I am the same boat as the other poster who wanted to keep this place to self. This is a low key and good value shop. Kevin is honest and trustworthy and does not force or recommend any services that you do not need. He even pushed me to get some of the work done at the dealer as it might be under an extended warranty which I did not know at the time. Highly recommended!

Excellent service. They were able to diagnose an issue that had my car overheating. 2 other shops had told me that they couldnt replicate the issue. I really recommend this place and will return.

This shop is good, the mechanic, Kevin diagnosed my issue, told me exactly what he was going to do and how much it was going to be and even took into consideration that my Girl was Pregnant, saved me money by telling me I probably need a new battery and instead of charging me labor and extra on parts he left it up to me to swap out my own battery to save me money because my gf was Pregnant after he did the hard alternator installation great people...

Part of me is torn writing this review. It is one of those places you want to keep to yourself. They are excellent mechanics. Cavin telks you straight what you need and what can wait. They are a busy shop already because they are that good.This is one of those rare shops that stand behind their work. They do things right. Did I mention they are reasonable price wise? They dont do traditional appointments, which I love. call ahead, ask if they can take the car. Theyll offer another an alternative day if theyre swamped. We usually have the car back in a reasonable time for most things.

Fast diagnosis of issue. Explained the issue at hand and quoted me a very fair price. This place is will be my go to mechanic for my future auto repair needs. Work done in a quick and professional manner.

My second time going there I try to explain to the owner that he has to replace the windshield stick something simple, because he wanted to get rid of the old windshield. But instead he vilvio to install it and when I complained he brought me he began to scream, to get angry and repeating the same thing for more than 20 minutes, I told him to calm down and in return he showed me the door. an inappropriate and unprofessional way of dealing with his cliques. this guy needs anger classes. In fact, the first time I got to do a car check, I left about $ 5 in the car. when I return they were gone, which speaks a lot about the people who work there.

If anyone that lives in the Chantilly area this is the only one place to go to get all of your automotive needs met with professionalism, only recommended items that need to be replaced at a reasonable charge. I have recommended numerous individuals to this business. He also has a wonderful cat that he adopted as a stray around his business. Came in for the second time this time was something I never saw coming and im use to normal shops charging me an arm and a leg and here they did the work in a fraction of the time at a reasonable price and everything looks good as new. I had a great experience here. I came in with a bunch of questions about my car and he explained everything very well and very patiently. Honestly, this is the only shop where I felt I didnt need to be on my guard for aggressive up-selling. The woman in front was very nice too! This is the only place I will continue to go to in Herndon.

Great service, Cavin is extremely kind and knowledgeable. He has diagnosed my cars many times and fixed well. I have taken all my cars there for years and dont trust anyone else in the area. Most shops are out to fool you in overcharging services that are not needed, but this shop doesnt. Not sure what the yelling comments are, but I have always received great service at this shop with very courteous interaction.

Cavin and Jenny have been taking care of our familys car repairs for more than fifteen years. I came there because their repair estimates were reasonable compared to other local repair places; I stayed with them because you will not find a more honest car repair place that does more reliable work. If my car didnt really need a repair, Cavin would tell me. If I suspected a more expensive repair, sometimes Cavin would diagnose and find a less expensive solution. Some people may not like the bad news about whats wrong with their car, and yes, sometimes it is a big expense. But at least Cavin is going to tell it like it is, and get your car working right.

Very good customer service professional and honest and convenient

Our family used to use other local repair shops. My wife needed help and these great people took care of her and made her feel comfortable and at ease. I tried to get an inspection done at my regular place and I was treated like cattle. I came here and had 2 cars done in the same day and have been coming here for years now. I highly recommend this family run business for the quality of the work they do and how reliable they are.

Took car in for repairs, was told I just needed a distributor replacement, after that was complete extra items were piled on and were required for the car to work properly again. Eventually went way over the budget I stated at the beginning and I had no choice because I had already begun repairs. Manager also very unprofessional and began yelling in the customer waiting room.Basically, car died in the middle of the road but started up again a while after. I took it there to get it fixed, but it was an old car so I said that if the repairs went over $800 Id rather just scrap the car and get a new one rather than pouring money into it. I was told I needed a distributor and that it would be approximately $400, and that the problem would be fixed once that was replaced so I went ahead with it. After the distributor was replaced I was told it still didnt work and that it needed a new computer. This was another $400-500. At this point Im basically backed into a corner since I already sunk $400 into it, but they knew that so they knew Id have no choice but to also pay for the computer replacement. The total ended up around $1000 even though Id clearly stated my plans to the repairman when I arrived; they simply went ahead and told me a different story so that I would have no choice but to accept whatever repair prices and items they came up with. The manager also started yelling at me when I argued over this misinformation after the repairs were done, which was quite unprofessional since we were in the main public room with multiple other customers. Would not recommend using this auto repair.

A1 Car Care provides such a great customer service as well as the car service! I have been their customer for about 3years now and never been this satisfied with any other car reparing shops. Some other people on the review says “angry man” but I don’t know what angry man they are talking about because they have the most nice people working there. And most importantly, the price is reasonable. They don’t charge me for things that doesn’t really need to get fixed. I recommend this place to all my friends and families and to all of you reading this review! :)

They dont try to upsell me and Cavin is great about telling me if something is needed or not and how long it can wait. Whether it needs to be fixed asap or if it can wait til next payday. They were very professional and friendly when I went there for a state inspection. They showed me on the car everything that was wrong and explained it very clearly. The work was done quickly and inexpensively. Im so glad i found this shop, I am new up here and an honest mechanic is priceless!

