columbia office borrowed a bunch of money from me. He says CPI wont pay him. He refuses to pay me back. Are all your reps thieves like him?
Matt and Robert did a great job setting our business up with security. Highly professional and great customer service! Highly recommend! Thank yall so much!
Security system works good and response time is good. Cameras are a different story. Most of the time they dont work.
I had a great experience with the salesperson Michelle,She was very friendly but highly professional. She answered all of my questions in detail. I loved that if she did not know the answer, she said that’s a great question but I don’t know the answer and found out the information. Now, if my security system is as delightful as my experience with Michelle, the sales lady, I am going to be extremely impressed.
Buyer BewareNever during our initial sales and installation were we told we are being locked into a 39 month contract. We are moving and having to pay for months we won’t even be there.Shame on me for trusting them and not reading the contract small print.Up to now I have always trusted CPI and found them to be professional - that is no longer the case.Very shady way of doing business, I will not use them ever again.
They have ample sales staff and limited customer support staff. Waiting 45 minutes is not acceptable when you get an immediate response through the sales team. The people of the sales team were very professional, but CPI CHOOSES to understaff customer support. FIX YOUR CALL CENTER.
Once you own the equipment, you apparently, can never cancel their monitoring service. That fancy doorbell, lock and indoor camera they promote are just decorative because you no longer have access to the app to control them.
Beware!! 3 or 5 year contract they will not adjust if you move! (other national companies will) CPI required a deposit, then refused to install after we moved because we were lease to own, took a month to refund deposit, called 7 times with no response back, you will regret it if you move!! See the pic to see who we have now, celebrities endorse because they dont have these same rules, beware!!
Will NEVER do business with this company again!!!! When I initially began my service the initial quote for the equipment was not correct! Now that I canceled my service effective yesterday this company still took my money out of my account today and after making a phone call to resolve and get my money back I was told that I need to call when their billing department is open between the hours and 8-5. They were real quick to take my money after service was canceled and now I’m having to wait to get my money back! Horrible company and they don’t care about their customers!
Not covid safe. Techs show up with no mask on.
My video doorbell has NEVER worked properly... and CPI installed it and supposedly fixed it. Call to sign up for service, you get the red carpet but after that its a nightmare. Ive had CPI for 5 long years. I should have known to just walk away when they initially didnt wire my home per contract, but I gave them another chance. Bad idea. Trying to get service or cancel your contract is an endless do loop of recorded systems and a well call you back system for which you wont get a call back. Then, if you want to cancel service, its impossible to get anyone and they give you the run around.
We closed on our new house, and we had install scheduled but I cancelled and put my account on hold after a MAJOR family emergency, in which we continue to deal with, on top of COVID-19. I called, was disconnected after holding for over an hour, then called back. I was estimated a wait time of 52 minutes, but decided to have the system call back after assurance of “not losing my place in line”. 5 hours later I got a call where the representative could not answer any questions as to why I was charged either of the 2 charges and did not even have an explanation of them. They told me I would have to wait for a different person to call me back, at that persons availability. I asked to speak to a supervisor who was still unable to give further information but said they had lost the necessary (online) document I signed. He assured me he would follow up that day after the document was signed (he had to get someone else to send it). I did get a follow up-from someone else who knew nothing that was going on. Again someone who couldn’t help and spent the majority of the time telling me what he could do, but never actually doing it. I ended up with his supervisor who hung up on me after I explained the ENTIRE situation AGAIN! He wanted me to sign a document that I own (current) the property in which we sold and had disconnected, and didn’t understand why LEGALLY that was a problem. I called back the next morning got a waiting time of 1,181 minutes, again putting my name in cue for that 19 hour wait. No call back. I called again this morning for a 1,402 minute wait, I’m guessing this near 24 hour wait will never get a call back either! DO NOT USE CPI! They charge at will and are unprofessional. I do not have service but have been charged for install and monitoring with a 3 month gap of NO CHARGES!
We purchased our CPI system in Jan. 2020. A couple of our cameras stopped working about a month ago, we had a service tech out and he said our cameras were not communicating with the boosters. When we purchased the CPI cameras 6 months ago, we asked about those boosters and was told it would be adequate and would work. Now they are trying to sell us another device they say will work best with these cameras. We feel we were mislead from the beginning .We were deciding between ADT and CPI. Looks like we chose the wrong company.
