Just had my 1997 Chevy Camaro painted it looks great! I bought the clearcoat best paint job and it was well worth it the bodywork was excellent will absolutely recommend to all my friends Fred the owner of the business was involved and very friendly

The young lady that assisted me in the office was unprofessional and rude. She was not understanding and had a very non chalant I dont care attitude. The sad part is she did not give me her name but I honestly thing it was Ms. Cooper the general manager!!!! SMH Misery loves company and I refused to be miserable with her. I run a company and I would have terminated this lady on the spot had she worked for me because Customer Service is always number one.

SECOND EDIT: After emailing customer service from the reply posted on my review, zero communication. The reply on reviews is just for show. They do NOT follow up with the review, the complaint or anything. Just a terrible business in general STAY AWAY do not use them.I brought my truck in to get some road rash repainted on the front left and front right door. After getting approval from the warranty company covering it, I scheduled an appointment to bring my truck in on Tuesday. I was told it should be done by Friday by one representative. I call on Friday and another representative said the turn around is 7 days. Fair enough, I understand being very busy. 3 weeks later I finally receive my truck back to only have the driver side door done and not the passenger side door. After 3 weeks of time they didn’t even take time to reapply my Sierra emblem on straight. They had terrible communication with me and updates on my truck and anytime I called, because they never would call me, I was put on hold 3 separate times and forgotten that I was even on the line. Not once but 3 times I was forgotten only for them to pick the line up after 15-20 mins saying “how can i help you.” Or even specifically asking them to give me a call back, I would never hear from them until I called them back. For a paint shop as well my truck didn’t even come back to me clean.Edit: this was the sam rittenberg location

My bumper cover was hit and came out of alignment. Took my car to a shop near by my house only to be put on a month-long wait list and $1000+ estimate just to reattach it. After some more research I took my car to Maaco, and it was $72 to reattach the bumper, job was done in 1.5 hours, and it looks very close to new. Absolutely pleased!

The experience I can say was not bad. The employee was knowledgeable, straightforward and did not pressure me at all. I appreciated the time she gave letting me know my estimate but my vehicle is nearly 20 years old and the cost was more than Id like to pay for a vehicle this age.

I cannot recommend this place for paint work. I had some body work done here and it was done pretty well. However, the paint job, specifically the paint prep, has caused me more problems than good. I have provided photos, but there is paint on my car tires, window shield and rubber lining, car frame, undercarriage, wheel wells, and inside the cabin. On the front of the vehicle they tried to clean up the paint but ended up getting black paint on the new paint coat on the car. Also I’ve had my car back for few weeks now and there are multiple flakes and chips already in the paint.The staff is friendly. The bodywork was a good 4 out of 5. But the paint job gets a 0 out of 5 rating, thus the overall 2 out of 4 rating I gave. I’ve had vehicles painted in the past at a Maaco in North Carolina and the paint jobs were good. I have two other vehicles I want to get painted but i will not have them painted here.

After getting my parts I had painted at the sam rittenburg location I noticed scratches in my paint. Knowing that I didn’t catch it before I left with the parts they would just blame it on me. Now I’m left with a new damaged bumper.,..

My first experience with Maaco at 1974 Sam Rittenberg, Charleston, SC 20407 was horrible unfortunately. My car needed replacement of bumper. After replacing bumper, I ended up with another issue which is worse than broken bumper. They took my cars engine sheet away and just damp them and said that your car did not have the sheet at all. They create issues to keep the customers coming and charging the customers. Very unhelpful and rude team. They left my cars unresolved.From owner to manager of this ship are very rude and unhelpful. The body men in this shop are very unprofessional. They are not able to evaluate the cars problem and fix it without creating issue.

I am a repeat customer. My prior Services were good experiences. The ladies at The North Charleston Maco Exceeded my prior experience. The Manager, Teresa and her assistance Monique treated me very well. I was basically a walked in customer and they were able to more than assist me. I will be picking up my Vehicle in a week and Im VERY excited to see The Results.

Seen a few negative reviews on this location but my spirit told me to give them the opportunity to paint my car. When I arrived to pick up my car all I did was smile. The young lady in the office and Fred were very courteous. Would recommend this location they get the job done.

