I think it is bad business to enforce a policy and have no recourse nor offer any grace to people in need. We went over on our monthly lease by 7 days because we had to leave town for a death in the family. So we were charged a full months rent for 7 days use. Yet UHaul would not offer any kind of a refund for the month. Not even partial. Nothing.I know it is in the contract but exceptions should be made for some circumstances and a death in the family would be one of them.And I have worked in IT for decades and know that every billing system has an override procedure so blaming it on the system not allowing it is just lying.If I am ever in need of temporary storage in the future, I will not be using UHaul.

We came to this location and the staff was wonderful! Specially Miguel Santiago was absolutely wonderful! His service was outstanding! He helped us with our truck reservation, we really needed help arranging our reservation and he spent the time to help us! I definitely recommend this location!!!

Worst place to go. I was charge 119 for the light cove that pop out on it own. They state that I hit something and the light pop out. On the picture clearly show that the light was repair twice if not once. Poor repair and was charge for someone that didn’t do their job right never gonna use insult again

It boggles the mind that a company whose daily business involves people moving and relocating would find it suspicious that a customer would present an out of state license for ID. A reservation made a month in advance would surely have notice of additional strict ID requirements in the confirmation email right? Nope. How about website FAQ? Nix that. How about even a sign in the store? Well..in the Addison store it says you need a valid driver license to rent. See pic of their sign I took below. Thats it. So here is what you actually need if youre a shady out of stater like me, or you have homes in two or more different states, another thing they apparently have never heard of: TWO phone calls on the spot to people who can vouch for you. What does that even mean?? Hi Mr U Haul sir..why yes Jim did once take the whole bucket of his neighbors candy corn as a six year old trick or treater, but Ive known him for twenty-five years and I know for a fact he has never ever stolen a rental motorcycle trailer ever, honest! Really WTF would these phone calls even accomplish?? If you cant get your expert character witnesses on the phone at 7 AM on the spot like I couldnt, then heres your options: go home and get your current passport, a utility bill, lease agreement/mortgage, something that proves to the dude behind the counter that you live where you say you do. A freekin passport for a 20 dollar a day trailer?! And, they use their personal cell phones to photograph all your documentation..that to me is highly suspicious and very risky. For me gathering all that stuff was only a twelve mile round trip, and they all acted surprised I was REALLY ticked off when I left and when I returned. A phone call to U Haul corporate to lodge a complaint about this apparently discretionary policy was answered with..well yeah the store can ask for additional ID if they want to. So heres how to avoid a one star (should be zero) in the future...I dont care if you want a lock of hair and a blood sample to rent a truck or trailer. POST a conspicuous sign, put the policy in the website FAQ, and add it to the reservation email. Simple. Better yet, get with the rest of the vehicle rental world and accept a valid US driver license and credit card like those companies have done for decades.

Good experience and customer service. Dollys were missing in the truck for which I paid for. Returned the next day to ask for them. They offered the Dollys for free and a free extension for another day as I couldn’t complete my moving in to new home.

Oh, no. This is the fourth time this got posted. Darn systems issues.8/18/18 My credit card was billed twice for a $104 propane bottle purchase and fill. After researching, they actually attempted to charge my credit card(s) four times, and luckily two were rejected by my card company. Unfortunately, this created a fraud alert and my cards were shut down. You know that went on to be frustrating, huh? I went back the next day and spent an hour waiting on the manager to figure out how to provide a refund of the excess $104 charge. The store manager showed very little empathy and didnt even offer an apology for their mistake. He acknowledged they were having systems issues, but somehow I was made to feel that his systems issues were my my problem, too. I asked for a cash refund if their system problem persisted. The manager refused and said that wasnt even possible. Customer service 101 would say, make the customer whole and resolve your internal issues on your time, not the customers. The manager finally thought he was able to get the refund to work in the system via a workaround, and by accident it was going to return $8 additional to my card. Instead of correcting that additional systems issue he used it as an opportunity to say, that should more than compensate your for your time! Accidental gesture?? No thanks. U-haul, fix your issues . . . then upgrade your management talent. It should be well worth it in the long run. Day four update . . . I still dont show a refund adjustment on my credit card. Looks like I get to go back again. Disappointed and angry that I have to waste my time with a manager that exhibits so little empathy. K Caldwell

Make sure they dont shove the safe move insurance down your throat and pretend it was an accident. Took me two times going back into the store to get it taken off and still did not get the taxes on the fourteen bucks refunded. Other than that, everything was great.

