Ive been coming here off and on for years. This place is always so welcoming, friendly, and helpful, its one of the best bike shops for actual people. I personally believe people here genuinely care about there customers, and the community in general. Its more than just a business.

I was helped by Austin. He was very helpful and went above and beyond my expectations. Austin, if you see this, thank you again! I had a wheel that I bought from the store over a month ago, but because of a mess-up from amazon loosing my package for 3 weeks, I did not realize the wheel would not work with the piece from amazon until the wheel was past the return dat. despite this, Austin was able to help me out and save my wallet haha. Even though it may not have been the best for the company, Austin did what was best for the customer. THANK YOU!!! I will definitely be shopping at Old Spokes Home again!

I seldom leave a review for companies, this might be my third, but when I do its because a company or business has gone above and beyond, ( I dont leave negative reviews, because every one has a bad day). Old Spokes is an amazing bicycle shop. I truly enjoyed my time looking for and picking out my bike,. The reason for this is because of the honesty of the employees and their willingness to assist my wife and I. Today (April 3, 2021), Old Spokes was very busy and yet the employees managed their time astoundingly to ensure each customer was taken care of. This business takes pride in their refurbished bikes and it shows. They will not sell you.a bicycle, if they have any doubt in its integrity. I will not shop at any other bike shop for my bicycle needs. Lastly, this place has an awesome mission of providing affordable bikes that people from any walk of life can afford. Not to be sentimental, but in some cases, a bike is the only way for those with out great means can travel. Which can mean the difference between getting a job or not. I am beyond grateful I found this place. I look forward to going back to Old Spokes.

Why is it the best shops are always the cheapest? It’s because managing and service are so closely related. These folks are knowledgeable and busy!Couldn’t wait for them to do the brakes so I took the parts and ran, but I believe they would have done just as good a job if not better. Their customers are varied, yet ever so friendly and helpful. If you have any trouble, look for the guy in the overalls.

Excellent shop with excellent staff and service. I look forward to going back again. The staff here is knowledgeable and really seem to strive to provide a good experience for everyone, whether your looking for repairs or even a new bike. Pricing is fair on most parts and they run some really good deals on second hand bikes. Due to the current setup they have with the COVID situation, they can get a bit backed up (thus a longer wait), but I believe its simply because they are extra attentive to the needs of customers. One of the best bike shops around and I highly recommend it for everyone

Got my bicycle from here a few months ago and they made it so easy even with the extra and time-consuming precautions they are taking at the store. All of the staff is super helpful and really take time to help you out. Used bike selection is usually pretty great (unless everyone is trying to snatch up a bike) and they do good work!

Their refurbished bikes are excellent. Felt confident immediately riding in traffic, and going on 8+ mile ride, without bringing tools. They refurbed a very nice, early 90s step through univega hybrid, for me, and installed fenders, basket, and rack. Bike has been very solid, and I have ridden 30+ miles in all conditions, since buying it and used it for hauling 20+lbs of groceries without needing adjustments so far.

Nice people. Way overpriced especially for secondhand bikes. They showed me a bike with flat tires, rusted frame, no pedals and who knows what else, for 3 hundred. I went online and paid the same amount for a 30 year old bike with all original parts and not a speck of rust or frame damage. I also brought my bike their to see if it needed work or if it was just a quick fix I could take care of. I told the lady I couldnt get it fixed that day because I had no money on me. She took it in adjusted some things then asked me to pay what I could. My friend that was with me felt obliged to do so. Super awkward unprofessional and uncomfortable moment.

Even with COVID changes (doing everything outside), this was the best bike shop experience Ive ever had. My group was touring in the area and came in with lots of small repairs one morning. Everyone at the well-staffed shop (many female staff btw which was awesome) was fast, friendly, and helpful, and all repairs were very affordable.

Had my road bike in for a time and the frame had a crack. They had a nice used frame that they transferred or found all the parts and components for from mostly my old bike for a reasonable fee.I think any other shop wouldn’t have bothered to do that and only would of looked to sell me another bike.

Asked for help with my front breaks that were rubbing against the tire, and they knowingly loosened the breaks to the point where they no longer worked at all, and then would not help me tighten them to a good middle point. My bike is old and I was unsure how to adjust them myself, and they were very unhelpful and impatient, and I left with my bike in a worse condition than it was when I brought it in.