I took a 2004 Suburban into Macao because it was the only place I could easily find that would paint a vehicle that was not covered under insurance. The website gave me an estimate for 2400 but the actual estimate was for 1000 more. It took them 10 days to do the work though they verbally told me it would take 4 days. The work is below average. There is over spray. They did not remove the pin stripes before they painted over them. It is not a great job. I would not plan on using them again unless I did not care for detail work.

I just got off the phone with Fred asking for an estimate again for Silver Rock. Something Silver Rock asked me to do because Maaco did not respond to their direct request. Fred decided to raise his voice with me on the phone. ABSOLUTELY NOT OK!! The estimate should have been done. I should not have to call Maaco at all. Of course when Fred yelled at me, I said Do not F*&^ING yell at me. Then Fred told me not to cuss at him instead of apologizing and taking responsibility for the unprofessional service. I immediately hung up. I will be speaking with the corporate office about this.

So this was my second visit first time was for the paint job second time was for warranty work had some peeling around the windows. It was well within my warranty but felt like I was questioned because of the small size of the peeling but once again it was under warranty.The work took longer than expected and when I picked up the car I was told they had a hard time matching the paint, which they had put on the car, so they repainted the entire car. While that sounds great The car was a slightly different shade of green and metallic the second time around. The taping off was done poorly this time I had overspray on the luggage rack the windshield wipers the trim and part of one of the mirrors and there was even tape left on the car and adhesive on much of the trim. I was much happier with the first paint job the second one left a lot to be desired

The owner responded as a professional and the shop did what I needed... the redo was ok, I accepted it because I couldnt continue to waste an hour up to West Ashley for piecemeal work.

The paint on the roof of my car started to fade and needed to be repainted. I didn’t want to spend a fortune since the car isn’t worth that much and Maaco’s advertises economy paint jobs. I received an estimate and was told the work would take approximately four days. Dropped my car off Monday night so they could start working on it Tuesday. I was told they should have it ready by Friday. To do the work they require a 50% deposit which I found interesting but I was dealing with an economy shop. I called on Friday to see if my car was ready and spoke to Fred, he went to check and left me on hold so long I thought he had forgotten about me so I hung up. I happened to be in the area so I went to the shop personally. Fred has some of the worst customer service skills I have encountered in quite some time. rude and arrogant are about the nicest things I can say about my experience with him. He told me my car would not be ready until the following Tuesday. The shop is only open Monday through Friday and closes at 4 o’clock in the afternoon so catering to those who work during the week apparently is not a high priority. I called back on Tuesday and was told it might be ready on Friday; at this point we are going on two weeks to paint just the roof of a car. I expressed my displeasure and John assured me it would be ready on Friday afternoon. I called again on Friday, since no one ever called me with an update, and was told the car would be ready however they close at 4:00 but I don’t get off work until 5:00 so I paid the balance over the phone and asked that the key and receipt be locked in the car. The car was out front but the key was no where to be found. I called back on Monday and was told the key was under the front mat but before I had a chance to check John called me back to tell me they forgot to put it in the car and it was still hanging on their board. No apology, no offer to bring it to me because of their error just a reminder that they close at 4:00. The work they did was good which is why I gave them two stars instead of one however I would not recommend them to anyone. The unprofessionalism, the excessive amount of time required to do a simple job, the limited business hours and the rudeness of Fred combined for an unpleasant experience. I’ve learned my lesson with this location; I will never use them again and would not recommend them to anyone.

These guys are magicians with clients on a budget!!!! I took our explorer to a body shop near us in the terrace to give me an estimate on some bumper damage and they gave me a $3000+ price. Fred and his crew, $96 and it looks great. Really really impressed. And, they sanded my yellow aging headlights for $55 total and they look brand new!! Im not complaining but how do these guys make money on projects such as ours. We are super fans of this place now. Thanks Fred and crew!!!!

Took my car in to have my driver side door realigned, as it was dropping about two inches when opened and was giving me problems. Well it does open and close properly now but there is still a huge gap between the door and fender when comparing it to the passenger side. Also they sanded the door and fender down with my windows all the way down and my car has dust on every single surface. I’m having to get my car professionally cleaned because of how bad they trashed the Inside of it. Evan the seats in the third row are covered in dust and my car smells like a bottle of nail polish remover from all the chemicals in the paint!! Seriously disappointed in them not to mention they left a part on my dashboard that they forgot to install. Still trying to figure out how to attach pictures so you can see how bad it really was!