I called CPI five times and they called me back once and hung up on me. Then I left a message and they never called me back. Then we scheduled an appointment and the tech was very nice but broke the system and we had to reschedule and then another tech and fixed the system which took 4 hours. Today I call again as my system says it has a malfunction and the customer service rep called me back but she said I needed to speak to a tech and transfer me and the recording said I had to wait 26 minutes but never called me back now I am waiting for the tech support again and it has been 35 minutes. This is the worse customer service I have ever seen. If you can don’t use CPI they are horrible. I rate them a zero!! Don’t believe me try calling them and see how long you wait and wait and wait. Regards, Still waiting
Tavia was excellent with how she handled my phone call. I had some concerns with a bill and she let me explain my situation and she worked very smoothly and diligently to make sure I was satisfied and answered all my questions.
Ive had CBI for 3 years. First thing went wrong with my panel. They had to replace it with a one. Second thing that went wrong my camera went out thats inside my house. Its been broke for 2 yearsIve had them come out multiple times and they look at the panel but not look at the panel that I called the service order out for. Third thing that went wrong my panel went down. Took they two months to get out here. Because they said nobody was home but my grandmother was home waiting for them while I was out making money.she at home allways. I would tell you the best thing to do is to buy your own security its a lot cheaper and less hassle for the long run.
Technician Rudy just left here and did a wonderful job! He’s very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We’ve had CPI since 2007. We love it bc we get tremendous peace of mind having our home protected and monitored using multiple sensors and notification options.
I have a small business in Charlotte, Nc and have been utilizing CPI security for several years with satisfaction. However after seeing the comments that the CEO released in response to a very sensitive subject I’ve decided that I can no longer give this company my business. We are living in really critical times please advice everyone working for your company to consider seasoning their words because being kind means everything, especially with the social climate we are living in now.
I have had nothing my problems with CPI since I signed up earlier in the year. The equipment frequently fails and their customer service wait times and knowledge of the agents are horrendous. I am glad that I am selling my home this month. I will not ever use them again!
I have been a CPI customer for over 12 years. The majority of the time I was pretty satisfied. However, I am no longer satisfied nor do I feel confident with my system and/or devices. Customer service is mediocre at best. I am definitely shopping around for a new system. Sorry CPI..... its time to stop resting on your laurels and step up your game.
They dont want to work you when you cant afford it. Im disabled and on a fix incone.no matter what they wont cancel the contract. Its not right. This company is out for their self and monies.i wouldnt recommend this to anyone I started with 36 and now they said I have 39 months now Im paying for something that Im not using and theyre just robbing me of my money every month. Im on disability.
Absolute garbage equipment. The devices are always offline and the customer service is by far the worst I’ve ever dealt with. They extend your contract without you knowing and refuse to fix their mistakes. I cannot wait to be done with these scam artists and I hope no one else makes the mistake of doing business with these con artists!!
I have cancelled the monitoring service for few months as we have no plans to go out and due to covid situation I am working from home, but I have noticed that CPI has locked my login id as well, now I cannot access lock/unlock main door or adjust the thermostat using CPI in touch app.As I know people who have not even taken CPI monitoring service could access the CPI app in our Community whereas I have been paying monthly for an year of monitoring service but when I cancelled the service now they revoke my access to login to CPI app. I was not on contract as well.As I was told at the time of buying house even if I dont take the CPI monitoring service still be able to use the CPI app as far as I see most of them do in our community as they did not take the monitoring service at all.Overall this is very frustrating for the customer for whom had taken the monitoring service and cancelled it later and I am sure CPI will never get bussiness from me, they are not at all trustworthy.
Nothing positive to report. From the beginning we were forced to buy overpriced equipment that doesnt work. Please dont use their cameras, our CPI cameras never worked. Now getting a hold of someone to cancel service is a joke. I moved out of state and cant transfer service so now Im being forced to pay early termination. Wont let me transfer service to friends or family that already have service. Waiting here for 45 minutes for the cancellation letter that was supposed to be emailed 30 minutes ago. Look elsewhere.
Worst customer service I have ever dealt with. We have a complaint about a CPI technician and NO ONE seems to care!!!!!!Their automated call you back system is a JOKE! This companys customer service doesnt deserve the single star I had to select.FYI. They dont take the security of your personal banking information very seriously. If they did, we would have spoken to someone already and we wouldnt be resorting to placing horrible views on the internet. If youre looking for a security system, go to a company that puts just as much focus on customer service as they do their security systems. THIS COMPANY DOES NOT!!!
