Im usually not one to leave negative reviews, but I felt the need to bring a few things to light for the people who work at Palmetto Vision Care:1) It is so important to be up front and explain potential costs BEFORE performing services.I came in for a routine eye exam and was curious to explore contacts. Dr. Morabito had me try on a pair of contacts and was planning to send me off with a sample box. When I went to the front counter to pay, I was told that I would have to pay a $93 contact fitting fee because my insurance didnt cover that service. First of all, I put the contacts on myself and they were simply sending me off with a couple of boxes, so Im not sure how that fee would be applied. Also, none of the staff made me aware of this potential charge when I brought up wanting to look at contacts. Dr. Morabito, that would be a good thing to tell your clients before you have them slip into some test contacts.2) Keep your cool at the front desk.Once I discovered I was being charged $93 for contacts, I was a bit upset (naturally) and the gal at the counter told me I would need to wait for the Doctor to finish an appointment and take it up with him. She was pretty rude about the whole thing and made me feel terrible for not wanting to pay the $93.3) If you are going to charge each patient a mandatory $39 retinal screen charge, it would be good to explain to them further why this is mandatory and actually provide the patient with the results of such a screening.4) Having customers sign a ALL SALES FINAL slip before ever buying glasses or contacts seems a little ridiculous. I was off put by being required to sign this before even getting my exam. It immediately made me want to get glasses elsewhere.Other than the things above, the place was clean, the gal who ran my initial eye screens was excellent and the Doctor was quick and efficient. Just be aware of the potential costs you may incur for services and I would make sure to clearly understand EXACTLY what they will charge you for services.... I will not come back to this location and I will not recommend others come based on how the employees at the front desk treated me.

The office is very spacious and stylish and they have so many frames to choose from. The staff is so caring, helpful and make the whole visit enjoyable. The girls up front did such a good job explaining my insurance benefits and what is covered under my specific plan. I’m so glad I found this practice and will recommend it to everyone

Palmetto Vision Care on Folly Road in West Ashley is an excellent place to go for all things eye and vision care. They have caring and knowledgeable professionals that make sure that you are well taken care of and get the help that you need. They are well worth a visit if you need eye help.

Terrible, rude customer service! Make sure you do not believe their lies and speak with insurance prior to making any decision to do business there as they will tell you something is cheaper but in fact not covered when you wish to only use your insurance benefits.

Hi All:I finally had the opportunity to go in to Palmetto Vision Care last week Thursday to get a much needed eye exam, that was ridiculously overdue.The welcoming smiles from the front desk associate and the assistant technician set the tone for my examination with doctor. I was pleased with the results and cannot wait to get my new eyeglasses.The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I could not get my eyeglasses, due to the absence of the associate that normally assist the customers. I was informed that she had a family emergency away from the office, therefore; I will need to return at a later date. All in All...PVC is a great place to get those cherished possession examine to see the world clearly!Sandra

I hadnt been to an eye doctor in a while, but noticed my eye sight had gotten a little worse. One of my friends recommended this eye doctor to me and they were all great! They made it easy picking out new glasses and the doctor was so nice and friendly and gave me some great tips to help save my eyes from getting any worse! I would definitely recommend to anyone!

First eye doctor I’ve been to in Charleston and definitely the last. They scheduled me for the day after I called and had no problem fitting me in in a pinch! Warm, friendly, professional people. Cool, high-tech equipment that they review the results of with you on the spot. We were new to the area so after some searching I came across Palmetto Vision. I chose to go here bc they were close to my new home and accepted my insurance. The doctor seemed pleasant and the office staff seemed pleasant at first. After getting my glasses and my sunglass ($680 worth) I was upset to find out the sunglasses made me very nauseous. I took them back on 3 separate occasions where I was told it was the same prescription and lenses that were in my regular glasses. I was told all 3 times to just wear them and my eyes would adjust. Not the case! I then had a useless pair of $450 sunglasses! When it was time for my next eye exam I chose to go elsewhere. I took my sunglasses with me to have the new doctor look at them. The first words out of his mouth were “these are def progressive lenses and your glasses are single vision. No wonder they made you nauseous”. He then called the doctor at Palmetto Vision to see if they would make it right.... NOPE! Was told to bad that he ordered single vision and it wasn’t his fault the lab did progressive 😡. To me it was 💯 their fault for looking at them 3 times in office and telling me it was the same to just wear them. The wrong type of lens could’ve ended up messing up my eyes! Glad I went with my gut and didnt!!!!Second issue I had was the little piece of metal where the glasses bend ended up getting bent by my 5 year old. Took them in. I was told the doctor wasnt in but the girl would take care of it..... she took care of it alright. She took the piece off and couldn’t get it back together. I was told the doctor was out for 3 days that she could tape them together for me until he got back!!!!Bad customer service...... go elsewhere!