I was involved in an accident. Took my 2013 Challenger r/t, to Maaco. They left my keys in the car under the seat. I arrived after work to find, plastic wrap still on headlights, my hood not down, body lines suck. Windshield still cracked. One of my headlights are not even bolted all the way down! I will be there in the morning, it will be Hell to pay! I paid almost 9k. This shop is horrible!

Macco will never touch another car of mines! & I will try to let others know as well... I had my car painted from white to blue, they lost the color code that they painted it, therefore they couldn’t touch it up because there was blotches in it.. So they took upon themselves to try & match up the color & made my car mix-match in color. But didn’t tell me they lost the color code until after they painted it! So they painted my car all over “again” to the color blue that they tried to match it up to.. Now let me give u a re-cap.. they painted it blue, tried to Paint out the blotches with a different color blue( because they lost the color code of the original blue the painted it the first time, took it back to fix that & they painted my entire car the blue they choose!!!.. Took this matter to the owner Mr Fred(west Ashley) .. Ti ask him for a refund because I was not satisfied, due to my car has been painted 3time & still not correct! Mr Fred said he will not give me a refund because we can paint it to another color blue & try & get as close as we can to the original color blue u had! I said Sir Please! I can’t go through this again.. & I don’t think they where sanding my car before all these paint jobs they where doing! Mr Fred was the nastiest man I had ever talk to that own a business in my life! He basically said he didn’t care.. & take my offer or leave it as is... I tried to call higher Management, but he is the owner, therefore all my call & complaints went back to him! I swear my Testimony is True! Maaco could not paint my fingernails... I ended up getting my car painted back White...The original color.,,PS... And Don’t even think about Maaco on Dorchester Rd.. They need to shut down! I’m calling OSHA, because there’s no way they are Certified...

I am usually not one to write a bad review but in this situation I feel like I have a responsibility. I brought my truck into Maaco Collision and was immediately greeted with a horrible attitude. The owner Frank was rude and very dismissive. I even tried to turn it around by being overly nice and very respectful, but to my lack of surprise this did nothing. This reason alone I would advise anyone to stay away from this establishment. The other thing that I must warn you of is this: I left a very expensive pair of beats by dre headphones in my center console (I forgot them there) long story short...when I picked up my truck they were gone. I was assured that everyone was asked about them but no one had them. OBVIOUSLY! who would volunteer that information!? I cant prove it to be 100% but I am 99.9% sure they were stolen from Maaco Collision. With the vast amount of respectful and trustworthy shops in Charleston...please take my advice and go to any of them before you go here.

Absolutely horrendous paint job! First they apply the wrong color,than they didnt tape around the handles so now even the black rubber under the handles is painted, residue all over the rubber sealing. That kind of work should require prison. The Owner is all about the money, dont care about the customer what so ever. Please dont go there!All most forgot, there was a big screw in my left front tire, good thing a spotted it.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEYThe car: I had to get them to repaint my bumper 3 different times before it came out decent. The first time there was paint on my lights from where you could easily see it was not taped up properly and looked crusty around the edges. The second time they did well around the lights but on the lettering that says mustang on the back there were bubbles and under that it looked crusty. On the second time, they tried to tell me the bubbles were previously there as well as the bad paint job underneath. However, at the scene of my accident I took up close photos of my bumper and you can clearly see that was not the case. They claimed the bubbles were from decals that were put there and painted over before I got my car, even though they refused to buff the decals off they managed to not get bubbles in my lettering the third time. This gives me reason to believe that it was from a rushed job since they werent getting paid for it the second time around.Customer Service: When my car was not right the manager got an attitude with me and told me he wasnt going to give me a rental car because I am under 25. I let the owner know and he was accommodating and wanted to make it right. Later that day they called me letting me know they got done with the second paint job. I went in and the owner had left. I pointed out what was wrong to the manager and again he got an attitude with me. In their lobby he proceeded to yell at me in front of the one customer that was in the lobby. Later that day a front desk person called me to let me know that even after the manager yelled at me and said he would buff the decals off free of charge that they were no longer covering that, then she proceeded to hang up on me. When I talked to the owner to get my car fixed for the 3rd time he was extremely rude and tried to tell me that the damage was previously there. I let him know that I have up close photos of my bumper and I can prove it was not there. He told me he didnt care what I had. The work that was done on my car showed it, as well as his employees attitudes.I would have rather spent $100 more somewhere else to receive better costumer service and have my car done right the first time.I believe the economy is not in a place where you can afford to have poor quality work with a combination of a poor customer service. I know this review is lengthy but I would never give someone such a poor rating without a worthy explanation.

Worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life.I have never been to a Maaco before today, and I will never, ever, bring my business to this corporation after my experience today.This business is about mass production--not quality, their quotes are out of line, and the manager was incredibly disrespectful/insulting to me.Dont waste your time. If you expect to receive descent service or product like any other business or product in USA then save your time and money and take your business else where!I had a camper shell painted here, first there was not enough paint sprayed and you could see the old color through the new paint, they agreed to spray it again and when I went to take it the real unprofessional jerk personality of the owner (Fred) came out, he had the camper shell loaded onto my truck and decided NOT to fasten it, saying I dont like your attitude and you can do it yourself !! and he didnt stop there, ordering me to leave his property with the camper shell loosely sitting on my truck bed!I was wrong to leave his property and shouldve called cops on this jerk for a totally unprofessional act and sending me off in an unsafe situation for me and other people on the road!I called the nation wide phone number and reported the scenario, after their investigation they called me and said that there was no wrong doing according to store owner and that the shop owner has the last word !!Take your business somewhere else, this jerk dont deserve to be in public service business!

I have heard a lot of horror stories about this company…. But I thought they could not possibly mess up a simple fender repair. Boy was I wrong!I took my 2003 BMW X5 to have the fender repaired. Initially I was offered a “FREE” 23 inspection. Which I agreed to (honestly I already had pre knowledge of the car’s issues because I had paid for a complete Diagnostic at the BMW dealership a few days earlier). They called me within hours with a laundry list of repairs that were need, totaling $2500, to a car that a few days earlier checked out fine…With regards to the fender….The quality of the work was very poor. The fender did not align with the bumper… the fender support bracket was completely showing and on top of that there is a Gap (big enough to stick my hand in) between the Bumper and the fender that was not previously there. The Door lining was not connected it was tucked in the rear door lying across the back seat. It is clear to anyone with clear vision that the fender is not aligned properly, The manager gave me a BS excuse to why this occurred which made absolutely no sense to me ( a mechanical engineer) ….Then proceeded to tell me that I needed a whole new bumper and it would cost me $1100 dollars. FYI I got three quotes before the repair that said I did not need the bumper… and I am on my first inspection after that says I don’t need a bumper…. He stated that he stood behind his work and then asked me to sign a form saying I was satisfied with the workmanship…. Really….. If that is the quality of work that the company stands be then I would strongly suggest that any one in need of car repairs go elsewhere.I called customer service where I was directed to a voicemail! Hopefully they offer better service then the shop that performed the work…. Well I am on to get a second inspection on their work and then to my lawyer’s office. Honestly, when it’s all said and done it would have been easier for them to correct the issues….

My son originally went to talk to the owner at this location and he told me the man was rude. I told my son No Way, hes gotta be busy or something and I just blew it off. I went there and the owner was quite short with me at one point saying what do you expect for a $300.00 Paint Job? I was floored. I wanted to still give him the benefit of the doubt so I scheduled the appointment and brought the vehicle in. They painted it and the job was fair. However, there was overspray in several places and get this, they forgot to paint behind the plate! Rather than telling me to bring it right in and they would fix it, I was told to bring it in a full week later. Huh? I wont bring it back and have to endure that again.

Was told that my car would be ready on Friday, after initially asking me to leave it for a whole week. To the surprise of no one there was a problem with the paint gun and my car was not ready before they took off for the weekend. Despite telling him that I had to have my car to do my job, was offered no compensation of any kind. Will not only never use them, but will tell anyone and everyone I know to avoid them like the plague as well. Amongst the worst customer service experiences Ive ever had, talked the owner even, and just could not have cared less.