It’s rare that I leave a bad review, so if I do, I feel that it is definitely warranted. We have been CPI customers for about 8 years. Everything was fine until we moved 8 months ago and needed a system installed in our new home. The installer did a decent job but this was a completely new system to us with many upgrades that we were unfamiliar with. He didn’t explain a single thing and left us with equipment, settings, and features we knew nothing about. We were told that our outdoor camera was recording 24/7 and would hold footage for 30 days. We had a theft in our neighborhood recently and found out that our camera was not, and had never been, recording so we had no footage to share with Police. The Police officer even commented “You probably pay a lot of money for a security system that doesn’t even work right.” I called CPI and not only had our outdoor cameranot been recording, but our only other camera, a doorbell camera, that we were hoping would have caught an image of the suspect hadn’t been recording for almost 2 weeks because it reached its max amount of video clips in November and didn’t reset on December 1st like it was intended to. The rep told me that we would need to manually reset our settings at the first of every month to resume recording in case our limit was reached. We pay $65 a month for this service and I find it absolutely unreasonable that we have to manually adjust settings every month or our devises will be completely non-functioning. There are so many other monitoring and security services on the market for much, much less money now and we are considering breaking our contract to go with one of them. In addition to this frustration, we asked yesterday to schedule a tech support appointment for someone to come out and correct the issue with our outdoor camera that has NEVER recorded. We made an appointment for this Saturday between 12-5. Called back today with another issue, (our doorbell cam is now sending us notifications every 2 minutes when the leaves on our tree move) and surprise, that appointment was never scheduled like we were told it was. Now we are scrambling trying to figure out if we can take time off work to have someone come out next week. I am so incredibly disappointed and would recommend that anyone interested in security monitoring to please do your research and consider other options before selecting CPI.
Sold my house and CPI told me that if the new owner wanted to keep the CPI system in place that they would waive the early termination fee. Luckily the buyer wanted to keep the system and CPI agreed to waive the fee. Unfortunately since then, I’ve received multiple calls and letters from collection agencies since CPI mishandled my case and sent me to collections even though they documented the waived fee. Now have called them MULTIPLE times and they have assured me that they have corrected it, yet I just got ANOTHER collections letter threatening my credit. Fraudulent company using scare tactics against the average consumer who doesn’t know any better. No wonder the Panthers and Hornets dumped their sponsorship with a company not only with horrible business ethics, but moral ethics as well.
Terrible!!! If I could give it less than a one, I would. We were customers for about 8 years, selected them after problems with Time Warner. But in the last year, we had several false alarms in the early mornings, with police dispatched on a few of those times. The responder was able to tell us what activated the alarm. We called for service EACH time and a few of those times the technician did not come in the window time. But repairs were supposedly made. However the system continued to activate an alarm after the repairs were done. After dealing with this we reached out to cancel the service, but were told we would have to pay over $600 for the cancellation. We told them that we would not be cancelling if the system operated correctly. When would we know if it was a good alarm if the system repeatedly activated false alarms.Today I get a bill where they’ve added a late fee to the cancellation fee. I’ve sent several letters complaining about why we cancelled and why we don’t believe we should be charged for cancelling. Again I say we would not have cancelled if we felt we could depend on the system for protecting and making us aware our lives were not safe. We also learned from the manager of customer service that the equipment we had was old. It was the same equipment we had while with Time Warner. We questioned why would they not replace all the equipment instead of only replacing it when an alarm went off. It’s just crazy, just crazy!!!!
CPI - what a rip. Long story short, I signed a contract for service with them years ago, confirmed that if I moved, the system would come with me. Well it didnt and they have been charging me $50 a month for the last three years. Every time I call for a proposed resolution, they want me to buy more equipment instead of honoring our original agreement. Never again......along those lines of Spectrum - which is not a compliment.
Been a loyal CPI customer for over 12 years. Sold our house. Put our service on hold as we are building a new house. Wanting CPI to do new construction install. Provided CPI with our new address. Spoke with CPI again to extend hold due to delays in construction. No problem! We didn’t owe anything. Got letter today from collection agency. Called CPI- they have terminated our account. Said they have sent us letters/bills which we have not received - even though we had provided them with new address. Nothing they can do, need to contact collection agency. Service is terminated. Thanks CPI. Glad you appreciate loyal customers. We will find a new security system to do the install in our new house!!