I have been a customer of A-1 Auto Care for a few years now. I take my cars to them for oil changes, inspections, and whenever anything goes wrong with the vehicles. The owners are very polite and very professional. They were the ones I first went to on an acquaintances recommendation when I was ready to let go of the dealership for maintenance, and I am very happy I did. I have grown to trust their recommendations, and I have not once felt that I was being pushed into unnecessary work or charged unfairly. Hard to believe from an auto shop having come from a dealership where I felt that every time, but thats why Im here recommending them.

First of all, the old Asian dude behind the counter needs to learn to take a deep breath and calm down before talking to customers. I came in to get my car checked after having been to a couple other mechanics. I told him what the other mechanics said and asked him if he could take a look and tell me his price. Instead, this man started telling me that I was underestimating the situation and how I dont understand how the process of diagnosis works. Well of course I dont know the details but as a customer I expect a car repair shop to calmly explain what the problem is instead of the worker raising his voice at me and getting argumentative. Very rude and unprofessional. His demeanor and sour attitude turned me off. I strongly urge you not to go to this third rate shop. Youll be saving your time, money, and dignity.

This is the best place in town. My car had a bad breakdown and Cavin fixed it right away. Unfortunately, after I picked it up it developed what turned out to be a different problem all together. Cavin drove after hours all the way to McLean and got my car patched up enough to take it back to his shop. He even gave me a ride home. Ill never take my car anywhere else.

We started taking our cars to A-1 at the recommendation of a neighbor (after we had gotten ripped off at one of the national chain shops). They do only the work that is needed and can always fit me in. They always explain what my options are and whether it makes sense to go for the higher cost option or not. The work is ready when they say it will be, and have always been very friendly. I have recommended them to others who have also been happy with them.

I came here for a simple oil change and asked how long will it take. The asian guy said from 45 min to an hour. It usually takes 20-30 min so I was wondering why this time will take so long. Then, for no reason he yelled at me saying it will take an hour minimum because they were not expecting me that there were more customers. I just left. Not worth it coming here.

The best mechanic in No. Va. If you have a problem and other shops cant fix it this crew will . Hes honest and never over charges in fact sometimes I think he took a loss keeping my work truck on the road.

Have been a customer here for 5 years. New and used cars. Maybe because its near by but never had any issues and they do good job!

Went here to get state inspection done. Failed the inspection and needed over 800 dollar repairs to pass it. Took the same car to different shop and said there was no repairs needed at all. Up to you to decide who was wrong. Hint, my car is still up and running and confirmed it to be fine with 2 other service shops.

I have been going to Cavin for YEARS my mom even referred me to him when I first got my car. I referred my bf to go to him whenever he needed to get his car fixed. My bf had an ignition problem with his car and cavin was trying to do his best to fix it. (Usually he takes about 3-4 days to fix on a project). Most of the time is EXCELLENT at communication and letting people know what’s going on.. this man had his car for more than 10 DAYS. Saying that he was trying to fix it and said that he would call to let us know what was going on but literally we’ve been the ones to contact him first. whenever we would call him he wouldn’t be able to reach us for some odd reason. He also mentioned about how he’ll “get to fix the car when he’s not busy” Usually his wife is at the front desk but there is some new girl there that clearly was not communicating properly, and also was very rude on the phone. I finally called for my bf to get a direct answer because nothing was happening. I let him know our situation about how we have a child that goes to daycare, that I can’t take off of work to take him, I can’t rely on others to take him, that my boyfriend has two jobs, and he had the audacity to say that we were bilitting him and were “mean” to him when all I wanted was a direct answer to what was going on with my bfs car without being rude. Totally unprofessional and very uncalled for from him as me and my family have been going to him for 20 years. I will not go there anymore, and I will no longer refer him to anyone else again.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE- YOU WILL GET BELITTLED BY THE ANGRY ASIAN MAN.I wish I had read the one-star reviews before going to this shop because I had the same experience: the asian man was very unprofessional, started raising his voice with me and telling me that he had a lot of pride and didnt want to be underestimated, kept cutting me off, and was extremely unhelpful. He kept saying hell charge me and not to come back to him if there was another problem with the car. Also told me he could give me a free estimate on the phone and then when I took my car to his shop he started yelling why would I give you anything for free? what can you give me for free?! I would like to give him a free counseling service because he has many unresolved issues that he will project onto you.

This place is a joke. The guy name cavin is the owner and i dont think thays even his real name. he has a anger issue.its really hard to believe this place is still in business. He will start yelling at customers with F word and just cant control his anger. He needs to go take a anger management class or something. Just read other reviews. People listen and dont take your car here trust me. Why take u r business to a shop who think he is above everyone and dont respect customers? If you want to experience craziness take u r car to A1 and just talk to cavin.

I came at 9 am, 2 people ahead of me. The guy said it would be about 2 hrs wait. I asked if he could reserve the 3rd spot for me i return within 2 hrs. He said, No, bring it back in the afternoon and first come first serve.Very blunt Korean style of customer service!