I tried to go there and get an estimate on some bodywork. A individual who looked to be the manager( He was dressed in a collared company shirt opposed to all other employees in company t-shirts) came out and looked at what I wanted done then went and got a body shop technician. The manager spoke to the technician but acted as though I were not there. Never acknowledged a word I said. After ten minutes of this I just said thanks anyway and left. Save yourself some time,frustration and a run-in with just rude people. Dont stop at Maaco!

This is a truly lame business. The owner is in denial about his deciet. 6 days ago today he promised the paint on my mirrors would be done. Two days later they were badly scuffed, we brought them back. He told us they would be done Friday. Nope...now Monday. Today is Monday and they just started repainting them for the third time today. The owner is a classic sheister who always has an excuse but no real answers for you. You must just bend over. The other review here about the estimate is true. She came out and gave me a $250 estimate. A week later I called and got a man on the phone and got a $135 estimate. So now this $135 job is still not worth it. A true headache. PS- I still dont have my parts back....they said 12pm today...well see. Update: Just got mirrors back at 1pm since they were not done at the agreed 12pm...shocker. There is over spray, tape and imperfections...all he said to me was sorry on the way out. Wow...seriously?

I was reccomended by my mechanic, and was very happy that he did. I wont go anywhere else, and would reccomend Maaco to all of my friends. Saved me almost all of my insurance deductable, and painted the entire car. Great job guys.

So someone backed into my front bumper, instead of calling the police, me and the other party agreed to take it by an auto shop vs calling the police and maaco was the closest. All parties met at maaco and we got a quote from maaco, the other party paid for the damage and we told maaco we would be back for them to do the job. I received a receipt of the amount paid and what a description of the work to be done. I asked the employees if there was a time limitation on the work that was paid to be done. They said no. So my car that was damaged and the work paid for, I ended up blowing the motor and the car has since been in drivable. I since went back to maaco and showed them the receipt of the payment and explained how the car thats on the receipt is no longer working and would like to get the money back that the other party paid since I can no longer use the credit. It was money that was paid to them (for MY vehicle) that THEY were suppose to do work on and NEVER did. My vehicle now is brand new and needs no work or id just get a credit. They refuse to give my money back, nor do they have me or my receipt in the computer however I have a copy of my own in hand. They literally STOLE my MONEY, and kept it with NO WORK DONE!!! Thieves!! Too them, its FREE MONEY!!Oh, and the owner shows absolutely NO RESPECT towards WOMEN!! Hes a sexist!! Totally rude and disrespectful!! I know because of first hand experience dealing with him.He runs the Maaco on Dorchester Rd also.....MAJOR RIP OFF REPORT...!!!

The maaco on Sam rittenburg rd is completely horrible. The customer service delivered by Fred is even worse. I dropped my car off and was told it was going to be two days to paint two little spots. I come back two three days later, and the paint had bubbles in it, and the lines were horrible. They scratched my paint that they didnt even do, I mean multiple bare metal scratches and overspray was everywhere. I told the owner that I was not accepting this kind of work. He stormed off saying just leave it here then whatever so a week goes by, I come back, only to another crappy job! The paint was still bubbled and had what he said was a piece of sand that got under while they were painting. WOW. By this point I was beyond disbelief that The owner himself would turn out this kind of work. He then told me to leave the vehicle again, I told him I will not be without a vehicle for 10 days again, he said youre going to pay for this work, I said I refuse to pay for a service that you delivered that wasnt done right. Needless to say he was a complete ass the whole time we were discussing the situation, and I have another appointment on Jan 4th, so we will see how it goes.

The worst job and customer service ever seen.the owner Fred it’s all about money I never recommend anyone to go there you will be very disappointed. I wish I can put pictures to the job he did.I hope he will change or close his doors

THE OWNER IS TERRIBLE, HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS. MY VEHICLE WAS THERE A MONTH AND IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE ONLY A WEEK.HE SPOKE TERRIBLY TO ME ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION.DONT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE!!!TERRIBLE CUSTOM SERVICE!!!!