After performing my due diligence, I picked CPI for my in home security system and they have lived to and exceeded my expectations for services, installation and customer service. Emily, one of the customer service reps at CPI, is fantastic and deserves a raise. She represents your brand in a most outstanding manner. My installer, Brad, what a super person and great technician. Brad has infinite patience; answering all my questions, my changing of different sensors and he showed up when promised. Brad is another top shelf employee.
Heres a list of events to explain my two star review:-front door alarm goes off in fault, didnt think too much of it. Glitches happen.- A few weeks later happens again. CPI representative says theyll dispatch a technician to replace it. Supposedly another department will call to schedule an appointment. They never called. Admittedly i forgot to follow up with it.- A few weeks later and it goes off a third time. Called CPI was transferred to the scheduling department and was put on a thirty minute hold. Finally get through and have to wait exactly one week for a technician to come out- Technician comes out. Instead of replacing the sensor he replaced the batteries in it dispite the fact i had not received any low battery alerts. He also replaced a card in my control panel. He told me all the lights on the panel from him working on it will go away soon. I left to go back to work. Get home that day from work and now that sensor is totally offline and not connected to my panel at all.- Called CPI to inform them the technician only made the problem worse. They said i need to reconnect it myself. I was supposed to be transferred to technical support. Rang three times. Went to someones cellphone voicemail that was full and the machine hung up on me.- Called CPI again. Another thirty minute hold. Finally connect to technical support who says theres nothing i can do and that ill have to wait another week to have a tech come out again and look at.Very displeased as everyone I’ve spoke with, except one person, has been rude and very snappy and even had one tell me a called her a liar.Would not recommend. Only redeeming quality thus far is that they do actually call when the alarm goes off. Yet even in that department they still take upwards of 3 minutes from the time i receive the notification email until they actually call asking whether or not to dispatch the police.Ill likely begin the hunt to build my own security system at the house.
Biggest mistake ever going with this company. Would never recommend them to anyone.
I had a great experience with the sales person. She was very understanding, discussed all my needs and gave great advice. The call went so well I did not want to hang up.Thank you Michelle, I am looking forward to being a customer of CPI.
Very helpful salesperson in Michelle. Great conversation about what we needed and also new offers that CPI has. Sounds exactly like what we need at a very reasonable price - much lower than the security system we currently use. Looking forward to being a happy CPI customer.
Our experience with CPI was simply wonderful. From the first initial contact to the installation, everything was smooth, simple and easy to do. Our installation technician Xavier Guevara went above and beyond for us! He was extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeable, patient and a pleasure to work with. Xavier called before he was coming, was on time, had all the equipment we would need, answered all of my questions and made the process so much easier. We love the equipment that we have! We highly recommend CPI and Xavier!
Contacted CPI thinking I’d get some normal sales pitch. Instead I was greeted by an extremely friendly representative named Melissa Pagano. She was eager to understand my needs for a system and helped me narrow down exactly what I wanted. She went through every detail with me to ensure I knew exactly what I was getting and that it fit my home. I am confident that my house and family will be protected by the best system.
I recently bought a home in North Carolina and had CPI come out to set up my alarm system. A gentleman came out by the name of Joe and did not do a thorough job. He disconnected the siren so I got a beeping every 4 hours for three days after he came. I made numerous calls to CPI to please have someone come out and fix it so I would not have to get up during the night to turn off the beeping sound. CPI had me do many things over the phone to try and stop the beeping but nothing worked. I begged them to send someone out and they said they earliest they could get some one out was January 16, 2019. I was not happy. I finally got a supervisor named Christina on Monday, January 14 and she had someone out that day and he was very good. His name was Jeff. He knew the system very well and was even able to get my heater pad to keep the correct temperature. Christina and Jeff should be commended for handling the situation with professionalism and knowledge of their job. I was so frustrated I was ready to discontinue service with CPI and find another alarm company. Because of Christina and Jeff I am currently a CPI client.
Absolutely horrible customer service. I have now been on hold for the second time for 15 minutes now. The first call my hold time was 25 minutes before it just hung up. I understand it is a Saturday night and probably pretty busy so in that case HIGHER MORE STAFF. With all the safe looking commercials and backed by the Panthers doesnt make up for poor service after the contract has been signed. Ken Gill needs to back up CPIs promises to its customers. Thermostat isnt working and going down to 30 degrees tonight. Thanks customer service. Unless things change I would strongly urge anyone to shop elsewhere.