I initially tried renting a moving truck online but due to operator error had to go inside to complete my transaction. The staff is courteous and friendly and made my move somewhat easier. By far this is the best location. Until we meet again Uhaul, take care and thank you!

I booked needing to move stuff from a nearby storage unit to the mid-cities area. Had to do it after hours per time constraints. It went bad from the beginning, as I had already reserved and was in the check-in process when I got a call from dispatch saying truck was returned late and Id have to pick up from another location, this one. I wish Id cancelled right then. I called to verify with [this] location and confirm my need for blankets and the time of pickup and it was clear the lady on the other end could have used more training about the after hours process. She first told me they were about to close before Id even asked my question. After a few minutes of confusion she assured me it would be ready to go. I was delayed over an hour waiting by my truck (after hours) and finally had to call the 800 number, and the ineptitude continued. We cant find your reservation, I was told. Yet they did have it, I was also told. I still dont know what they meant by that but the truck, when I finally got into it, had no moving blankets. I made the mistake of booking a two-way instead of one-way trip, and oh what a mistake it was. $493 extra for me returning it to the location by my house instead of the 25 miles back to this location. Wow. That was 4x the price I was quoted+the extra days I kept it having reinjured a shoulder in the move. I tried to get help from the manager here, he escalated it to a superior and that superior sent it to a superior. I only know this because I followed up continuously, no one ever called me back as they had agreed to. There was no overturning or even a partial refund of the relocation fee because Id been sent a text message that contained the order details. I feel their communication could vastly improve, in several respects. The truck itself was fine, aside from the battery dying in a parking lot-but it served its purpose. Ill tell anybody reading this to pay close attention to what you book, or just do what Im going to do in the future: use a competitor.

I had the U-Haul in Addison install a tow hitch on my 2002 Ford Ranger. Overall, I had a great experience here and would highly recommend them! Although the hitch took a couple extra days to get here, the shop had great communication throughout the whole process. The install was done very quickly in about an hour or so. It turns out that my truck was already pre-wired, so they were happy to refund the cost to do the wiring. The manager and staff are friendly and I would not hesitate to go back here for anything U-Haul related.

I rent a truck from this location 12-15 days per month. The service is very consistent and most often exceptional when compared to other locations. I am convinced that it is not due to the fact that I rent so much, but because it has great leadership. I come from a business development background and have noticed how the manger, Cedric, at this location manages the affairs of this particular location. My experience with renting trucks has convinced me that every location does not operate with this level of excellence. This is my first review for any company, but I thought it was worth taking the time to do. SW

Have picked up and dropped off rentals here twice in the last month. The staff were friendly and helpful but were slowed down by their inventory system. In and out within 20 minutes, which wasnt too bad. Drop off was quick and easy. Easy to see location from the road.

This location failed to check in my rental and ended up charging my card 3 times! The gentleman detached the trailer and ensured me that I was “good to go” I spoke to U-Haul customer service and was told that the manager Harrison would contact me but of course he never did. My account was overdrawn due to the negligence of the employees. I would stay away from this location at all costs!

I placed a simple order to pick up moving supplies at this location and had awful customer service. The list of items was very short, less than 75$ in total merchandise, and yet, with an empty store, the staff was unable to fill the order correctly. I spoke with the manager on duty, Robert, and he wasnt very helpful. To make the matter of not having all the the needed moving supplies more inconvenient, to get a refund, Robert wanted me to go all the way back to the store with no apathy to my limited schedule and waste of time on their account.This establishment will waste your time and money and has an issue putting together a simple order hours in advance. IF you use them, keep a close eye.

Then a very rude male came from the back telling us our truck, an 4×4 f150 couldnt tow 8,000lbs when its rated for 15,000.00. They took the word Service Out of Customer Service. Only one of all the employees I interacted with was pleasant to talk and decent, Robert. I had a bad experience regarding a payment, they ignored me, I went all the way to corporate jut for them to tell me that they cant help me because this store is a dealer, they are not corporate, Wow, amazing. If you do not care about been treated poorly, please go there; now, if customer service is important, you need to choose a Uhaul that is not a dealer.

