Stopped in while visiting Raleigh and was pleasantly surprised. I had the pulled pork plate with two sides and cornbread. Im not crazy about Eastern NC BBQ, but this was exceptional. When I walked in, I was told to sit anywhere and no-one came to take my order. I sat patiently for about 15 minutes before I decided to approach the counter and ask was someone going to come take my order. Once I did, I was able to order and had my food in less than 10 minutes. Other than that glitch, overhang else was fine. I will visit again if Im in he area.

Wow this BBQ was totally not what I expected and that’s a good thing! Excellent BBQ and a contender in the NC BBQ battle.The potato salad was OUT OF THIS WORLD. It really was just a bunch of potato wedges but like delicious potato wedges.Limited indoor seating but they’ve got some outdoor seating.

Just had lunch at Big Mikes BBQ in Cary with a group of friends. First off, our server Gracie was fantastic! She was handling multiple tables like a pro. The food was amazing. Best barbecue Ive had in a long time. The tots were pretty darn good as well.

Hair in my brothers food, very good pork, about 50 minute wait, decent cornbread but there were two different recipes of cornbread for some reason.

I dont think were going back.First, we did have a nice waiter who came to the table and told us what was good. After hearing these highly suggested items we ordered the brisket, mac and cheese and potato salad. He came back and told us they were out of the mac and cheese. Okay, that sucks, but cool.We asked for fries-nope, hush puppies-nope, chips-nope. He said we dont offer any of those sides. We settled on potato salad and fried honey sriracha brussel sprouts. The brisket meal is $20 bucks!It was too late for us to go somewhere else and eat so we decided to stay. We figured $20 per brisket meal we will have left overs to take home. NO! Look at the picture! This is how it came out!The potato salad are deep fried potatoes with cheese on top. We got two pieces of fatty brisket and small sides. We have been to many bbq joints in NC with better quality food, bigger portions and a cheaper price. The total was over $40 for two meals. You can find better.

Amazing BBQ. Have gone twice this week. Pulled pork sandwich, burnt ends (a must), brisket, and Alabama chicken are all amazing. If you like local places, this place is a must. Ill warn you though, its addicting. It reminds me of Chicken in a Barrel on Kauai.

Wasnt disgusting but definitely a disappointment. The ribs were dry and overcooked but meaty. The sauce was decent. The jalapeño sausage was tasty but not even a little spicy. The brisket was pretty flavorless. I thought I ordered potato salad but what I got was cheesy potatoes. The collards, mac n cheese and beans were okay but nothing notable. I wouldnt recommend or go back.

Food was good enjoyed the sauces and the tots were on point total for the meal was $15.70 so not the cheapest for a Sandwich, drink and small tots but it was enjoyable next time I get the large tots left me wanting more and good beer selection on tap with specials daily.

This place is amazing. I’ve eaten at a lot of BBQ spots and this place is one of the best I’ve had. The Mac and cheese is perfect too. Definitely eat here!

Chopped bbq is pretty awesome and cooked on-site in outdoor smokers. Sides are amazing too. Smoked potato salad (served hot) is a new favorite.

Some kind of beer tasting today. Food is good, service wasnt. I honestly could have just walked out; the staff totally forgot we were there... which is a little funny considering they had a team huddle literally right behind me...I bought the ghost pepper hot sauce. Its actually decent. The spice lingers a little & the flavor is quite good. Im impressed. I may return just for more, who knows.Being busy is not an excuse to forget about your customers.

We hired Big Mike’s to cater our wedding and we were BLOWN AWAY! The food was absolutely amazing, the service was impeccable. I know my husband and I will come back for lunch and dinner just to remember how amazing it was.

This was my first time at Big Mikes BBQ and its a must stop if youre in the area. The pulled pork, brisket, sausage and ribs were all delicious. My wife and I shared those meats with 4 different sides (Mac n cheese, baked beans, collard greens, and tater tots). The whole meal was fantastic and I will definitely be back!

This place is a must. We were vacationing from Cinti. Food off the charts. We ordered the sampler. And dont forget the banana pudding... unbelievable, melts in your mouth.

This food was finger licking good! I couldnt stop eating it. The only thing I did not like was the macaroni and cheese. I feel like everyone down south cooks their macaroni way too long.

I ordered the 2 meat platter with bbq, brisket, Mac & cheese, and coleslaw. It was all bland. Both meats needed salt and pepper. The Mac tasted like it was from a box (nothing Gouda about it). Even the coleslaw needed help. Wouldn’t recommend and not returning.