Glenn Eames opened Old Spokes Home in 2000. Dubbed the most unusual bike shop in the world, Glenn sold new and used bikes for everyday transportation and adventure, offered full repair services, custom builds, wheel building all while making Old Spokes Home a cultural hub for bicycle lovers. His world-class bicycle museum takes viewers through the technological development and history of the bicycle, and the walls of the shop are decorated with bicycle art and images from around the globe. Glenn never pushed technology for technologys sake; he aimed to offer high-quality, durable products in an effort to set riders up with exactly what they needed for their next ride or adventure. His goal was to make bicycling and the joy it provides available to everyone in the Burlington community. Ron Manganiello started Bike Recycle Vermont in his backyard in 2005. A friend working for the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program asked Ron, a voracious everyday cyclist, if he knew where to get a bike for a Somali man who recently settled in Burlington and needed to get to work. Ron found a bike in a dumpster, fixed it up, and delivered it to the man. Soon after, dozens of requests for bikes started pouring in and Ron recognized that bicycles have a tremendous positive effect on peoples lives; bikes expanded peoples mobility, healthfulness, and freedom. Ron wanted to provide bikes and these opportunities for people who needed them the most. In 2006 Ron moved the operation to the basement of Good News Garage in the Old North End of Burlington. In 2007, Vermonts nonprofit bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organization, Local Motion, adopted Bike Recycle Vermont as one of its programs. Between 2005 and 2015, Bike Recycle Vermont provided over 5,000 bikes and 10,000 repairs to low-income Vermonters. In 2015, staff and volunteers at Bike Recycle Vermont raised funds for the purchase of Old Spokes Home. The goal was to establish new nonprofit organization that would manage both shops and merge their operations, staff, and resources. As a single organization, Old Spokes Home & Bike Recycle Vermont have grown their social programs and services, adding job training opportunities, classes, youth programs, rides, trips and other services and events designed to get more people enjoying the benefits of bicycling. They retired the name Bike Recycle Vermont in 2017 in order to present a more unified organization. They are now Old Spokes Home, a bike shop and a nonprofit, here to make bikes accessible to everyone in our community. In early 2019, they took another big step: they merged two shops into one space. Integrating theirs operations under one big, beautiful roof will create efficiencies, improve the quality of our programming, establish equity among our customers, and sustain their operations into the future.

My roommate and I went to Old Spokes together, each looking for a new bike. She was looking for a town cruiser that can also be used to commute on, and I was looking for a road/cross bike. The employee who helped us was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. He sized us up and gave us each three options that fell within the realm of what we were looking for, all of which we were able to test ride. He did a great job explaining the differences between each of the options in a very understandable and thorough manner.I was really excited that the sales staff was not pushy, nor did they use language that was over my head (which Ive been intimidated by at other shops in the past). I would recommend Old Spokes to anyone looking for a new or used bike. Im really happy with my purchase - it fits me well and suits my needs perfectly. They also have a great museum upstairs with bikes from the 1800s! Very cool to see.A follow-up plus: you receive a free tune-up after initial purchase, which is great for anyone breaking in a new bike. When my roommate and I went back, we encountered another very helpful and friendly salesman. I feel confident relying on this shop for all of my bike-related needs.

Got a flat tire this morning as I rode by the shop. (Always thought it would be a good idea to smash bottles out front to drum up some business...) They cheerfully let me borrow a pump and provided some Gorilla Tape to temporarily patch the gash on the inside of the tire until its replacement arrives. After working as a mechanic in another old-school shop for over a decade, it was clear they just wanted to help me get back on the road, with no delay and no pressure to buy anything. Looking forward to my next visit, planned or unplanned...

While they do have a decent selection of bikes, I found the staff to be rude and unhelpful. There was one man in particular (I think he might be the owner) who was especially hostile towards me when I asked him about deals on refurbished bikes. I told him my budget, but he kept directing me towards bikes that were clearly out of my price range, and was reluctant to show me the cheaper bikes that were in my price range. I got the sense that these people care more about profit rather than customer satisfaction. I will definitely not be returning to this shop when it comes time to buy a new bike.

I gave them 1 star...probably being too generous. I asked about a price of a used bike...both Sam and another guy came up with $ 150. Sounded fine to me... until they decided to jack the price up to $200 after checking it out further. Seems they decided they could part it out and make more money . I guess a mans word is trumped by greed ? Oh well, another case for the almighty dollar . What a shame really.