I rented a Uhaul 26 truck. The location I rented from was in bedford tx. I picked up the truck and had a multitude of issues. I returned the truck the next day on 09/06/19. Today is 10/09/19 and I recieved a bill for 1,531.80. Apparently I drove this truck so fast in 24 hrs I racked up 3,210 miles. When I picked the truck the mileage was wrong. I contacted uhaul because I used the online app and was told they would update it. I also have a picture of the mileage at the time of picking up the truck. I will never rent another truck from uhaul again. How the heck did I drive over 3,000 in 24 hrs. What kind of motors do you put in these trucks. Is there a rocket attached to the damn thing. This is a joke.Update: Callee usual told manager would call me and guess what the manager never calls me! Great service uhaul.

Sadly I feel the need to leave a review after the poor service and the rude people working there. I would definitely look to hire some new people there as not one person provided me with any customer service. In fact it was quite the opposite. I will take my business somewhere else and happily pay a little more to be treated like a human. Save your money and go somewhere else.

This is one of the larger U-Haul stores; hence, they had all the moving supplies I viewed on the website in stock. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. They helped me carry my purchases out and patiently helped me figure out how to fit a large wardrobe box into my small car which I really appreciated.

We made a reservation for a one way trip, and we were told that we could drop the truck off at a different location. The next day, reps then told us we had to take it back to the same location or be charged double. The reps were nice, but this is a big hassle on top of a very stressful day. We now have tmto go an hour out of our way to drop the truck off to avoid charges because we were given misinformation.

If I could give a negative star or black hole review I would. This review refers to the UHaul Company and not this store in particular. I rented a trailer to move furniture from Dallas to my home in northern Mississippi. While in a rural section of Arkansas the trailer broke loose from the hitch and the emergency brakes locked on the trailer. I waited almost 7 hours for roadside assistance and when the tow truck arrived, it took the driver 10 minutes to release the break and I was on my way. SEVEN HOUR wait for roadside assistance is no help. NEVER RENT from UHaul. They have a lazy and generally incompetent customer service roadside assistance staff who take a half hour to answer the phone for the initial contact. The recorded message asks If you are tired of waiting go online to make your roadside assistance request. If you are like I was this afternoon, I had no internet service. Hence I was out of luck. I am owed some compensation for my wasted day. When I brought this issue to the attention of customer service, I was referred not some middle management person, but the owner/manager of the location from which I rented the trailers. Josiah Chainiere. I will be interested to see if he does anything. Will post an update.

Ive been to this location a couple of times for moving and packing needs and theyve always been helpful and friendly. Even taking time to explain return policy for boxes so that I could save money if I didnt use them, and them helped load them for me. I think they may have done a good job responding to some older negative comments because I saw none of those issues any time recently.

This place is a joke! I wouldn’t recommend what so ever! They charged my card several DAYS. Because of one employee that didn’t check in the trailer I rented for only 4 hours. I don’t understand how hard it is to do your job. And I’m seeing other people have similar problems with this store charging people’s card due to laziness and not checking in the trailer after it has been returned. They need all new employees!

The worst service I have ever encountered. We dealt with Chadrick Franklin directly the manager. At the time of pick up for our one way truck we let him know that the drop off location had changed. He told us no problem just call when you get there. We did just that and were told oh well it is going to be an extra $400 now. What?! Why would this have not been mentioned when the truck was picked up. I immediately called Chadrick and he told me there is nothing he can do for me and hung up on me. I have referred numerous clients to this location and will never do that again. Do not use this location for personal or business.

I rented a Uhaul from here and when I went to pick it up, they transferred it out to Frisco without any notification. The ladies at the front desk were not helpful nor apologetic. The one who was not helping me was yelling at someone on the phone about dropping a truck off (very unprofessional). I asked why no one had contacted me about having to go to Frisco and they said someone emailed me. However, when I pulled up my email in front of her, nothing was sent. Cancelled my order and went somewhere else where they appreciated my business. Will not use this Uhaul again.