Felt it was really expensive for the quality. Did love the country music they played though :)

I have been here a couple of times. The last time, it seems that someone was a bit heavy handed on the cayenne. I guess what I am saying that the consistency is getting a bit out of whack. Its cool, but definitely just okay for me.

This location is insanely good! Like best BBQ I’ve had in NC so far. You will love the atmosphere, the people, and the food.I haven’t had anything bad here yet. The brisket is incredible. The chicken is incredible. The Buffalo chicken egg rolls are mind blowing. The tacos w/blue cheese slaw are fantastic. The Big Cheesy, best BBQ sand which I’ve ever had. There is legitimately nothing here that I don’t like.Kadi and the staff are always smiling and awesome to talk to. Do yourself a favor and go here. You will not be disappointed!

Terrible service experience as a visitor to Raleigh. We waited over 30 minutes after being seated and no one came to even ask for a drink order, while folks around us were being served, including those that were seated after us. Food smelled good but won’t know the quality since I didn’t get to taste it. Wouldn’t experience this in my hometown bbq joints.

The taste and execution widely varied depending on the item. If I return it would be for the smoked wings or bbq chicken - both of which were delicious.The items we ordered were:- BBQ chicken (nice smoky flavor and in a white sauce - yum)- Smoked wings (favorite item!! super tasty dry rub that was savory and sweet, pretty tender & meaty chicken)- Jalapeño sausage (tasty, but I think unnecessarily oily)- Brisket (nope. Dry, chewy, too fatty, bland)- Mac and cheese (watery, lacked flavor, pasta was way overcooked/soft)- coleslaw (watery)- cucumber salad (okay flavor but too sweet for my taste)- smoked potato salad (creamy sauce around the potatoes were tasty but the potatoes themselves were super bland and too big of chunks)

Great local shack with a version of Carolina BBQ sauce worth trying. Great selection and take out of local brews.

Had a late weekday lunch here. Good thing it wasn’t during rush hour lunch/dinner, because there isn’t a whole bunch of seating. We didn’t have any beers, but they did have about 10 beers on tap and a huge wall of cans, probably 50 or so. I’d say they have a pretty small menu for a BBQ joint, just a few sandwiches and then platters. They have pulled pork, brisket, and smoked wings as best I could tell from the menu. The food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. There was a really good waiter who seemed very enthused about his job.

What started out good, turned into meh. Was working on a project nearby, so stopped in for lunch with coworkers. Lunch was good with Pulled Pork Sandwich, Brisket Sandwich, Grilled Pimento Cheese Sandwich, and Pulled Pork Plate. Then we all decided that we would come back after work and take more BBQ home to our families for an easy dinner.When I arrived home, I found that the 1/2 lb of Brisket was missing from my order. Upon calling, the solution was for them to put my name on a list to say that they owed me the Brisket the next time I stop in. Not sure if that will be anytime soon. Especially since the Pulled Pork was dry, the Coleslaw was dry, the cornbread was also dry, the Mac and Cheese was ordinary, and the Kale Slaw was boring - and had a hair in it! My son did enjoy the 1/2 rack of ribs, saying they were meaty and flavorful.While the service was fine on both visits today, the quality of the food wasnt good enough to give me a reason to rush back to have them correct a mistake they made.

No flavor at all ~ good brisket doesnt need sauce but in this case the sauce helped ~ the salad was tasteless as well...maybe the other location is better ~ I guess Franklins in Austin TX got me spoiled😔

Brisket was cold, dry and test like rubber 👎🏽👎🏽, potato salad and baked beans was on point… but never again, plus I will not recommend it, prices was to much the meat quality🤦🏻‍♂️

Everything was great, for my tastes the brisket and pulled pork was a little dry. My favorites were the smoked wings and smoked potato salad, its more like home fry potatoes mixed with sour cream, cheese, and BBQ rub seasonings.

We went because of the great reviews but were so disappointed. The chopped bbq and chicken were so dry, the brisket was all fat, the mac and cheese looked and tasted awful. The smoked wings and cornbread were the only saving grace and reason for 1 star. Otherwise it would have been 0.

Oh, wow. Both of us got the chopped pork BBQ with gouda Mac and cheese, husband got corn bread, and I... I couldnt decide between the slaw, cornbread, or the potato salad, so I asked the waitress to pick, she said potato salad without hesitation. When I got the food, everything was SOOOOO Delicious, but I understood why she said the potato salad. It was by far my favorite thing on the plate, which is saying something because the BBQ was fabulous!!!

