I decided to purchase an X yacht that was located in California and would need to get it back to Charleston. My broker Glen Appelbaum ensured there was continuity with his company from the time the boat was put under contract to the time it was tied up in its slip in Charleston. He contacted his counterpart Erik Mayol, who attended the survey, sea trial and offshore closing, as well arranged the logistics associated with shipping the boat to the East Coast. Once the boat was discharged in Ft Lauderdale, another counterpart within the company, Matthew Morrison, received the boat and moved it to a marina. He ensured the boat was secured for an impending storm, as well as oversaw preparations for the final delivery to Charleston. This included having batteries replaced and the engine serviced.Glen accompanied me to Ft Lauderdale to bring the boat to Charleston. What might have seemed a daunting task with potential for failure turned out to be seamless and smooth.Glen and Denison far exceeded my expectations of what a superb broker should be. We communicated daily through the whole process and he and Denison handled literally every part of the process. I did nothing. I can’t imagine using another broker. It’s not possible to offer a higher level of service than I received.
Two years ago I initiated a call to Dennison to seek assistance with yacht information, trawler specific, as my wife and I began our voyage into a new level of boating. Of all the brokers and agents I communicated with, since 2013, Chris Ollis stands out as the finest. He built a genuine relationship with us which continues. His network of brokers, technicians and specialists is extensive. This proved pivotal in my decision process. He issued cautionary guidance when necessary, and was notably objective always. Chris was there at all key events, participated and advised constructively in the extensive survey(s) and personal inspection(s), yes, there were a couple. We all know that brokers must be motivated to make money, many do, Chris did, but in our case, he earned it, we are pleased with our purchase, the seller was satisfied and we remain in helpful contact, and Chris remains my chief yachting advisor. He recently cruised with me on our new Trawler and will do so again. Hire him
Glen Appelbaum is not just a great agent, he is a quality individual. Our closing took much longer than he, or we, expected. He was patient, always level minded, and his integrity for both parties involved meant that he is the first person I will go to the next time we are in the market. I have dealt with many sales people and even manage a team of them in my current position. Glen is in the top 1% in my book because he understands that people are at the heart of the transaction and not just a product. I recommend him to anyone in the market, whether they are an experienced buyer or a first timer. It has been an honor to work with him.
I have had experience buying and selling 4 boats and along the way have dealt with a large number of brokers. Without a doubt Chris Ollis has been the best broker I have ever dealt with. I came to Charleston from California to look at a Back Cove 30 which appeared to me to be the best of its type on the market. From the beginning it was clear that Chris knew the boat well. He arranged a sea trial and subsequently was diligent in taking me thru the survey process especially since I could not be there myself. He followed up on the survey findings and made the boat right. He was also instrumental in helping find transport for the cross county trek. At this point nearly a month after the boat has been sitting happily at my dock in Newport Beach I am still corresponding with Chris on a frequent basis with questions that he immediately responds to.Simply said Chris is a highly professional, knowledgeable broker who follows-up and makes the potentially stressful process of buying a boat enjoyable.
No pressure came off as genuine..