I just had phone communication with CPI representative Josh for multiple areas to address. Josh was very helpful, professional, courteous, insightful and took command/ownership of areas to address. He walked through each area with me, and was very patient and thorough. He provided answers to any inquiries I made. He was very thoughtful and gracious in accommodating my brother who has special needs when doing monthly test of system. Thanks Josh.
DO NOT DO SMART PAY. If you do smart pay and sell/move during the finance period you will have to pay at $300 uninstall/reinstall fee or pay off the equipment in full.It is in the fine print they do not verbally disclose that when signing up. This is VERY BAD BUSINESS. ADT allows you to transfer equipment liability. FYI.
Great service! Feel very secure!
Michelle, the Inside Security Consultant, was very helpful and patient explaining the options of the system and I appreciated her effort.bI would recommend her to anyone seeking a security system.
CPI is the best security system period! No need to shop others. Go with CPI. You will not be disappointed. Our installation tech was a super nice guy. He did a really good job! CPI IS THE BEST! PERIOD!
Michelle was very helpful and helped me with starting up a new service. Great customer service recommended on that alone 10/10
CPI has outstanding customer service. My fiance and I bought a new construction home, we called in November to set up service for right after the original closing date. After many false promises from construction issues we FINALLY got into our home 2 months and 4 days later after the original closing date. We were told at least 5 different dates we were to close on. Each time I called CPI and rescheduled with no problems and they completely understood. They were extremely flexible with us. In fact when we finally did close, I spoke a few times with a lady named Julia, when I called to tell her we were actually closing she was like Wait! Arent you the one who has had all the trouble with construction!? when I replied that was indeed us, she was so excited for us that we were finally getting to close. The guy came and installed our security system, he was super friendly. I had to make changes to the account that they were going to draft our payment out of, thats when I spoke to Ashley B. in the billing dept. She was phenomenal to work with, since the paperwork was still processing she kept an eye on our account for a week until we could change accounts. She kept in constant communication with me to let me know status updates and was so incredibly friendly, which may it way less of a hassle. As far as the security system monitoring itself, we are so far very pleased with our system. Its very user friendly and Im not a tech savvy person. Plus, if you have a smart phone the app is very nice to have if you need to arm/disarm the system if you arent there and need to let someone in but dont want them having your code.
Ryan Davis came and gave us a quote and set up our initial account and Mark Graham installed our system yesterday, 12/12/17. Both gentlemen are nothing less than polite, professional and courteous. Mark was running early and called to make sure it was okay if he came by ahead of schedule. When he arrived he went over what our initial package included and then after walking the home, made some helpful recommendations based on the size of our home. During his time here two equally polite and professional area managers stopped by to welcome us to CPI and to make sure everything was going okay. Mark worked efficiently and tirelessly to make sure everything was in good working condition and that I understood how to use the system before he left. We are very pleased with our new system and the wonderful customer service weve received thus far with CPI. (Review written by Mrs. Wilson)
Had a GREAT experience with Tech George today. Our first time with CPI, and we were very impressed with the total home security system they offered and installed. Obviously pricey with the upfront investment, but that is how we saw it ... investing in our safety and peace of mind. Very thorough and easy to operate system, either at the house or by way of a mobile app on our phones. Would highly recommend CPI.
I haven’t used CPI before, but I have heard good things about them. Donna Morris was very helpful, patient and knowledgeable! She’s very good to work with.. She’s my to go to person! Donna keep up the work good!!
Prior to this year, I would have rated them 5 star. My husband died in March and I spent months updating credit cards, bank accounts, changing the address and billing for the utilities, etc. CPI sent me a bill this summer for cancelling the contract. The contract ended with my husband. No one mentioned the word contract to me when I was changing the address. I would not have renewed it because I knew I would be leaving. A contract requires two willing partners. They just sent another bill for an invalid request. I would not do business with them again.
I was VERY pleased with the female rep I spoke to. She was helpful, knowledgeable & professional. The ONLY reason I didnt give 5 stars is that the result of the call remains to be known. If all gets scheduled & completed successfully, I will happily change to 5 stars. (I love CPI & that she looked for & found the least expensive solution for this single senior homeowner on social security/fixed income.) I didnt think to ask if CPI gives senior discounts (Ill be 68 next month), but one will be greatly appreciated on monthly rate if so!