Top notch pulled pork. Cornbread is fantastic, I dont even like cole slaw, but their slaw is good. Gotta say the brisket takes a knife, and the jalepeno smoked sausage has little spice, but this place is five stars for me on their pulled pork alone. I get the sense that they dont use a lot of ingredients in anything, and that makes it a back yard, did it yourself kind of flavor... But better than you can do it kind of flavor. Hard to beat on price as well. Good stuff.

Large portion for a bbq sandwich. Flavorless chopped pork bbq with no sense of having been smoked. Texture was Good and meat was moist to the point the sandwich wouldnt hold together. The bottom bun turned to mush before my first bite. Good portion size for a sandwich, usually places like this are stingy with the meat. I saw the wings and ribs in other tables which both looked good and smokey. I had only the bbq sandwich and my bill was $8. I was greeted at the door and offered a water with the menu. I say at the bar and told the server I wanted to order carryout. After a long wait I had to stop another server to insist she take my order. This location is very close to my apt but Idk if Ill go back for awhile. Maybe Ill try again next summer.

A definite place to catch a favorable bite to eat in a quaint environment! The food have a mouth orgasm, it was deliciously enticing that we ordered several different meats to taste. We got the Texas brisket, chopped bbq and the bacon wrapped meatloaf (which was the special of the day), coleslaw, baked beans, Gouda cheese- Mac n cheese, and the smoked potatoe salad. Would highly recommend the meatloaf, it was.... Heavenly especially with the potatoe salad!!!! Reasonably priced, I give a 5*

We came in for dinner tonight and it was not busy at all-Our table was not clean- we wiped it downOne waiter came over and never introduced himself. Took our drink order, dropped our drinks off and never came back- we waited about 20 mins before we went up to them and said can we place our orders.We got another waitress and she tried to cover the table-We placed our orders and the Brisket was cold, they ran out of Mac N Cheese, and the Arnold Palmer was watered down because they ran out of sweet tea!!!!!They also ran out of beans too for another table’s order!!!!This was just poor service all around-We also saw food that was sitting out on the back table in front of the freezers, told the waitress and she did nothing about it- she looked at it about 30 minutes later, and went about her business- I hope it’s not refrozen and served later!!!They gave us free banana pudding and that was frozen!!WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!!

If youre looking for a small local place to grab some great barbeque, this is that place. The staff is so friendly, the great food is the 2nd reason to visit. Definitely recommend!!

First time there and the food was fantastic. I had the pork BBQ egg roll. It has a local neighborhood kind of vibe that is relaxing. You can sit at the bar and try one of the drafts on tap or grab a seat at a table. I highly recommend trying it out. The only negative is that the dont serve hush puppies. Seems wrong for a BBQ place.

I was born and raised in Texas and moved here not too long ago and this is the best BBQ in NC I’ve had BY FAR. It’s a little dangerous to have Big Mikes so close to where I live.

Top notch. Everyone was pleased with their food and beer selection. The whole menu sounded great and every item we ordered tasted amazing. I highly recommend the buffalo chicken eggroll as an app. Very chill atmosphere and perfect for hanging out, drinking some good beer, and eating some quality bbq.

Loved it!My boyfriend and I went in to grab a few beers off the wall and decided to stay for food.When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the male and female there. As we were looking at the beers, the gentleman came over and asked if we needed assistance. Im new to beer, so it was greatly appreciated. He took his time pointing out beers he thought Id like based off what I told him. He was fabulous.When we sat, the young lady was extremely attentive and friendly. Made sure we had everything we needed. Always smiling, she was lovely.I ordered the bbq sandwich with a side of macaroni. Boyfriend ordered a combo platter of brisket and burnt ends. Both were absolutely delicious. The macaroni was a little strong on pepper for me. But everything else, phenomenal.I would definitely recommend this place to beer and bbq lovers!

Very good BBQ in the Raleigh area. Between the four of us we tried all the meats and a few sides. The pork was great as expected. The brisket had good flavor but could have been more tender. Then there are the wings.... they were surprisingly delicious. Juicy chicken, with a satisfying crunch on the exterior, covered in an outstanding dry rub. Their take on potato salad is worth a try. Ask about it. Mac and cheese had great flavor but was missing some kind of crunch or texture for me. Dont get tater tots.... Theyre tater tots. The cornbread is probably excessive for most but at least you know youre getting your moneys worth. Its sweet, dense but moist, and has a hint of gingerbread.

Very good chopped pork BBQ, but not so hot (temperature). It was only warm. I prefer it hotter. But the flavor was on point. The service was good and its a very laid-back place! The cornbread was a little tough, but still good. In general, it was a good experience.