The manager of this location is a joke. Employees are respectful to field concerns, but manager is non responsive to requests to discuss serious problems - ie, renting me a truck with no AC during summer and substantial amount of dog hair in seats (basic points that should be caught before releasing a vehicle). I would NOT recommend this location as this is a persistent problem. There are many other uhaul locations where I have never seen such basic issues and management is responsive.

We had a reservation at 9:00 am and had family and friends taking time out of their day to help us move. There were three employees and a line out the door. There was no line for reservations and no line for none reservation and we waited to get our reserved trailer for 40 minutes and it took an additional 15 minutes to get checked out. This is poor management with no sence of urgency for the customer. If you come here be prepared to wait in line.

Excellent service and a big thanks to Shawn! Went to pick up a 6x12 box trailer and the trailer brake lights werent lighting up. We tried a 2nd trailer and the same problem occured, pointing the blame to my truck and not the trailer. Shawn was able to diagnose the problem and walk me through how to rewire my 7pin connector. He fixed the problem and got me on my way. He spent close to 45 minutes of his time helping me and even let me use his tools. I never expected such great service. Thanks to Shawn, I will come to this location everytime I rent with uhaul in the future!

Rented a truck on August 18th from Houston for one way to Carrollton TX this was the return location returned within contract days at night drop. Next morning I get extra charge billed to my cc account for $59. Saying dropped off at wrong location inspire the drop off location was 2735 E Belt Line RdCarrollton, TX 75006. I called and were very unprofessional attitude kept me on line for 45 mins to figure out it was their mistake. My issue is how they handled their mistake. I am a former uhaul employee before I quit because i didnt want to stay sucked into the blackhole. The work is easy but comes with subpar pay. Employees didnt seem to care. Which I mean why would they with there measly pay. I gave 3 stars though because my truck was clean. And the employee that made up my contract was knowledgeable. 1 last big gripe. I realize that trucks with 2000 miles may have some play in the steering wheel. My truck have 48000 miles on it I had to hold the wheel at 45° the entire drive. Uhaul as a company needs to maintain all there trucks vans trailers

I have never seen a business run so terribly. I read the bad reviews before I rented, but I thought, really, how bad could it be? Its a simple truck rental...This is the worst uhaul experience I have ever had and I will never go to any uhaul ever again if they continue to refuse to fix this issue. You charged my card an extra $180 without authorization two days before my rental was up, which prevented me from moving into my home since I had exactly enough money on my card for the deposit. I called the office at least 5 times over a 48 hour period requesting to speak with the GM and he was not available each time and they each assured me he would give me a call back that day. One employee finally referred me to the corporate office since I was not getting answers, in which I was explained what these charges were for.I finally got ahold of GM Cedrick after refusing to hang up until he was available. He then confirmed what the corporate contact told me was not true, regarding what the extra charge was for. He told me I did not pay for the rental through Friday, although they have the recorded call phone call where the rep and I both stated Friday at 6pm the truck would be returned. Two days before the truck was returned I get charged an extra $180, and I didnt realize I was charged extra until my move in day. So I drove the truck to what I thought was my new home, only to find out my card was declined for my deposit because uhaul took out an extra unauthorized charge.They are refusing to admit that what they did was not right. This extra unauthorized charge prevented me from moving into my home, left me and my family now homeless and caused me to have to place all of our items into a friends garage in the complete opposite direction from the uhaul location and where I was planning to move. They have no empathy for all the things they messed up for me and my family, and they are refusing to correct their error or even give the slightest apology.I understand they charge you a larger amount when you first rent based on estimated mileage and whatnot, but my problem is that this charge was not authorized and no one can give me solid answers. I paid through Friday, but was charged an extra $180 two days before my rental was over. They all told me different things before speaking with the GM, so then the GM told me what every one else told me was not valid, and he told me I didnt pay for the rental until Friday, even though they have a recorded phone call confirming this is true. Cedrick referred me to a lawyer after I called him out on his second lie, and then ended the call with some laughter.When the local office refers you to the corporate office, and the corporate office refers you back to the local office, and the local office is full of lies, then you know they have some internal issue. This company is crap and I will be sure no one I know rents a uhaul ever again. This isnt right and Im not okay with how I was treated.
