So many items in this store. I liked that they let me bring in my dog. Many items I closing clothing seem to overpriced. I have trouble spending that kind of cash on shorts, pants, etc. many sporting good at a reasonable price. Foot west seems to be of a gods quality but again you decide if the price is worth it. I have not purchased food wear from here but when I have at other sporting good places the stuff seems to last. The clothing is probably the same. Enjoy this place and get what you need. In church street market which was fun.

I love OGE and the vast selection. Ive been shopping here for many years. That said, recent customer service has been lacking in attention. My female friend, ready to buy a nordic ski package, waited in line at the ski/ bike counter for 20 minutes before giving up. She was the second person in line, with nobody behind her; it was not even very busy. This was just yesterday, a Friday evening. The male person in front had 3 male staffers working/chatting with him for the whole duration, and at no point did my friend feel acknowledged. When I mentioned this to a rep at the counter, they said that they often get distracted; I didnt get a sense that they would mention it to anyone. My friend mentioned hearing from other female friends similar stories. This is colloquial and I dont want to assume that this is a common trend. I sincerely hope that is not a trend. My friend is willing to try again another day, but is likely to shop elsewhere.I hope this event is addressed, especially if it is not isolated and others have had similar complaints.

MASSIVE selection if high quality and in comparison to other places cheap items. The staff are friendly and incredibly helpful and cater to everything you need when shopping. The store has anything and everything you could need for any trip in the outdoors, and the fact that a lot of the items are on a return basis means that things tend to be cheaper. But that doesnt mean that its worse quality. Most of if not all my outdoor activity items come from here, which includes skiing, backpacking, camping, hiking, biking, swimming and more, not including things like my regular winter coat. Highly recommend and if you are into the outdoors, then you need to get into this store.

I was on a last minute stop to travel el camino de Santiago. I still didn’t have my pack because every store in Boise was out of what I needed. Chris helped give me several options and was very patient with my newb-ness. I ended up buying a cheaper Gregory pack that fit me better than the newer packs. Chris also talked me out of an expensive triple layer rain coat and suggested something more appropriate for my hot summer trek. This place is just great.

This is the best gear store in New England. It has the best selection, an incredibly huge inventory of brand new, cutting edge hard goods and clothing/footwear, but also tons of discounted gear, samples, closeouts. Also, the basement has a well organized Consignment section for used clothes and gear for all ages. Best sock selection in the state. To top it all, the staff are friendly, welcoming and very well informed and experienced without being condescending. I found all of the Christmas presents for my entire list in one stop. Also, the shop is obeying strict COVID-19 safety protocols, and offer curbside pickup and free shipping over $49. Highly recommend.

After a few very positive experiences shopping here -- I will never be back. After being Covid questioned and let into the store without issue about 20 minutes later I was approached by a staff member who told me the bandana I was wearing securely around my face was not safe enough for their store. Let me begin by saying there is absolutely no science to back up such a claim. I tried explaining this to the employee but he gave me the typical sorry, its our policy. As he handed me a store supplied mask with his bare hands I thought AH! it is safer for me to have his hand germs on my face then to wear the mask I own? NO THANK YOU! This doesnt even address the fact that I was let into the store without issue and that there was no stated policy outside the store that is against wearing bandanas. Nothing like being kicked out of a store that doesnt know or understand its own policies or why they are in place in front of your children.. but I am happy that my daughter chose not to buy the overpriced boots she was eying in protest against what happened.

Pros: Good selection of gear and the used section downstairs is great.Cons: a very opinionated collage staff, slow service turn around and I have the feeling that most of the staff is stoned, disorganized layout but its has definitely improved over the yearsOverall: I feel the bones of OGE are great but the staff and floor layout definitely need to be more customer oriented. Also as an someone whose been camping longer than most of the staff has been alive, its a bummer to be confronted by an opinionated collage staff who find it funny how dated some of my durable outdoor products are. Sorry Im not interested in a crazy light cooking set up, just sell me what I ask for. Will not be returning as their Covid protocol isnt as serious as Id like.

Not for older bikesWhile the retail store is fantastic their bike shop is mainly for new road and mountain bikes. I have an old bike with old school shifters (photo, not mine but same model) and the minute I left the store following my tune up the shifter ripped the wire out. Went back, they fixed it for no charge. But then less than a week later same issue. I fixed it with a friend at that point. Also they forgot to put caps on my new tires I bought from them.If you have a modern bike I bet you’ll have better luck but older bikes should probably stick to old spokes home

After a ride my mountain bike was making a few awful noises that I knew werent good and I needed to get fixed ASAP. I had a day of downhill coming up in a few days and on my way over to OGE I was praying that theyd be able to take a look, figure out the issue and have me back on the trails lickity split. Sure enough Austin had replaced my brake pads and rotor and through a few (perhaps too many for a non appointment visit) test rides down Cherry Street he was able to identify and resolve a weird little squeak that was present for too many rides. Austin was thorough throughout my visit, is a top not guy and has great chat! Rick is also great - I now have a better understanding about my shock system, getting full use out of it, and when to increase or decrease the squish factor. OGE - all the time, every time.

I once placed an order through this site and the representative I spoke with went above and beyond to make sure I was ordering the correct item. I was VERY impressed by their customer service. When I think a company has excellent customer service (especially a mom + pop shop) I always continue to order from them to support their company. However, today I called to place an order and they failed to match their price match guarantee. There is no current language in their policy stating they will not match a price from a website where you have to create a log-in (even if the log-in creates a membership which would be free). Apparently it is their policy, but for whatever reason their website does not have this statement listed and cuts the sentence off at We (see attached image of how it read when I contacted them -- end of the first paragraph). This, of course, is not the customers problem, but an error on Outdoor Gear Exchanges side. Said bluntly, it is false advertising. The customer service this time disappointed me as they were not willing to honour their policy as it was written at the time I contacted them (it has since been updated listing the specific site I was trying to price match). A company which truly has excellent customer service (as I previously experienced) would honour their policy and this company wouldnt budge.I have now written this company off as one from which I will shop. I purchase a lot of gear, so they have lost at least one customer -- which for a mom + pop shop should matter to a small degree. Since Im a climber, which is a very communal sport, I will also spread the word in my climbing community to not purchase from a company who does not honour their policies as written and therefore falsely advertises.I wish I could say something better about them other than the first time I ordered from them the representative was amazing. Upon second purchase, the customer service was abysmal. I like to support ethical companies and in my opinion Outdoor Gear Exchange does not practice ethical business policies.

This is your quintessential outdoor gear shop! OGE is conveniently located on Burlingtons Church Street in the midst of all the other stores. This store has anything you could need for all of the outdoor sports/activities you can enjoy in this region. On the main floor you will find a TON of footwear, its nice that they have a ramp to test shoes on. As someone that used to hike a ton in New Yorks High Peaks, the last thing you want is to find out you have a blister 3 miles into a grueling hike and your new boots are tearing up your heels.Skiing is a popular activity up here, the store sells a decent amount of ski and snowboarding gear. I also spotted bikes canoes, kayaks and so much more. There is often a sale tent outside the store, so thats worth looking through. I also found a section downstairs with either pre-owned or clearance goods.I personally love Yeti tumblers for keeping water cool, this store carries a lot of that type of inventory and some items were on sale.Even if you arent sporty, there are still a lot of great shoes and clothing to check out here. The store is great, but a bit on the pricey side. Still its nice to support local businesses and that seems to be the ethos in this area.