Me and my boyfriend just came from there . The food is amazing the whole time we were eating we were just talking about how delicious the food was . Everything was amazing . The people were nice .I got the choice of 2 meats and I chose ribs & smoked chicken. It comes with 2 sides so I got Mac and collards, and I also added corn bread . Everything was sooooo GOOD . My boyfriend got the choice of 3 meats and he got the brisket, smoked chicken, and if I’m not mistaking it was chopped chicken. He really enjoyed the brisket. For his sides he got baked beans and collards . He enjoyed everything . We will definitely be coming back . If I could rate a 10 I would . Thank you guys again!

Great place. Small and friendly place with excellent food and an extensive beer selection, bottles, cans and draft. I come to RaleighDurham for business and when I stay in Cary this is a “must go” kinda place. If you’re lucky they’ll have their ribs special going. Have the smoked potato salad or Mac and cheese as a side too.

Very good local bbq for a good price! They always have a great selection of craft beers on draft. Highly recommend the seasonal vegetable whenever they have it. Currently its the honey sriracha brussels and they are bomb af. Highly recommend!

Ordered dinner tonight. They were out of ribs. Says that they attempted to call, but my phone was on me and I didnt receive one. Picked up order sans ribs with no information about the ribs not being included. How did the app even let me order something that was sold out for the evening? Found them to be missing and returned to then be told they were out. The food is excellent, but there is no excuse for the lack of information. After leaving the store for a second time we finally got an email that said our order would be ready in 20min and that money had been refunded, but no reason why. We will never be back.

We had a variety tonight. Started with the giant pretzel. Soft and fluffy inside, but missing the pretzel crust. The mildly spicy mustard and smoky creamy beer cheese were delicious.The BBQ pork was very good, with strong enough smoke flavor, and the brisket was smoky and tender. Smoked sausage? Meh. The BBQ sauces were ok, but won’t bring you back on their own. The vinegar sauce was pretty good on the collards. Mac and cheese was great—creamy and rich.We finished by taking home a banana pudding and a bacon-banana pudding. The banana pudding on its own is ok. Adding bacon made the dish.Overall I’d normally give 4 stars, but…My wife got the 2-meat platter, I got the 3. The same except I also got the sausage. Mine was a couple bucks more, but hers had more meat. Quite a bit more. That’s pretty bad quality control.The BBQ was good, but I like a good NC vinegar sauce to go with it, and there was no there there.Finally, our bill had a rack of ribs tacked on. We didn’t have ribs, so I had to get them to remove that.Small things, but they add up to lack of attention to detail. At these prices I expect more.

I tried Big Mikes platter. The chopped, sausage, and chicken were all great. The brisket was not good. Super dry but I did catch them pretty late in the night. Ill give it another whirl. I should also say that this was takeout which is always tough.

Some of the best BBQ in the area that we’ve found. It is always fast and delicious and the beer selection is generally very solid and good as well. On a few occasions the meat has been overly cooked and dry but overall we have never had a bad meal or experience here. The whole family loves it and the prices are very reasonable.

Eat here if you want COVID!Their cleaning practices are about as good as their food - not very.The owner/management is pretty lax when it comes to cleaning standards - Im relatively healthy, so I did come in here once during the pandemic, because I want to support local businesses, but after what I saw, I will NOT be going back, even after this is all over.If you value your health and your loved ones, go elsewhere (or learn to BBQ at home - I just learned how to make ribs, and they are SO MUCH better than anything Ive ever gotten from here!).

Congratulations on being my first review.Not sure what happened but the service here was absolutely terrible. We used to come here all the time and after tonight we will not be going back and I advise the same until the service changes. The two female “servers”seemed to have an attitude the entire time, and did not want to acknowledge us even though we were at the bar.My husbands beer spilt all over the counter floor and myself and they literally watched as he cleaned up and said not a word to us or acknowledge it even happened after WATCHING it. After he cleaned it up she asked if we were ready for the check.. the cold potato salad was an added bonus.It was not packed there may have been one or two people there the entire time, it was obvious the servers hate their job and do not care. This was rediculous.

While the food was fair, the restaurant makes a mockery of Covid19 precautions. The gentleman who checked on me when I walked in had no mask on at all. Nor did any of the kitchen staff. I had previously called the restaurant after my last visit and they said they only mask when customers come in. I thought it might have improved since then. I was wrong. I will not return, particularly as other reviewers have noted the same issues.

I was in the area for work and had this restaurant recommended to me.Stopped in on a very busy Friday night and had a terrific dinner.The staff were amazingly attentive and pleasant despite having their hands full.The food was delicious. Being from Wisconsin it isnt easy finding Carolina style bbq back home. And did I mention sweet tea to die for?Had a seat near the kitchen and was reward with dinner and a show.