Everyone in the office is very kind, and I feel like my time is respected because Im always seen very close to the scheduled appointment time. Great Experience! Ive been putting off seeing an eye doctor for decades. I guess I expected some horror-filled recreation of the 1970s. The doctor introduced himself as Mike - which made me feel very comfortable. I ended up with glasses to correct my near vision, and a recommendation for a cheap-o solution for distance vision. So the 4K HDR TV I bought a few weeks ago and mentally gave a review of meh? Its AWESOME! The staff was attentive, professional and obviously cared a lot about the quality of the patient experience (as well as about the quality of the glasses). Recommend Highly! Dont wait decades like I did ;)

On 6/30/2016 my autistic step-son and his mother went into this facility. They provided the front desk clerk my Insurance information. The front desk clerk was confused, and then asked for the medical insurance card. This was where they decided to file the visit. Under the discount program associated with my medical plan. The vision insurance originally provided was a federal plan that would have paid 100% of the exam and all but $70 for the glasses chosen, since they did not show the free exclusive frames collection supported by my insurance.Once all was said and done my step-sons mother paid over $347 dollars for glasses. She called me because of it. I then called the facility to explain they billed the wrong Insurance. They refused to believe that I knew what I was talking about. They kept going on and on about billing Eye med and what my benefits were. I tried to be calm, I tried to explain the misunderstanding, but they basically treated me as if I was crazy and incompetent. This was on the day they could have changed things.On Friday, I was directed to Amelia. She was just as belligerent as Amanda at the front desk. It took me a while to convince her to call the toll free number on the back of my insurance card to confirm. She stated she would and would call me back by the end of the day. No call.I waited over the holiday and called on the 5th again. A note was taken and I was told Amelia would call me by the end of the day. No call.I finally get a hold of Amelia today. She just states she called my insurance company and they are waiting for my call. I collect the info and call my insurance company.My Insurance Company confirms my benefits, then tries to call the facility to work out a solution. The facility states its a final sale they wont budge. My Insurance Company tries again. Nothing.So My Insurance Company will reimburse ME for the facilitys mistake.If they had been pleasant and offered to call the number and info I gave them the first day, we could have had this sorted out quick. They could have called me back like they stated they would and some of this could have been resolved.I do not appreciate being treated like an ignorant person over the phone. I do not like the fact that my step-sons mother was taken advantage of. Corrections to the process could be that if you are unsure with which insurance, then you ask for the number of the policy holder to confirm. There are many that carry full insurance and an additional discount program. Discounts are not first line primary insurance. When in doubt, make a phone call. That is good customer service.Personally I am appalled that with the level of service, your staff keeps you in business.

I would like to take the time to express my experience at Palmetto Vision Care. I did get my prescription from a different doctor. But I made all of my purchases at Palmetto Vision Care. Amelia took the time to educate me on my prescription, help me pick out the proper frame. Also took the time to figure out what type of lifestyle that I lead. Not knowing at first where the conversation was going. But after Amelia and I started to talk she was able to understand my lifestyle and what I do pertaining to work and my hobbies. Totally stoked with my purchase of my glasses. Also I had a contact prescription and was going to fill that with one 800 Contacts. With the one stop shop I was able to get my glasses,contacts 20% discount on a pair sunglasses by ordering a year supply of contacts. Come tomorrow I will be calling my doctors office and transferring my records over to Dr. Morabito. And one fell swoop I was out the door with everything that I need it. Was refreshing to go into a place of business and have an employee speak so highly of their boss and their office.