Emily Matthews at CPI provided knowledgeable and professional service to us for our security system! She gathered all the physical aspects of my property, listened to my concerns, and then structured a complete security solution at a very reasonable price. Always impressed with CPI! I recommend them highly!
I was with another Security company who spoke to me like it was beneath them. They insulted my intelligence when I called in while I was experiencing an issue with my system and I refuse to be spoken to like they did.I called CPI and Michelle was so helpful, she was kind and considerate and walked me thru the process of setting up a new account. She also told me what the best option would be for what I needed and provided me with an absolutely wonderful package. Thank you Michelle, you really helped me when it came to choosing CPI.
Lucky Senesombath was beyond excellent with his patience, expertise and efficient work pace. He showed me throughly how to work the software along with installing my service in a timely manner. A+
Ive had my CPI Security System for over 2 years now. Aside from a weird glitch which has prevented new video clips from being saved, everything has worked flawlessly. After a very pleasant Live Chat session with rep, Ashley in Charlotte, the issue has been resolved so Im even happier!
In fairness CPI provided good service and outside of a few failure to connect issues with the app everything was good. However, I was relocated for work and tried to move the service but was charged a huge cancellation although CPI does not provide service where I moved. I will be contacting the BBB as this business practice has to be borderline illegal. I understand contracts are binding but I have worked for several companies that allow cancellations for reasons such as death, no service at new address, military deployment etc. CPI please reconsider your policy and understand life happens. I will be moving back to the Carolinas and I will always have a security system unfortunately never again CPI.
I spoke with Chasity today and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. She gave me the step by step process of what to expect from the emails and text to the installation and services after. It’s my first time using CPI and based off of her service I’m going to love it!!
Be wary of the contract length and terms. I kick myself for not reading the fine print and moving out of their coverage area. I paid up front for all sensors and equipment before moving out of state. Apparently I am on the hook for another 2+years of service fees even though they dont provide service in Colorado!! Favor yourself and tell the salesman youll only sign up if the contract is month to month at the same rate as the lengthy contract pricing.Follow-up:CPI contacted me after I left the above comment and let me know they are sympathetic to my situation; having moved outside of their service-footprint while subject to the terms of their contract. I appreciate their responsiveness and willingness to work with me in this situation. It should be noted that their security services provided were excellent while living within their coverage area, and the customer service I received during that time was prompt and efficient. I would have contracted with them again (for a shorter term) if they were available in Colorado. I am changing my review from one star to three stars as a result. I am leaving the original comment because I see no obvious material benefit to getting tied into a 5-year contract when paying for the equipment up front.
Just attempted to cancel my contract with CPI. So I contacted customer service and was on hold for 200 mins of a estimated 244 minute wait time. This is a shame. So I asked the operator why is it so hard to cancel service but so easy to sign up for service, no answer. I asked if there was any other way to cancel, there is not. So after being transferred back to the 244 minute wait list again I opted for a call back. Update coming soon, sounds like a BBB complaint.
Best customer service I have received in a very long time. My wife and I picked CPI due to their top products, amazing prices and reviews. When Damon A arrived to install our system, we knew we had made the right choice. We were blown away by the customer service he provided us and made sure our house had everything it needed to keep us safe and even kept us laughing the whole time he was here. We would definitely recommend CPI to everyone.
My service tech was Austin. He called to let me know he was on his way to my home, was very polite and ahead of schedule. He came in, met my dogs and began discussing my system and my needs. After a short discussion, he determined that he could offer me more security than I expected with no additional costs to me. Austin was very personable, very efficient with his duties and updated me throughout the entire installation. Austin informed me of a wiring issue from the previous home owners security system and offered corrections so that all was up to code and my home at the highest level of protection.Austin never stopped for a break, lunch or anything else until my system was upgraded and fully operational. A great young man with an excellent personality, great work ethic and put his work above personal opportunities.Thank you Austin and I hope you and your new bride enjoyed your evening. Thanks again!!!
Jennifer Hatfield was an absolute pleasure to speak to/work with. She was extremely friendly, super knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure my family & I were happy with our CPI services. She was patient, listened to everything I had to say and I could not be happier with my results. Best customer service experience ever.