This is my second year coming to Palmetto Vision Care. Im so amazed by The technology that their office has. Im very fortunate that I do not have to wear glasses, But I do enjoy the wide variety of sunglasses. Even though I do not have to wear prescription glasses I go back each year for the doctor to monitor the health of my eyes. Hats off to the amazing staff that works there!

The visit to Dr. Morabitos office was a bad experience. We were not greeted properly at the start of our meeting/visit which made me feel awkward and he does not know how to work with children. He did not have patience. We left the office without insight to my childs eye issue. I have to make her another appointment with a pediatric ophthalmologist. I would not recommend this doctor.

Customer service is lacking in empathy & concern. I provided insurance information the day before a scheduled appointment as requested by their admin. The following day I arrive and they tell me that they are unable to contact my Insurance Company at that time, so I will have to pay the full price. I asked them, why couldnt they have told me the day before or at least earlier that morning before I arrived for a 2PM appointment. All she could tell me was that is how it isI work in customer service as well, There are always going to be things that happen that are beyond our control and people can make mistakes. It was the genuine lack of concern and not my problem air of indifference that made me walk away. I would have been flexible & understanding if I had received service that was understanding & flexible as well. I will update this review if by some chance this company does something to address this issue.

The staff is great, and the doctor is so welcoming and nice. You feel like a valued customer from the moment you walk in the door. Id recommend it to anyone!This is an update from two years later. I recommended Palmetto Eye Care to two close friends who both had extremely negative experiences. The person in the glasses area broke one of my friend’s glasses. She snapped them in half, right between the eyes. It was an accident, but she only offered a ten percent discount on a new pair, which my friend would have to wait a week for. My friend had a pair of backup glasses, but if she didn’t, she would’ve been out of luck. The other friend was treated rudely on the phone, so she went by in person. The woman at the front desk was so rude to my friend that she wound up just cancelling her appointment and going somewhere in Mt. Pleasant. I am very embarrassed and disappointed that I recommended this eye care facility to so many people. I will not be going back.

Worst experience I have ever had at any doctors office! The doctor and staff were rude and extremely unprofessional. They need to take some courses on customer service or have a consultant come in to teach them how to take care of customers correctly! You cant just fire some of the staff to make this office better, it starts from the top and goes on down! Beware! You have to pay 100% upfront at the 1st appointment for your exam and your eye glasses and you find out after the fact they have no warranties, no guarantees on their shoddy work! Its not like I have serious eye issues! They were over priced, compared to other eye places,they charge over $900. I was also diagnosed with an eye problem and the doctor never told me! I couldnt even see out of the glasses they made! I was told Too Bad ! You dont get your money back! I should have read some of the YELP reviews first! Big mistake!

Initially had a good experience here, but the next few times I went were not that pleasant. Firstly, they are not transparent about pricing and helping you figure out exactly how much you would pay. It was just assumed you would do all these tests with no acknowledgment if its included in your insurance or how much it would be. The only part that was kind of helpful was when Amelia went over how much lenses and frames would be -- she broke it down in front of me on her computer.I made an appointment to get an eye exam and to get glasses -- and I ended up having to come back again just to get glasses, because they scheduled my appointment when there was no employee who could help with glasses....even though I specifically asked about getting frames and glasses. They just made my life even more difficult after I already had taken off work.As well, I went to pick up glasses that were paid for and the doors were locked 10 minutes before they closed, the place abandoned -- I toke off from work just so I could pick them up before they closed. So that left me upset and frustrated.Thus I am asking them to remove me from their patient list and to no longer contact me.

For the most part, Palmetto is a good place. Im currently doing the cataract surgery route as advised by Dr. Morabito, and the first surgery went well. Dr. Morabitos follow-up exam was excellent... he didnt take very long, and the wait was miniscule. I recommend the practice.
